They have a new Elote on the menu and it looks beautiful. I know it’s gonna taste as beautiful as it looks just as everything does from this place. I highly recommend it best Mediterranean place ever since I landed in Grand Rapids.

I was greeted by an elder gentleman. His warm voice and smile made me instantly warm in this 20s degrees weather. The menu was simple with wide selections. Food was surprisingly good because I didn't expect from a casual place. The portions was large and nicely presented. (I wished I took some pics to show). This place definitely deserves all the stars.

Great quality food. Always excellent. A nice selection of beverages to purchase in addition to self-serve soda machine. Love that they also have a nice variety of good quality Greek pantry items for sale. Owner was very friendly and answered my questions about some of the products. All around excellent.

I ordered online - food for 6 people + little ones. Our order was for pick up on the following day. The descriptions of the food are detailed and helpful. As soon as I placed the order I received a text - the text gave me a phone # to call should I have any questions etc. and an order #. When we picked up the food the person who was working assisted us with the food out to the car. The food was delicious! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Really good Mediterranean food in Grand Rapids. I swung for lunch while working at a building nearby. I had a swarna wrap and it was really good. The service was fine. Nothing special but good enough. The food did come fast which is nice. The place has a lot of good stuffs and other oddities for sale which is kinda cool but it's not very attractive or on theme. Also the "dining" and ordering area feel like they just moved in. If that's the case I can see this place being amazing with a remodel inside. I do recommend the food. It was really good. Give them a shot.

Food is always fresh and delicious. Best falafel in town in my opinion. If you are looking for delicious pita to buy, just ask at the ask at the counter, they sell it by the bag. They also have a small grocery area with imported foods.

I just stopped in for the first time and had an amazing experience. I got the Shawarma Platter for 2 people and it was just the right amount of food. They were super helpful with my order and even brought us plates when we decided to eat outside. Food was amazing. People were great. I will 100% be back!

Every time I order the tour of Lebanon plate I am never disappointed. Everything taste amazing and is so fresh.

Everything is amazing on 28th Street location Authentic and delicious Yummy!!!!!!!! I order the Kibbe my fav Mujaddara is really good The hummus is wonderful and so is the Fattoush Salad!!! For dessert try their homemade Baklava I LOVE THE FOOD HERE!!!!!!

I had pita house via delivery and it was absolutely delicious. Their garlic sauce is amazing and the bread the gyros come on is out of this world. You'll want to order three, though the portions are large so you only need one. It arrived hot and tasty. Do not pass on the French fries!! They are absolutely delicious. Maybe the best part of the meal!

Pita House Amazing? Fantastic flavors? Yes. If I need a pick me up at work for lunch and need a delicious yet nutritious meal? Pita House is one of the places I enjoy for my meals. Unfortunately, personally I have not gone in only asked via Uber eats. My family members who have gone there say that the service and ambience is really nice and friendly. As long as I am in Grand Rapids I for sure will order from here whenever it's possible :) Also they are halal :)

Pita house - Wealthy st. Chicken shawarma Pistachio cinnamon roll Pumpkin spice baklava THE SHAWARMA HITS HARDER THAN MY ANXIETY. Perfectly tender meat, fresh bread, great tasting sauces, and the pickled veggies put it over the top. The pistachio cinnamon roll was also excellent. More pistachio flavor than cinnamon. Frosting was seriously incredible, I hope they make this a regular item. I wasn't a huge fan of the pumpkin spice baklava. It was refrigerated and I'm pretty sure it wasn't baked that day if you catch my drift. Didn't have that iconic flakeyness of phyllo dough. Flavor was a mild pumpkin spice with a bit of nuttiness and butter. I'd try their regular baklava for sure (next time!!!). Definitely coming back here.

Thank you for the delicious food you catered for our wedding! My husband is a GR native who knew this would be a great option for guests that included vegetarians, so we knew it would be tasty, but wanted to say that you were so helpful in helping us figure out catering that worked with our budget. We really appreciate the kind and honest service after experiencing other places that try to upcharge everything for weddings. This is a lovely local business we recommend to everyone!

