James Beard-Nominee Chef David Bull Leaves Austin to Open a Restaurant in Mineral Wells | Eater Dallas

"A small, locally owned pie shop run by Phyllis down the street whose desserts are highly regarded by the chef; the restaurant is partnering with her for pastries instead of maintaining an in-house pastry team." - Courtney E. Smith

Hit or miss. Some items were really good, some were okay and some were not good. The pastries, hand pies and pepperoni rolls were really good. The donuts were okay, the maple bacon and Fruity Pebbles were the best ones. The coffee tasted burnt and was the worst part of our purchase. We did not try any cookies, cakes or regular pies this time.

The food itself at the Pie Shoppe is outstanding. My daughters absolutely love all of their sweet treats, especially the donuts. Unfortunately, on a recent trip home from a doctor’s appointment in Pittsburgh, I called informing them that the removal of the stitches in my hand took a bit longer than I’d expected, and I wouldn’t arrive there until 5:02 when closing time is 5:00. I offered to pay via credit card, and they could simply set my items outside after I was disrespectfully told they would not keep their doors open a minute past 5:00. Once again, the employee not so kindly let me know she could not and would not put my items outside. I completely understand adhering to set business hours, however I didn’t feel asking for two minutes of grace was too much, considering we live quite a distance from the Pie Shoppe. I had my exact order prepared, and was merely trying to purchase donuts to take home to my young girls. I’m very disappointed.

I got a dutch apple pie and a walnut log. Both desserts were fresh and tasty. The only issue I had is that none of the items had prices on them. I did notice once I was in line that there was a digital board that showed pricing for some of the items offered, but not everything.

Stop for Lunch Specials! I am so happy the Pie Shoppe opened the deli back up. I own a business right down the road and the lunch specials are better than ever. I have been supporting them since they started the specials back up. Thursday’s Taco Salad was delicious! Love the Mac & Cheese. The Chicken Filet Sandwich and Meatball Sub were amazing as well. I am trying all the specials at least once so I can send my customers there.

Dear Pie Shoppe I just want to let you know how much I enjoyed my first visit to the shop. My wife and I enjoy visiting bakeries and trying different pies. And your pie shop was very high on the list of places to visit. I absolutely love the way you are ensconced in a little mountain valley. It was a beautiful drive during fall color week. We were amazed at how busy the shop was when we got there because we got there very late in the day. But we were very pleased at how quickly the line moved and how well-stocked you were with pies. We got a small lemon and pumpkin pie as well as a full sized cherry crumble pie. We absolutely love the cherry crumble pie and how dense the filling is. The pumpkin pie and lemon pie are excellent as well. I even got a small loaf of bread for my mother and she said it was excellent. We can’t wait to come back and try more pies. I’m eager to try the raisin pie because I have never had one. Thanks for all you do and for creating little bites of happiness. Cheers. Bryan.

I bought a raspberry pie from their remote location / truck in Johnstown. Absolutely wonderful. Lots of fruit and tart, not too sweet. Nice crust, too. And good value!

Visited the store July 5th, as my family was on our annual camp trip to laurel hill state park for the fourth of july. We have visited the pie shoppe bc it's a tradition for my niece's and I to get up early and take the trek from the campground. Spent 70 dollars. 2 dozen cinnamon rolls. Dozen of donuts and 6 gobs. The cinnamon rolls were either overcooked or stale. They were very hard and no cinnamon inside the roll. The gobbs 3 out of 6 had egg shells in them. The chocolate chip gobbs cookie didn't even have taste and very dry. Tasted like it was from frozen state. The quality of the product has slipped in the past 2 years. Very disappointing to be excited for the goodies and get bad product.

If you find yourself in Laughinton, Pennsylvania, you absolutely have to stop by the local pie shop. While their pies are fantastic, the real stars of the show are their doughnuts. These aren't your typical mass-produced doughnuts; they are a delightful testament to old-fashioned baking. Each one is a perfect golden-brown, with a crispy exterior that gives way to a soft, fluffy interior. The flavors are classic and comforting, from the perfectly glazed to other delightful variations. It's clear that this shop has mastered the art of the doughnut, and it’s a taste of pure, delicious nostalgia.
