The food was decent however the Fried pickles were kinda salty, French fries were good but seemed almost cooked too hard, Ribs were delicious, Shrimp were good. Greek Sausage and peppers were good the chopped pork was a little in the dry side and our BBQ chicken was some pieces were juicy and tender however the wing portion was too hard to eat and near bottom of chicken breast was dry the service and staff were great. We didn't get to try the pork chop yet so our next time we will try it.

I went on a Monday for the half slab of ribs & fries special for $12.95. . I got the ribs with fries & texas toast ..the rib tips ..baked potato & corn ..the ribs for that deal were good .tasty . .nice smoke ..a decent char ..tender and evenly cooked ..the rib tips were ok but a bit too fatty ... OQ

Manager seat his friends before us …and we were on waitlist. Cut ahead of us all in wait area rather than others waiting to get table. Then proceed to tell ladies it’s ok don’t worry… The food was good as expected- service good no I say excellent bit busy but overall great experience … Will come back when in area but take into consideration of others waiting and don’t just have people you know skip… I will recommend to my family 🍽️ bonne nourriture friends 😋😋😋😋!

Pretty good, The rib tips are great and the pork chops but the bbq sauce is similar to open pit so I don't like that but overall it's good and meat is tender , falls off the bone.

What a fun place. It would take you all day to look at everything. But wow, they have some neat things here. The staff were all very friendly, the place was clean. The drinks were delicious. The food was good. Decent size portions. I ordered the ribs and chicken (quarter) and loved how they asked if I preferred dark or white meat. The BBQ sauce had a nice flavor. Different will stop back again.

This was my go to place for ribs near my home but it looks like I’ll have to find another. The flavor of the ribs were still good but the portion was smaller. I don’t know if I got a bad order or if they’re giving us less. The last time I ordered, they forgot to include my corn and I wasn’t going to drive back to get it.

Absolutely delicious 🤤 everything was good I had the cheeseburger which was season two perfection. My wife had that the baby back ribs and the chicken. The sauce was very good. The service was excellent. I can’t even remember how long it’s been since I’ve had good barbecue other than my home me and my wife will most definitely return. The place is very clean. The service was great. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was even better. their attitudes was so nice and courtesy. I recommend this place highly if you know good barbecue. this is a must for you to check out and the portions were huge and the cost was very reasonable. Will be back soon.

There is so much to love about this place! The food is exceptional, particularly the ribs, which are easily among the best I’ve ever tasted. Their homemade BBQ sauce is also a standout. The service is lively and engaging, making for a great dining experience. My only 'complaint' is the portion sizes—the meals are incredibly generous but didn’ feed as many people than advertised. But then again, we aren’t small people! The atmosphere is the perfect finishing touch: quaint, warm, and inviting.

First time visiting, short wait after checking in, normal waiting time for the time we arrived. Really liked the warm decor as you walk through the seating area. Didn't have to wait very long once you get seated. Ordered two chicken/rib combo, perfectly cooked, perfect amount of sauce. The young lady that waited on the table was spot on and came to the table on a regular basis. Will definitely return in the near future.

Good food, even better service. We went to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday after she saw an influencer rave about the place, and it deserved praise. The fried pickles are excellent. We got a few Pit Platters to try the brisket, chicken, and ribs. The brisket was my favorite; it was flavorful and a smooth eat. Great with the BBQ sauce provided. The rib meat fell right off the bone. Chicken was also good, as were the fries and the buffalo wings. An ok beer selection. Servers were friendly and helpful throughout. No wait for a table, as there was plenty of space. Ambiance was nice and warm with a retro vibe and lots of Jay Leno photos by the front door. We will be back.