Placed a quick online order here for lunch today and it did not disappoint! Super easy to order, ease of access with street parking or their small parking lot, and the food is amazing. They were also super friendly. I ordered the Sami's Gyro ($14) and customized it with tzatziki, garlic sauce, feta, tomato, cucumber, parsley, and sumac seasoning. This might be the best gyro I've ever had, and it was huge!! Tons of gyro meat, great flavor, and they didn't skimp on the sauce either. Would definitely recommend for a quick lunch!

SUCH good food this place never disappoints!! Grew up going here the staff is amazing!! The place is so homey, clean and casual I take all my friends from out of town here. My fav items are the tabouli, falafel, and you HAVE to get the Greek fries and baklava.

We visited Pita House during a family trip, so the entire crew came along. Whereas this is usually a recipe for frustration, as there's at least one person who just can't find anything to satisfy on any given menu, we were not disappointed here! Even the fussy eaters found crispy, tasty meat, creamy and flavorful baba ganoush and hummus and salads. The cafe Arabia - sometimes known as Turkish, Greek, or Macedonian coffee - really hit the spot. I would not think twice about a return visit with a whole gaggle of hungry, fussy eaters.

Is this much oil really necessary? Food tasted good but next time I will ask for no oil. Easy does it guys.

It looked good from the outside. It was pricey which would have been fine if the quality measured up. The Lebanese salad was bland. The Cucumber sauce for the gyro platter was bland. We had a mix of chicken and also the beef/lamb gyro on the platter. It was cut in thick slabs, not crispy and not particularly tasty. Bottled hot sauce, not authentic. My whole wheat pita was crumbly, the flour pita was passable but not warmed. Quite disappointing. All the other reviews are positive so you may enjoy this spot but it didn't work for my husband and I.

Great meal. I had a platter with hummus, grape leaves, and falafel. The location is great and the east GR vibes are there. Service is helpful and I am always satisfied when I come.

Tony Stark would love this chicken Shawarma I had today from Pita House--and so will you. OMG the toppings made it: garlic sauce, shredded lettuce, pretty mild onions, large sliced pickles, pickled turnips (FOR THE WIN), and sumac! Don't miss a topping and get a fork because this thing is STUFFED and you don't want to leave anything behind. My friends had the Greek Fries (SO many fries, topped with feta, parsley, sumac and greek dressing--on the side, for dipping) and no one--literally these big grown men could not finish their fries. You could eat the Shawarma and the fries maybe two or three meals. . .this is the place for you to finally eat some shawarma and find out what the fuss has been about for what, ten, fifteen years now?

This is MY FAVORITE place to get gyros in GR! Great service, friendly staff, and a THE BEST FOOD! They've been expanding their selection of items available to take home in a cute market style display. The only thing I'd change would be the hours- I want to eat there every day.

The falafel was some of the best I have ever had! We also had the hummus, garlic sauce and chips, so good!! When I have ordered takeout in the store the staff is friendly and helpful. The dine in portion of the store is pleasant and clean.

The food was absolutely delicious! I brought a friend here that hasn't had any of this before and we both loved it. This is my first time coming here and I will definitely be coming back. The staff was very friendly and helpful! It only took about 10 minutes to get our food and they did an amazing job!

Flavors and portions never disappoint! Pita House is my favorite Mediterranean spot in GR. I prefer platters but the gyros are just as good. Other than the food on the menu, there are also many drinks and snacks to purchase. There's a shelf of spices, sauces, chocolates, and other goodies by the register! The only thing I don't feel great about the last few times I stopped by is the service. If I hadn't had Mediterranean food before, I would've felt lost and rushed as my order was being taken. The person taking orders seemed a bit impatient and wouldn't explain the different options when my friend tried ordering for the first time. Luckily I was able to help out. It's kind of like ordering Mediterranean style Chipotle except there are no labels or guidance, simply "what do you want." Nonetheless, still my go-to Mediterranean spot in GR. Street and paid parking available in the area!

Stopped in for lunch and had a great gyro. It's nice to be able to see and select your own toppings as they make it in front of you. They give you a generous portion of meat and it tasted delicious. I can eat a lot and it was tough finishing the gyro myself. The workers were all extremely friendly and quick. You can get a combo with fries and a fountain drink, but I wanted a vitamin water so the price added up pretty quickly getting the gyro, fries, and a vitamin water separately. Inside has plenty of tables and it wasn't too busy on a weekday around noon. Will definitely come back!

