"Funky phonetics aside, the pancakes at Berry Hill’s DIY icon are serious business. Ask for the special gluten-free batter, make your own all-you-can-eat pancakes at your griddle-top table, and then smother them with dozens of toppings from house-made syrup to Reese’s Pieces. The Pfunky Griddle also offers gluten-free versions of French toast and tomato basil soup." - Eater Staff

"In the mood to cook breakfast without the grocery shopping or cleanup? Head to Berry Hill’s Pfunky Griddle, where you sip bottomless coffee while you pick your pancake batter (white, wheat, or gluten-free) and pancake toppings (the lengthy list spans from M&Ms to pineapple to cottage cheese) then fire up the griddle in the center of your table and prepare them yourself. The fun doesn’t stop at pancakes, as diners can also cook their own eggs, French toast, and hash browns." - Kellie Walton

We got here around 7:30 on a Saturday and beat the lines and crowds. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us a nice little tutorial since it was our first time visiting. As vegans we were able to have pancakes with the vegan batter and the hash browns. We added sweet topping to our pancakes and savory ones to our hash browns. Only suggestion would be to carry a veggie sausage that is vegan and not just vegetarian. Thanks to the Pfunky Griddle for a fun dining experience and for giving us a hearty meal to start our day of exploring.

The Pfunky Griddle is a lovely restaurant where the tables have a griddle in the middle of it. We ordered the vegan pancakes (thank you for having vegan pancakes on the menu, we were delightfully surprised to be able to be enjoy pancakes). We poured our pancake batter on the griddle and added Oreo pieces. When they were fully cooked we topped them with bananas. Delicious! The chai tea is creamy and fantastic is well. We visited at 11 on a Wednesday and had no problem getting a table. It's a small restaurant and I should imagine it gets busy and is most likely challenging to get seated during peak times. One of my favorite things about The Pfunky Griddle is that it is located in front of a mural of musical legends and the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan is on it. Pancakes and SRV ♥️♥️♥️ excellent day!

Google
Really fun experience! The downside it does get loud if there’s other people near your table since you’re in a small room. Pancakes were delicious!

Found this restaurant using Nashville Guru website and so happy I did. They have gluten free pancake batter and gluten free sausage among other options. Great service by Drew. Homey, sweet atmosphere. Really liked it!!

Google
Great that you can get on a waitlist, walked and got sat pretty quickly as a party of 5 (four adults and 1 kid) Three of the adults got The Joey $17.99 and the kids (7yo) price is $16.99 (only a dollar off is just not enough for a kids price) The service was extremely slow and our server was not very friendly. Took 10-15 to get coffee refills and pancake batter refills. Just overall not attentive staff, mediocre experience, over hyped on social media. The pancakes and the pfunky potatoes were excellent. As well as the raspberry compote and biscuits and gravy! The food was 5 out of 5 but the service just makes me not want to recommend this place. Unfortunate. If you want to go for the one off experience, sure, but I just think it was over priced and over hyped.

What a fun concept to cook your own food! The griddle was hot and ready when the food arrived. We made our own pancakes and eggs at the table.

Set in a refurbished older home is this quaint, unique little restaurant. They do have a wheelchair ramp and a few spaces directly in front of the place which is very helpful and also where my positive review ends. I was dissatisfied with our server. I was dissatisfied with the dirty griddle. I was disappointed my egg turned brown as soon as it hit the cooking surface. I was nearly disgusted by the Biscuits and Gravy. Nearly deafened by the party next to us with 4 small children. By the way, on the menu, even on the Joey, that there is no sharing. So I assume 3/4 of those kids who were toddlers, the last being a small baby, had to pay for the whole meal because no sharing. I think the fun of cooking your own food is lost when you realize you are cooking your own food and paying $20 for it while being surrounded by screaming children and a server that is just there to spray pam on the griddle and snap at you "You cook that yourself" as your ordering from the very all over the place menu. Most likely no love lost but I won't be back.

lacey was a great server and made me and my partner feel very comfortable!! everything about this place is so fun and whimsical and we will definitely be back!!

