Philly’s Best Polish Restaurants | Eater Philly

"This Roxborough staple is known for its potato cheddar pierogi and Philly cheesesteak pierogi, but the menu features a wide variety of pierogi fillings. Owner Marie Thorpe says newer flavors like a pierogi stuffed with Old Bay, sharp cheddar cheese, and whipped with fluffy potato is becoming popular. Hot sandwiches are also crowd-pleasers, including the bestselling PK Stacker, a sandwich with potato cheddar pierogi, grilled smoked kielbasa, caramelized sauerkraut, onion, and spicy mustard on top of grilled rye bread." - Natalie Jesionka

Where to Get a Hot Dog in Philly - Eater Philly

"It may be called the Pierogie Kitchen but this Roxborough hangout has more than just potato-stuffed dumplings. In fact, Pierogie Kitchen is known for its so-called Stackers, where pierogies are added to sandwiches of immense proportions. The PK Dog comes with sauerkraut pierogies, cooper sharp American cheese, bacon, and a dog, all served on a toasted roll." - Dayna Evans

Today was my first successful visit to the pierogi kitchen and they did not disappoint! Eric waited on me and offered suggestions based on my preferences. He suggested I try the Philly Jawn, no onion, with a side of potato pancakes. While he was making my order I looked at the menu and came across the glazed pineapple kielbasa bites! They gave me a free sample pictured below and they are so delicious!! Eric is also the chef and does an amazing job with all of the things I had today. Definitely recommend 100% will be returning (quite possibly tomorrow). ❤️🤤

Google
Long time pierogi eater and maker. But the pierogies from here have me very confused. The instructions were do not boil, defrost and sauté . But once defrosted there was a ton of liquid in the bag. Tried to dry them off. Then pan frying was a disaster I used a ton of oil so that was not the issue. See pics … it was like they had never been boiled and in the end the dough was partially burnt and yet parts tasted like raw dough. Like raw flour. I was so excited to find a local place to find hand made pierogies. But …. I am not sure what is going on here.

Google
I'm obsessed with Pierogie Kitchen! Been eating here for years, they never disappoint. I love their handmade pierogies in a large selection of flavors like cheesesteak which are delicious. Their potato pancakes are so good, too. They have really friendly staff that feel passionate about this Mom & Pop shop and always help me decide what to get. If you're looking for old world flavor and quality from recipes passed down for generations, this is the place. This is also the place John Kruk from the Phillies raves about.

From 2011 to 2013 I lived on the same block as this place. Been living four and a half years in East Falls now, so I'm by the store at least once a week, if not 3-4 times a week, depending on the on my schedule. The perogies are just fine. I don't think they're the best in the city and honestly, having been raised Polish-Lithuanian in the heart of the old Polish Philadelphia, I don't think they're that great for the price...but I admire the small business, and they are always fresh and tasty, and the staff is always friendly and pleasant. I just wish they would expand a bit more so they could grow their popularity and also maybe cut costs to consumers more with larger volume pricing of their raw ingredients. That said, definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Google
PRIDE ?. This was one of the most disgusting Pierogi I have ever eaten. The holopchi have broccoli in it and your Polish. I spent $50.00 for this garbage just to throw it away. As a Ukrainian, this was very disappointing. If you would like to know how to make real authentic Pierogi or Holopchi I can show you. Do Not Waste your time and gas. NOT worth the trip.

Google
The bright blue sign caught my eye and pulled over on a whim. The line moved quickly, but also realized those in the know call ahead since it does take a bit to get the food out (but honestly, it was fast - they told me 25 minutes but it came out sooner). The woman taking my order was patient and friendly as I quickly scanned their extensive menu. The potato and cheese pierogies were creamy in the inside, the cheesesteak ones were meaty and definitely had that Philly flavor. Don't sleep on the stuffed cabbage!! Special shout out to the bar across the street for letting me use their bathroom.

