Amsterdam's Hotels Won't Waste Your Time

"The Toren’s location in the central canal district could hardly be more picturesque, and the same goes for the building itself, which recently celebrated its 400th birthday. Not content simply to rely on the charm of its setting, the Toren’s proprietors brought in designer Wim van de Oudeweetering, who outfitted the hotel in lush fabrics, rich colors, bold patterns, and theatrical details — you’d almost call it baroque, were it not so contemporary in its vision." - Mark Fedeli

We were very happy with our four -day stay at the Toren in Amsterdam. We stayed in a Canal View Room on the second floor. We loved the location and ease of access to great restaurants, museums and Amsterdam Central station (15 to 20 min walk). With the heatwave we appreciated the well working air conditioner. Enjoyed the black out shades and comfortable bed. The room is on the smaller, cozier side with a sitting area by the window facing the canal. The room has robes, slippers and in room safe. We opted for the breakfast plan. Advise booking direct for best rates. It also includes a choice of perks such as airport transportation or museumkart card for the day. Friendly and helpful staff.

This hotel was at my final destination Amsterdam, after travelling through London, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. It was such a welcoming and lovely surprise to finish my holiday in a well-appointed and well-located hotel. With complimentary water, coffee (Lavazza pod machine) and soft drinks, I looked forward to coming back to my luxurious room each evening. The food in the bar downstairs is supplied by the Black and Blue restaurant, which I recommend (both the food and the restaurant). All staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, with a genuine interest in your travels. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam. It's about a block away from Anne Frank's house.

The hotel staff are top rate, especially George at the front desk who was so courteous and helpful. He was a pleasure to converse with. The hotel and rooms were spotless and well maintained. The hotel is in the middle of old Amsterdam and near the Anne Frank House. The breakfast is excellent. The whirlpool bathtubs are huge, but be sure to request a bathroom with shower doors.

😊: V central location, exceptionally quiet room, comfortable beds, good bathroom. Useful to be able to leave luggage on departure day.. 😢: A premium price for a pleasant experience. For £300 a night we would have expected touches of luxury, a view and breakfast included. We were placed in a separate building so this stay felt like an air bnb at high-end hotel prices. The staff we encountered were competent but we did not experience the warmth and service previous reviewers describe..

Right in the heart of the canal district of Amsterdam, we stayed here a week and liked it a lot. The decor is antique, but this gives it a warm and homely feel, and the rooms have the latest equipment (ours had a Jacuzzi) and the beds are comfortable. We had a garden room, and enjoyed sitting outside in our small private garden. The staff are cheerful, speak good English and go out of their way to help eg booking restaurants, travel arrangements. No internal restaurant, but the bar has a good fast delivery arrangement with a restaurant round the corner, and the local streets are full of good restaurants, and the hotel provides an excellent up to date list (we ate at four and enjoyed them all).

We had an extraordinary stay at the Toren, great view and astounding service. The hotel staff was amazing, the woman at the reception was very friendly and helpful and helped us navigate the city. The restaurant had great food and very nice environment overall. The checkout went smoothly and Abdullah was extremely helpful, thank you so much. Will be coming back soon!

Google
This is a beautiful hotel along the canal. The room was very comfortable and offered great amenities. I like that the hotel is so close to everything, its very easy to walk wherever you need to go. I also appreciated that the hotel offers extra services like airport transfers. I found that very helpful.

Google
My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and we loved it. The stairs are steep to floor 3 so prepare for that. But the overall feel of this place is welcoming and we loved it. Would definitely recommend it. If we ever get to return to Amsterdam, we will return to the Toren as well.

Yelp
I don't even know what to write, because it simply was just the best hotel I've ever stayed at. I've already recommended it to people I know going. It's a great location, the staff is super nice and accommodating, the rooms are clean, and the bed is comfy. Not much more one could ask for really.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the room was comfortable and quiet. After long days of walking and sightseeing, the jetted tub was exactly what we needed. The location couldn't have been better. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
I should also mention that despite being rated the #1 best hotel in Amsterdam (on TripAdvisor), it was also one of the most affordable. I believe I spent $150 USD for a single night of luxury. How very Dutch! - fancy and frugal!