Yelp
perfect food with 5star service they're kind very clean tables. The pancakes are the best pancakes you'll ever have.

Brandon A.

Yelp
Great for the family! Visiting from Hawaii, we were looking for a premium breakfast experience. This spot was really cool with the idea of cooking the food on your own. The kids enjoyed flipping their own pancakes. The buttermilk mix cooks perfectly on the grill and makes it easy for kids to cook their own breakfast. The mashed potatoes are delicious when you make them crispy. The pancakes come with many toppings such as dark chocolate, white chocolate, bananas, and strawberry sauce. Highly recommended when in Nashville!

Yelp
Really sweet place where you can cook your own food at your table. Fun experience & I'm a better chef than I thought. Staff was super quick, friendly & helpful

Conrad J.

Yelp
My wife found this funky breakfast/lunch place to eat at. It is celiac friendly and think of it as a breakfast hibachi. There is a griddle, and you get all of the fixings to cook yourself breakfast. It was fun and you get every ingredient you need. I let my wife cook first as she had gluten free pancake mix so there was no cross contamination. She said the pancakes were amazing and not gritty. Mine were great and it was the perfect start of our day. Give them a chance, good food and great service!

Michele J.

Yelp
What a fun place. Being gluten free I never thought I would have this type of experience. It's like breakfast hibachi. Pick your breakfast items and cook it in front of you, at your table. I was able to make my own pancakes and cook my egg and potatoes. My husband went next with regular pancakes and biscuits. The staff was great, knowledgeable for celiac. The decor perfectly hid the fans to keep the temperature perfect even with griddles going everywhere. So glad someone suggested

Yelp
Fun Pancake Experience with Great Service I recently visited Pfunky Griddle with a group of friends, and it was such a unique and enjoyable experience. Being able to make our own pancakes right at the table was a hit with everyone! The concept of adding our own toppings was a fun twist, although I do wish there was an option for unlimited additional toppings for a set price. I might have overlooked this detail in my excitement for the concept itself. The staff at Pfunky Griddle were fantastic. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful, which really enhanced our overall experience. We were lucky enough to get in before a large group arrived, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Pfunky Griddle for anyone looking for a fun and interactive dining experience, coupled with great customer service. It's a place where you can let your creativity run wild with pancakes!

Ria F.

Yelp
What a cool concept. At this place. you can cook your own food for a few of the menu items. We opted for grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. The grilled cheese came with 4 slices of bread and 4 slices of cheese. The soup was cooked in the back. Service was good. Our waitress was prompt. Seating is a little tight but it was also a Sunday so I'm guessing it's busier then.

Cleo G.

Yelp
I love pfunky griddle, and you just can't convince me otherwise. Yes, you make your own food. No, it's not against the point of going out... it's an EXPERIENCE. You come here to have fun, and you leave happy! Just make sure to go online and add yourself to the waitlist ahead of time because there will ALWAYS be a LONG wait time, especially on weekends. They have a small area to wait inside, but just be prepared for that. You cook pretty much everything yourself on the griddle at your table, besides a few select sides (like the meat). We often get the Joey, which gives you all you can say pancakes with 2 toppings, 2 sides, and a choice of meat. Buttermilk All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes: 10/10 - This is where it's AT!! The batter is absolutely delicious, and they just keep bringing more until you're done. You absolutely get the bang for your buck, and I honestly love getting extra toppings even if it costs extra because it adds so much flavor. I've tried the pancakes with m&ms, chocolate chips, oreo, Nutella, and peanut butter, and all of it is good. It's super fun to make and flip them yourself, and you can make them exactly how you like them!! Bacon: I didn't try because I'm not a bacon person but my boyfriend said it was better than the average restaurant bacon. You don't cook this yourself. Hash Browns: They take a while to cook, but here's a tip-Add extra butter to the griddle before and it helps a LOT. (Heads up for any Canadians like me, their maple syrup isn't real.)

Lana B.

