⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Trip Over the Rainbow at The Pennant
If Dorothy herself had wandered down Kansas Avenue, she might’ve clicked her heels and declared, “There’s no place like The Pennant!”
To celebrate a milestone—nearly three years at work—I took my wife and five kids to this marvelous place, where the spirit of Oz has settled like golden dust. The Pennant’s Wizard of Oz pop-up, running from March 9 to April 14, has turned their upstairs into the Flying Monkey Tavern, a playful tribute to the Land of Oz.
Themed drinks like the Ruby Sipper and Flying Monkey Martini sparkle with creativity, while the decor hints at twisters, yellow brick roads, and far-off Emerald dreams. For Hayden, who adores all things Oz, it was as if the Wizard himself had waved a wand to make the evening unforgettable. Just last week, we’d been enchanted by The OZ Museum in Wamego, but this was something else—alive, buzzing, and right in the heart of Topeka.
We dined like munchkins at a banquet, the food every bit as delightful as the atmosphere. The staff, friendly as Glinda, made us feel right at home, and the laughter and joy swirling around the table felt like pure magic.
The Pennant has conjured a spellbinding experience with their Oz-inspired transformation. Whether you’re a fan of the classic tale or just craving an adventure, this is one stop along the Yellow Brick Road you won’t want to miss.
We'll be back, and who knows? Maybe next time, we’ll find ourselves dancing with the Lollipop Guild.