Yelp
Back in 2017, and it's still FIVE STARS. Predictably, sat at the bar and enjoyed delicious gin drinks "summer in a glass" expertly mixed by the friendly bartender. Came back here twice, and I just love this place. For me, this is one of the best spots in Amsterdam. Maybe because I actually have history here.

Yelp
The bathtub was heaven sent after coming "home" each day from walking the mean streets of Amsterdam. I melted into it...and, yes, treats from local coffee shops definitely made that even more of a luxurious experience. The single room wasn't as claustrophobic as some reviews mention, but definitely would be cramped if two people were staying there (I was on my own). The room has a large bed, desk, and two bedside tables, and that's about it. There's a rather spacious closet (given the room size), and while the bathroom is lacking in counter space, there are drawers under the sink where you can store your toiletries. The location was perfect for being far enough away from Central Station/Red Light District but close enough for arrival/departure purposes. Situated on a canal adjacent to, if not actually in the Jordan area, super close to the Anne Frank house and walking distance to a handful of cafes, cocktail lounges, eateries, etc. Super easy to get buses/trams/walk to other neighborhoods as well and separated from the hustle and bustle so when you arrived back each night, you could leave the hectic nature of the day outside. While I didn't indulge in the dining/bar on site, it's absolutely stunning. An extremely welcoming, romantic vibe, complete with goth-y and velvet accents.

Yelp
An adorable, fun hotel in the center of Amsterdam. I stayed in the single room, about which I got an email saying that it was very small and I probably shouldn't stay there if I had claustrophobia. But it wasn't that small-- just a bit cozy-- and supremely comfortable (the bed in particular was fantastic). There's a lovely garden, and the bar is so extravagant and fun. The staff too is incredibly friendly, and offered me many great suggestions for how to make the most of my one-night layover in Amsterdam. The hotel is also incredibly conveniently located and is walking distance from multiple forms of public transit. If you are coming from the airport, definitely don't bother with a taxi-- it is literally faster (and more eco-friendly!) to take a train! My only complaint is that it is a bit expensive for what you get, particularly since breakfast wasn't included in my price, which I found unusual. Especially in a city with so many cheap hostel options, I would have expected the hotels-- even a nice one like this!-- to be more affordable, especially in the little room I was in. Still, I would love to stay here again when I come back to Amsterdam!

Yelp
During the recent European heatwave, we stayed at The Toren for 3 days. We enjoyed our lovely canal-side room, in their adjacent building which features an elevator (unusual for Amsterdam small hotels, so be sure to check!). Our room had a two-person jacuzzi, beautiful fixtures, and spacious powershower big enough for two as well. We slept so well, while others sweltered, in our air conditioned room. Be sure to check out their breakfast buffet which has a large selection of breads, cereals, fruit, juices, meat & cheese, yogurt, and fresh pastries, plus omelettes and eggs made to order. In the evening, the breakfast area converts into a swanky bar space, perfect for coming back to at the end of a hard day of sightseeing!

Yelp
Loved this hotel in Amsterdam the place was amazing only downfall no restaurant but hotel gladly ordered food in for us. We got shown round the hotel and shown the history before heading to our awesome room with spa bath etc service was amazing and we received a bottle of champagne in our room for our anniversary. 1 thing we were a bit annoyed about was having to pay for the channels on the TV as the room was quite expensive which we didn't mind but the TV should be included in the price of the room. Garden out the back is a silent area where you must be quiet. Doesn't stop the noise of the other neighbours or shouting coming from the bars near by so did not understand this. This hotel was a treat for us but not sure if we would go back as we don't really like going to the same place twice but I would recommend it to other guests as a treat.