Google
I have ordered from here plenty of times and had no issue and the food was even great. Tonight was a horribly bad. I order the PK schnitzel picture attached. This was the saddest version of this dish I have ever had. The pork was so cooked it was tough, the entire meal tasted like it was a frozen dinner without seasoning. For a place that does perogies to have mashed potatoes this bad isn't good. Its tough to order here due to the restaurant never having the items that they have due to selling out. The perogies came out very unimpressive tonight compared to their usually good standard. They were soggy and we added a side of kielbasa for 6$ and was an abysmal portion of this. You might sell well it was take out, but we ordered for 6PM and got there 9 till 6, and the food was sitting ready. By the time we got it home 4 minutes later it was cold. Needless to say I am very disappointed in a place I have been a patron at many times and pleasantly enjoyed!

Google
The zurek soup and brisket pierogies were delicious and the pork sandwich was so crispy. Our waiter Lindsay was awesome and attentive even though it was super busy in there! We love the Pierogie Kitchen!

Yelp
Ok, you can literally order any type of peirogie from here. I grew up in my household knowing two types - sauerkraut or potato with cheese and onion. I can be honest in saying I've only tried these two types here just because that's all I know. They are delicious. and I have never deviated from this. and if you've never made a pierogie by hand - you should realize how much time and effort goes into this. It's a lot. I've done it a lot growing up with my Grandma and have since stopped. I'd rather just buy good quality stuff from people who are willing to put in the effort. their borscht is pretty good. and their stuffed cabbage also good. I mean it's hard to compare to your Grandma on a large scale but they do a pretty good job. I mostly just get delivery so I don't ever really go inside. but the store is cute and small and very clean. Also- as a huge side note - if you want any fried fish on a Friday during lent - they make a very very delicious fried fish and you can get pierogies. it's a two fer. and so so good.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place because I always hear such good things about it but I guess I came on a off day because I am struggling to find good things to say. This place is super small - which I expected - but I was hoping they would have a few tables, or a table outside... nope so we ate in the car. This was my own fault for not realizing this. Regardless, I went in there with my husband and looked over the menu. My husband ordered 2 small pierogi plates of potato pierogis and loaded pierogis and he enjoyed both of them. We shared the 'Glazed Pineapple & Kielbasa Bites' which were very good, I really enjoyed the sauce. Now we get to the bad part... I listed off AT LEAST 5 items and every time I said one of them, I was told "We do not have that today." And it's not like we came 5 minutes before closing. It was at 4pm on a Saturday and they close at 8pm. The amount of times the cashier had to say, "We do not have it" was unreal. To the point, where people were laughing because I could not win. It took everything in me to remain nice and not walk out. I FINALLY found something, which at that point, I picked anything. Not even kidding. I ordered the 'Port Richmond' small plate which was Potato Onion Pierogies and, Sauerkraut Pierogies. The Potato Onion Pierogies were good, but I've had better and I did not enjoy the Sauerkraut Pierogies. Then again, I am not a big fan of Sauerkraut but like I said, I was grasping that straws. The staff were very nice but they need a list or something of what is not available that day because reading the whole menu back only to be told, "We don't have it" is not an enjoyable experience for me. Would I come back? No, nor would I recommend unless they decide to make up a list or some type of way to say what is not there that day.

Yelp
So we finally got around to visiting this spot and I don't think you will be disappointed. It's take out or frozen only. We did a few sampler plates to get a good idea of the offerings. First we got 3 dozen frozen to take home. The potato and cheddar, potato and onion and farmers cheese. I can only imagine that there will be fabulous if the samplers are any indication We sampled the Cheesesteak - cheesy rich and a really nice flavorful steak. Buffalo chicken - this was not my favorite but you definitely knew you were having a Buffalo chicken pierogi. For me the Buffalo sauce was a bit too vinegar based. Loaded baked potato - chive, cheese and bacon in every bite. A very nice offering. Potato cheddar - your basic flavor but it was excellent. This is really how you rate a pierogi restaurant. Excellent potato flavor, good cheese ratio. I will say that all the pierogi were stuffed full and there was no doubt about that variety you eating. This is a can't miss place for pierogi

