"The People’s Strasbourg location once again proves my theory that the best cheeseburgers are actually made, confoundingly, in France (it’s all that Comté cheese), perfect with a glass of local Alsatian Crémant." - Mackenzie Filson

I stayed just one night here with my young daughter. We had a private room which was excellent, with a very comfortable bed and a large shower with plenty of hot water. The only thing that would have been nice is a chair in the room; there was only a bed and a rack for hanging clothes. The hostel is located in an old tobacco factory, which is also a centre for cultural events, studios, bars, restaurants and creative workspaces. On the Friday night the large central courtyard was alive with locals meeting and chatting, which was great. The building is in a perfect part of town, a short walk from the cathedral island but over the canal and in the neighbourhood that is far less touristy and more a place for interesting little shops, local restaurants and beautiful squares to explore. The hostel has been built carefully with good noise isolation, so while there were bands playing downstairs we heard only the faintest rumble. It was great to be somewhere so comfortable but also lively. And because the central courtyard is not accessible to cars, children can play their safely. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, with a huge selection of pastries, breads, cereals, fresh quiche and fruit. The staff were all helpful and really friendly. I’d certainly recommend it to travellers of all ages; young, with family or elderly.

Femal solo traveler here. I stayed at The People from December 24-27, it was obviously a busy season but the hostel was well kept even so. I found it to have a great location since it was only a short walk to the Cathedral. It is also accessible by tram. The location is also close to the area full of asian restaurants, a good find!!! The in-house restaurant/bar was okay though the breakfast buffet felt lacking. A little more selection would've been better. The staff were nice and I even had a chat with the cleaning service lady in my room. The room I stayed in was a 6-bed mixed dormitory with an en suite sink. It was spacious and the amenities were good. There were no lockers however. The common bathroom was also good, there were enough cubicles for the ladies. I would suggest having a hair dryer in it though. Overall, The People is a hostel I would recommend. It felt like a hotel already. This is a good place for people planning to stay during the Christmas season.

Stayed in the middle of a heatwave so I guess it’s not fair but the rooms were incredibly hot due to the lack of AC. However, the common areas were really great and the staff were very fun and accommodating (especially Yue). Also, the music was very good.

I really can't complain. Though I only stayed one night I absolutely loved it there. The Rooms were clean, the beds had plugs, light you could dimm and enough space for your things. The people were super friendly and the location was great because it's so central and there was a tram station near by. Can definitely recommend!

Really nice hostel with a great location and a modern style restaurant/breakfast area. Bus and trams stops are around if needed but you can easily walk to all major hotspots from here. Only thing I did not like was, again, the bathroom/shower situation. I stayed in a 6bed dorm with no en-suite bathroom. There is only one combined room of showers and toilets on every floor. It was crowded at times.

Loved this place! First time in a hostel, but definitely a positive, safe experience. I appreciate the curtains on the beds. Amazing location, too!

The room was awful—surprisingly large, but unbearably hot. I was sweating just brushing my teeth in the morning. For a private room, it was overpriced compared to much better places I stayed across Europe. The staff were kind, but charging €4 for two croissants and tea felt cheap—it could’ve easily been included. There was no real social atmosphere. It felt cliquey, with a big language barrier, very few international travelers, and tons of kids running around constantly. Sleep was nearly impossible, which was frustrating since this was supposed to be a relaxed part of my long trip where I could rest and catch up on work. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The Wi-Fi barely worked, there was no desk in the room, and no option to work privately unless I sat in the bar. The bed was two uncomfortable twin mattresses pushed together—not a real queen. On top of the heat, it made sleeping even worse. Like 80* in my room according to my watch, and remained hot all night long. Honestly unbearable. There was no kitchen, no laundry, and no fridge in my room—or at least none that I could find. The bar closes around midnight (earlier when I was there), and after that, the only common space is the outdoor seating. The place looks great when you first walk in, modern lobby, updated hallways, but the rooms fall way short. The shower leaked everywhere due to terrible design, and they only gave me one towel. I actually slipped coming out of the shower, so definitely throw an extra towel on the floor to avoid getting hurt. This place feels more like a poorly managed hotel than a hostel. It’s overrun with school kids and families, not ideal for solo travelers or anyone looking to meet people or enjoy a fun night out in Strasbourg. I genuinely would not recommend it. They have a ton of potential here, if they add an AC box in the rooms (mind you i have stayed in places in third world countries with in room AC for like $10 a night), make it easier to be more social and possibly add some coin operated laundry- it'd be a 10/10

The showers are so hot they scald and aren't adjustable, and the rooms have zero AC even when its 29°C. When we brought this to the staffs' attention they said they had no power to do anything? The food was also very bad, it took 40 minutes to arrive and arrived cold, we had seen it sat under a heat lamp for about 10 minutes before my friend went and asked for it, again when we complained about cold food we weren't really offered any compensation. The beds also aren't the most comfortable, I've had a bad back for 2 days. However the rooms are clean and the location is great.
