The Best Bars and Restaurants for Late-Night Dining in Portland | Eater Portland

"The only late-night spot in Portland that was also a filming location in a cult classic starring Matt Dillon, the Pharmacy is both a great drag bar and a living museum for film buffs. Open until 2 a.m. nightly, enjoy a Vitamin B — the bar’s spin on a French 75 made with blue butterfly pea flower-infused Aviation gin — alongside a five-cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup or a burger topped with house-made bacon." - Thom Hilton

Portland, Oregon’s Best Drag Brunches | Eater Portland

"I like that the Pharmacy, a Northwest Portland bar that makes a cameo in the film Drugstore Cowboy, programs a wide range of drag events and every third Sunday throws a drag brunch hosted by Devlin Lynn Phoenixx; $30 tickets include brunch and a mimosa plus a show with a rotating slate of queens, doors open at 11 a.m., and performers typically start lip-syncing around noon." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These Portland Bars | Eater

"This Northwest bar in a vintage pharmacy is the real deal, complete with apothecary shelving and sliding wooden ladder to reach the bottles. Not everything is a throwback, though, and a Shark Bite might be just what the doctor ordered. The spicy margarita features house-infused jalapeno tequila, ginger liqueur, and fresh lime juice. For something more casual, order the appropriately named Drugstore Cowboy, and ask for a shot of Teremana with your can of Tecate." - Vox Creative

Portland Bar Snacks Ideal for Any Night Out | Eater Portland

"Popular for its drag brunches and bingo, the Pharmacy was also the shooting location for cult classic Drugstore Cowboy. Open until 2:30 a.m. every night, the Pharmacy serves fun cocktails along with such dishes as the ‘Favreau,’ self-described as, “The. Best. Damn. Grilled. Cheese.” The descriptor is apt: The combination of cheeses — Gruyere, fontina, cheddar, and jack — makes it fantastic for a late-night snack, above and beyond the average greasy bar grilled cheese. The side of red pepper tomato soup is ideal for dabbing and dunking." - Alex Frane

I really like this place. They have great drinks and the food is delicious. Price is about average and what you would expect in this area. Clean bar, fun board games to play as well as several pinball machines. They also host really fun events like drag bingo or pet photos with Santa. Worth checking out. Def try some of the food too.

Sublime food options, starting with their fried chicken sandwich: Juicy chicken. Soft pretzel buns. Well-fried batter that stops just short of being over fried, which makes it perfectly crispy and redolent of thyme and spice. Their staff is amazing as well, always attentive no matter how busy it is. Their old fashioned with cardamom is great as well as their Bellini. Niche horror and tokusatsu films flicker on several TVs, providing an extra bit of whimsy.

I came to Pharmacy Bar on a whim, and man, this plate of chili fries was a full-blown experience. We’re talking house-made chili, creamy cheese, fresh green onions, and a cold slap of sour cream on top. I asked for a side of spicy aioli and drizzled it on like it was sacred oil—and it took this dish over the top. This isn’t bar food… this is comfort food engineering at its finest. First photo is the beast in all its glory. Second photo is the aftermath—absolutely obliterated. Not a trace left. That should tell you everything you need to know. Downtown Portland gem. I’ll be back.

The Pharmacy is my favorite bar to visit! The staff are always friendly, and the owner is welcoming and kind to everyone. Every time I come here, I feel safe and end up meeting lots of great people. Please support this wonderful small business. This business for what they doing they deserve our support as a local business. Please support this business if you can. And mark and chrissy and everybody that work there are so sweet and nice and welcoming to everybody.

This is my favorite local bar for great drinks and service. It can get busy at times, and I understand why, it’s all around amazing. I haven’t had any menu item I didn’t like and the bartenders/service staff rock it. I recommend this place to everyone.

The food is decent on a good night. I’ve patroned the bar 6X in as many years for a late night takeout. On average the food is a solid 3 stars. Which isn’t bad for late night bar food. The staff is polite and gracious. While I haven’t sat inside, the vibe seems pretty good too. Here’s my issue. In the last week I’ve ordered twice and tipped. “Tip the kitchen staff $5 X2”. I ordered onion rings on both orders. Even though I asked if ranch/dipping sauce was included, I was told it was and it was not. My second order included 10 wings. I was told the order was complete, but there’s no ranch or sauce. This isn’t exactly a big deal. However it is disappointing. Considering that this wasn’t a mishap. This is apparently the practice for take out. I tipped $10 on a takeout order. Just give me some darn dipping sauce for my wings and rings, especially considering that I requested to receive what is stated on the menu as “included”. Lastly. If your tomato soup needs to be heavily watered because you’re out. It should be customary to ask your customers if they still want it. I don’t quite enjoy ordering food before working a 10 hour shift to not actually eat. I threw money and time away. I paid to receive a portion of food that I can’t consume. In a good faith and support of local business, I won’t give 1 star. But tonight’s experience was exactly that. I’m grouchy from hunger and angry that my next 2 hours of work I’ll be working for money I threw away for inedible food.

They gave away a bunch of food during the gap in snap benefits. The food was decent and filling. Good people work there and I hope this community continues to support them like they supported us.