Yelp
What a fun concept!! If you're going, you might as well do the Joey right?! Unlimited pancakes or French toast (gluten free & vegan available) with some sides and toppings. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a pancake so these really hit the spot. Only downside was it was pretty smoky/hot in the patio seating. Nothing a fan can't fix. Pro tip- join the waitlist from their website.

Warren D.

Yelp
Date of visit: August 9, 2023 A friend talked about how fun this place was and once I heard about it, I knew we had to try it. I've been to places where you grill your own steak, but never your own breakfast! Staff was fun, if not quite as attentive as I would have liked. The food, however, was good. The batter poured easily and that allowed for mixing in our preferred items without issue. Butterfinger pancakes? Yes, please! The portions are pretty generous and when you add in all the sides as well, it makes for a hearty breakfast at a price that isn't too shabby. The bacon was excellent (we didn't have to cook that) and the biscuits--while not served warm--were way better than the "famous" ones at Loveless Café. I do wish that the side items came in more sustainable containers--I can't imagine how many of those little plastic cups are tossed out each day, filling up the landfill for centuries. Outside of that, the only other complaint I had was about the cleanliness of the facility, we sat by the window in the back section of the restaurant right after they opened and the windowsill area had clearly not been cleaned in quite some time. I was going to take a picture, but decided not to, it was that gross!

Becky Y.

Yelp
Been coming to the Pfunky Griddle for more than 20 years. Now I'm bringing my grandkids and they love making their own pancakes. Lots of toppings options resulted in some very creative results! There are two options unleashed white and five grain. I love the 5 grain but the grandkids stick with white. You can get both and they will keep bringing the batter! Fun place with the kids!

Nate M.

Yelp
It's just an OK from me, the three and a half star rating for this place is about right. The ordering is clunky, the table arrangement is not comfortable, and for a place that has people cooking inside there seems to be zero ventilation. It was very smokey inside and I wouldn't eat here and then go to a meeting or appointment; you'll smell just like hot griddle and food. We sat on the patio and the first thing I noticed was that our table was not level at all. This made cooking very challenging, especially the eggs. Everything ran down and to the left and I had to hold it with the spatula until it cooked. As for the food, it was ok. I did enjoy my biscuits and gravy and the pancakes were decent, but nothing here excited me. The batter here is way too thick and doesn't pour clean, so I suggest adding a little water to the batter for an easier pour. We ordered the kids pancakes, The "Joey", and the biscuits and gravy with two sides; egg and sausage. As we ordered, we we're told three separate times (without prompting) we can't share our pancakes and that we needed to purchase our own individual pancake orders. We get it, no sharing! To be reminded so often definitely took the fun out of it and made us feel like cheap skates if I snacked a little bit food from my son's plate. This is a fun idea in theory, but I don't think it quite works for this venue.

Nika Y.

Yelp
We did all you can eat pancakes -- but can only order once! This was an experience as you get to cook your own food. I give it a 8/10

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Overall I would eat here again. The food was good. The premise is fun: getting to make your own breakfast on the shared griddle. Our server Lacy was super sweet, if a little scattered (forgetting things, wrong order) but she did circle back around each time to apologize and service recovery. the prices are reasonable. It's a little confusing for tipping because you're doing all the labor...but we did tip in the end.

Minly L.

Yelp
Pfunky griddle is just as fun as it's name. It really looks like a super cozy shack or home depending on how you see it. Regardless, it's huge and can fit a good amount of people. I love the concept of unlimited and customizable pancakes. Not only is it cute, but you can really get creative with your food. The staff was super friendly throughout the entire experience. I genuinely enjoyed my time here. Side are fun, but very standard for breakfast add ons. Beware: you will smell like pancakes afterwards

Sherri J.

Yelp
Cute concept but alittle pricey for pancakes that you have to cook yourself. We were seated on the back porch and the smoke from the griddles was burning our eyes and making it not enjoyable. I would suggest some type of ventilation. The bathroom was nasty and needs to be cleaned. My hot coffee was not very hot. A lot of wait staff standing around on their phones.

Heather D.

