The Best Jazz Nights In Miami

"Full disclosure, The Betsy Hotel doesn’t have a jazz night so much as a lobby jazz piano player. Nonetheless, the rotating piano players (who are there every night until 11pm) are talented, and if you’re looking for a nice hotel lobby bar to pretend like you’re a character on White Lotus, this is it. The Betsy is also on the least chaotic chunk of Ocean Drive there is. Maybe don’t travel across town to come here just for the music, but do keep it in mind as a viable South Beach option for a little live jazz, a martini, and a convincing setting to play tourist." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

The Betsy Lobby Bar Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a nice hotel lobby bar to pretend like you’re a character on White Lotus , try The Betsy. This place is located on the least chaotic chunk of Ocean Drive there is. And they also have rotating piano players every night from 7pm to 11pm. It’s not special enough to center your whole night around, but keep it in mind as a viable South Beach bar hopping option for a little live jazz, a martini, and a convincing setting to play tourist. We just happened to walk by The Piano Bar while exploring South Beach and discovered this absolute gem!!! It was late evening and we were just looking for a quiet spot for a lite dessert and this fit the bill. Loved learning the history and significance of this place. Welcoming, friendly, amazing service, music was fantastic and the atmosphere was perfection. Our server made our experience over the top when she comped our gelatos, which were absolutely delicious btw, and expressed her hope we would come back and stay on our next visit to Miami Beach. Definitely will return to this time machine to the 1940's - so elegant and relaxing.

While visiting Miami Beach i randomly choose The Piano Bar. The atmosphere was very classy & elegant. For our starters we ordered Calamari & The Avocado toast, both were amazing¡¡¡ For the entree we ordered the Wagu with Asperges.. The Wagu was pretty much perfect¡¡¡¡ I'd recommend this establishment to any and all looking for a upscale food experience¡¡¡

Great place for breakfast! We went because we like the exterior and design of the hotel, and restaurant has great reviews. Everything met our expectations or even exceeded it. Food was delicious and nicely platted. Service by Daniel was fast and helpful - thank you :) We will come back if we will be around. Ps. In the evening there is live music, starting 6pm

We are here the perfect timing. Jazz pianos are playing. Classic seatings and menu. Beautiful art works and building. A clam place in busy south beach.

Yelp
So, The Betsy Hotel is a five-star experience, BUT it might not be one for you. It's not the superglitz of the well-polished high end Vegas properties. Rather the vibe is "You have an old-money multimillionaire friend with a well-maintained family beach house on a lovely part of the East Coast who's invited you to come stay for a while." You know. You get it, right? The Betsy abounds with pleasant places to sit in private or with others - decks, lounges, balconies . . . whatever grabs you right at the moment. The place is kind of a funky maze that takes you a while to figure out; once you do, you feel like you're family. Music sometimes - classy jazz, but sometimes a bit loud. Great beach access and a private pool for when the rip is going. Easy access to great eats. A quick stroll gets you out into the action. But at home, there's a unembarrassedly chill vibe - just family - oh, go ahead and borrow a book! Art everywhere - all worth examining, but there's just so much of it that you don't feel pressure to do right now. Every guest you encounter is gracious and polite (even the kids!) - no one is trying to impress anyone else, but there's an elegance - a tasteful elegance that underlies everything: the certainty is that if you're here, you don't NEED to impress anyone. It wouldn't have been the place for me when I was in my late twenties trying to court my wife and make a splash. But The Betsy sure suits us now. We've stayed all over Miami Beach since the Eighties - my wife and I were both surprised to find that The Betsy struck us as the most conveniently located of all these places. It seemed like nowhere in SoBe was difficult from our home base. We had one of the Betsy Balcony rooms (I like to smoke a puro in Miami Beach, and that gave me the opportunity): it was beautifully appointed - lovely decoration and smart storage features and conveniences. Small, but, not as small feeling as the photos implied to us. WiFi was strong everywhere inside but could fade at certain spots of the courtyard and was a no-go on our balcony. Big thumbs-up for the ceiling fan. The in-room fridge was convenient, as were the desk and all the drawers for storage. (Downside is it's tough to find a place to hide your luggage.) We stayed five days and did not go crazy in the space; on the contrary, we came to really like it. The one thing that every guest we met commented on was how easy it is to get lost in The Betsy: there were two hotels that were connected (on the third floor, through that silly Orb thing you see on Instagram) and there are multiple elevators and stairwells to navigate to get through them. It's worth figuring out: being able to traverse the areas makes everything very convenient (hey, you want to walk out the door to catch your Uber on Collins, right, not have to navigate over to the weird little cut-off part of Ocean by the Starbucks?) and only takes a day of paying attention to figure out. Nevertheless, every guest had an "I got lost!" story and a bartender joked that it would be an ideal sobriety test. (Everyone is helpful when you get lost, and it all makes sense once you do it a couple times.) NB: while it's a pet-friendly hotel (and I'm allergic to pet dander) and there were guest dogs and hotel dogs present, I didn't see a single hair or sneeze once anywhere. Wonderfully clean. All the staff we encountered, from housekeeping to waitstaff and bartenders to management and engineers - they were all welcoming, low-key and gracious. A particular shout-out to Renzo at the front desk, Evan at the bell desk, Art at the concierge desk and especially Jose and Joanny at breakfast - all were particularly friendly and especially helpful. If it sounds like a place for you, go and enjoy. My wife and I will certainly return.

