A friend and I came to this establishment around Fri 6/6/25. The reason why I didn't review this place then is because I try to be nice and understanding. Firstly, the young brunette Waitress with a pony tail (think it may've been braided) didn't seem too pleasant. Although she wasn't overtly nasty, her energy seemed a bit cold with no smiles throughout the entire interaction. My friend and I were interested in the Pork Sandwich and the Greek Sausage. On the Sandwich Menu Page, we saw it read as "All deluxe sandwiches include coleslaw & fries. Deluxe add $5.99......." When my friend asked if the BBQ Pork Sandwich came with a lot of fries (if we wanted them), the Waitress said a very simple and short, "Yes" , while walking away.
I realize associates know what they know. But, in the moment, it didn't seem like she cared or was trying to answer that question. My friend went ahead and ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich with Fries and I got a Greek Sausage with Fries. Later, a young blonde woman/Food Runner brought the food out. After setting the plates of food on the table, she asked, "Did we need anything else?" As I want to be a gentleman, I didn't answer, but looked at my guest (friend) first to see if she needed anything. My guest (friend) said no as the young blonde Food Runner was still looking at me. I simply told the Food Runner no, not trying to be rude at all nor was I in a bad mood. After saying no, I don't know why, but she got this nasty annoyed look on her face.
As we were eating, my friend said the Pork Sandwich wasn't seasoned that well and my Greek Sausage wasn't either, so we both just put barbecue sauce on it. Once we got the check, I paid and took my receipt. Later that night, and while eyeing the receipt more, I saw there was a $5.99 fee in addition to our sandwiches. From the Menu, I thought the fries came with the sandwiches. I saw no indication or labels as to what was a "Deluxe" sandwich, so I assumed they all were. I drove back to Hickory Hills from around the Oak Park area (where I'm from) to reevaluate those charges. The Manager was very nice and understanding while saying there is indeed an additional $5.99 to get coleslaw and fries with any sandwich.
Despite the Restaurant Manager being nice, and asking others who've never been there to make sense of it, the menu advertisement and sales wording for sandwiches could be more clear. It would truly make more sense if it read, "Sandwiches do not come with a side. Make it a Deluxe Combo meal (w/ coleslaw and fries) for $5.99."