Yelp
You can order and they will deliver it to you at the bar across the street. This is an awesome idea. When it's warm you can sit outside. Women owned and primarily operated. At least in the front of house. Pineapple and kielbasa, what a stellar combination. I'm not one for spicy but the honey Siracha wingettes were the best thing here. And to think I was almost gonna say no to that but my wife insisted. The philly cheese steak ones were probably a close second. Just so you know we got the broad street combo and the roxborough combo that had some of the more traditional flavors. Perfect amount of crisp on these too. You know some places go too crispy and a lot of the places that were at the polish fest were very wet. We are already looking at the menu for next time. If we could fit more food we would fit more food. "I would be interested in buying a pineapple." Said my wife after we finished. This place is five stars hands down.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I'm from NEPA where we have a larger Eastern European population and we are very big on pierogis, kielbasa, cabbage, etc so I came into this with high expectations. Friends suggested PK this week as our takeout dinner and looking over the menu I was very excited. I decided on the veggie chicken stacker. I imagine it would have been a better experience eating it right away instead of after being delivered, but I would not order another sandwich for delivery. The bread and chicken were tough and were not enjoyable. The pierogis were good, but nothing mind blowing. The coleslaw is a unique flavor journey between the apple and horseradish. I appreciate the effort but I don't know if it's for me. We also tried garlic & herb and farmers cheese pierogis. They had good flavor but were more pasta shell than filling. The potato pancakes are round balls (like hush puppies or falafel size) instead of the flat ones I'm used to. These were too deep fried tasting for them to satisfy the traditional pancake craving. You do get a fair amount of food for the price, but their spins on the the classics are not what I'm looking for when I want traditional pierogis and potato pancakes.

Yelp
I joke with my brother from another about how this is Poland's version of a ravioli These little orgasmic morsels of heaven will have your toes curling with your eyes rolling back types of experiences. Pretty much your taste buds will be experiencing an euphoric bliss. I mean how can you say no to freshly made pierogies, sauerkraut laying all around with sliced kielbasa and that sour cream resting over top like a safe blanket, holding all that goodness in place. If you're telling me no, no thankyou , you might as well tell me you hate your grandmother and can't stand the sight of kittens playing all around. Just do it, get in there and enjoy a dish or an amazing sandwich from the Pierogie Kitchen.

Yelp
Way more than just pierogies! The menu was more extensive than expected, but I kept it simple for my first time. I tried the Buffalo chicken and the mushroom horseradish pierogies with added caramelizad onions for both. The onions added that extra flavor which was needed for the mushroom pierogie. I got mostly potato and not as much mushroom with a very slight hint of the horseradish. For the chicken, it was just my level of spicy! I'd return for more of them and to try other items. I would have liked to be able to mix 2 options in one order of 6, but it worked out. Be sure to ask what's available upon arrival since some items were sold out.

Yelp
Love love love the dough! Just like my grammys! Brings back memories of making 100s of then for the holidays!

Yelp
We live roughly 2 miles from the pierogi kitchen, we heard all about it from some friends and decided to give it a try. We have now gone back close to a dozen times and have tried different flavors and options each time we visit. First thing I have to say, is that the employees that represent this company are fabulous. My first visit I introduced myself told them it was our first time and they bent over backwards to explain the menu and the choices. It was close to closing time and even with that coming up they stopped and took the time to help us without any hint of needing to hurry. Experience was so great and the food was so delicious we went back just several days later. The menu is so expensive that you would have to come in at least a dozen times to be able to try everything. I highly recommend coming in here to give yourself a true delight of deliciousness.