Yelp
We stayed at the Betsy Hotel for my husband's birthday with our children and the staff was incredibly friendly from the checkin desk to the restaurant. They even have hotel dogs named Betsy, Rosa and Daisy. The owners John and Leslie were always engaging with the guests sharing their dogs for us to pet and love. We can't wait to go back. I also recommend staying in the penthouse. There is a near story about the chandelier that Leslie shared with me. I love history of a place and the stories that come with it. What a great experience. Yelp
****Update*** Christopher with leadership at the Betsy has reached out to rectify the issues we had while staying at the hotel. He was very professional and made me feel like a valued customer, which is what I was hoping for during our stay. He assured me that our next visit, if we choose to patronize will be exceptional, and I receive that. This is a completely honest review. Let's start with making my reservations. I initially phoned the hotel to make a reservation for 5 nights. The reservationist confirmed my 5 nights took all my information and my credit card, but towards the end stated the wrong dates, only 4 nights for what I was quoted . she explained it would be $300 more. I asked her if there was anything that she could do since it was her mistake. She said, sorry no. I called back and spoke to a woman named Gabby. She apologized for the mistake and gave me five nights for the amount I was quoted initially. So I was very happy with that. Gabby was very nice and professional. Arriving to the hotel, we were greeted warmly and given instructions on how to navigate to our room. It is truly like a maze, you have to go up one elevator To the third floor cross over into another building and then come back down another elevator to get to the second floor, where we were staying. A little annoying, but not a super huge issue for us. (you have to repeat this to get to the pool gym and library) . Upon entering our room, it smelled like dog urine. We let Housekeeping know (who happened to be in the hallway), We also let the front desk know, and they told us they would have housekeeping attempt to get rid of the smell. Upon returning to our room, the room smelled like oranges and citrus with a faint hint of dog urine. But after a while, the dog urine smell returned. I didn't want to be a complainer so I just let it go. Our room itself was small and located right next to house keeping's closet. So needless to say we were woken up every morning with doors opening and closing and vacuums being tossed around. (if they offer you room 251 politely decline). One night my husband and I decided to sit on the front patio to just relax. Staff quickly came out and told us they weren't severing outside because it might rain, and that we needed to come inside. My husband explained we were just relaxing and didn't need service. Literally the same staff member offered service to a couple right next to us, not pushing them to leave from the front of the hotel. This experience gave me a very icky feeling, I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. They treated us as if we were loitering. They very next day hubby and I decided we would try pizza from a world famous pizza spot and eat it on the beach. By the time we Reached the hotel with our pizza. It started to rain so we decided we would sit on the front patio (which was covered) and enjoy our pizza. A staff member comes out and tells us, he thinks it's dumb, but management and the front desk staff says we can't eat outside pizza on the patio. We are welcome to take it to our room. I explained we are guest at the hotel and we're just looking for some cover from the rain. He says, I know but sorry, At this point, I'm starting to think they don't want us in front of their hotel. I'm extremely disappointed, feeling discriminated against and ready to go home. I honestly felt that we were being watched. Overall the hotel is attractive, has a nice rooftop pool, and great access to the beach that includes Beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. But for me, customer service is everything, and based on this experience, I would not return to the Betsy Hotel. I'm sure they wouldn't care anyways.