Yelp
We had a 5 star experience at this hotel, though not without issue. Our room was amazing - bed comfy, jacuzzi tub that was far more jacuzzi than tub, and wonderful canal views. The decor is trendy, lush, and over the top without being too much. And above all, the service. The bar is wonderfully cozy with a decent selection of drinks. Breakfast is a varied selection of continental and full breakfast items, with a good offering of fresh fruit. We arrived to a very sweet note and small welcome gift from the Toren to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. Everything was neat and orderly until the next morning. Long story short, we found broken glass on our floor. Initial attempts to clean it up missed a few small shards, and I ended up with a very small piece in my foot. No lasting damage, but a bit of a crinkle in our morning plans. However, despite the issues with the glass, we would still gladly give this establishment 5 stars. Their professionalism in handling the situation never left us feeling cheated. We were satisfied with everything they did to address the situation, from enhancing our own stay to talking with staff on how to prevent this situation again, to following up with (another) profuse apology after our departure. We feel confident that our problem was an isolated incident and not something other guests should be concerned about when considering whether to book here or not. Sometimes issues arise at hotels. It's part of the business. It's how a hotel addresses those issues that makes a difference. In this case, it meant that even after we had a problem, we still left enjoying our stay, willing to come back, and more than willing to refer others.

Yelp
Charming hotel. Wonderful location for walking to a lot of nice sites, lots of good restaurants and lovely canal streets. Very charming antique in style hotel. Nice rooms. Friendly & helpful staff. Nespresso is complimentary in room so you can get a quality caffeine fix;) And one of the best hotel bathtubs ever!

Yelp
This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We kept thinking how lucky we were that we found this coming from California. We stayed 3 nights but we wished we had a whole week because the room was wonderful and as we learned about all the things they thought to include in this 400 year old room, it got even better. The bed was comfortable and made good use of a very small room like so many places in Europe. We had a beautiful window overlooking the canal and we could open it and listen to all of the people at night or the rain and thunder, and the church Bells every quarter hour. There is a Nespresso coffee machine with a big box of wonderful Espresso, coffee, and tea. The bathroom was amazing with a large jetted tub and shower. The overloaded us with really great amenities and replaced everything every day including our bathrobes. The minute we arrived, we were met by several great staff including Nisar, who created a map for our Adventures and made reservations for us at museums and tried to help us plan our whole stay and then showed us around the hotel and to our room. We also met the manager, Ellen and other helpful staff like Kevin, and an amazing bartender name Joey. This guy will own his own place someday, I'm betting! Eat the breakfast at the hotel! In fact, eat all the food and enjoy the wonderful bar! We'll be back for a week next time!

Yelp
I have to give the bar at Hotel Toren a five-star rating. This a gorgeously decorated bar in the beautiful boutique hotel located on canal near the Anne Frank Huis. The 17th century building has been renovated into a very chic and luxurious spot. The bartenders and staff where very fun, knowledgeable, and friendly. The artisan cocktails, as recommended by my friends, where unique and amazing! I will go back!! www.thetoren.nl

Yelp
One of these days, I'll actually stay at the Toren. But, since I live in Amsterdam, the chances of that happening are really slim. Until then, I'll just praise them for the wonderful lounge they are. I frequent Hotel Toren in the weekends for a casual and relaxed evening of conversation and fancy cocktails/whisky with company. It is expectedly upscale and still decently priced. The staff loves their customers and try their best to welcome them, irrespective of the amount of time they're prepared to spend in the lobby/lounge. You could spend your time sipping drinks at the lounge, or if the weather is good and you arrive early, enjoy the backyard patio. The hotel is very quite and elegantly decorated. It somehow doesn't belong so close in my neighborhood! If you're looking for a upscale and semi-private location to enjoy evening drinks with special company around the canal belt, look no further than the Toren. You will keep coming back!

Yelp
What a great find. A little off the beaten path but close enough the walk to most anything. Fantastic staff !! Super friendly and very helpful. Everyone was very engaged in the operation of the hotel and making sure you are comfy. Our room was spacious and well set up. Tv, internet on the big screen and through strong wifi. Free espresso, coffee and tea in our room. Free pre check in coccktails, free fresh strawberries, and choclate in room also :) this will be our go to hotel in amsterdam. Keep up the great work.

