Great staff! Yummy food! I built my own 10 inch pizza (white sauce, pepperoni, jalapeño, spinach) and was very satisfied.

Our visit to this place was so disappointing, I felt the need to warn others. This place is advertised as having stone fire oven pizza, but don’t be fooled—it’s nothing like what they claim. We were excited to try the pizza, especially after seeing it featured on their website and social media. When we asked for a simple Margherita pizza, the waitress told us they didn’t have it and that the oven was "off." Okay, fair enough, we then tried to pick another pizza, but she responded with, “I believe it’s not available.” At this point, we just gave up and ordered something we didn’t even want, out of sheer frustration. When the pizza finally arrived, it was an absolute disaster. It didn’t taste like pizza at all! The dough was raw and undercooked, with a tiny amount of shredded cheese slapped on top. It was basically an inedible mess, and honestly, I’ve never had a worse pizza in my life. The waiting time was also ridiculous—we waited far too long for something that wasn’t even worth the wait. This place is more of a bar than a restaurant, and if you’re looking for good food, especially pizza, avoid it. We certainly won’t be coming back. Total waste of time and money. ***In addition to our terrible experience, we received an unprofessional and rude response from the business, accusing us of being paid to write a review. Our review is genuinely intended to help hardworking individuals avoid falling victim to scammers who misrepresent themselves and make false promises on their website, behavior that is illegal under numerous laws***

Look pizza is their thing, you absolutely have to get a pizza here! It's so delicious. Worth splitting several with friends or family or ordering personal size for yourself.

We planned to come here for a birthday celebration As we walked in we weren’t greeted the server had an attitude. Wasn’t inviting at all. She wanted to seat us at a table that didn’t have enough space since I had my baby in a stroller. We asked to sit at a different table and had a face of annoyance and wasn’t very happy we asked to switch. This was our first time going to this business. We didn’t know we couldn’t sit where we wanted the other server said they seated people by sections which clearly was a lie because the other sections weren’t full. We then asked for a drink menu and my father in law has issues with vision asked if he could get up and go to the bar to see the menu and that was another way I guess we annoyed the server and the bartender. My sister in law showed up and asked if the fan could be turned down because it was pretty high and it was cold. They said they couldn’t turn it off which she didn’t ask for it to be turned off. But she did lower the speed. Once we placed our order and we were waiting for our food I could clearly see the servers talking about the encounters they had with us. They kept looking towards us making gestures and mocking the way we had asked for different stuff. They were laughing. Giving ugly facial gestures, and I was able to see them talking about us and just making fun of the situation. It was just an awful awful experience. As our first time there I can honestly say I won’t be going back. I know one costumer won’t hurt the business but it just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Specially once the whole crew knew what was going on and they all went along and kept talking about us. And I am sure they don’t care about this because they have never really been disciplined for their behavior because these are signs that they probably do this constantly. Name of server on receipt (Ashley)

They were friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Very welcoming toward our dogs. Wish we'd gone at a time with a little less sun or more shade but we'll definitely go back. I'm still dreaming about that Thai Pie!

Google
Took my family there for lunch. The pizza was really good...the wings were amazing, especially with the Thai sauce! Great environment. If you have kids, they have a little area in front where they can run around. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
It's good. Venue is cool, staff are fine. It's got an unusually trendy aesthetic for Visalia and considering it's well outside of downtown center. Only complaint, one time they gave me incorrect info on sauce prices. One type of sauce they told me was extra but it turned out they charged me for each and every sauce even though one was supposed to be free. They probably just misspoke but in terms of value, I don't think it's viable to pay $3 for a small portion of something you can get at the grocery store for $5-$6 in the full size. When did sauce become 10-15% of the price of a pizza? That's the kind of thing that makes people feel nickle and dimed, not want to tip, definitely not want to order extra sauces. It'd be better marketing to increase your pizza price by $3 and say it comes with one sauce included, $1 extra per sauce after that max 3 or something, Idk but owner should get it right. Obviously won't make or break the biz but it's part of the revenue model otherwise these places wouldn't do it.

