A Cambridge Day Trip Filled With the Best Restaurants, Cafes, and Pubs | Eater London

"A reservation-only restaurant with bookings released the first Tuesday of every month; it presents elegantly bountiful, vegetable-forward dishes rooted in East Anglian produce and hospitality principles, offering a singular, sublime experience likened to an analogue of Jeremy Fox’s approach." - James Hansen

Anticlimactic Sunday Roast experience. A shame because this one was on my top 3 list. Generous with the beef but all was cold, it came with a quarter of a carrot and small-ish three potatoes that were not properly roasted, no parsnip, cabbage but not red. This is not a cheap roast. A real pity! At least the staff were nice

A friendly little neighbourhood pub. As tourists, we weren’t aware of the pub quiz – or how long it would last – and ended up as unwilling participants, hearing all the questions and answers over the PA. The Sunday roast was solid and tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was a bit dry, though. Perhaps we misread the situation, but it felt like desserts aren’t ordered very often here.

I only had drinks, but I’d definitely like to try the food next time! The atmosphere was very nice, and the staff were friendly and always available to help. (Note: Some people have been removed from one photo for privacy reasons.)

My mum and I visited here on Christmas Day. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be returning. The atmosphere in the pub was so Christmassy and welcoming! We were sat next to the fire and it was the perfect way to spend our Christmas Day. The only bit of criticism I have is the service was quite slow in between courses also my mum and I had to track someone down a couple of times for another drinks and more gravy etc but because this was on Christmas Day we didn’t take too much notice. Thank you for a lovely meal!🙂

A good corner pub with good food and a good selection of drinks. We enjoyed our Sunday roasts - big helpings- and also the desserts. The sort of pub you wish you lived near to - it would be great to have this as your local!

A small group of us, 4, dropped in for a few drinks and food on Tuesday. The atmosphere was great, warm, inviting. Staff were very friendly. Good selection of beers, ales on tap. Food was great and fair price. What a fabulous "off the beaten track" neighbourhood pub.

I had received recommendations that this was one of the best Sunday roasts in the city, so I decided to try it. The Sunday roast wasn’t bad, but I found the portion quite small, with very few vegetables. In addition, we were a table of five and the dishes took 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive, which made our experience worse. Despite everything, the toffee pudding dessert was very tasty.

Local Pub Trying to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. Attracted by the onion rings of other table while entering the pub. Therefore we ordered onion rings too. The food was in generous portions. The onion rings and fish&chips reminded me of Henry's of Hunstanton. Both restaurants didn't have basic seasoning therefore tasted bland. You need to add salt onto them. But at least under the batter, there was a genuinely big fish fillet inside. The onion rings were good quality. Everything was hot and well fried. The burger was quite lean therefore relatively dry. That made me feel salty. At least it's a brioche bun. But still, the prices were very reasonable. Nice, clean and quiet environment. The staff were friendly, sorry the system did not let me give the service 6 star ratings.