Yelp
Delicious pierogies! The fazed pineapple and sausage was sooooo delicious. You Can only order to-go. No indoor or outside sitting area which is a bummer since we traveled 2 hours to come eat here. I guess we should have asked prior to coming. No restrooms. We ended up taking our Togo food to the small bar across the street. They were very welcoming and allowed us to sit in the bar, eat our food, order a drink, and use their restrooms.

Yelp
I pass this place often and to be honest never had any desire to try it. My family came into town and they really like pierogis. With COVID they had a different flow. You have to place an order in advance for fresh the lady said sometimes they are booked for 2 days in advance. We couldn't order any fresh but we were able to choose from a decent but smaller selection to take some home frozen. We got 4 packs of 12 a variety chicken Sriracha, Philly cheesesteak, jalapeño cheddar, and regular cheddar. They were fantastic. We put a tiny amount of butter in a pan. Cooked the already boiled then frozen pierogis and they were done in about 7-10 min. We loved them! I don't eat meat but my family loved the Philly cheesesteak. I personally loved the jalapeño cheddar there was just the perfect amount of kick. The price came out to about $1 a pierogi but totally worth it and we will defiantly be heading back. They also had fresh baked pound cake and desert which they must be known for there were cakes everywhere inside Also, it's not the nicest aesthetically, actually kind of dirty and dumpy but it's fits well in Roxborough. Give them a try! Support local small businesses.

Yelp
Amazing food, friendly staff, will be buying a shipment as soon as they ship to Mississippi!!

Yelp
So I can only review taking food to go (mainly frozen perogies). I have now visited twice while visiting a friend close by and have both times taken frozen perogies to go. This last trip I also grabbed a loaf of rye bread and some frozen potato pancakes (those have yet to be consumed). The rye bread was so fresh and great taste. Made for some great avocado toast for breakfast. I adore the sauerkraut perogies... so darn good. You let them slightly defrost and just sauté with butter... really awesome! Hoping to get some additional flavors and maybe prepared items next visit. Frozen Pierogies

Yelp
Ordered takeout- when I first looked at the menu- my friend and I got excited at all the options. We got the sandwich with kielbasa, sauerkraut, brown mustard, and a Pierogie. The Pierogie set we got had cheesesteak, baked potato, and Buffalo bleu. Finally- we ordered the fried pickles. The fried pickles were DELICIOUS!! The Pierogies were... mushy. The baked potato one was the best. They were realllllly just okay. The sandwich came with the mustard and sauerkraut on the side. The Pierogie was- you guessed it- mushy. The rest of the sandwich was tasty- but nothing im in a rush to try again. All in all- if I were with friends and they wanted food from here I'd give it another try- but I'm in no rush. It was really just okay. The pricing wasn't too bad- just wasn't as out of this world as I expected!

Yelp
I ordered the Spicy Chicken Stacker for myself. The flavors were really good, however my chicken was very overcooked. That made it hard to eat because with every bite I had to pull really hard to separate it. Unfortunately this was my first time ordering a sandwich from here so my first impression of it isn't the best one. However, I would definitely try it again because of how good the flavors were. My fiance got the original pk stacker which was on point! The kielbasa was cooked perfectly and the pierogie on top really set the sandwich off. I may order that for myself next time. We also ordered a small plate of the honey siracha chicken pierogies. They were delicious! They were a little spicier than I thought they'd be, but the sour cream really helped to cut the spiciness. I definitely would get them again!

Yelp
The bomb...whether it's the classic potato and cheese or the potato and saurkraut OR the philly cheesesteak pierogie, these are excellent, tasty and good to go or to put in the freezer for later.
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
I tried two different pierogies, 6 for $7 each: * Potato onion: classic, and I like that the texture inside is like a chunky mashed potato * Savory pumpkin pierogies: this was the reason I came! I saw a sign in the window and I love pumpkin everything. It's not pumpkin spice flavor, but rather pumpkin and sage. This place is small but cute. We took our food to go, but if you wanted to eat there, know there is only dining space outside. After we ordered, we saw them open their freezer next to the register and take out our pierogies, so that would probably explain why they were a little soggy while delicious. That's my only reason for giving 4 instead of 5 stars.
google avatar

DNetta C.

