The Best Bars in Bux-Mont | Eater Philly

"Before the days of gasoline engines and television, the South Perkasie Hotel was a way station for merchants traveling between the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia. Since then, it has been transformed into a bustling spot serving up great food and drink at good prices. Standout fare like the honey sriracha chicken sandwich separates the Perk from the pack. Stop in to see the crew of friendly bartenders and enjoy the new pub section adorned with a wall of windows." - Sam Herring

Absolutely amazing. Loved loved loved the staff , food, menu , ambiance. Everything is 7 star. And to top it all off it’s established in 1854 so you’re basically sitting in an eatery which has been there around 200 years. Must be really good to stay this busy since 1854 right.

This place is a gem! Stephanie the bartender is amazing, attentive, and very helpful with the menu. Her personality is entertaining as well! The food was delicious and inexpensive for what we got. Both of us got fish dishes, one with chips and the other with fries. The fries could have been crispier but the chips were decent!

I hate that I can't remember our waitress' name but I want to say Mandy and she was amazing (I know she has been a waitress a long time because she told us)! We came in with a baseball team, had limited time and she went to work. I have had so many servers give attitude at the sight of teams coming in to eat together, not her. She did it gracefully and didnt miss a thing. We are a travel team so finding places for all of us is hard. We thank you for accommodating our team and for the wonderful service you gave us.

This is a great cozy place. It was a Sunday night (music bingo) and quite busy. We had about a 30 min wait. The staff was friendly and professional. The waitress recommended the loaded BBQ cheese fries and I'm so glad she did. They were fantastic! Very generous portion. My son had the sriracha honey chicken sandwich (very large filet) . It was crispy and the perfect combo of sweet & spicy. I had the flat steak and was less impressed. It wasn't a bad cut of meat but the flavor was seriously lacking. I shouldnt need A1 to make the steak taste like something. My Curtis cocktail was delicious though (hints of chocolate/PB/khaluha). Overall, a good first experience and worth a trip back.

Google
We usually have a meal here when visiting family. We have eaten here about 5 times over the last 9 months. Food is always great and the staff is patient and helpful with the menu and service. If there was something to improve on, it would be the noise. When the restaurant is full of people, the noise is a bit distracting and hard to hear others talking at your table. This won’t keep me from going back though!

Google
Love the food here with a lot of nice choices. This place is very busy when other places are half full. Be prepared to wait a while for your table. The bar is a nice place to wait and it has some nice beer selections. I had the soup special one night and it was the best soup I ever had. Love the New Orleans pasta.

Google
We had Becca as our server two times. I remembered her very well from the first time. I requested her our 2nd time! So easy to talk to and very friendly. Very good at her job as well!!! The place is clean (including the bathrooms) A lot of choices for food and beverages at reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

Google
Our first visit and, quite frankly, may be our last. Let me start by saying we are new to the area, and as we are familiarizing ourselves, this place came up by the locals. The service was very good. The atmosphere was nice.I The food, however, was not. My wife ordered the crab cakes that were undercooked. We asked the server to take it back, and 6 seconds later, she said that's how they are made. Needless to say, it had a ton of mayo in the middle, and the crab meat came right out of the can. Her mashed potatoes were sitting in garlic oil. I ordered the shrimp and scallops with papperdelle. Way to much paste versus seafood ratio. The red roasted peppers had the consistency of a canned variety. Mine was edible, but my wife's was horrible. Salad had one sliced tomato on a saucer plate, and her Margherita was served in a drinking glass meant for water. We were very disappointed. 2 stars for Service and Atmosphere only.

Yelp
I haven't been to the perk in years. Probably before Yelp was even born . We went on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The dining room was busy, but there was plenty open spots in the bar, so we picked a high top table. My husband got the chili which was kind of watery and loaded with tomatoes. The taste was good though. He also got the Turkey BLT (without the t) and that came on an artisan wheat bread. There was lots of turkey, but he said it was "ok". I had their signature Roast Beef and it was incredible. It basically melted in your mouth. Probably the best I've ever had. Another person in our party got the spicy margarita, very tasty and not overly spicy. He also got the honey sriracha chicken and had nothing but great things to say about it. Overall, a clean establishment, the service was great and the food was really good. We will be back!