Yelp
Updated review (3rd time): This place is frustrating. It doesn't seem family friendly anymore. The outside fake grass area is completely closed off, and vibes are off. Last time we went, there were signs saying to "watch your kids." Don't get me wrong... I understand the reasoning behind it, but it still makes it feel like kids aren't welcome...or that they're a problem. The main reason this review is lower, is because we often have plans of going to Planing for dinner or ordering it for pick-up and then we show up and the place says it'll close early due to cleaning, or due to a large party even though the hours show that it should be open. Last weekend we planned on ordering it for takeout for our kids last basketball games; went to grubhub, doordash, toast app, and even called and no one answered. All platforms said the location was closed at the time we were trying to order 11:30-12:30, even though the hours say they open at 11. I messaged them on Instagram and they responded pretty soon after and said they were open (???). Pizza is good, but something needs to happen with their cleaning schedule, or they need to change their open times to different times. It is frustrating making plans to go to a delicious pizza place and worrying about it even being open when they say they will be.

Yelp
One of our local favorite pizza spots! service depends on a busy or slow day (but hey, it's a PIZZA spot)! Depending on your mood, there's outside with some games & heaters & inside with a Bar :) The Thai wings are a MUST try!

Yelp
How is this my first time here being a native Visalian. First off I love how this place looks showcasing an old salvaged vintage 'Visalia' & 'Ice' sign. This place is open, casual, and inviting with honestly some great (the bomb) homemade artesian pizza. Love all the vintage posters showcasing all of California's state parks. The Food: I tried something different and ordered their Vegan options. I got the Garlic Knots w/ marinara sauce for dipping & the Primavera Pizza w/ Gluten-Free crust. Keep in mind that crust only comes with medium sized pizzas. The Garlic knots are fresh baked dough with garlic-infused butter. They were tasty & I tried not to eat too much to save room for the pizza. My pizza was fantastic. Full of fresh vegetables such as artichoke hearts, Roma tomatoes, black olives, green bell peppers, mushrooms all on a pesto sauce. That pesto sauce was killer. I also had a Lemonade to drink. Service: excellent! I'd like to thank my server Erin for being so quick with the Lemonade replacement. Apparently when I got up to wash my hands the overzealous staff swiped my lemonade thinking I had left. Trust me this is not the first time this has happened to me when dining solo, but the thing is I didn't notice as I was pulling back my seat. My server briskly came on my right hand side and said, 'Sorry about that, he thought you left.' No worries as I got a refreshing fill up of my Lemonade. My server was on her game. I didn't have to search or go ask another staff for assistance. She was handling her tables like a boss. Yah, girl I see you working hard for that money. I had a great experience. It's time to make a Reel to share with all my Insta peeps. This would be a great place for a Yelp Event

Yelp
Pizza & Beer is a brilliant combination we have all enjoyed for years. Planning Mill Pizza is truly one of the best in town. We chose this venue to host a family celebration. They have two party rooms to pick from, one larger than the other. I was disappointed with the responsiveness of the representative in charge of securing the room. It did cause unwanted stress when trying to ensure everything was in order and ready to go. The day of the event arrived, there was no one to greet us or show us to the party room. This was not a good sign, we had to hunt down help before we were finally shown our room. Unfortunately, the room was not set up and we were left to set up all of the chairs as they were just stacked in the corner. There was limited time before guests were scheduled to arrive. We had to hustle to make sure everything was set up. This could have been avoided if they had set up the room before we arrived. All in all, the food was great and made up for the lack of hospitality. I would have given it an additional star but my overall experience lacked. Especially when we paid a pretty big penny to have our event hosted at this venue.

Yelp
Pizza is way overpriced, service took forever and was not good. If there is a Me n Ed's in your area save your time and go there.

Yelp
We love The Planning Mill! We must admit we have not eaten here since before COVID, and used to patronize their old location very often. What a crime this was! Wow this place is just as delicious if not more than we remember. The food is a classic pizzeria but with their own spin on classics and a few catchy titles to needed classics! This is a must enjoy place if you are craving quality pizza, excellent local beer options, friendly staff, and enjoy one of the many historic buildings in downtown Visalia! We love how they remade this historic business into the 21st century but being aware of their the rich industrial history of the area! We highly recommend trying their Detroit style pizza! Wow! Delicious! Our son loved the injection style donuts; allowing a customer to customize their own dessert absolutely genius in our mind! Thank you for making our family outing a memorable one!