Yelp
Whats not to love about pierogies?! They even have desert filled ones! Im obsessed with the kielbasa and sour kraut!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
So mad... was totally looking forward to grabbing some pierogi from the Pierogi Kitchen at the Port Richmond festival. Waited an hour and fifteen minutes in line to find out that they SOLD OUT of pierogi and only had kielbasa. How do you go to a pierogi festival and sell out of pierogi. So disappointed.
google avatar

Lala L.

Yelp
This is a cute local spot in Roxborough! There are a ton of pierogie options to try! And it's not just pierogie, there are salads, sandwiches, wraps etc. I had Original PK stacker and it was delicious; the kielbasa was cooked well and the pierogie on top was a perfect touch! I also had a side of honey sriracha pierogi which were seriously amazing!!! Those are definitely a must try!! I wasn't a big fan of the apple, horseradish coleslaw that came with my sandwich-it was an odd mix of flavors. My fiancé tried the spicy chicken stacker. Unfortunately, the chicken was wayy over cooked which took away from the sandwich. I do think if the chicken wasn't so over cooked the sandwich would have been really good! I would definitely try it again in the future in hopes the chicken is cooked right! All in all, highly recommend trying this local gem!!

Yelp
Rude customer service! Called over there and girl who answered the phone was very rude and not friendly at all.
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
Had these for dinner! One of my friends bought different frozen ones and cooked them. I got a hot meal delivered because my friend is the best and I am being spoiled haha. But let's talk pierogies. The potato cheddar onion was pretty good, classic flavors. The broccoli cheddar one was a tad saltier for my liking but not too bad. The Maryland crab was good but I wish it wasn't mixed with other flavors, I wanted to taste the crab a little more. My favorite tho I have to say was the stuffed cabbage. It was so delicious. The cabbage was sweet with just a tad of bitterness and the pork stuffing was to die for. Overall I thought the place was okay. I do want to try more flavors since they sell many different kind. I also want to try and go buy them fresh and ready to eat just to compare to the frozen ones. And I am definitely coming back for the stuffed cabbage!

Yelp
I have lived a couple of blocks from Pierogi Kitchen for many years, but never thought much of it. I am not Polish and didn't grow up eating pierogis'. Suddenly I decided to get them for my church fellowship for Easter after church. Little did I know they were a landmark. I ended up getting into line and waiting for almost 45 minutes to get them and the line behind me went to the end of the block. Apparently, there were people there from all of Philadelphia and one man came up from Atlantic City to buy Pierogi' from this particular place. They were so delicious and fresh and all of the members of my church wanted to name and address. Huge success.

Ted M.

Yelp
Fantastic pierogi! We had two different kinds and they were both delicious. We also had the kielbasa and sauerkraut which was wonderful. A slice of babka topped it all off. I'd come back for more pierogi anytime!

Joe P.

Yelp
the food here although expensive is very good pierogies as good as I ever had BUT THE MANAGER THERE ON 4/6 23 was without a doubt the most ignorant representative of a business I've ever been to at 17.00 for a babka I'm sure I can find it elsewhere I will NEVER RETURN

Emily F.

Yelp
Told our order would take 20 minutes we waited outside for an hour. Ordered 2 small pierogis and honestly both orders were at best a 2/10. Not worth it and won't be coming back
google avatar

Antionette T.

Yelp
Best Pierogie in Philadelphia, hands down!!! The Philly cheese steak Pierogie is our favorite. Also, try the potato cakes with crab meat OMG so freakin delicious!!!
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
I would give this spot 3.5 stars. I ordered the potato and cheddar pierogis with the fried pickles. The fried pickles were really good! I enjoyed the pierogis but the caramelized onions on top were too sweet, sort of tasted like too much wine was added. I'd come back to try more.
google avatar

Geoff B.

