Well I would love to post a photo of the wedding cake that we ordered for our wedding... However, THEY F**KING FORGOT TO MAKE IT!
My wife and I decided to go with the Pie Shoppe for our special day. They were a preferred vendor for our location, they had the best reviews, and they had the best tasting cakes!
We ordered a very special naked cake, because that's what my wife had always wanted. Additionally we ordered 200 donut-holes; to be sitting out along side our popcorn bar and cookies.
Right before we make our entrance into our reception, the owner of the lodge we were at, tells us that our cake still hadn't arrived. (We were told that the cake would be delivered at 1:30, just before the ceremony. It was now 4:00)
When I called and asked where our cake was, the response I got was "Was that today?" She went on to say that they must have lost our order slip, and that they didn't have anything for us.
I can't tell you how close to throwing my phone I was. How do you forget to make a wedding cake for a couple's most important day of their lives!?
The Pie Shoppe made an attempt to rectify the situation with a thrown together cake that came 5 hours late. However by that time, some of the guests had left. The ones that hadn't were all questioning why we didn't have the naked cake that we had bragged about. It also had fruit toppings on it that we specifically said we did not want on our cake.
The donuts came from the Wal-Mart bakery. That pissed me off. Especially the fact that they came so late, that almost all of them went to waste.
On a personal note... not having your wedding made or delivered on time really screws up the entire reception! The DJ had a set schedule for everything, including the cake cutting. Without a cake, it just completely messed up everything from dinner and toasts, to dancing and dessert. We don't even have the top layer of our cake for our one year anniversary.
Despite how little we tried to let it show, it really destroyed our mood and happiness for the day.
They have sent us all of our money back, but it still doesn't fix the only wedding we will ever have. Needless to say, I would not recommend The Pie Shoppe for anyone else's wedding in the future. Neither will the 100+ guests that we had, and all know that the Pie Shoppe, forgot our wedding.