Yelp
Drink only: I enjoy the Betsy for the piano bar. This place boasts awesome live music and a wide menu variety. Their servers are friendly and quick and the drinks hit just right. Have not stayed here for the hotel but went around and loved the vibe and friendly staff. I'd recommend!

Yelp
This place is absolutely gorgeous! I didn't stay here, just went for the live jazz and dinner in the lobby. The staff was great, ambience was amazing and my chicken fish was stellar. The crispy skin and flavors were just top notch. Great way to spend an evening whether you're a local or out of towner like myself. And it's right on the main strip so can easily walk to other shops or across the street to the beach.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel a few times. It's a fantastic location. The road is closed right in front of this hotel which makes it amazing. Right across the street is the ocean and a green space of park and public bathrooms. Hundreds of restaurants within walking distance. This locations walk ability is 100%. You can walk to Outdoor shopping, coffee, shops, restaurants, and like I said, the beach is right across the street. This hotel provides two chairs and towels for each room on the beach. You just walk over to the beach and let the workers know that you're with the BETSY and your room number and they will put up two chairs for you wherever you would like and give you towels. The owner lives here and has a couple of dogs himself. Occasionally you'll see him taking his dogs out for a walk. Very nice gentleman. The lobby is an amazing space in this hotel. They have live music it seems what seems like all the time but I think it's 10 AM to 10 PM. In the lobby, they have several different games you can entertain yourself with such as checkers, chess, and backgammon . The restaurant has amazing food. My Uber driver tells me they have the best steak on South beach. They have a lovely space for sitting on their front porch and down along the sidewalk. Since the road has closed for pedestrians in front of the hotel, it's a lovely sitting space between the hotel and the green space and the ocean. The price point of this hotel is usually very good. I almost hate to give the review because I stay here quite often because of the price point and the service. Let's talk about the service. The staff here goes above and beyond. Upon arriving, they usually offer you free bottles of water and depending on what hour you're coming they might offer you a Prosecco. Also all complementary. Of course they have free Wi-Fi. And I have a great bar in their lobby.

Yelp
Still love you after all these years, but why in the world do you not have a pup menu in the dining room especially as you are so pup friendly? Love, love, love your peanut butter pup biscuits at the check-in counter. So much so in fact that I had a little nibble myself. Why there are no extra pup dining options anywhere is kinda strange in this super friendly environment. I ended up ordering extra $10 chicken for my avocado toast to give to the pup. Nonetheless, still love you and all that you offer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yelp
Amy the manager had reached out to me on 12/02 and told me to give her a detailed explanation of what happened I did and can you believe since 12-2 that they have not responded, she mentioned she would make it right and they didnt let alone have the decency to respond. I will make an official complaint since they do not seem to honor what they say.

Yelp
We absolutely love this Hotel. It is conveniently located on the north end of South Beach which is the quieter end and the street in front is blocked from vehicle access. The ambiance is very upscale, eclectic, cool and cozy with a Gatsby vibe of a hotel from the 30's/40's. There are tons of areas to lounge in throughout the hotel, including a library which is definitely different. The whole place has exquisite taste in furnishings and they even have an art installation gallery on the premises. The staff were all accommodating and very nice to interact with. You could tell that they enjoyed working there. While it can be a little pricey for drinks and some meals but they were all very good. it is to be expected from an upscale boutique hotel. You are just a walk across the street to the beach area and a close walk to all the restaurants and night spots down the boulevard as well as all the other nice venues along Collins and Washington St., including Espanola Way. Can't forget to mention the rooftop pool and bar with great views. We definitely would have loved to stay longer but will definitely be back to visit. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

John H.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and had a great time talking to the bartender and the operations manager. The place is so nice, the hospitality is top notch! The truffle fries were amazing! Can't wait to go back for the jazz music and some time at the rooftop bar. Check this place out for sure.