Yelp
Nothing super fancy or gourmet, just good quality pieriogie. They list 15 flavors or fillings on their menu/web site. Be sure to check the board or ask on phone for the seasonal offerings. They do offer take out. Easy place to call ahead and pick up an order on a night you don't feel like cooking. They accept credit cards.
google avatar

KT L.

Yelp
Good food and fast delivery. Pierogies could have been a bit more crispy. Cheesesteak pierogies are always a must at PK though.

Yelp
Ermaghered Beckys! These li'l crescents of comfort might put you in a temporary food coma, but that's only because food this well made and tasty should transport you to a happy place, where you float just above your body ... unbound by the limits of fitted clothes and carb counting. I don't even know how I've lived this close for so long and have never popped in. It was probably the ghost of girl-you-know-you-is-prone-to-extreme-weight-gain future telling me not to tempt myself, but that's all done now! Popped in today for lunch with a friend and promptly took over the one li'l cafe table with two chairs. The place is tiny and perfunctory. Clearly people like to stuff their faces with pierogies in the comfort of their own homes and not in public. Respect. A lot of people call ahead for their lunch orders, and given that the deliciousness is made to order and the wait space is pretty small, you may want to do the same. The menu is awesome and pretty self-explanatory: get you some frozen delights to go home and warm and serve, or get 'em served hot. There are also soups and other fixin's my culturally adventurous self haven't explored yet (Borscht I'm looking at you), but I can proudly say that today I did try both the pierogies AND a sammich - I mean stacker, as they call 'em in the Kitchen. YOU GUYS. I went in with my lips fixed on the devouring the original PK stacker, but Lawd! they were out of kielbasa. When I tell you that my spirit knows this sandwich is my destiny ... anyway, determined to wrap my mind around how you can put a pierogie on some bread with other ingredients, I ordered the spicy chicken stacker. [WHEN IS YELP GONNA LET ME GIF Y'ALL WITH MY WHOLE LIFE?! Because I so desperately want to insert a damsel doing a wall slide + Fantasia Barrino punching the air (google gif it) + all the Klumps herculesing at the dinner table.] This mug came out piping hot with the carmelized onions, melted cheddar and bacon cascading off the chicken cutlets the way glacier bits be melting. :::slow motion for me, slow motion for me::: I'm all outta words to tell y'all how scrumdiddlyumptious this stacker/sammich was. Just bereft. You just gotta go one day when you extree hungry and get one for yourself. The service is outstanding. Not only are the local regulars who pop in with their standing orders friendly and funny, but the staff is amazing. So sweet and accommodating and patient with people like me who don't know exactly how to place a to-go order for the warm and serve deliciousness. Like, now that I've been? I can say with my whole heart, that apart from them having operating hours that are just more convenient, I drove by the standing room only siege at Dalessandro's and just shook my head. Those hungry souls have no idea what they're missing just a few blocks up the street.

Monica M.

Yelp
These pierogies are very delicious. Love the potato pancakes too. Great find in the Manayunk area!!! Will definitely eat here anytime I'm in the area.

Yelp
I love pierogies (my favorite school lunch growing up and favorite church festival treat) and finally got the chance to stop at the Pierogie Kitchen on National Pierogie Day. Due to COVID restrictions, they were taking orders by phone and at a little outdoor booth. I grabbed frozen packages of the potato cheddar, Philly cheesesteak, and savory pumpkin pierogies and a container of sauerkraut. We enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak pierogies same day, and the others in the following weeks. They're super easy to prepare (just thaw and pan fry) and absolutely delicious. I would have loved more filling in the Philly cheesesteak pierogies, but I know the dough would not have been able to support more- it was just so good! I will have to try their hot food next time.
google avatar

Paulie C.