Stellar gyro! It was huge. The walnut baklava is my new favorite. We'll be eating here again.

This is a gem right in east town. The food was so fresh and delicious! I recommend the Chicken Shawarma platter and Sami's Gyro sandwich. The price is also very reasonable. I live so close to this place and honestly embarrassed I've never gone before. Will be returning often!

I used to go to this restaurant like four times a week. I was so addicted to it but then I moved away for five years and now I'm back and I cannot wait to go back to this place. I love their pita bread and I love all of their different options For what to put in it

Great pitas! Everything was fresh and tasty. Prepared exactly as I wanted. The free parking for customers was super helpful, as the street parking can be competitive.

The (hands down) very best gyros in town. Generously heaping portions, deliciously fresh toppings, and lovely owners who are friendly and kind. Go out of your way for this spot-- great food!

Went here twice with family. There's free parking. First time I had the chicken shawarma, it was delicious! Second time had the platter of chicken shawarma because I was extra hungry and it was very filling! Portions are pretty big so perfect to take home some leftovers. It's owned by a family and they were very nice, overall good experience and highly recommend anything that has chicken!

$11 for a tiny tiny Greek salad with no protein was outrageously expensive. Very disappointing experience. No bread. No crackers. You order at cash register. My order was to go. I wondered why the amount was so much more than price listed. I looked at my receipt and discovered the 18% tip charge. I will never go back.

Yummy in my tummy! My favorite late night spot, or any time of the day really. The Pita House turns a simple cheeseburger into a delicious meal and that's what I love about them. Everything tastes and is super fresh! They make the food with love. The employees are super nice and welcoming. If you're super hungry, don't worry, food comes out super quick! I've tried almost everything on the menu and every time I go I'm always confused as to what to get because everything is just sooooo good !

We were able to order the Pita House for delivery recently, and it was awesome! The gyros were perfectly prepared and authentic. The falafel was okay, not my favorite but still not bad. For dessert, we enjoyed the baklava which was perfectly portioned and the perfect cap to this meal. The real winner, however, were the AMAZING Greek fries!!! We are addicted!!! Before 2020, I never put more importance into the packaging of my food. But this year, since all we've been able to do is order takeout, it's become a whole new ballgame! The food from Pita House was packaged very well. I would've loved to see packaging that is a little more sustainable. Overall, everything was well preserved and intact when it was delivered to us.

Very good takeout experience with Pita House. Everything was packed up nicely and the entire order was complete. Baba ghanooj was a little chunkier/lumpier than I prefer, but the flavor was good. Greek fries and Tour of Greece platter satisfied my cravings, the included fattoush salad was particularly delicious with beautiful red, ripe tomatoes (sometimes a truly difficult thing to find in the middle of a MI winter). Chicken Shawarma wrap was a little smaller than expected, but tasty.

I love the Pita House. They have delicious, fresh food and friendly service. I'm never disappointed. I love their gyros, falafel, and Chicago cheese. I've been going to Pita House for at least 20 years now or more. Highly recommend!

Good food, friendly service, & willing to answer my curious questions. Everything had great flavor. The Turkish Coffee was a first for me and staff was helpful in telling me how to go about drinking it. Portions are large. Condiments looked fresh. Plenty of options to choose from.

Best shawarma I've had on the West Side of Michigan! Definitely recommend the chicken shawarma sandwich and a side of their fries.

This is still the best place for gyros and Middle Eastern fare on the South East side. They recently moved from their old place a couple of doors down and this is essentially the same business but in a new location. There is more seating in the new location and better parking options. The gyros are typically packed full of toppings and they certainly don't skimp on the meat. They also have the same great vegetarian options. I recently visited the new location and even with an indecisive, verbose and slow-moving older lady in line ahead of us, they were still able to keep the lunch-rush line moving at a reasonable pace. Great food at a fair price - this is typically my first choice for lunch when I'm working on this side of town.