Yelp
Great spot for pizza and wings. They get quite busy during lunch and dinner, sometimes seeing wait times over an hour. Thankfully they were empty at opening and service was stellar and fast. They had a standard beer menu along with monthly specials. As a sour aficionado, I was content with their selection and taste. =ORDERED= *Caesar Salad: came in two sizes and we got the large. I was disappointed in the portion given it was $15.49. Between 3 people, we barely had a few pieces of romaine each. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh but I wished the salad was tossed prior. The dressing came in 2 sample cups and could have been more generous. *Thai Traditional Wings: the glaze was a perfect balance between sweet and spicy. The wings were slightly crispy and the meat was juicy. Although there were peanuts on top, the sauce wasn't nutty and it resembled a milder mango habanero. Would come back just for the wings. *Big Lewbowski: a Detroit style pie that came with either 4 or 8 slices. Our party only managed to take down 1 square each so the small was perfect. The red sauce was flavorful and the pepperoni and salami were salty and crispy. I couldn't taste the sausage or bacon as much and the basil and ricotta were on the mild side. The crust was the best part as it was crunchy yet pillowy in the center. The Planing Mill offers a mean pie and awesome wings. The prices were higher than other pizzerias but the quality was top tier. I would avoid their salads and stick to the mains.

Yelp
Pretty cool spot located in downtown Visalia area. Walk in and seat basically wherever you like. Good for small groups or big tables. Order at the bar or wait until a server comes over ; put in your order and wala.... They bring out ur food when it's done. Plentiful mozzarella sticks... nice and crispy and hot . Love that it's plenty to share. Pizza selections are great .... No skimpy toppings here... just a whole lot of topping love. Your mouth gets to compete with a variety of flavors from the toppings and some delicious crust. We ordered the Kitchen Sink... must order if you like meat and veggies. TV's on to watch sports games; friendly family restaurant. Good selection of beer choices for the adults of course !

Publius S.

Yelp
First time there. Busy Friday night. Nice vibe. Cool building. I did a 10" build-your-own pizza. All their pizza choices other than a Margarita pizza have pork. Even the chicken pizza has bacon. Come on! If I go again, I'm limited to one meat option, which is chicken. The pricing seems about right. I like the various size choices. They have lots of beer choices. Mostly IPA and lighter stuff. No stouts. No wine. Pizza was good. Kind of a mid-thickness crust. Not crispy, but not like a pillow either. Just right for middle of the road. All in all, good flavor. My only complaint, which applies to all restaurants that show the tip options to make it easy. This place puts the highest on top. They start at over 20% (I think 22%) and work their way down to 18%. Then you can put what you want. That annoys me. Other than that, I will go again with the understanding that my pizza options are limited. Of course, they have other food too.

Yelp
I love the amibiance of this establishment. I was there for a teaching community event and had a great time! The service was great and the drinks are delicious! Needless to say, I ordered a Thai Pie to go which was yummy and in my tummy! I will be definitelu be heading back!

Yelp
This place was amazing, our server was great the food came quickly and was so good the 3little pigs pizza was like something I've never seen before and it was so good, the inside was clean and very enjoyable to be in.

Yelp
We revisited this place last week and had a great time, meal, and overall experience. Pizza was great. The atmosphere was really charming - like Visalia itself. Service very solid as well. Will go back and take friends/family.

Yelp
Suberb layout and ambience. Spacious seating options and a bar. The service is mostly self-order on your cellphone via a scannable QR code but waiters Are available to answer questions. This pizza was top-tier in every category!

Marisela E.

Yelp
The pizza is okay not bad. Our waitress didn't seem to know a lot of the menu when we asked questions.

Emilio C.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Why do you have a sign asking to please wait to be seated, with no one to help the people waiting? Terrible prioritization, and for the prices they're charging incredible to have such poor service. I couldn't even wait to be seated any longer, as paying $30 for a pizza is a rip off for the quality of service. Hire more people and stop ripping off your customers to understaff your restaurant during peak hours and days.

Max L.

Yelp
We came in for dinner last Friday. It was my family and my friends family. We were sat around 7:45. Around 8:30-8:35 my friend and I wanted to split a 12 ounce can of beer so we had walked up to the bar since our server was busy with another table at the moment . When asked for two glasses The bartender rolled his eyes at us told us it was last call and refused to give us glassware, and acted like he didn't want us there. Meanwhile, he kept serving other people at the bar without an issue. His attitude was rude and unprofessional. He told us if we wanted to keep drinking, we'd have to take it outside. We felt completely unwelcome. The only saving grace was our server Ashley, who was great -- polite, helpful, and the exact opposite of the bartender whose name we later found out was Francisco. We let our server know what had happened and she was very apologetic and she gave us the glasses with no hesitation. We decided we did not want to dine there anymore so we finished our drinks pack our food up and closed out with our server. Honestly the whole experience put a bad taste in our mouths so we will not be coming back again.