Yelp
Brought 2 dozen cheese steak and a dozen buffalo chicken (everyone's favorite) to the fire house (work) on the night of the Super Bowl and everybody loved them. Everyone said better then you can find in Port Richmond. They were more expensive then i thought they'd be but they were a total hit, so price was forgotten about after. (Bought frozen and cooked at work)

Yelp
Delicious pierogi and decent potato pancakes... which resembled South Asian potato fritters more than latkes, but tasty nonetheless! Would appreciate apple sauce with the potato pancakes though. Definitely get some frozen pierogi to go!

Jason G.

Yelp
First, this review has nothing to do with their food, and everything to do with their service. If you're like me, and would choose another place to have a pierogie based on service, then continue... So...there is an annual hoagie fest in Port Richmond. Let me describe this accurately...The line for a Pierogie was almost 1/4 mile long and they opened at 12pm. It was super hot, sun beating down on everyone, and line moving at a snails pace. They had 5 selections of Pierogis, 1 Kielbasa platter, and "wooder and soda". The pierogi selection was sold out by 12:45pm. The rest of their Pierogis (the main attraction) were sold out by 2:15pm. I waited on line from 1:15pm. Event hours are noon until 5pm. You would think they would tell people (who have been waiting over an hour on line...both hot and hungry) that they ran out of Pierogis, but no. There was a sign up front when you get to their booth that they are sold out, however, that doesn't help when you can't see the sign from the herd of annoyed people waiting. Total disappointment. People were very upset that they waited a LONG time for the one thing they are "famous" for. Wish they would have made an announcement after hearing constantly from upset people when they finally got to front of line. It's a Pierogie fest. Be prepared! They even said to me, "...You can go to their restaurant today (30 minutes away) if i wanted a pierogi....now why can't the restaurant bring the ingredients to the festival...there are 3 hours left?!?! Sweaty, hangry, confused, and annoyed. If you want a great pierogi, try "Mom Moms Kitchen" in Port Richmond. True neighborhood Pierogi heaven. Ask for Serena, she was an excellent waitress.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. We live in Collegeville and never take a trip to the city for any restaurant or food inquiry - but this place had to be visited. The staff was excellent and our food was delicious. Parking can be a problem, but so worth it. We will be back.

Yelp
Family loves their perogie trays! We generally go for the Gritty tray with kalbasa! Freds the whole family with extra for lunch!

Yelp
Pierogie Kitchen is a small storefront on the corner of Roxborough and Henry ave with just a few tables outside. It doesn't look like much but they have an extensive list of their namesake, pierogies. From the basic potato and onion to the mushroom potato horseradish, there is a wide variety of pierogies on the menu. They also have several sandwiches that incorporate the pierogies. On my last trip, my group got several orders of 6 to split. There is also an option to get a dozen of one flavor. Our selections included the herb/garlic/onion, Philly cheesesteak, buffalo chicken bleu cheese and sweet potato. My standout favorite was the buffalo chicken bleu cheese, however the Philly Cheesesteak was also stuffed and good. The sweet potato pierogie was the most unique pierogie I've had and I would certainly have it again. Authentic? I have no clue. Tasty? Absolutely!

Yelp
My daughter recommended The Pierogie Kitchen based on her seeing an outside crowd in warm weather and good foot traffic all year round. She was right. Today I found a great menu and staff, prompt delivery of food and found the variety of food we tried all delicious. Our selection did not scratch the surface of all of the menu items available which means I am going back for more and I recommend you do the same.

Yelp
Great quality which also has a fun twist on traditional polish food! Just wish the potato pancakes were bigger. Different than I've ever had but SO good. Crispy and delicious, same with the pierogie poppers and pk stacker. I was skeptical about pierogies being deep fried but omg def recommend and would get again. Good customer service too.