One of the best hotels we've been to. The staff were top notch!! Such a good vibe & great location.

Yelp
The food and the service here are amazing. I followed recommendations to come to this restaurant and I was not disappointed!!! A++++++++++++++ Gonzalo was excellent with recommendations and service was perfect! Eat here!

Yelp
Good food. A bit pricey, but not out of line for the neighborhood. I really appreciated that they immediately noticed, without my mentioning it, that my table was wobbly and fixed it with a wedge. All restaurants should do this, but most do not. Good ambiance.

Yelp
Super classy place with tons of charm! Little hidden hotel gem at the end of Ocean Drive. Prices are rising and this places justifies it with impeccable customer service and personal touches throughout the establishment. The doormen-bell guys Juan & Fritz had excellent service with great knowledge & suggestions for the stay. They were extremely thoughtful as it pertained to our 4 year old son and consistently showed us love & lots of laughs. Front desk was amazing as Hendrick set the tone/standard of the BETSY with a spectacular room and making sure that our stay was what we needed from day one thru our entire stay. Esra also at the front desk was very helpful during checkout & very personable. He suggested we stay another day or several considering the current hurricane concerns which my wife and I contemplated for about 30 seconds haha. The LT restaurant never let down from the great morning services with Bradless & Rene' to the dinner times with Carlos. Food was impeccable throughout with great selections...and the popovers were beyond amazing! Attention to detail is obvious in this eatery from the outstanding café latté's to the famous award winning cheeseburger! Art & Paul at concierge were great in communication as they applied a special little touch to welcome us as we celebrated my wife's birthday!! It's the small things in life that make it very special and my family and I each felt very special here!!! Thank you to the team @ the Betsy S. Beach, the Family and especially to the CEOs Betsy, Rosa & Daisy & their lovely parents Lesly and Jonathan for making us feel right at home. It was indeed a pleasure and we hope to see you all in the near future. God bless. Cheers!

Yelp
Outstanding service ...You can't ask for a better place. Everything from rooms, to food, to service. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful...Fritz and Eros thank you! The lounge has an amazing atmosphere, piano playing every night. At the restaurant, Sheila served us. I was completely blown away by her level of service. She was knowledgeable about every meal and really went above and beyond to make our breakfast experience be one that we will remember. Will definitely be returning to this hotel when we visit Miami again.

Yelp
On a quiet, sunny, calm, Monday morning I was strolling south beach alone and stumbled across Betsy. I was first nervous to eat here since I was alone. Most restaurants seem to shy away from solo diners since they would rather give the table to bigger parties. Daniel greeted me with a gentle smile and welcomed me with a menu and water. One thing I appreciated about the menu it was straightforward and not overwhelming. I decided to start my day off with Almond French toast and a healthy green juice. Daniel was assertive and made sure I didn't need for anything. After breakfast he gave me a tour of the restaurant and even introduced me to the owner of the hotel. The owner was personable and friendly. I got the chance to meet his dogs Betsy and Rosa. My overall experience was 10 out 10. Thank you

Yelp
I'm a local and this is one of my favorite places. My girlfriend and I walk over all the time with our two small daughters for brunch or just drinks. The staff are so kind and accommodating and really go out of their way to welcome us. It's such a wonderful atmosphere of cozy areas to sit and beautiful piano music, the food is also excellent. It's quite obvious that the staff are all happy and glad to be there which can only mean that the owners treat them well also. Take care of your employees and they will take care of your customers. Such wonderful kind energy and that makes me only happier to support them with my business. When there are so many other options to choose, this one always just feels like home.

Reagan B.

Yelp
The service was awful! Room service took 3 hours and the order was completely messed up both times we ordered. The luggage was never brought to our room. Each time for service we had to call and check multiple times. Staff were rude.
google avatar

Alberto G.