Yelp
Absolutely deserves its 5 star rating! Being the number 1 rated hotel in Amsterdam on Trip Advisor and with a perfect 5 star rating on Yelp, we had high expectations for Hotel Toren. We were on our Mini-Moon (short version of honeymoon) after our destination wedding in Kruger Park, South Africa. We had 2 nights in Amsterdam and we booked several months in advance. Thankfully so, as it is sold out most of the time I believe. The reservations for Toren followed us up a couple times early on about upgrading our room. We made the call that because we weren't planning on spending a large amount of time in the rooms, that we were happier to save the cash difference and use it around the city. More on that decision soon. Aesthetically, the hotel itself is very elegant and classy without being or trying to be overly pretentious. The staff (EVERY one of them) is outrageously friendly and helpful. We have experienced superb customer service all around the world but it's hard to imagine any to be better than this. There were no lengths they would not go to for customer satisfaction. Their breakfasts were extensive and delicious. Their recommendations were detailed and accurate. The only shortcoming I can lament was the size of the room. As I mentioned earlier we rationally did choose the smaller one based on our projected in-room time. But we didn't realize just how small it was going to be. With our big suitcases constantly in the way, trying to get stuff out of them and effectively store it turned it into a game of Tetris meets an obstacle course. Only other super minor complaint was just how high the bath was. It was like a hurdle getting into it to shower. Now that my negatives are out the way, let me finish with this: BOOK YOUR STAY HERE RIGHT NOW! You will NOT regret it and WILL thank me. Perhaps consider the bigger room is all
google avatar

Yelp
Feel like a local. Great place with a room opening onto the canal and a huge Jacuzzi in the room. Mood lights in red around the poster bed. Memory foam mattress--what a treat. This is NOT a slick, modern hotel--it is much better with a charm to it. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Superb hotel- beautiful facilities, amazing service, and great location. Our room was a bit small but beautifully decorated. The bathroom has a big jacuzzi tub, mirror warming option to help defog, good water pressure and hot shower. The front was very attentive to our needs- they helped us with our luggages, called De Kas restaurant to make reservation, and one gentleman even offered to personally take us to the windmill on his way home. The breakfast was outstanding - expresso coffee, juices, fruits and yogurt, ham and cheeses, croissant, eggs, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms, crepes, you name it! We got a bottle of Moët champagne and chocolate and strawberries in our room when we arrived! What a nice surprise! What a lovely hotel that is exceptional in all aspects!

Yelp
Wonderful! Such a quaint, pretty, comfortable hotel. I can't compliment the staff enough. They really go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. Have a drink in the bar and try a gin concoction by Kevin.
google avatar

Douglas A.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location in central Amsterdam. Delightful place and gorgeous view overlooking a canal. The staff here gets 5 plus stars, extremely helpful and efficient. I won't repeat what other reviewers have said because their remarks about the Toren mirror my experiences. This place couldn't do much better as a boutique hotel. I really don't have anything to kvetch about! I will return here on my next visit without even a thought about another hotel. I would list it in my top ten hotels that I have stayed in worldwide; it is that good. Top 2 or 3 ever for a boutique hotel! While it is not inexpensive, you can get discounts if you book well in advance.