I've seen this place for years and always wanted to try it. Tonight was the night. They advertise $12.99 half slabs om Monday. My son ordered the half slab, and the waitress asked what 2 sides he would like. He went with Corn on the cob and Cole slaw. I ordered the half slab as well with Cole slaw and fries. First the food. I was so disappointed in the ribs. Not only were they falling off the bone, they were almost mushy. But for $12.99, they were edible. Then the bill came. We were charged $19.99 for each half slab. I questioned the waitress, and she said that the special only includes the Texas toast and fries. I said so you're charging me $7 for 2 ounces of Cole slaw. She said she would go talk to the manager, who knows if she really did or not. Needless to say, I walked out of there very disappointed. Now I sit at home, mad at myself for not demanding to speak to the manager myself. My wife even showed her the menu from their website, and it didn't say anything about the special only including fries. Even if that's the case, why was I not just charged for a side of Cole slaw instead of $7? Needless to say, I won't be going back. So frustrated from this experience! The smell catches you when you get out of the car ... driving up the outside decor catches you eye. The selection is out standing a taste and flavor for everyone taste buds the amount they give you is well worth the money. The waitress was more than happy to answer any questions we had about the selection. The food came out quickly and Hot

We went to celebrate my moms Bday. It was good food reasonable prices. And friendly servers. I do recommend this place but need to go early if you want your food out fast! It gets packed REAL QUICK!

He became here on a Monday for the half slab Ryb special. Three of us ordered that the ribs were fall off the bone good sauce good crisp on the french fries Texas toast just the right amount of cook it. My wife had barbecue chicken sandwich. we ordered some mini tacos as an appetizer. Everything came out fast and our server was very attentive. I would come here again.

I can't recommend this place enough. I don't live near here, but I would make the few hours drive just to come back here again. The meat quality was phenomenal. The bbq sauce was out of this world, I'm so glad they sell it because I bought some for the next time I use my smoker. It was so good I had to eat some of the ribs before I could even take this photo! I hate when you get ribs and a good majority of them is fatty and basically inedible. These were not that. Every bit of the ribs were perfectly cooked meat and every single bone was clean when I was finished. Also, their baked beans were delicious, I wish I could have taken some home with me. The food came out so quickly and the staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is full of memorabilia and interesting items to look at, giving you a nice way to pass the time as you wait for your food. The prices are spot on for the portion sizes. You would be doing yourself a disservice passing this place up.

Absolutely love the pit! Been going here since I was a little girl and I will continue to go back. Staff is always nice and place is always clean. My favorite foods are the chicken wings, bbq chicken, Texas toast, and baked potato. I also really love their blue cheese dressing it is to die for!

My family and I went there for dinner and wasn't very happy with the quality of the food. Although the buffalo wings were flavorful, our main dishes wasn't good. The quarter chicken was extremely dry and the ribs tasted as if they were baked. Totally not what we expected. I will say the quality of service was excellent. The waitstaff and Manager were very attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was okay for a BBQ joint.

Food was SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. I COULD NOT STOPPP EATING, HELP! Also the server was so sweet and the fans were fan-tastic. The bathroom was possibly the best part I had to myself and there was lots of paintings. Lol

This place I've been going to since they opened in the 90's. Amazing food , great family owned business that cares about your experience. . Lots of the same people you see in here showing the taste of food and loyalty to the business.my wife raves about the Mediterranean salad and my go to is chopped bbq brisket yummy!

It's always a fun time coming here with consistently good bbq and always delicious baked potatoes. I love the outdoor patio and was so looking for ward to dining al fresco on probably the last warm night d the year but the patio was closed for the season! Please keep open until the weather turns. It's so cute out there.

Are at this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. We were able to eat outside as it was a beautiful day. The service was very good. The staff were pleasant, thorough and friendly. I had the 1/4 chicken with fries and corn. The chicken was good and the barbecue sauce was good. It's a thinner, less sweet sauce. The fries were done well and tasted good dipped in the bbq sauce. The corn was just okay. It's corn season but it tasted like it was previously frozen. I will try the baked beans or coleslaw next time as you get two sides. It also comes with a Texas toast which was tasty. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no up charge for white meat on the quarter chicken. I would come again if in the area.