Yelp
The Betsy is curated, almost a perfection. As you walk in, it feels like your own Living Room with a bar attached to it. The staff are extremely welcoming. We walked up to the roof top bar-pool and it had one of the most amazing views of miami. We just had drinks no food.
google avatar

Donna C.

Yelp
Great service, friendly staff. Good food and drink. I got the Mahi tacos and they were delicious. Can't remember the cocktail. But it truly was tasty. Indoor and outdoor seating options. I'd definitely visit again

Yelp
We have just spent 9 days over a 2 week period at The Betsy and it's FABULOUS. Check out my other review on TA The hotel is beautiful and the staff are what make it perfect Shout out to Henrick the hotel manager - we had a slight issue with valet parking and he was incredibly helpful in sorting everything out for us Juan and Fritz are also part of the amazing team at the hotel - always there with a smile and ready to help. Front desk team Mario and Nathalia also really helpful and kind And last but not least Bradlys who served us on our last day at breakfast an absolute gent. I was so sad to leave especially after British airways cancelled our flight and we Had to leave the hotel a day early to make an earlier flight thank goodness for Virgin Atlantic! Thank you to The Betsy team for making our holiday truly spectacular I am so grateful

Yelp
We enjoyed this hotel. Front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Chris and Fritz seemed to really enjoy helping guests and always had a smile. The rooftop pool bar was nice and quiet. I don't recall the bartenders name, but a very helpful when choosing drinks and snacks. This is not a budget hotel, but you get what you pay for here. We will stay here from now On when we're in town.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and in a perfect location. The restaurant is excellent, and the service provided by almost all the staff members of hotel and restaurant was commendable. I would have given them a 5 stars if it wasn't for the worst concierge ever. He was rude and uninterested to help you. He just said to take the city tour and said "if you want to visit Miami, just take the tour. Your choice. (He went back to his computer.) " I later met up with my friend who stayed at the W Hotel. The concierge there went beyond and provided details of neighborhoods and specific places to visit which made our trip memorable. Very unfortunate. Hope Betsy finds a better concierge.
google avatar

Yelp
I am not sure how to convey our appreciation and gratitude towards the entire staff at the Betsy Hotel without making this a dissertation; however, if anyone is looking to have an amazing experience on South Beach in Miami, I would highly suggest staying at the Betsy Hotel. From the location, the ambiance, to the initial greeting by Juan at the front door, to the team at the front desk, the reservations manager, the bar staff, and everyone that you would interface with is simply amazing! The leadership at this hotel is very fortunate to find and retain a great team of professionals! This has become our south beach home!

Yelp
Must visit ! Stop by.. enjoy breakfast with excellent service, plenty of refills and great tasty food. Dinner look great too but was really booked. Had a coffee w milk, then switched to tea and just hung out people watching. Ocean drive in front of the best area in S Beach. Clean, friendly and quick service. But most importantly Delicious food!

Yelp
I absolutely loved my stay here. I came for a company trip, so we had a huge group of almost 40 people. Their amazing service never changed the 5 days we were there to bug them! Everyone had the breakfast package, which was well taken advantage of and so delicious (free coffee refills as well). We linked a credit card to our rooms so whenever we ordered at LT Steak or at the bar, we had the option to charge it to our room and we received an invoice when we checked out. The beach is literally across the street, and checking in for chairs/towels/umbrella was seamless. We had 2 snafus since we had meetings hosted at The Betsy as well. We had packages delivered to the hotel for our meetings/the team, and they were missing when we arrived to check in. It turns out they were moved to our conference room but wasn't communicated to anyone. Keeping the 5 star rating though, because so many people jumped into action on our behalf to find these packages and they even checked security footage. Really appreciated the fast turnaround! We shared dietary restrictions for our holiday dinner party also hosted at The Betsy, but they weren't accounted for when we had a lunch meeting with the same group of people. Fast turnaround here as well, but would have been nice if some folks had gotten their food the same time as everyone else. Since they've connected 2 buildings with the famous orb/egg, it was a little confusing finding our conference rooms at first. This is usually fine if we were guests who could afford the leisure time to get lost, but we had a packed schedule for our company trip. You need to take 2 different elevators to get to their cafe/conference rooms. Prepare for a fun maze when you visit! Overall a dreamy stay with the live music, excellent drinks, top notch service (they remembered my name after meeting me only once), comfortable rooms and beautiful hotel.