Yelp
Found ourselves in this tiny town during lunch and thanks to Yelp ended up at the Perk. Located in an older building, it has lots of rooms and an odd layout. I noticed as I walked that the floor wasn't level so do be careful. It's loud inside, and obviously very popular. We had to wait to be seated for lunch on a Saturday. I would consider this a pub/restaurant as they have a bar and it has a pub feel. The menu consisted of pub fare and had a nice variety. Service was slow, but they were really busy. I bet we waited a good 40 + minutes for sandwiches and burgers. And speaking of burgers, mine was delicious! The flavor was on point, and the size very generous. It was cooked to perfection. I *almost* couldn't eat it all. The misses for me were the wait to dine in and also to order as it wasted a good part of our day, especially when you're waiting to sit and there's no place out of the way to stand. The floors thru me off a bit, especially walking to the restroom. I felt like I was on a ship. The water had a metallic taste, like a filter needed changed, and the parking lot is a mess; small and hard to maneuver in, but there is ample street parking. Considering this rural area and limited options, I could see why this is a hit.

Yelp
The food is always delicious! I love the old small town vibes of the building; staff also give off welcoming energy. I recommend this to anyone local looking for a new, non-chain restaurant. Additionally, it remains a great restaurant to visit if you're in the area from out of town.

Yelp
I recently visited there after being out of town for several years and was extremely disappointed with the food. I had wonderful memories of years in that restaurant. I ordered the egg rolls. They had no beef in them. And the juice was watery. I also ordered the eggplant sandwich which, had zero flavor. I brought it to the managers attention and she was gracious enough to take the eggrolls off my bill. The pierogies were good. There were six in my party and we decided that we will meet somewhere else next time.

Yelp
The Perk. Located on the corner of South Main St and East Walnut street in Perkasie is a friendly family restaurant. Street parking can be a challenge but just a block away across the street they have a parking lot. The exterior is beautifully set up with flowers and benches. The best descriptor for the food here is home style. The Perk is not a gourmet experience but rather a trip to your aunts house. A place the local teams come to celebrate wins and families enjoy a meal they didn't have to cook at home. There is plenty of seating in several dining rooms along with a room with a full bar. We've come a handful of times now and they are consistent. The service and staff are always pleasant, friendly and eager to please. Even the patrons most time are locals and engage in conversation from their table to yours. For a true comfort food home away from home meal the Perk is for you.

Yelp
A nice little place to come with friends or family. The service is friendly and quick to respond to requests which is appreciated. I started off with an order of the wings and they were great. Perfectly crispy and very saucy. For my main course I had the Walnut St. Burger and it was okay. Not bad, but it lists having a sause on the burger and I didn't taste it. The chips it came with were also good, but they could use some sort of salt or seasoning in my opinion. My girlfriend had the BBQ Pork Fries and she liked them, but couldn't finish them because the portion was so big. If you're looking for a nice family pub experience then I would give this place a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yelp
Wow, the Perk has come a long way. The town of Perkasie is much better than I remember from growing up around here in the 80's and 90's. Drinks range from $7 - $12 and include a nice selection of major brand liquors. Our teen servers (hostesses, etc.) mostly seem to be Pennridge students. The French Onion soup is wonderful - not too salty and so rich and cheesy. I also enjoyed the Crabcake dinner platter. My friend got the plain grilled salmon (the also have a maple butter salmon) and it looked perfectly cooked. We shall return! They were pretty crowded on a Thursday night. They do NOT take reservations, but we gave our name and got a table in about 12 minutes.

Yelp
Major disappointment during my last two visits to one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Last visit the chicken sandwich was very tough , should have been returned but wasn't. Last night we had one five star meal and one 1 star meal unfortunately. The flat iron steak dinner was great , mashed potatoes were excellent as was the mixed vegetables. The New England clam chowder was phenomenal, loaded with clams and delicious. The pasta special Chicken a la vodka pappardelle was a disaster. The. Pink vodka sauce was just ok , definitely would never get it again but the chicken was tough and inedible. Shocking the kitchen clearly sent out precooked, at least a day or two old , chicken in a pasta dinner. Manger was great and offered another choice and removed from the bill and offered a complimentary desert. Chose the carrot cake and it was honestly not very good, definitely would never order again. Perk wasn't very perky last night , still live the perk though!!!

Yelp
Came in this evening after trying to get into the Free Will Brewery. It was pretty settle in here. We ordered a few drinks and dinner. Service was great. Waitress was quick and friendly. Food was served hot and fresh. Great place nestled in downtown Perkasie

Yelp
We found ourself in Perkasie, PA and were so happy we stumbled upon The Perk. A hometown restaurant at its finest- with delicious food and a great vibe inside. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and we enjoyed our chicken cheesesteak and burger! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had a huge salad for $7.99 what a bargain!! Delicious fresh and filling!! It would have been great to add chicken or shrimp or beef!!