Everything thing on the food menu is excellent; have never had a bad meal there. The service staff are friendly and very efficient. Great ambiance - noice level not overwhelming even when the place is packed.

I should have known better not to order the ribs when a lady from across the table was going to the bathroom she stopped at my table and asked me how are the ribs said I haven't tasted them yet why she said cuz I heard they're no good here anymore well now I believe her my son ordered a full slab of ribs for $28 I ordered the half chicken and half rib combo for $34 so we have a slab and a half of ribs that were so dry and overcooked I told the waitress and she came back to my table and said she told the chef but they did nothing about it I spent 120;50 and people don't ever go there for the ribs they are so dry and overcooked they're not worth the money the best thing I had there yesterday was the greek salad and a baked potato even their baked beans sucked too much tomato sauce in it I've been going to the pit for years I've lived in this neighborhood since 1974 and their food now sucks

I ordered one of the family meals. I believe it was somewhere around $37. You get 2 pounds of rib tips, garlic bread, fries and coleslaw. The rib tips were great, they had a lot of flavor and the sauce was good. The fries and coleslaw was also good. I would say my only complaint was majority of the garlic bread really needed some more butter, and like some more garlic it really didn't have any flavor. I took mine to go, but the inside of the restaurant is very nice. People working the front desk are very friendly. Next time I would like to try the brisket.

What a wonderful and eclectic place! I LOVED the decor! I literally drive past this place EVERYDAY and I FINALLY had the chance to come in and I'm so glad I did! Rose was an amazing server and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and that our meal was up to par. The ribs are truly delicious and the sauce was sweet just how I like it! The portions were so big and I have so much left over that I can eat for two days! Lol

The bbque chicken has no flavor other than the bbque sauce. It's very dry and bland. The baked potato is plain, no salt crust. The baked beans had too much vinegar. The rib tips were tough. The service was awful. We were the only table she had and she never checked on us. We had to flag her down or go to the cashier to find her. The place is nostalgic and the ribs are ok. I won't be returning here again. I'll look for another place to eat bbque. No wonder the place has only a handful of clients . The 1 star are for the decor and ribs BEWARE there's an extra charge if you use a CC. It's not posted

Amazing place to get some bbq. Definitely some of the best bbq sauce i've ever had top 3 without a doubt (my own recipe is #1 btw), and a cool looking restaurant. They got antique pictures all over the wall and the restaurant was very clean. I personally got a plate that came with bbq chicken, ribs, pulled pork, sweet corn, Texas toast, and a baked potato. All of it was super tasty especially with the accommodation of that bbq sauce. The ribs where fall of the bone and super tasty can't say anything more about it. Some of the best ribs i've ever had and if I come down by again 100% getting them again. The sides were pretty good and the chicken was on the dry side but it didn't really matter because the sauce was so good that it wasn't super important. The pulled pork was also really good. Definitely recommend trying it out.

I went to The Pit Rib recently when visiting my sisters. We all ordered the same thing a full rack of ribs with baked potato and slaw. The ribs were good but didn't have the same taste once reheated at home. My sister mentioned the ribs were only $21.99 for a full slab but the price is for take-out the manager later said that the bill came with no sides and another kicker was there is an extra charge for cheese and bacon bits. So it turns out it's $25.99 with two sides and an extra $2.00 for the cheese and bacon bits. The best part of our experience was our server Nora, she was always around for refills and to answer any questions. They give you a lot of extra butter and sour cream for your baked potato. They have good daily specials too.