I really love the food here and would give a 5 star review but I cannot because of the amount of styrofoam used in this restaurant. Even the water cups are styrofoam!!! EVERYTHING disposable is styrofoam aside from the paper wrappers used on the sandwiches. We didn't drink water with our lunch because we didn't want to use unnecessary styrofoam. Finally bought a few glass bottles of pelegrino to wash down our delicious sandwiches, but would have preferred to just have glasses of water. Even plastic would be better than styrofoam! (Pita House, FYI styrofoam is the absolute worst material you could use for your disposables. You are polluting the earth with every piece used in your establishment.) I got the junior falafel sandwich and the lentil soup. The food was GREAT! The soup was especially good.... EXCEPT not only was it served in styrofoam, it was actually heated by microwave IN the styrofoam. Had I known that before I ate it, I would not have eaten it. Quoted from gadgetreview.com, and consistent with other research on the topic: "The problem is that styrofoam doesn't react very well to heat. High heat causes the material to break and melt, which in turn leeches styrene and benzene into foods. The last thing you want to do is put styrofoam in the microwave." Here you have this amazing food that is prepared with love and care, and then you are making it toxic by microwaving it in styrofoam. Pita House, you really deserve a 5 star review for your food. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop polluting the earth with styrofoam, and please stop ruining your lovely soup by microwaving it in the terribly harmful material. Please let me know when you change your ways and I will be happy to change my review to a 5 star.

I might get lynched for giving Sami's Gyros only three stars, but I honestly find them to be pretty average. I've been here twice since it's re-opening, and yes, it's a little nicer and more spacious than the previous location (definitely much better than the gross Asian restaurant that formerly occupied the space), but there's not much (if any) change in the menu or improvement in the quality of their pita wraps. I don't want to throw out the Ann Arbor card here again, but just as with Asian and Indian food, that town has definitely got GR beat by a long shot with its Middle Eastern food game, (pita/schwarma/falafel joints are literally on every main street there), and I've eaten at all the ones over there and in this city and I've traveled a little in Europe, where they vigorously eat Middle Eastern pita sandwiches about as much as Americans eat tacos. Falafel pita (especially w/ babaganooj) is my "expertise" (lol jk, but in all seriousness, it's my go-to fast food). And I will say this place does a decent falafel pita, but at the same time, The Pita House is highly overrated. I think that there's this certain subset of GR people that love to talk it up like it's god's gift to mankind, when in reality, they probably just haven't eaten at a lot of other pita places. Being one the first pita businesses in GR, Sami's/The Pita House has a good amount of name recognition and a loyal following around these parts, but you'd be daft not to try out all the other pita places in town. So with that said, their falafel balls are sufficiently moist, flavorful and green on the inside (most importantly), and the other ingredients are always very fresh and delicious. I'm mostly just not a big fan of the pita bread they use. It's very rough, dry, and quite difficult to chew. (maybe it would help a little if they warmed it up first?) Not to mention, the first time I went there since the re-opening, my pita was very poorly folded and came undone thanks to the very unfriendly/careless employee working that evening. I basically just had a falafel salad mess. I like pitas they use Gita Pita and Chicago Style Gyro far better. Sami's/Pita House is pretty middle-of-the road for me. It definitely does the trick at a very reasonable price, but I've also had better. I'm definitely going to try out some of their vegetarian platters instead next time, so this review is definitely subject to some updates...

Favorite gyro spot in town! Sandwiches are large and full of fresh ingredients. Highly recommend ordering the Greek fries to split. Online ordering is fast and easy.

The food here was delicious. I went with a big group for lunch and everyone enjoyed their food. You order at the counter, and then can sit or just get carryout. There was plenty of seating, and the place was super busy, but most people were getting food to go - massive line, though. I got the black and white gyro and I would highly recommend it. Also, it was such a big portion, there is no need to get anything to go with it! Decent service, nothing crazy.

I've been here a couple times, the first time was a couple years ago, and it was pretty unremarkable. This time though, it was certainly memorable, but not in a way you want. I walked in, it's kind of an unusual setup, it's sort of a small convenience store with seating and a kitchen in the back. I decided to give the place a second try, I stepped up and saw that Italian beef was an option, I've driven to Chicago for an Italian beef countless times, so I had to give it a try. Unfortunately, what you find is nothing like what you'll find in Chicago. After I ordered I watched the guy behind the counter pull out a sheet of deli paper, put roast beef, "Chicago cheese" it appeared to be like a bland feta, and seasoning on it then put it in a microwave right in front of me. After it was done "cooking" he asked if I wanted white or wheat, I went with white because uhm, that's your only choice in Chicago. To my surprise he pulls out not a sub bun, but a pita, and throws the microwaved contents into it with some type of sauce. I went along my way, hoping that it'll be better than it looks, when I got home I cut it in half, myself and a friend each took a bite and threw it in the trash. A few things: Italian beef is not roast beef with seasoning on top. Italian beef is served in a bun, not a pita Italian beef by default doesn't have cheese, but if it does its generally provolone, cheddar, or mozzarella Italian beef is a juicy flavorful sandwich dripping in au jus. Italian beef doesn't have a sauce This Italian beef is none of these things.