Yelp
Great place with great food in Perkasie, good for families and casual outings with friends. It is not too expensive, there is a full bar and "American" style food. It is very popular so allow time if you go.
google avatar

Aleisha P.

Yelp
A reputable talk of the town American cuisine restaurant with history and nostalgia. Perfect for the family night out or visit the bar with your sweetie or fly solo. The interior design has recently been updated and is kept modern looking while hosting a quaint and casual with a classic small town ambience. Food is award winning.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and cheap as well compared to most other restaurants. Had brisket and was delicious. Enough for a second meal. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Lachlan B.

Yelp
New menu is very good but service is very bad and the food takes a very long time for it to get there to be exact 2 hours

Jon F.

Yelp
Still trying to figure out the allure. Went on a Sunday. It wasn't busy. Ordered potato skins, soup special and flatbread pizza special. Nothing was very warm and all was bland - pizza reminded me of Ragu pizza sauce on a Thomas' English muffin with American cheese melted on top. My son ordered steak with mashed potatoes and got buttered whole potatoes. Steak was so so on flavor. Pretty much overrated bar food.

Yelp
WOW!! What a gem! Out of town from LA. Very glad a found this place. The Cheesesteak was excellent and good local beer on tap! Small town good food home warming environment.

Yelp
We love the Perk!! The menu has so many options. The specials are always so good and very creative! The bar area has a fun atmosphere while the rest of the restaurant is very family friendly!

Yelp
Great tavern food with terrific service and quality. Best French onion soup I've ever had. Good cheese steaks.
google avatar

Bobby L.

Yelp
Great food and service. Everyone is really nice and friendly. Just wish the bar seating was larger.
google avatar

Cindy D.

Yelp
Delicious! The menu is extensive, but with a family of six, that's not a bad thing. There was something for everyone. Two in our family ordered cheese steaks - both excellent. Others ordered the BLT, the Chicken Patm sandwich and the Perk burger... all very good. I ordered the Southwestern Salad with grilled chicken and a side of guacamole (it was perfect with those two add-ones). The homemade chips that came as sides on the sandwich orders tasted great with the guacamole too.

Yelp
A little bit of history while dining. The prices were incredible as was the food. We had a friendly waitress and overall everyone we came across was very nice.

Yelp
I like the Perk. I found it on a recent bar crawl. I'll be back.

Yelp
I live right by the Perk so I'm frequently here. I loveee the cob salad and carousel burger, they're my all time favorites. The window seating is my favorite I love to watch the cars go by :)

Yelp
Nice and quiet place to relax. Good service, although I was disappointed by the pace of service given.

Yelp
Best place to eat/drink in the town of Perkasie. Everything there is delicious and the staff is excellent. A true staple of the community. A+++

Yelp
We were at The Perk Saturday March 11, 2023 for dinner. The wait was long, But I was able to acquire a bar seat. We ordered apps, 1 was chicken tenders with Honey Sriracha sauce, yum. Once seated service was fast. Our server Ryan was very attentive and extremely efficient. We had a variety of food, flat iron steak, crab cakes, salmon and Honey chicken sandwich. All were delicious! We also had desserts! This is a very well ran establishment, with very hard working employees. Prices were great and overall a great experience. Thank you!

Jeannette D.

Yelp
I really don't understand what the whole hype with this restaurant is about. We waited almost an hour for a table at four something waited very long for the food which I understand. They were busy but it's nothing to talk about very bland. Very generic wasn't worth the wait.

Sue Anne R.

Yelp
Bonjour - Our family and friends love coming here for dinner :) I love the flat iron steak with soup salad and mashed potatoes and asparagus :)

Arthur K.

Yelp
The service is awesome by friendly, knowledgeable staff that actually listen. The food is outright delicious. The ambiance was casual and with a full house was not too noisy.
google avatar

Paige G.

Yelp
There's an option here for everyone. We always enjoy the burgers and salads. Service is great and portions are generous. Also a pleasant experience here.