Yelp
Oh, planning mill. Definitely in my top 3 best pizzas around. Okay I'll say it, take in my TOP 2! Their pizzas don't ever disappoint. Everything is delicious. I'm obsessed with their Thai wings! (ask for extra Serrano, worth it). Just tried their Mac and cheese balls and OMGoodness I don't know how I've gone so long without trying them. We tried the deep dish last time and it was very good but I think I prefer their original pies the best. Service is always on point, staff knows their beer selection and the food is always quick. Atmosphere is also on point. Good job Planning Mill.

Yelp
Came here with my brother and family after a golf tournament and we were starving. I asked him to take me to the best pizza in town he knows. When we arrived I was doubtful. The place was a mess. Of the maybe 15 tables in the place, 10 hadn't been bussed (cleared off) and were stacked with dirty plates and pans. It was apparent that they were understaffed so it seemed understandable. Anyways, we were seated pretty quickly and the waitress was friendly enough. Nothing really stood out until we got our food. Holy hell!! I got the Kitchen Sink and my brother got a Pepperoni. They were AMAZING!! The pieces were so filling I only had 2. Took the rest home and enjoyed it for the next 2 days! So.. The place looked cool, but was messy. Didn't go to the bar but they had a great selection of beers and drinks. Staff was friendly and prompt. Food.... Amazing. Will definitely go back but might get my amazing food to go.

Yelp
Loved it we had artichoke appetizers and split the oriental chicken salad . I will go again and try their pizza . Waitress was nice the restrooms were clean all in all a very nice restaurant.

Yelp
This is my go to place for pizza when I'm visiting Visalia! It's right next to elite team jiujitsu- so while my husband works out, I eat pizza. (Don't worry, I save him a slice from the circle of crust.) I love how fresh and delicious this pizza is! The photo doesn't do justice of how perfect the crust is with the warm, gooey cheese. They also have a bar so if your looking for pizza and beer- don't miss this place! They offer weekly specials- for example, Tues $2 tacos. But I got here during the last hour and they just ran out. It's a busy restaurant so there might be a wait, service is a little slower- but know it's worth getting fresh made to order food! Parking is a little tougher, need to find street parking, but again- worth it! Come by and try it yourself.

Yelp
Best pizza and wings! Service has been amazing fast and friendly also good. Very clean place to eat i have ate here many time.

Yelp
I hate to leave a one star review but we showed up on Sunday at 6:15. They don't close till seven. The guy at the front pretty much turned us away telling us that we would be waiting for 15 minutes and that the bar closes at 6:30 so we probably don't wanna wait pretty much made us feel unwanted unwelcome. I do not like that. Somebody needs to tell that guy that you don't turn people away Until it's closed.

Selwyn M.

Yelp
Great pizza, nice people, lots of room for a big family lunch (12 people). Really good and even have craft beer on tap.

Paul C.

Yelp
Beers at the bar are great. Restaurant is cool to watch a game or hang out with friends for a drink. Pizza is solid. Wings are really good. Salad was good also. Deep dish pizza from here takes it to the best level. And if your brave try the fried macaroni balls. They are so good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Pizza cooks fast.

Yelp
Service was a bit sketch but the pizza made up for it. Oh and good beer selection too

Yelp
This is one of my top 3 pizza places. Really good pizza and environment. Service is good as well.

Yelp
It's a must stop if you're in Visalia The service was great. The pizza was outstanding very impressed with the staff and the business Really good selection on beer and food kid friendly We stopped there after we went to fuqua national Park

Yelp
Food is consistently prepared-- I appreciate the new way of being seated vs self serve. I'm not a beer connoisseur however my significant other is a member of their Cask & Key club. He enjoys the rotation of local craft beers on draft. Can get loud and will be busy depending upon the day of the week.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing! The service was impeccable! The selections they had and the cost was very reasonable! Wanna give a shout out to our servers Amber Watson and Francisco. You guys did an amazing job with caring for such a large party. All our orders were correct and I appreciate your attentiveness to our needs. Thank you again.

