Nestled on Stock Island, the Perry Hotel dazzles with chic, nautical-inspired rooms and a vibrant dining scene, all just a stone's throw from Key West's charm.
"On Stock Island, so close to Key West’s eastern shore that you could literally throw a stone from one to the other — you’ll find something that’s not just new, but impressively well-crafted as well. The Perry Hotel was recognized right out of the gate as one of Architectural Digest’s best-designed new hotels, and while they’re certainly not wrong about that, the architecture and design are only part of what makes the Perry special." - Mark Fedeli
"Tucked away on Stock Island, a land bridge away from Key West, is the surprisingly modern, naval-inspired Perry Hotel, named for military figure Commodore Perry, who in 1822, planted the US flag in Key West and claimed the Florida Keys as United States territory. The open-plan lobby and 100 guest rooms feature nautical art from Stock Island artists, beginning with a full story of upcycled propellers framing the check-in area and maritime artifacts draped from the entrance ceilings. Rooms are artsy, bright, and beachy, with spacious balconies yielding marina, resort, or sunset views. On-site, there are 300 boat slips, two swimming pools, dockside benches, multiple fire pits, and three solid restaurants, the newest of which is the dockside Mexican restaurant, Bad Boy Taqueria and Tequila, opened in late 2023. This property tends to attract those keen on exploring the Keys’ vast water world—immediate, on-site access to top outfitters in fishing, snorkeling, sailing, and diving is a key consideration. It also appeals to those who want to be a quick, free shuttle away from the fun of Key West, but appreciate the resort’s 10 p.m. noise curfew. Finally, despite a hefty $75/night fee, it’s a favorite among dog lovers thanks to two on-site dog parks and prolific pet-friendly dining and lounging spaces." - Paul Rubio, Nancy DePalma
"Give us an overview of this place.A newer hotel in Key West, the naval-inspired Perry Hotel is tucked away on Stock Island. Rooms overlook a marina, adding to the nautical vibes. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? All rooms have spacious balconies overlooking either the adjacent marina or the mangroves. They're also bright and have an industrial-meets-coastal chic, with wooden fans and local photography. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?The Wi-Fi is free. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?There are two restaurants: Matt's Stock Island Kitchen & Bar and Salty Oyster Dockside Bar & Grill. The former, which is more upscale, focuses on seafood with a Southern accent; think black grouper with cornbread gnudi, kale, and crawfish-thyme butter. Sloppy Joe’s Dockside is the go-to spot for live music and craft cocktails. Anything stand out about the service? You're treated to sparkling wine as soon as you walk in, which sets the tone for the rest of your stay. What types of travelers will you find here?Groups of women-only weekend getaways, and couples. What about the neighborhood? What else is around here? The hotel is five miles from Duval Street—perhaps its only downfall. There's not really much to do in the immediate vicinity. Any other hotel features worth noting? The Perry is dog friendly—there are even two dog parks here. Bottom line: Why are we choosing the Perry?Very good on-site dining, a stellar pool area, and clean, chic rooms make The Perry one of Key West's best options." - Laura Ratliff