Yelp
Usually I have to go all the way to Port Richmond for pierogies, which is why The Pierogie Kitchen in Roxborough had been on my list for a while as a closer alternative. Though I missed the Polish granny vibes you'd get in Port Richmond, it's a cute shop. It is really set up for take out purposes , which we didn't know going in. Far enough from home and too hungry to wait, we ate at the sole customer table anyway. The idea of a pierogie inside a sandwich was too decadent to pass up. Also, the Original Stacker sandwich comes with all the things you might want from a basic Polish meal, potato and cheddar pierogies, mustard, and sauerkraut. For $7.50 this is a really filling sandwich with a fully stuffed pierogie on each sandwich half and an ample amount of flavorful smoked kielbasa. This sandwich packs in a real buttload of kraut, almost too much for me and I love the stuff. It's easy enough to scrape it to the side if need be. Does a pierogie need to be in a sandwich? I wouldn't give that a definite yes, all of the ingredients could have been enjoyed separately but this was a cost efficient way to get a bit of everything. Plus, if you value a more vertical meal, with a bit of everything in each bite, this is for you. Even with the small menu, there were a lot of items I wish I had room to try (Mushroom Potato Horseradish pierogie, borsht), so I'll have to come back. But I couldn't pass up on the Chocolate Ganache Pierogies. Though I wish the dough was a little sweeter to match, the hot, oozy chocolate was decedent. It even worked cold when I got hungry again a few hours later.

Yelp
Damn. Pretty good! I loved the olde city crab cakes, broccoli cheddar pierogis, potato pancakes and the fried pickles. Loved it all. Great concept. Great food. I like the names of the platters too. Def will have to try "The Roxborough"next time

Yelp
This was the weekend we dropped off our son in Jefferson University. Enjoyed exploring the wonderful places to eat in philly. Pierogie Kitchen was our last stop before heading home. Honestly came here by accident because one of the restaurants up the block was too crowded..what a pleasant surprise. The Pierogie plate, spicy chicken slider and the kielbasa with sauerkraut were delicious. The outdoor seating was a plus. All in all if you are ever in Roxborough stop by. You won't be dissapointed.

Yelp
Ordered from Market Menu which means the stuff comes frozen. We had the loaded baked potato and jalapeño cheddar potato pierogies which were among the best I've ever had. This says a lot because I grew up with pierogies at home and church festivals AND my mom lead the church pierogie committee making pierogies for weeks ahead of the annual festival. The traditional meat and rice galumpkies (we call them halupki) were disappointing though. They weren't very flavorful and the tomato sauce was very plain. However, my daughter loved her vegetarian galumpki. We look forward to trying every pierogi on their menu. Order was ready for pickup right on time and the staff was very pleasant.

Yelp
Outstanding! Picked up a couple of dozen pierogies, both varieties were fantastic! My half Polish daughter was surprised by the extensive menu, which included potato pancakes, chacuterie (should be named chacuteriski though), stuffed cabbage, and all other Polska essentials. They even have a pierogie sundae, which sounds weird, but is made with chocolate-stuffed pierogies. Will try that the next time. Definitely worth a try for the variety of menu items!

Yelp
All kinds of excellent pierogies!! They freeze great. If you want them to taste perfect. Boil them for a few minutes then sauté them in butter and onions. They sell some entrees but they tend to disappoint. Outside of going to Port Richmond this is a go to destination.

Yelp
Moving to Philly, the one thing I noticed right away is the lack of pierogie places here. I'm from Pittsburgh so I'm used to having pierogies at every corner. After much searching around, this particular place caught my eyes. It's a small little take out place that sells frozen and fresh pierogies made in house. I ordered what the cashier recommended and got the classic jalapeño and the sweet potato cinnamon. Both were great choices with different flavors to offer. The classic jalapeño had a nice kick with well seasoned dough. The sweet potato was on the sweeter side with a hint of cinnamon. Service was wonderful and pierogies well done!
