"Elegant hotel dining room with both classical and contemporary touches – along with a less formal conservatory and a lovely terrace overlooking the village duck pond. Appealing menus of seasonal dishes with a classical base and a modern touch. Skilful, knowledgeable cooking; smooth, assured service." - Michelin Inspector
We only ate here not stayed but the whole place is beautifully decorated with a log burner snug and a more glamorous dining area and a light airy conservatory too.
There is an excellent wine list.
We both had the venison which was cooked to perfection and the mini suet pudding was flavour heaven!
We finished with an excellent crème brûlée.
We can’t wait to return.
It’s good to remember it’s very close to Helmsley which is filll of galleries and shops and well worth combining with a visit. Even better it’s open on a Monday lunchtime!

Came here for Sunday lunch. Had the roast beef & the chicken. Vegetables are cooked soft, all food has great flavour. Beef is a little rare if you’re not into that. Homemade bread & butters. Service was great & attentive. All round great experience. Would definitely return when in the area.

Wonderful hotel, food and service. The food was brilliant, the service was above and beyond. The room was clean and comfy. The setting in the bar and lounge was super cosy and festive. Breakfast was delicious. we used the pool during our stay which was perfect for a quick dip. Our son was welcomed by the staff and nothing was a bother. You made us feel so at home. I even left some perfume at the hotel and they went out of their way to get it delivered back to me. I am so grateful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is after a cosy countryside stay. We will definitely be back next year and looking forward to it already. Thank you for making the start of our festive trip perfect!

Where do I start! Fabulous location, great hotel, amazing food & the most wonderful staff! Didn’t want the weekend to end, we ate in the bar on the Friday and the restaurant on the Saturday - Highly recommend the taster menu! Every little detail has been thought about and it shows, the general manger Liam is the anchor to this place, and Sandy on reception was so lovely too. Stand out bolthole and will definitely be returning ✨

Had very relaxed, fantastic lunch. The roast was hearty and beef cooked to perfection.
Service was very professional and enjoyed the hotel vibe sitting in the spacious room which over looked the duck pond after lunch. A wonderful Christmas treat. Spent

Our first stay at The Pheasant and we weren't disappointed. A lovely room in a fabulous appointed hotel in a quiet village overlooking a duck pond. The room was spotless, well equipped and finished to a high standard. The staff were were very friendly and accommodating. The standard of food was very high, superb Yorkshire breakfast and fantastic tasting menu in the evening. A fantastic hotel to stay in a lovely part of the country.