Trying to find a restaurant in this area open til 10 on a Sunday night was a challenge. However we had a late 9p supper at the Pit. Some of my family love The Patio on Harlem near here. Personally I think it's ok but for sure their ribs aren't that good. So coming here, I wanted to try all their items but went with the Platter. We actually did 2 one had beef and the other was the pork (that was better!) We started with the fried pickles which were ok but eventually the main event came and overall here's what I thought: -The pork was good -The ribs were ok -The Texas toast was burnt -The fries were fine -The chicken was dry -The sauce stunk as it's waaaaay too watery. I would possibly come back as the staff was nice and the prices were fair. I'm giving this one less star due to the fact I saw two roaches on the way to the bathroom. Nasty. Plenty of parking is available in their lot and it's right off 95th and 294.

The food was tasty. I had a brisket sandwich. Sauce was good, but the meat did have some fat in it that I had to take out. Also the some of the beef was so crispy that I couldn't chew it. I then ordered a BBQ pork sandwich with a side of beans to bring home for someone. The side of beans was about the size of a ketchup container for fries, and the charge was $2.55. It was barely 2 spoonfuls. I complained to the older man at the register, and he shrugged. I said I would rate this online, and again, he shrugged. So I guess he doesn't care. So, I'm posting this now. DON'T get any extra sides, and expect any included sides to be ridiculously small. I'm including a photo of the tiny side, and another photo of a can of beans from jewel, that were $2.79 today. I think the photos make my point.

Had the ribs & chicken combo. Ribs were dry. Chicken was even more dry. Best part of the meal was the regular ol' baked potato and 2 pieces of toast. Server was awesome. She was very attentive. But the bad lunch wouldn't allow a rating higher than 1. :(

Second time eating here and second review. I ordered the rib tip dinner again. This time is was no better than the first plus this time I got less food. The tips again were hard to eat. They really weren't that smokey. There was too much sauce on them. They weren't meaty at all....mostly stringy. The sides I ordered were corn on cob and cole slaw. You get a half ear of corn which I'm sure is frozen. The cole slaw you get comes in one of those small containers that restaurants usually put extra sauce in. So we're talking about maybe two or three teaspoons of slaw. I do not consider this a real side. So that's it for the Pit Rib House for me. I will not be eating there again.

I have to tell you, we are so disappointed in the management at this restaurant. We had reserved their room for a 90th birthday party today. When we arrived the room that was supposed to be for us, had people being seated in there. It as so embarssing when our guests started to arrive. Then when the check came, we were obver charged for more people than we had. We had 30 adults, three 3 year olds and an infant. They charged us for 35 people, unfortunatelt with everyone leaving when the check came we did not not of the over chage right away. We were ove charged about $110. The acting manager said he will give us a $50 gift card. He said we had almost the amount we were charged for. When asking do you charge the same for a 3 year old as an adult, his reply was they are people. I will tell you I will never go here again, the professionalism of the manager was unbelievably disappointing. Bill S

This was good BBQ. The ambiance of the place is rustic, with wood walls and all sorts of things hanging around the rooms. Parking is on site in a large lot, so this place is easy to get to and easy to get in to. Located just north of 95th Street on Roberts Road in Hickory Hills. In some respects the place seems just like a sports bar, but there is nothing wrong with that ... the beer offerings were plentiful and the beer was cold. You can bring large groups here and have no trouble fitting in. The Q was routinely good here. Nice wood smoke flavor. We had puled pork sandwiches, a slab of ribs, and some tasty BBQ chicken - all of it routinely good. Prices were what one might expect in this day and age, but the food was good enough to warrant the price. I only wish their fries had a bit more crisp to them. They also do delivery and carryout, but the menus online list no prices so it is a bit awkward. When we were there, table service was very nice and attentive ... they had lots of employees and people working the tables. Anyway ... solid 3 star place that is worth trying out for good BBQ. PS - this is another place that charges you to use a credit card.

First time in since 2015. As expected, food is great, service is outstanding. Angela (the waitress) was very accommodating to my party's needs - we had an elderly man in a wheelchair.

I've been coming here for quite a few years and the food is usually pretty good. Not sure what's going on lately. Stoped I. Today for an early dinner and my wife and I both had the ribs which were very dry and tasted old, not freshly made, yesterday's maybe?