Yelp
Amazing place. 1st time in Amsterdam perfect customer service puts everything I've ever experienced to shame. 3min walk to Tram

Yelp
We are traveling on a month long honeymoon through Europe and stayed at The Toren a few week ago. OMG!! What an amazing experience. The location is perfect! The staff is amazing!!! The hotel and rooms are beautiful!! The bathtub in our room was the coolest bathtub I've ever seen!! We checked in and Julius was so helpful in suggesting some restaurants, bike rentals, etc. He was absolutely the most helpful person during our entire travels through Europe. He actually cares about food and your experience and so instead of just handing you a list of recommendations (which he has available and was helpful), he talks with you about what you're in to and makes appropriate suggestions. Every dinner we had in Amsterdam was at the suggestion of Julius another staff member at Toren...and every dinner is amazing!! They sent up some chocolates and champagne for our honeymoon. (This was becoming a trend as our first two hotels did this as well). However, the chocolates they sent up were unbelievable. The view looked out to one of Amsterdams amazing canals. The street was quiet at night but we still felt like the city was alive. It's close to restaurants and shopping and such, but you never, ever feel even remotely close to tourist hell. (Our new understanding of "tourist hell" can be quickly spotted by a street vendor selling "selfie sticks".) I can't say enough good things about The Toren. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back for a longer stay in Amsterdam. (Oh, just need to slip in that the bed was so comfy!!!) Thank you to all the Staff at The Toren for giving us an amazing few days in your amazing city!!!

Yelp
Loved it here! Will definitely stay here on my next visit. The staff, rooms and service was excellent in all aspects. Highly recommend to all!

Yelp
A wonderful boutique hotel in a charming neighborhood. It was quite a contrast to the ultra-modern in the Red Light District we stayed during the business part of our trip. We were greeted by Gerd, who made the most amazing gin drinks for us in the gorgeous bar area. You MUST take time to sit in the bar and try the infused gin. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great restaurant recommendations and booked the reservations (and changed the time as we were slowly sipping our drinks in the bar enjoying our chats with the staff and residents). Only a small issue was the small bathroom (room 116 - on the angle) and had trouble putting our toiletries bag somewhere. I didn't mark down for that but wanted to set expectations. Bed was very comfortable and the decor was fun. Highly recommend!
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
Very modern compared to other Hotels my girl and I stayed at. This Hotel is one of the more expensive ones in the area; but you get a very clean room, professional staff, and a safe haven. The view of the canal was perfect. Their patio and Bar a really nice touch. Many options nearby for food and fun. The reception was an expert in Parties/things to check out around town. Helped us avoid the bad areas. If you're looking for a solid stay and have the budget, this a great pick.

Yelp
I cannot find fault with anything at The Toren. If you know me and my review history on Yelp, you are shocked to the core at what I originally wrote. The husband and I took a 16-day journey across Europe to celebrate both our birthdays - mine at the beginning of the month, his at the end - and we finished our vacation with 2 days in Amsterdam. I have traveled to Amsterdam many times in the past, but always staying with a friend who would find me rude to even think of choosing to stay at a hotel. I must unfortunately break my friend's heart as I cannot imagine wanting to stay anywhere else in Amsterdam other than The Toren. We arrived to Amsterdam from Brussels via train, and we arrived before the hotel's check-in time. Our room was not ready but we were able to leave our bags and explore the area for a bit. The front desk recommended a fantastic place for lunch--the staff have fantastic recommendations for everywhere in Amsterdam, you need only ask. Upon our return to the hotel, our bags were already brought up to our room, and we had two stemmed glasses of chocolates and fresh strawberries waiting for us. We were also given two complimentary cocktails, all of this after a brief introduction to the hotel and a tour of its amenities. The Toren is situated in an area of Amsterdam that, quite honestly, is where you want to be when visiting the city. The red-light district and all its coffee shops has its novelties, but you feel this immense sense of relief and calm when you are able to leave the novelty behind for a part of the city that is truly gorgeous. The hotel interiors and room decor are decadent. The cocktail lounge and sitting room are gorgeous. If you find yourself in Amsterdam with a rather rainy day on your hands, enjoying The Toren's many amenities is a perfect way to pass the time. I will gladly reserve a room at The Toren when we next travel to Amsterdam. Treat yourself and do the same, you will not regret it.

