This Valencia Street Irish Pub Could Soon Be Demolished to Make Way for A New High Rise | Eater SF

"In the Mission, the Irish pub The Phoenix appears likely to close: the owner recently received permits that clear the way to demolish the current building and replace it with a six-story, mixed-use building that will include 19 “Single Room Occupancy” units. The owner has been seeking to develop the property since 2018; the project was paused in 2020 after a neighbor called for a discretionary review over potential sunlight impacts but that neighbor later withdrew the review application. A closing date for the bar has not yet been announced." - Dianne de Guzman

Reminds me of bars on French street in New Orleans. But don’t mention New Orleans jazz to the bouncer he will be offended. A great place for live music and drinks. If you’re black and not from KC like me this is a safe space. $5 cover at the door cash preferred there are fees if you use card fyi

Lunch menu was very tasty! Ordered the shrimp basket and salmon salad. Generous portions and both entrees were done to perfection! Nice atmosphere! Wait staff were very welcoming!

From the live music, to the bar staff to FOOD, EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Bar staff was phenomenal and I wish I had remembered her name but she held the bar down on a Wednesday night April 23rd. This was my first time visiting Kansas City and will be back. Highly recommend Chicken tenders and fries, hand breaded chicken, seasoned!!! I was very surprised!!!

This is a fun little jazz bar in Kansas City. Talia and her boyfriends were so good! The $6 happy hour cocktails and wine were great and the spin dip and chips were really tasty. Dinner special was fish and chips, it was just ok. We had a great time!

The spinach dip, loaded fries, and crab cakes were great and the portions worked for sharing with a group of 4. The staff deliver good service even when the club is packed. I thought it would take a long time to get our food and drinks but it was quite fast so they deserve 5-stars for that. The music was great too. Definitely recommend visiting this place.

In town for a convention. Popped into this place for a bite to eat. Crab cakes very good. Downtown Dip good. Service, excellent! Danielle was helpful in picking things out on the menu and suggesting other places to try. Good food at a very reasonable price and fun and efficient service.

First time eating their food, I ordered the battery cod they made a homemade tartar sauce that taste like plain mayonnaise no pickles taste no tartar taste it was gross My sister ordered the crab cakes. They were the worst crab cake I ever had did not taste one bit of crab. It taste like mush, almost like potted meat if we would’ve known that, they was not handmade with fresh crab in it, we would not have ordered it even if it was crab meat from a can, it would’ve been better than what they served.Wished we would’ve got our money back. Drinks was great and it was pricey, but the menu has changed not the quality for that area. You get better from a Friday or Applebee’s.