J H.

Yelp
Please be aware that they add a $51.30 per night charge to your rate at check-out ($45 + taxes). This was not explained to me when I made the reservations!

Yelp
1 block from the ocean facing a park, this is a great walkable, boutique hotel in South Beach. It's near the end cold the craziness of Ocean Boulevard so you have the option to walk down, but you have an escape. The service at the hotel was phenomenal. There are chairs on the beach for guests to use. The rooms are classy and clean. The hotel was a nice oasis on a hot day, the hotel AC works great!! My only knock in the hotel (why I didn't give it the 5th star) -- the noise levels aren't bad, but they aren't great. And I'm not talking about party or late night drunk person noise (that was fine) the walls are just thin. At 7 am Sunday morning all the trash is picked up from the back alley and there are a lot of dumpsters for them to go through. Coming from west coast time, that was a little annoying. We could also very clearly hear the person in the room above us walking around at all hours. Brought me back to my college apartment days :) so maybe request a room on a higher floor facing the ocean.

Yelp
The food was great but a bit pricey the service given by Charlotte and José was fantastic. They are amazing people and the ambience was very quaint quiet and classic. Charlotte gave great customer, service and food service, she made us feel as if we had known her forever. So sweet José told her she's always that way.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the Bar/Lounge - we didn't stay at this hotel but it became a great spot for a drink. Classy, sophisticated and charming describes the hotel's lounge ambiance and staff. Every drink was delicious, but I made a quick favorite of the Guava Drive. It's like no other drink on South Beach- and congrats to this great bartender who made it perfect each time!

Yelp
The hotel was superb, my wife and I enjoyed the location. With it being at the end of of Ocean Blvd it's away from the crowds. But since it is at the road close barrier there is a lot of turn around traffic. The staff is awesome and helpful at every turn. It can be a little confusing to get from front building to back building but it's cool since you get to check out the art around the building. Only a couple complaints I have, was the rooftop pool wasn't open at night and people selling drugs in alley way. Seemed almost every other day of our visit someone was asking you to buy illegal substances. So we choose to avoid the orb area. The $40 a day resort fee I have mixed feelings about. I don't do yoga, I never used the gym, I never went to the beach to just sit and use a umbrella and chair, used pool once in 4 days due to its hours open and still got charged $40.00 a day extra. But it is what it is, just think it would of been better to be charged for what you used vs just charging you upon check out. But it is what it is...

Karim A.

Yelp
Annual trip to Miami and we only stay at the Betsy. Its location is perfect as you can get all around South Beach walking. The beach is great and the Betsy does a great job of having tons of chairs, umbrellas and towels. The rooms are practical and efficient uses of space. We come for four days and the two of us have plenty of space. But the most impressive part of the Betsy is their staff. In particular we love Rene, Juan and Nathan at the restaurant. They're just excellent people. Jose the manager is ever present and considerate. We will continue to stay here when we visit.

Tessa M.

Yelp
Booked two king suites. Showed up at check in and were given two rooms with twin beds. No mention of the change, so we had to awkwardly return to the lobby again to sort it out. Meanwhile our luggage sat in the lobby for an hour -- we finally brought it up ourselves. On the upside, they gave us a partial dinner credit and the restaurant was very good. Overall I'm not sure I'd pick this hotel again.

Christin A.

Yelp
This hotel was not only a highlight of my Miami long weekend, it was a highlight of my year. Fritzner at the front desk was amazing, Paul and Art the fun and informative concierges, and Gigi at the bar were great. Plus the wonderful folks in the dining room for breakfast. It was truly a special place that I feel lucky to have stumbled upon for a short vacation. A short walk to the amazing beach and a home away from home when you return. I walked to the legendary Joe's for seafood and the adorable Espanola alleyway for food and drinks and Lincoln Street for bigger brands. Also had the chance to take an ArtDeco walking tour of local hotels, the post office, and other ArtDeco sights. They even checked me in a couple hours early. Hope I'm lucky enough to return again someday. Thanks Betsy!