Yelp
Nice hotel in Amsterdam...central location, everything close by...however its not a 5 star location...may be 4 star at best on a good day...the service was OK...the room were very tight, probably an Amsterdam thing...if u are travelling alone or friends than this place is fine...however the rooms are too tight for families...i expected better with the price we payed...
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
We stayed here for our honeymoon and everything at the Toren was amazing. There was a bottle of Moet and Chandon champagne and strawberries waiting for us in our room. I had also ordered flowers in our wedding colors to be placed in the room and the arrangement far surpassed any expectations I had. It was gorgeous. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, we stayed in the "Garden cottage" which is actually in the courtyard. I loved being a little secluded and looking out the window to see the beautiful flowers in the courtyard. The main building for the hotel is also stunning. The bar was incredible. The staff were extremely accommodating and kind. One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
One of the best hotels we have stayed at in Europe. Our room was large and elaborately decorated with style that was perfect for the location for our family of 4. Our windows looked straight out onto a canal in a quiet and a perfect location to see the city. The staff was beyond friendly and was attentive and concerned with all of our needs and more. The bathroom is probably the largest and nicest bathroom we have ever had in Europe - really no contenders in our experience. We can't recommend this hotel enough and will absolutely stay there again.
google avatar

Christina V.

Yelp
Beautifully appointed boutique hotel in a converted monastery. Sits across from the canal with garden views from the bedrooms. Breakfast was delicious served in their parlor style restaurant. Free, strong wifi and sunken jet stream tubs, memory foam mattresses, luxury linens and located around the corner the Anne Frank museum make this worth the price.
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my stay here. Very helpful staff in booking my day trips and boat rides. Wonderful bar and breakfast. Bartenders really friendly. Room was wonderful. Location was excellent for walking around Amsterdam. Wifi was good. Hope to come back one day. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We went there for few drinks. The hotel has a very cosy bar with a good fresh mint tea. It has a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Great place to meet up with some friends.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great boutique hotel! Friendly staff, lovely room with a canal view, quiet local neighborhood and within 15 minutes' walk of every major attraction in the wonderful city of Amsterdam. When I remarked off-handedly about the workmen re-setting the cobblestone streets at 7am (not upset about it, just making conversation at check-out), the front desk staff immediately called the hotel owner, who knocked 150€ off our bill! Amazing.
google avatar

Chronic C.

Yelp
I have stayed at the Toren now 3 times in so many years. This boutique hotel is the only place I would stay in Amsterdam. Its in the "locals" neighborhood of Jordaan surrounded by great restaurants, boutique shops and neighborhood bars. If you are looking for chain style decor and space, go to the Hilton. This is all about style and charm. The rooms are not spacious but highly functional, cozy yet stately. The staff are highly accommodating. I love the Toren.
google avatar

Yilmaz K.

Yelp
Extraordinary Service On the first day of my stay in Amsterdam, I had a biking accident right in front of the hotel I was staying at, The Toren. The staff immediately came to my rescue and called paramedics. They even drove me to the hospital afterwards and didn't leave me alone for a minute. I haven't seen such amazing service and dedication to the well-being of guests in any other hotel. Every day after the accident the hotel staff would ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything. Very nice people and a great hotel. My small single room had everything I needed during my 5-day stay. A big Thank You to all the Toren staff that made my stay as pleasurable as it was.

Yelp
Best Gin & Tonic I've ever had, I doubted the bartender and tried it and he was right

Yelp
After the yelp pre-halloween party, Saurabh and Vartika took us to this place for another drink. Normally I don't go to the bars at hotels, but for this place I am happy to make an exception! Really like the atmosphere and the decor that they have here. The staff is very attentive and I am sure that this was not my last visit to this place!
google avatar

Ana L.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience. From the front desk to the bellhop...this was first class service. I have a reason to be extremely grateful to them as I had checked out and was in Rotterdam when I realized I had left my very expensive and brand new lighted mirror at the hotel. My husband called them and they located my mirror and made sure it got to the ship before it sailed. I am recommending this hotel to absolutely everyone. If you are going to Amsterdam there is no better place to stay!