Full slab of Ribs were excellent! Had fries and slaw as sides. Both were good. Also had a Greek salad which was really good. Service was also great. We were seated with no waiting and server was efficient and friendly. Planning to return soon.

Nice atmosphere but thought the menu was confusing. I had the barbecue ends and they were fatty and a huge order. I had asked the waitress and was told the opposite.

The barbecue grilled chicken was ok. I will say their barbecue sauce is really good. They have bottles there you can buy and they have different flavors of their sauce too.

The best restaurant for bbq and everything else that they have on the menu. Staff is very friendly and do everything they can to make your dinning experience. Don't forget to buy the bottles of sauce for you own food at home. He'll buy the jug.

The last time I went here was pre COVID and then I would give them three stars. Today, it was worse. Though first I do apologize for the photos of my takeout being already eaten we were SUPER hungry to be eating this crappy food. A few complaints: I shouldn't have to tell someone how to do their job, it was dirty looking on the inside, and my order was incorrect. I don't understand why they have the baked potato on the menu and when I get home all I have is sour cream and butter, can I please have my potato?!? I honestly regret putting this food in my mouth because it looked like I got the leftovers from someone else's plate. Also straight up tastes like a dirty kitchen. I know this review writing was everywhere but, don't eat here.

Ordered rib tips. Horrible. Most were hard and difficult to chew. Service was slow and it wasn't even busy.

Way too expensive menu prices - $11 for a sandwich, $28 for ribs. Sodas are nearly $4! Service is terrible - not friendly and bothered all the time. Restaurant was empty with about 5 tables full and they place us in the back corner room away from all the windows or people. Upon asking for another table they put us in another corner with extra attitude. Would not recommend this place, lots of better food, prices, and service.

Sooooo I gave 4 stars only because the chicken wasn't seasoned and the Mac and cheese was not pleasing to me. Everything else was really good.

Please do go to The Pit Rib House it's a great place with a down home decor AND the food is great. Whatever you order you won't be disappointed. My favorite? The rib tips.

Been coming here for years, the chicken kabobs are unparalleled! The bbq sauce I buy by the bottle and it's the only sauce I use at home. Can't be beat. You'd be surprised by the sandwiches too, Rueben is top notch. Ribs are delicious too, as well as the bbq chicken. Nice outdoor seating and vibin interior

The best thing I can say is that I'm pretty sure it's real BBQ. I came in on a Friday at about 3:45pm. I was seated right away but no waitresses around for five minutes anywhere except one standing by the window doing nothing. I finally got up to go over to the cashier to ask for a waitress. I was hoping to get either a sampler platter or Rib Tips but neither on the menu? I'm guessing I had a lunch menu instead of a dinner menu? So I decided on a brisket sandwich but they only list chopped and not sliced which I would have preferred. They put a lot of BBQ sauce on it which is good because it is thicker than the watery stuff in the bottle on the table which doesn't cling to the beef or fried and just runs off like water; it's the thinnest sauce I ever saw! So the chopped brisket was OK. Since it was Friday they have half-price cocktails, so I ordered a Margarita which was good but doubt it had any more than half a shot of Tequila because I already had two shots at home a half-hour before at home before walking over, but still not even close to a buzz! So in summation, it was OK but would maybe go to Gemato's on 111th instead.

They are a classic! Love the decor inside! Have been coming here since I was a child. Their bbq sauce is top tier! Food is always fresh and still tastes the same as it did when I was young. So glad they are still around!

The decor was cute, but the service and food wasn't great. The meat (tri tip and chicken) was dry, everything came out cold, the brisket grilled cheese barely had cheese on it. We were never offered refills on our drinks and waited forever for the waitress to even come to the table (to take our order or bring the check).

Pulled pork was burned. Water dripping from ac vent over our table. Service was okay.