Yelp
Had an amazing stay at this nice boutique hotel located on the calmer side of south beach. Nice decor, clean and cozy rooms. Great live performances to set the ambiance. The hospitality was amazing! Fritzner was amazing from check in to check out. Special shoutout to Gustavo, our sever from the rooftop bar! Our server Aleks from dining was also great! Overall, I would say the best part about my experience at the Betsy Hotel was the hospitality and feeling genuinely welcomed. I find this to be especially crucial when traveling as a minority.

Yelp
Nestled at the end of Ocean Dr., is this oasis called the Betsy Ross Hotel. They recently went under the renovation and it exceeded our expectations! We stayed for two nights in a king room facing the ocean. The view is beautiful but the only downside was that the king rooms facing the ocean do not have balconies. Other than that everything else was fantastic. I can't say enough about the service at this hotel, it's exceptional! We had the Betsy American breakfast each morning in LT Steak and Seafood and it was a huge, delicious meal with Scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, potatoes, toast, juice and coffee (yes all of those things!). It definitely fueled us for the day. We also got two complementary beach chairs and one umbrella which was amazing. We had a really nice time at the beach and even went to the heated rooftop pool at the end of the day. I hope to stay here again one day.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. Very eclectic. I enjoyed the ambiance. The rooftop pool was fabulous. Ana & Jennifer were great at the restaurant for the hotel breakfast. I'll definitely return.

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow, style, style, style, old school, old school, old school, classy, classy, classy. I am a fan - my husband and I drive past all the time and alkways admire its finery. It was built in 1942 by L. Murray Dixon, the architect responsible for many famous Miami Beach Art Deco hotels, The Betsy stands as the lone surviving example of Florida Georgian architecture on Ocean Drive today. Enamored with "the colonial chic" of the post Great Depression era, Dixon's 'betsy Ross Hotel' has an expansive four-column portico and signature shuttered windows. I have been inside the foyer - which is gorgeously decorated - you will find a cosy bar and will hear the tinkle of the piano playing most evenings. Here is some history - 2009 - there is apparently a writers room which opened in 2009 and has welcomed writers since. (Hyam Plutzik, father of The Betsy's owner, Jonathan, was a three-time Pulitzer Prize finalist in poetry. They have hosted more than 800 artists in the Writers' Room and host meet & greets and readings in the Library. The Plutzik family personally curates the visual art exhibits with emphasis on photography from emerging and established artists.) 1970 - The Betsy Ross Hotel was added to the State Registry of Historic Places. 1942 - The Betsy Ross hotel opens and US troops are stationed at The Betsy Hotel during WWII.

Yelp
My team stayed here for a work trip. The rooms were nice and spacious with comfortable beds and our conference space suited our needs and even had an attached outdoor small stage area which was good for when we split up into teams to do projects. It was attached to a coffee shop which was convenient for breaks. When I checked in I was offered a welcome drink. On one day I was able to take advantage of the free yoga class which was nice although since it had rained over night there were limited dry spots for yoga mats. The location is great, right across from the beach with plenty of walkable restaurants and bars and the pool and rooftop bar area is relaxing. There's an additional pool on the ground floor. Now for the not so great things. The layout is a little confusing with the hotel in two different buildings across the alley way. You can either ride multiple elevators to get from one building to the next or go around outside / through the alley. The hallway smells a little musty. My hotel room was on the first floor of the other building. It was right next to a gate that entered into the alley and required a hotel key to get into it. This was convenient for exiting the hotel, but on the last night when I got home rather late and went to enter the gate my key card did not work! I was alone in a dark alley and had to walk outside to the front of the hotel to get a new key at around 2AM. I did not feel very comfortable. And then on top of this when I explained the situation, the hotel gave me a new key to my room in the middle of the night without checking any identification or verifying who I was. I now felt even less safe. That is not okay to do. I loved the size of the room and bathroom and it had good A/C and did not have the musty smell the hallways had. They provided comfortable robes. As I mentioned my room was on the first floor and it had large floor length windows that opened into the atrium. The atrium was across the way from where our conference space was. This offered me little privacy from my work colleagues possibly passing by if I wanted to have any natural light. I constantly had to remember to close my shades before showering, changing, etc since the room was on display to anyone passing, strangers, my boss, etc. The desk chair in my room also had a broken leg. Upon checking out the hotel attempted to charge me the amenity fee that I had already paid when booking through my company's travel site. I caught it and they removed it, but I think some of my colleagues paid it twice. That is pretty shady. On writing this I question whether the hotel even deserves the 3 stars I gave it since there were some grave mistakes they made, however the location, room setup, and outdoor amenities are quite nice. They just need to get some of their policies together. And maybe outfit the ground floor rooms with separate shades to let in light from the top part of the windows.