Yelp
The Perk has successfully turned their parking lot into an outdoor dining garden complete with beautiful Japanese bonsai specimens from Bucks Bonsai landscapers. With large umbrellas and heating towers, it is a pleasant place to have a late lunch on a chill Saturday afternoon with the sun casting it's golden hue. This is a great place to enjoy the Borough of Perkasie, a tight community in northwest Bucks. I sat with the sun at my back and ordered a Blue Moon draft, French Onion Soup and Sauteed Pierogi from their appetizer menu. I also asked for takeout of Crab Cake and Chicken Parm sandwiches for my working family. The beer was served in a soft plastic glass with orange slice split over the rim. Cool and refreshing. The beef broth and translucent onions were very good once I pierced the thick layer of melted provolone that sealed the steaming contents of the of the potage d'oignon gratinee. Liked it alot. The pierogi arrived in a styro container. There were four homemade potato pasta pockets that had been sauteed in butter and thin sliced browned onions. These were excellent, and I would have loved if there were one or two more in the box. Still, it was an appetizer, not an entree, so I understood they were designed more as a delicious tease than main course. Last night, my wife and stepson came home to the crab cake and chicken parm. After a short reheat I sampled both and found them to be superior sandwiches. The crab cake was fresh, sweet and housed in a brioche roll. The parmigiana was a thick chicken breast, well breaded, with a decent red gravy and melted cheese. Very good. Both came with house deep fried potato chips. Nicely done. The Perk is an anchor establishment in Perkasie, and well worth the travel from home to stop in now and then. If we lived closer, I would no doubt be a regular.

Natalie N.

Yelp
Only downside is how busy it gets. Go early, at 4, for dinner. Great food, reasonable prices, and lovely staff.

Tammie R.

Yelp
Food is always delicious and they are always willing to give extra sauce/less sauce. Whatever our tastes asks for it ends up PERFECT! Staff, very friendly, and although extremely busy at times.... On top of everything! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Katrina L.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our lunch at The Perk. My only complaint is that the packaging was incredibly wasteful for outdoor dining (plastic utensils in plastic packaging, styrofoam cups, plastic to-go boxes in a plastic bag) - I wish we would have chosen indoor dining for this reason - but they do have a nice outdoor space. I ordered the chicken orzo soup (the soup special of the day) and the southwest salad - the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, and I loved the salsa and ranch (comes on the side). My husband ordered the meatball pomodoro sandwich and it was also delicious. I would definitely eat here again and ideally enjoy some of their beers - they seemed to have a great selection.
google avatar

Beck B.

Yelp
OMG, the food is deliciousand reasonable. The wait staff exceptional. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Meridith E.

Yelp
The Perk is a staple when we visit Perkasie. It has something for everyone. We usually get the Buffalo chicken sandwich on a hoagie, pirogies, any of the burgers, or the veggie grinder. All delicious!

Robyn G.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Becca the server was outstanding. thanks for a great experience.

Laura R.

Yelp
We go to The Perk regularly for a meal out as I dont want fast food or the prices of fancy restaurants The Perk gives you delicious food at an affordable price with a great environment I highly recommend though if you are hungry or have to eat in a specific time that you call ahead for a reservation as there is typically a wait time due to high demand

Karen O.

Yelp
Great service & good size portions. Lunch was delicious Grilled Chicken Sandwich French Onion Soup
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
We went on a busy Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We have kids and our server was more than patient and efficient with her service. We waited about 15 minutes for a table but no biggie at all. The atmosphere is cute and cozy! We had wings, the pretzel, French onion soup, fries, a burger, kids hot dog and pizza. Everything was delicious. Came out hot and tasted great. Especially for the price. My husband had draft beer and it was crispy cold! Will be back for sure! I love that it's family friendly too. I'd support a local place like this over a chain any day!!
google avatar

Frank S.

Yelp
What a wonderful hidden gem. The roast beef sandwiches are the very best we have ever had. Anywhere. The service is top notch and the bar and seating area are beautiful and full of local history. Its a must visit
google avatar

Kylie B.

Yelp
Great selection of food from The Perk - something for everyone. The sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo were so tasty and crisp, maple salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes was a great meal, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream all at a reasonable price. Our waitress was very attentive making sure that we were taken care of the whole time. Nice little local spot in Perkasie - would definitely come back the next time we are in town.
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere. Best roast beef sandwich around!!
google avatar

Myly N.

Yelp
Didn't like that they didn't take reservations. The wait for us was 45 minutes long. The bar area was super packed on a Friday evening. The appetizers were great - hot and tasty! Good portion sizes. We ordered the beer battered onion rings (yum!), Old Bay fries (with cheese sauce that we wanted more of because it was so good) and the giant Bavarian pretzel (tasty and fun to share and came with that delicious cheese sauce). The entrees were simple pub fare. Nothing stood out there except the mac and cheeses (regular and buffalo mac) were really tasty. We had enough for leftovers and was happy for it!

Sean L.

Yelp
Always a safe bet for a good dinner. The wait times can get a bit much during a dinner rush but they are rarely over 30 minutes. Cold beer and great food. Cheesesteaks are a favorite.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
We have never been disappointed by any of our choices. We have taken friends and family their many times and have completely enjoyed the food and attentive staff