I can't believe this place does not have a five star rating from the community. I've been coming here for about six years now, and the food continues to impress me every time I walk in the door. The Sami's Gyro is to die for, along with a side of Greek fries and some baklava for desert. Everyone who works here is respectful and kind, even at 3 in the morning. The food is packed full of flavor, definitely get the cucumber sauce, and tziki on your gyro. There are lots of different options for their gyros beyond the typical meat selection.v This restaurant also doubles as a Mediterranean grocery store, which contains many more products than are available in the international aisle at Meijer. Definitely check this place out for a late night snack or a nice lunch!

Visited here on a whim...was trying to find a place in Eastown that had a 'kids menu'. We ordered Sami's Gyro (beef & lamb), Chicken Gyro, and the {kids} Chicken Tenders (fries & drink included). There's a plethora of drink options and fountain drinks. They're definitely generous with the meat and you have the option of customizing your Gyro with a variety of fresh veggies: green peppers, banana peppers, jalapeño peppers, cucumber, turnips, black olives, feta cheese, chickpeas, parsley, or pickles. I highly recommend this location if you're in the area, a great healthier-fix for lunch or dinner!

Great place to go if you love pita bread filled with meat and a lot of extra condiments. It's a good price for some much food and you will leave satisfied and full after your Italian Beef pita or their famous Sami's Pita along with well made jalapeño poppers and Greek fries combo. Stop in for lunch or dinner for a quick bite and casual decor experience. Also the staff is very kind and work hard to make your Pita House experience worth having again and again. Would highly recommend for a cool and simple lunch idea or if you're hungry and don't want to pay a lot. Last thing, take advantage of the napkin dispenser at each table you'll need them.

The best felafel in Grand Rapids when I lived there 15 years ago, and I was just there today, and it was just as good as I remembered. Everything is fresh and delicious; we had the veggie platter with hummus and baba ganoush and the black and white gyro, and everything was perfect. I loved the dolmas and tabouli as well

Great place with free parking. I always get the Sami with lamb. I love their grape leaves just like my grandma use to make. Highly recommend.

This is a review for the service. Shout out to the crew working around 10pm on 8/10/18. Sami's food is always super consistently good but, the service I had was outstanding. Carry on.

The decor is nothing fancy, but It doesn't need to be because the food speaks for itself. Good for a quick stop to pick up lunch or dinner on the go. Sami's is also open until 2AM Monday through Saturday making it a great late night food alternative to Yesterdog (also delish!).

Great food, and very generous portions. I eat here regularly, and always do their black and white gyro (lamb and chicken) on a wheat pita. They are set up like a sub shop, where you walk up to the window, tell them what you want, then what toppings you want on it. They make it right there in front of you. They've got an assortment of fresh toppings (pickled turnip, green and banana peppers, parsley, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalipeno peppers, black olives, feta cheese, chick peas, etc). On my last visit, I took someone's advise and got half cucumber sauce and half hummus instead of all hummus, and enjoyed it. Give it a try! They'll pack the gyro full of veggies to the point where they need to re-pack the ones that fall out the side as they are rolling it up. Have them cut it in half before they bag it, because you'll be able to save the other half for later (though it doesn't warm up well). They've even upgraded the napkins they use. Before, they had the thinnest napkins around, that would shred after the third use, which wasn't good because the gyros can be messy. Now, though, they've got normal napkins, that will clean up thge mess you are bound to make. This is not a fast-food place, but a place to get real food, fast. I love Sami's Pita House.

Yes, their falafel is off the hook! And their greek fries...loaded with feta and greek dressing....are slap your momma good. I haven't really tried much else at this place but the spinich pie...which is very tastey was well. Totally recomend it but come hungry. The portions are generous. :)