Yelp
What a fun breakfast place! You can have a small breakfast or a large breakfast. Of course, you cook it yourself, which is part of the fun! The only complaint we had was we thought the griddles were a bit small. We also didn't like that the berries came out frozen. Other than that, we had a lot of fun, and our server was great at explaining the concept.

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Stumbled on this restaurant. What a treat! Griddle in the middle of the table. You get to grill your pancakes, french toast, potatoes ect! Food was delicious. Coffee was good!

Jessica G.

Yelp
The food is always so fun. With older kids, it is interactive and they can customize their own pancakes so they eat it even with more fruits! They have a ton of options when it comes to toppings! The staff there has always been friendly. It is in an older building with very little parking so getting there earlier is better, especially with kids. Being in the older building, there's not much room between tables with the bigger parties. We usually go with one other family that totals 4 adults and 4 kids and it is tight around the edges. This is a yearly tradition that we do with our kids and they look forward to it every year!

April P.

Yelp
Okay, this is the 2nd time I've been here. I took a family member who is visiting since it's an excellent concept. The food is okay, service is great! The price to me doesn't justify the food quality. I'm not sure if I'm the right clientele for Pfunky Griddle being local. I think it's a really cool concept to bring someone visiting, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here. Great customer service. The window or ventilation is not good. Our eyes were watering due to the heat/smoke. Tip: wear something you could easily change. You will smelling like breakfast right after.

Catherine C.

Yelp
Overall, the idea of cooking your own food is really neat and I enjoyed the experience overall. The only problem we had was the fact that no matter how long we seemed to cook the French toast, it was still raw in the middle. Im not sure if the griddle was maybe not turned up high enough but other than that the food was good and it was a fun place to go for brunch!

Amanda V.

Yelp
Great gluten free options. Super cool to cook your own pancakes. American hibachi. Love it! Great to go with friends or family. Amazing service and wonderful staff.

Jaden B.

Yelp
First time I've been back to The Pfunky Griddle in three years and this time I took my girlfriend with me. The pancakes and coffee we had were absolutely delicious. :) Four stars this time and I hate to do this...but they stopped selling pancake batter to go.

Bradleigh D.

Yelp
I love it here so much I want to come back every weekend! It's such a homey and cozy vibe. The topping options are great for the pancakes & the batter is so so good. I will say the hashbrowns don't have much flavor, but the biscuits are always good. The staff is really kind here as well! Would definitely come back but come earlier in the day since the wait can get long. Overall a cool experience and a fun meal!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I kept hearing and seeing pics from the Pfunky Griddle so we decided to have Valentine's breakfast here. So much fun!! Even tho we have a Blackstone, this was fun and intimate to cook while sitting next to each other. I had endless 5 grain pancakes and hubby had the works called "The Joey" and both of us left with happy tummies!! Service was great and atmosphere was pfun and pfunky!! And the restaurant has a small onsite parking lot, if full street parking is available nearby.

Jason L.

Yelp
Great, fun experience cooking what we like, how we like, without cleaning up! Our, server Lacey was awesome and kept the coffee flowing!

Nicole N.

Yelp
This place was so much fun! You are seated at a table with a griddle and you make your own pancakes, french toast and hash browns. Service was great and we would definitely go back!

Oressa B.

Yelp
The experience was sooo fun. The atmosphere so tranquil tiny gem. The place had ppl visiting from the plates iSee Missouri, Texas, NC & Georgia. It was a tiktok find ihope all who visits enjoy as much as we did. When u are the crafting cook u cant go wrong my tiny pecan powder sugar wit bananas OmG along with my sis specialty mimosa

Raishon B.