Yelp
So far our stay has been amazing. Our room is beautiful with a fantastic jacuzzi tub. The location is very good and the hotel has one of the nicest bars I have ever been to

Yelp
Best experience. It's a very small boutique hotel but it's one of the best. Excellent service, very friendly, clean and good decor.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I (we live in the US) planned a trip to Bruges and Amsterdam. Amid COVID19, The president of US issued an executive order to ban flights from US from Europe. Situation has gotten worse after that-our state has Shelter in Place order. Obviously we had to cancel the trip. We have contacted the hotel 3 times at this point attempting to cancel and receive refund. We were told NO the first time, as according to their policy diseases and flight ban is apparently not good enough reason to issue refund. The other 2 requests have been ignored. Mind you our hotel in Bruges cancelled our reservation with no issues. THIS HOTEL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU! They only care about their bottom line. This pandemic will subside, like all the others, and travel will resume. For my future trip to Amsterdam I will NOT be staying at The Torren and urge you not to as well! If things go wrong, dont expect them to care.

Yelp
This hotel is just fabulous. Excellent location, awesome service, friendly and hospitable staff, and have I mentioned the great location? I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Yelp
My husband and I took the train from Paris to visit Amsterdam for the first time; I chose The Toren based on some excellent reviews at a travel site. Amsterdam is compact, however, this hotel is so well-located. It's just a few minutes walk to the Anne Frank Huis and the Westertoren church as well as to the other districts and landmarks. The hotel itself is very rich in dark colors that some other guests have likened to a bordello. I suppose it depends on one's impressions as it's a boutique hotel. We booked a deluxe room with a whirlpool bath. The room was quite small but well equipped and fine for a two night stay. As for the staff they were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We took their breakfast which was served in what was originally the drawing room. It was very beautiful especially with its chandelier. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Nice hotel, wonderful bar. Our room was small but cozy. Everyone was super nice that we dealt with. But the bar is an oasis to savor. Each night we were there, we stopped at the bar for "a" nightcap and just felt so relaxed and comfortable we lingered into the wee hours. I'm sure the bartender would liked to have gone home (or, more likely, gone out) but, hey, it's his job. He certainly never made us feel that way. After a night out in Amsterdam it sure was nice to relax in a quiet funky little spot. And then to relax and awake in our charming little room.

Immaculate bar. Great service. Historical building preserved as it should be. Would highly suggest.

Yelp
I highly recommend staying here! The location is perfect. One block from Anne franks house, 2 blocks from the beautiful canals, where there are cruises showing you around the city. Along with beautiful cafes all over.

Yelp
While the stay was pricey, we really did get what we paid for. My wife and I honeymooned here for multiple nights. The staff was simply amazing. They helped with every silly question we ha, and even provided us with shuttle tickets right at the front desk. The bar tender sat down and conversed with us for a good half hour, right after he made one of the best drinks I have ever had. The hotel is just off the beaten path which makes things nice if you want to visit quieter cafes and bars. The best part however was the in room Jacuzzi. Clean, big, and very relaxing.

Yelp
The bummer about staying here is that at some point you'll realize that you'll have to leave. That was a bit depressing. Yes, the other reveiwer said she'll pray for a return and so shall I. Obviously a hotel like this with top reveiws on Tripadviser will be wonderful. That is what I expected for the price. It really didn't dissapoint in any way. The only good surprise was that although it's right in the center of everything, it happens to be on a pretty quiet street. Some hotels near the center of the "half circle" city center so to speak are in quite loud neighborhoods. Although everything was top-notch, it was the service that stood out the most. I got the impression almost nothing was out of the question from the lovely staff. One night I had terrible heartburn and asked if they had anything for that or where I should go to get it. The staff member insisited on going out (in the rain) and getting it and said he was going there anyway. Not sure if he was. He did and I was so grateful. This is how it went for 4 nights. Yes, we paid quite a bit, but I can say I don't regret it at all. Will certainly be returning. Thank you, Toren for great memories. They are priceless.
