The Payback

It’s a neat space. The drink selection is great. But what sold me was the food. Seriously. The deviled eggs were awesome and the steak sandwich was AMAZING. It’s a perfect spot for a quick lunch in downtown Oakland, then back to work for a few hours and return for happy hour & dinner.

I think this place is brand new, it still smells like fresh paint in here. I came with a small group for book club after work on a Wednesday, and the place was popular but not too loud to have a discussion about the book. They have a happy hour special which is $2 off draft beers; I think they have other specials as well but that's all I was interested in. The service was a bit slow; we were standing up at the bar waiting to order for what seemed like forever, even though it didn't seem like they were slammed. We ordered some olives to nosh on, and it took them like 10 minutes to get to us, even though they were just olives. We also got chips and french onion dip; the chips appeared to be freshly made which was great, but the proportions were off (way too few chips for the amount of dip that was given). The deviled eggs were delish. Overall, a good experience! Will probably come back.

Great cocktails, super courteous staff, and plenty of open seating. Amazing new bar conveniently located in downtown Oakland. Lots of beer selection, a skeeball machine, and comfortable bar seats! Definitely a hip new spot for the friends to grab a drink with. Looking forward to billiard tables.

Poor customer service. I arrived on a somewhat rainy Friday night around 11:45; it wasn't busy, so took a seat at the bar. I sat there for five minutes or so, watching four members of the bar staff mill around, chatting with each other, before anyone acknowledged me. I ordered the wings, which were really good, & a Fort Point IPA. It's a cute space, so I'll try them again.

Went out here last night because I heard it was a cool spot. Couple of my homies who are women, were being harassed by a random guy. Escalated to him throwing his drink on one of them. Security and Management refused to do anything. Probably the last time we are gonna go here.

Great food and really interesting, creative drinks! The bartenders here are really friendly and put in a lot of effort to make sure you get the perfect drink and have a great time.

Soooo good. Definitely get the burger. And the prices are reasonable. This spot just opened about a month or two ago. I'm excited to see what happens when the other floors open. I hope there's some pinball.

I came on the wrong day. Cool atmosphere. But short staffed. I gave up on trying to order food and a cocktail. Was barely able to get a glass of wine. Guess I shouldn't come out early Friday evening.