Yelp
I expected this place to be packed and they were definitely busy but when we went on a Saturday morning at approximately 9:45 am we only had to wait 10 mins for a table for 2. Small building, looks like a house turned restaurant but I liked the cozy feeling. Now Parking was a challenge, they have a very small lot and the surrounding businesses have signs for you not to park there. If you take Iris st and make a right on Columbine place there is street parking which is like a block behind the restaurant. Just have to be careful walking on the road as there is no sidewalk. They have lots of options for pancake toppings as well as different items to add to your eggs but we are simple people as you can see from our photos. They cook your meat and potatoes which Im glad they did because it saved us time. I can see this taking a while if you have a large party of people because the griddles are only so big. I loved that they asked how we would like our bacon prepared. My son was appreciative that his was extra crispy. Overall I would definitely come back. I cant wait to come back actually :)

Nasma S.

Yelp
I would come here more if it was a bit more affordable in my opinion, I don't think it's ridiculously priced just wish it were a little less. For the adult meal specifically. But such is life, I have this spot tucked away for special occasions like waking up before noon Pretty busy every time I have gone.

Vanessa J.

Yelp
not keen on paying to cook my own food. The noise level is atrocious. I heard more of our neighbors conversation than I did our own. the turkey sausage was awful. would not recommend

Jena S.

Yelp
The Pfunky Griddle is a fun place for breakfast or brunch! Our waiter was awesome, and he made the environment even better.

Marge C.

Yelp
This is a wonderful concept... a griddle at the center of each table, a pitcher of batter, a long list of toppings to choose from... it should have been fun... we were left feeling that the management was stingy. Instead of feeling welcomed we read "no sharing" "no taking leftovers home". We rather expected to be told to wipe our feet. And then the food. The pancakes were okay. My friend ordered the mixed berry topping. She received a perhaps 2 ounce cup of FROZEN berries... dry and cold, to top her pancakes with? I ordered the raspberry sauce which was very yummy but, again, ice cold. We were also given a pitcher perhaps 1/4 full of syrup. Our server, Josh?, was very attentive and helpful, but he could not overcome the unwelcoming ambience. I would suggest that you go downtown to Pancake Pantry, or even to Cracker Barrel.

Chay W.

Yelp
This place is so much fun! Pfunky Griddle is what happens if hibachi Griddle meets breakfast and you have to cook it. It gives you the joy of cooking breakfast with your family without everyone eating the same exact thing and you having to prep all the food! Everyone gets to pick their own food, pancake toppings and etc. Then watching to see who can really flip pancakes is hilarious when you go with the right crowd. But did I mention the food taste amazing! And the pancakes are all you can eat!!! I really enjoyed this place and have been there several times over the years.

Kelsey E.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday expecting a wait for a party of 4. They told us 45 minutes which was fine because we had passed by a coffee place not too far down the road. We walked to the coffee shop and just got our coffee when we got a text that our table was ready and we had TWO MINUTES to check in. I will never complain about a 45 minute wait turning into a 15 minute wait, but boy did we have to book it back. Many of the other reviews complain about paying to cook your own breakfast, but it was all of the fun with none of the prep or cleanup! We were there for almost 2 hours and had a great time making our breakfast, chatting with the friendly waitstaff who gave us good cooking tips, and watching the others around us struggle and succeed. I do wish the griddles were a little bigger, but that's my only negative comment.

Steven C.

Yelp
Great service and vegan options. My son has a diary allergy that caused a liver transplant and it's so nice to find a place he could eat breakfast.

Jillana Goodchild J.

Yelp
Getting discouraged trying to find a place for breakfast with parking and no lineup when we found this place in a nice quiet neighborhood on Google Maps. Cook your own breakkie on a griddle in the center of the table-super friendly service!! Highly recommend!!

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Love this little place off the beaten path. It's fun to pick your toppings and kind of batter you want à Nashville staple id visit again

Jamie W.

Yelp
We visited the Pfunky Griddle with family and friends and had a great time. This is definitely a place to visit for the experience. Sure, you can make your own pancakes at home - but what fun it is to do it on a table surrounded by friends, picking out your own toppings, in organized chaos. Seriously - we had a blast! I want to note, this place is Gluten-Free friendly also! We had a variety of menu options chosen at our tables. The teens all went with the unlimited pancakes for $8.99 and your choice of one pancake topping. They maxed out at 5-6 pancakes each. It's unlimited! They will continue bringing you wheat and regular pancake batters until you are finished. The process is easy and fun. Us adults opted for the bigger platter and french toast. I went simple with a latte and eggs. They have a full espresso bar and handcrafted espresso drinks available. The place is small and parking is very limited. We had a difficult time finding parking, especially on a Sunday for brunch. So you'll want to keep this in mind. We waited about 30-40 minutes for brunch. It's a bit of a "dive" but again, you are going for the experience.