Yelp
Loved staying here! Mario and Juan were so attentive and helpful our entire stay. We felt so welcome and will be staying here every time we come to Miami!

Yelp
The Betsy Hotel in Miami Beach has been one of my favorite places to sit in their Lounge listening to live music. The setting is absolutely beautiful, homey and relaxed with a laid back and friendly crowd. It's also a staple of the community, offering special events like an opera duet night, writer's group and LT Steak and Seafood for dining. My husband and I together with another couple were enticed by the menu and decided to eat there one night. The service was excellent and attentive, the outdoor seating comfortable and attractive. Unfortunately, most of us did not enjoy the pricey food. As this was a steakhouse, I ordered a 10 oz Wagyu Skirt Steak with chimichurri sauce. The steak was dry and stringy and the sauce not well balanced. What a disappointment! I love The Betsy as an institution but I doubt I would eat there again.

Yelp
My husband and I just finished our stay at this wonderful hotel! They were not only very welcoming but they accommodated us and had a room available the moment we arrived (we arrived at 8am and check in is at 4pm). Juan was absolutely fantastic! He gave us a tour, recommendations on places to go and suggested time of the year to come back! Fritz was such a gentleman as well and was kind enough to store our bags for us after we had checked out and had time to visit Little Havana. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean! Which is something I am always worried about. Overall it was a fabulous stay! Thank you Juan, Fritz and staff at The Betsy!

Yelp
After a horrific day of travel, Sidd greeted me with a smile and a glass of cold Prosecco. He got me checked into the room expeditiously so I could begin my vacation. I joined friends for dinner at the steakhouse and found it to be phenomenal. When my flight got delayed on my final day, I again found Sidd working at the desk and he got an hour delay to my checkout time so I could rest before my flight. The service and property were incredible.

Yelp
From the moment we were greeted at the front door we felt the hospitality. Every time we walked through the lobby, or stopped for a bite to eat, Fritz and Juan were there to greet us, and make sure we were having the best stay possible. The roof top pool and bar had all the vibes, and the breakfast was exceptional, but what set The Betsy apart from other Miami Beach hotels was the service.

Yelp
The Betsy is a haven or heaven-on-earth for Artists & Art Lovers. It is a chic, quaint boutique hotel right at the beginning of Ocean Drive. It is not hard to find but the Parking Valet was. Had to call the hotel & wait, then be given directions accordingly. It's a nuisance! But once inside, it's ALL WORTH IT! It smells GOOD, through & through, upon entrance, through the hallways & in your room! Upon check-in, they provide Prosecco (dry, thank God) or water. The staff are ALL VERY accommodating, helpful, personable and highly professional. They also represent each corner of the globe, so, all should feel welcome and at home. They provide concierge service for the Beach, across the street (chairs, towels & umbrellas.) There is gourmet Continental breakfast included from 7a-11a, if you desire. There's a VERY WELL APPOINTED Gallery with opulent & ethereal photography. Today's musings are Queens of African descent across the diaspora. The credited Artist is Alexandra Leytton. They have series of musicians, writers & poets to exceed your cultured fascinations. They have 2 pools, one is on the Rooftop with the Bar. Each room has only a mini fridge, no microwave but a Homedics Sound Spa, which puts you right on the Beach or at the Lake or in a Rainstorm. Overall, the PERFECT place for a weekend getaway
