The Peri Peri Grill - Review - Downtown Atlanta - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"After staring at whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium, you might not be hungry for aquatic life. So head across the street for an African-Portuguese lunch menu that doesn’t have a single seafood item on it. Solidarity. Plus, Peri Peri Grill keeps company with a small number of downtown locations where you can get a big lunch for less than $15. Snag one of their enormous rice bowls, which is  essentially a naked burrito with seasoned rice, beans, lettuce, and chicken (or falafel) with your choice of spice level. Or opt for a juicy whole- or half- chicken with five sauce options (the hot adds just the right amount of heat). This chicken isn’t remarkable enough to memorialize, but for a quick, casual lunch downtown it’ll do the job. Food Rundown Jumbo Fried Wings These aren't making any best wings lists, but they're tender and fall off the bone pretty easily. The red chili sauce is sticky, so grab extra napkins if you get that sauce. Chicken Wrap It's a pretty standard wrap with grilled chicken, your choice of sauce, and plenty of lettuce, so you can pretend you're eating a vegetable. Plus, it's grilled on one side, which we dig. Chicken Rice Bowl It's basically a naked burrito. The rice, beans, corn, and chicken are well seasoned, and the hot sauce makes things more interesting—in a good way. Deluxe Peri Beef Burger Get this if you're a chicken hater because the beef patty isn't the best, but everything else going on with this burger is legit. There's a fried hash brown that somehow didn't put us into carb overload." - Juli Horsford

Google
I have mixed feelings about this café. On one hand, it looked nice and recently renovated, The food seemed fresh, but the next day I felt really sick and had diarrhea. Maybe it was the over-fried chicken skin or something else in the food — I’m not sure, but it was a very unpleasant experience.

The food was excellent. I ordered the loaded chicken fries, there is a steak option too, but it was the best loaded fries I’ve had. There are great food options that are mostly chicken but totally worth it. I love trying new places and this was definitely a hit with me. Try it out!!

The location was hot inside, and the tables were gross. The girl at the register was rude and acted like she didn't want to help. We had to have our food redone multiple times. The first time they mixed the sauces. The second time it was still spicy - I love spicy, but I'm on medication that doesn't allow spicy food - I let the staff know, and they failed to let us know the marinade on the chicken is spicy. There is also something in the Pico that adds a kick. I got the side corn and it tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. If you're on medicine, can't tolerate spice, and prefer fresh corn: this isn't the place for you. The manager was nice and tolerated us the whole time, but the girl had an opinion when no one was talking to her. Edit: reading the other reviews, the owner was a smart ass to another post about how they strive for cleanliness, so I'm adding pictures of how gross it is.

The chicken was very dry and the sauce lacked flavor. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was very nice. Still, you don't have to eat here, and they were the worst fries I've ever had.

They are so wonderful. They answer all my questions when I have them regarding the menu. They inform you regarding the favors and how they are added to your meal. My favorite thing is the bowl. I work in the area and I come here often. I love the fact that they have a sink in the dining area allowing guest to wash their hands without having to go in a restroom.

Google
Just gross. We were excited to try this place after going to the aquarium, but nothing we ordered looked like the photos on the menu. Drinks were kid sized and $2.99 each. The $6.99 kids meal doesn't come with any drink, so it's really $10 for a kids meal. The loaded fries are just topped with cheap nacho cheese and a few jalapenos. The tomato on my sandwich didn't have the top cut off or cored out. The barbeque sauce tasted like Rays BBQ sauce poured out of the bottle. The top half of the restaurant was closed, but no one was cleaning the bottom half of the restaurant that was open. Trays, dirty tables and trash was on the floor. $70 wasted for a family of four.

Absolutely delicious! I cannot recommend this place enough. I came here for lunch during a recent trip, and wish there was one of these where I live. Lots of options and depending on what you get, healthier than most fast food places.

Google
This restaurant has such good energy! If you’re visiting Atlanta, you have to stop here. I got the chicken and rice bowl. It did not disappoint. I’m not sure if they put magic on their fries but be sure to ask for extra.

Yelp
So I came to this place for an event and it was actually okay. I was able to try the chicken and rice. The chicken wings were also pretty good. I hear that the burgers were solid but I did not get a chance to get one of those unfortunately. The chicken sandwich wasn't really that great, I mean it wasn't the worst, but it did get a little chewy as I ate it so I don't know if I actually finished the sandwich.. They make their own sauces in house and the sauce is actually were fired! If nothing else, those were good. The way is set up is there is an upstairs area that could be used for maybe a private event kind of situation, not super private because it's not enclosed but it is isolated because it's a level. And there is a ordering and waiting area and then there's a downstairs area that has the majority. So if you're coming to pick up you won't be crowded and if you are coming to eat you still have seats available. Now the parking is downtown parking, is what you would expect. So don't go there looking for free parking because as kind of laughable in the city of Atlanta.

Yelp
The floor is unbelievably slippery!!!! The fries are extremely thick. They taste raw in the middle. Chicken sandwich was good but extremely messy

Yelp
It was Ramadan when we went and there were 10 minutes to iftar and we walked in and thru tell us they are closed so we asked why and they said they have a catering order if someone were to drive an hour and a half for this (we did) then what we were all starving and online it says they close at 9 so we had no worry's but no I would never recommend and I am never coming back

Yelp
I was very excited about the Yelp Elite event being held here based on their published menu. Upon arrival the smell is great food was in the air. I had a chicken rice bowl, peri peri rice with chicken and wings. My favorite foods tasted were the wings It had a wonderful smokey flavor with a sweet barbecue flavor. I could've eaten more and more of those. Additionally, the owners of the restaurant were very welcoming and treated us all like their very honored guest. There was public parking very close to the restaurant at the Hilton Garden Inn. I'm looking forward to visiting this location again.

Yelp
This location chicken was very chewy. I spend $80 on food and $40 for parking. Not happy at all. I will never come back. I'll just go to DC and eat Nandos there. All it was grilled chicken with sauce on top. Very unhappy with the food. I have to throw away 4 plates that we ordered. Other guest around my table had to say the same things about the place. I love Nandos. I have eaten there more than 20 times but the food is always good. I'll just take a flight to Washington DC and eat Nando there. Don't waste your time here at Peri Peri Grill. I had two kids we were very hungry. We arrived there around 7 o'clock. We're out in like 20 minutes. Had to go spend my money somewhere else because the kids were still hungry.

Yelp
Located in downtown Atlanta, a really great place to eat after a day at the aquarium or the Coke Museum. A short walk away. The owners work really hard to make sure the food is cooked just right. The burgers are the best thing on the menu, they provide the most bang for your buck. They are saucy and the hash browns on the burger really make it. The wings and the bowls are flavorful and delicious. The peri peri chicken is good but more worth it if you get one of the larger platters and split it. I'd love to come back and try more on their menu!

Yelp
The peri peri crispy May chicken burger was large and had a wonderful taste. Split it with a friend and then we were able to choose two different spice levels for our sauce for it!

Yelp
Service is great, ambiance is good, food is alright. They should chill with the sauces :)

Yelp
The food was horrible, chicken was super chewy and dry, fries were cold, wings weren't cook all the way. Over all the was crap. Sorry but that's the best word I could use. I would never go back there and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Lots of other guests eating there were complaining about the same thing!

Yelp
Mediocre food. Expensive. Poor service. I had to order from a kiosk. I ordered falafel and a chicken quesadilla to go. The quesadilla was supposed to come with a sauce and I ordered an extra sauce. Neither of the sauces were in the bag. Disappointing