Jake B.

Yelp
Cute place so fun for kids. As a parent it's a little stressful to be having your kids do it but it's fun that your not doing it at home and they do all the clean up. Coffee was not the best but my Girls said the oj was really good!

Kenneth F.

Yelp
Such a fun way to enjoy breakfast with the grandkids. They love to help in the kitchen at home so getting to help this way was wonderful fun for all of us. Yummy too!

C C.

Yelp
Great little spot. Busy AF but worth the wait. Got the g-free pancakes and had a blast

Charity S.

Yelp
The over all experience was five stars... The kids enjoyed cooking their own food and everything taste good. It was different than something we would usually do so we loved it. David was a great server!!! The only bad thing I have to say is when we got there they tried to give the big light skinned girl in the gray pants our table and she said loud "I don't want them" she didn't know I heard her but I did.

Kelly M.

Yelp
We were visiting Nashville for spring break and found fPunky Griddle on a list for kid friendly activities. We visited with 5 kids and they all loved it! It is expensive for cooking your own breakfast but a fun experience. Us adults were skeptical based on some of these Yelp reviews but decided to check it out at the kid's insistence. I'm glad we did! The food was delicious! Loved the bacon. Pancake batter was plentiful. We had the 5 grain which was very filling. The kids had the white batter. They really liked it! We think the seasoned griddles contributed to the deliciousness. The service was decent and the atmosphere was ok. It looks like a house that was converted into a restaurant. It looks a little rough around the edges but that may contribute to its charm. Depends on your perspective. We enjoyed it. Kids want to go back but for us probably a one and done experience. For locals, they might want to go back.

Marcia C.

Yelp
Loved this place! My boys and I had lots of fun cooking up our meals. Highly recommend for families. You couldn't ask for a better staff. So helpful and kind. Service was fast and the food was good. This is basic breakfast fare but they offer gluten free options. My boys loved their regular and wheat pancakes which they proceeded to fill up with blueberries and chocolate chips. I had eggs, hash browns and sausage with spinach and artichoke hearts which I cooked up to my liking.

Melinda S.

Yelp
Stopped in on our way to Memphis. Cute little spot. You get the feeling that you in someone's house. Then you go to the back porch where there is a griddle on every table to cook your own. Great concept! Nice to go somewhere different. food was average, but the experience cooking was super fun!

Melissa C.

Yelp
So the Pfunky Griddle was definitely an interesting experience. Think pancakes, but Korean BBQ style, you cook everything yourself pretty much. Our service was very slow (long time to put in orders, long time to get coffee) and no one ever really explained how to use the griddle or if we could alter the heat (hash-browns took FOREVER to cook). The food was good, but again, you have a small space to cook everything for everyone at your table so it takes awhile, lots of waiting around. Overall, it's fun and gimmicky but you'd definitely save time and money doing the same thing at home.

Lala G.

Yelp
It's definitely for the experience. That's it. Would We do it again?, no. It would be fun for little ones. But 130 for the 5 of us to cook our own food, we will pass. Coffee wasn't that great. We recommend it just for the experience. But that's it. The concept is cute for your younger ones

Joshua S.

Yelp
After a few visits, my review is that The Pfunky Griddle is just okay. I do recommend trying this spot at least once if you have kids as they love it. The food is overpriced for what you get and the service is just okay. On our recent visit, the floor was very sticky everywhere and we had to remind our waiter to bring us our drinks even after we had gotten our food. I had already eaten half my food before I got a water. The redeeming qualities is that this is a local restaurant, it is fun with kids, and the French toast is really really good.