Yelp
Arrived on a Saturday night around 7pm. It was quite busy, but our group of 5 was seated after about a 25 min wait. There's a bar at the front so we opted to get a beer to combat the wait. There are QR codes at the table to scan and order directly from your table, which made the process easier. My group and I opted for: 12 wings (sriracha and honey/mango habanero) - the wings were perfectly cooked slathered in a lot of sauce. I personally preferred the mango habanero flavor although the 2 flavors had both contrasts of sweet and spicy. The sriracha and honey wings definitely had more of a Buffalo/sriracha flavor topped with jalapeños. Garlic knots - these were good and came with marinara sauce, however, after cooking, the bread wasn't as soft as it was when it was hot. Thai Pie - we ordered a large of this pie. Thank goodness we did! The medium wouldn't have been enough. This pizza came with chicken, lots of peppers and herbs that almost made the pizza taste like pho. Truly delicious! Funky chicken - ordered this without bacon bits because the majority of the group including myself doesn't prefer it. This one needed more pizazz. Overall the food was good, but service was hard to track down every so often because it was busy. Really nice spot in town and a good vibe!

Katelyn G.

Yelp
Horrible service. Would be better off ordering at the front and getting own drinks...as soon as waiter drops off food, no refills of drinks... better not need anything. Front staff also very rude, no customer service. Pizza is good, but not worth the horrible service.

Ann B.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing and the service was even better!! Kobe made sure we had everything we needed and more! The pizza was gigantic and full of toppings. Plenty of seating and the lighting was great!!

Yelp
6/10/2024 Went for a couple of beers and a pizza the pizza is always really delicious and we always get the Yeti or the Kitchen sink. I like the food here so we gave it a second chance the beer selection is very nice here they have quite the selection of Pilsner, Ale's, stouts and porter service has gotten better with the new employees and some old employees. people/atmosphere at the bar are really nice and friendly the decor is welcoming and usually always clean.

Yelp
Love the vibes and music in this place! Came right when they opened at 11AM. My husband loves their pizza while I enjoy the starters such as the buffalo wings and the mad macs. The servers are kind and attentive as well. Overall a good family place for lunch.

Gabe G.

Yelp
Good not great. Food was a solid 6.4. Good quality but won't be your favorite. Service was a disappointment, 2.1 being generous. Been here half dozen times or so, i have to give them credit for their consistency, ok food served poorly, and drink service away from the bar is terrible.
google avatar

Shelley k.

Yelp
They have a very nice beer selection here. My husband ordered and the Cubano, Reuben sandwich, and I ordered pork sandwich. The portions were very generous. The fries were pretty dry, but the onion strings were amazing.!! They have a nice patio with misters and are dog friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
We loved The Planning Mill's pizzas. They were exceptionally crafted and definitely hit the spot. The restaurant itself is a huge warehouse looking establishment with lots of seating and plenty of space. If you come here, you have to have one of their specialty pizzas; they are very interesting. The most unique pizza we had here was the Three Little Pigs and it's one of the best pizza's I've ever had. The combination of BBQ sauce, pulled pork, Canadian bacon, and onion straws is simply incredible. The only downside is that the pizzas are pretty pricey, but worth every single penny.
google avatar

Yelp
Good pizza ... nice and fast service for a group of 2. My daughter and I loved it. Nice layout very open and self serve fountain drinks is always clutch

Yelp
Ok, the Brussel Sprouts pizza is the way to go!!! One of the best pizzas I have had, hands down. It is spicy, sweet, and the crispy texture of the sprouts seals the deal. I would personally skip on the chicken wings, I did not like the texture. We tried to order the mac and cheese balls on two occasions, but they were sold out. We indulged with mozzarella sticks instead. I really liked the marinara sauce on the side. This is a solid option if the mac and cheese balls are sold out. Service is a bit off here. I understand due to COVID businesses are using app-based ordering. But it did not feel inviting or warm here. You seat yourself upon arrival and no one comes over to even offer you water. If you look confused a waiter will come over and point to the QR code on the table for the menu, but otherwise you are SOOL in getting your needs met. Either way, I really enjoy supporting small businesses. They really know what they are doing with their pizzas here. The space is also large enough to host large groups and private events. They have trivia on Wednesday nights at 5:30 pm and a few running specials on Tuesday/Thursday. Pretty solid draft beer selection as well. Happy hour seems to run from 4-6 pm M-F and all day on Sunday.

Yelp
Stopped by this little gem on our way back to LA. To start off costumer service experience was great, Miya our server was really kind and she made great recommendations not just on the menu but of activities in the area. LOVED the pizza, I'm texture person so the entire crust of the pizza had the PERFECT crisp to it. The wings were cooked and flavored well. We will for sure be stoping by again on our next trip!

Yelp
This is our go-to place to take the kids when we are in Visalia. The pizza is good, the service is friendly, plus it is noisy enough that no one seems to care about our crazy kids :) We have younger kids, so we ordered a small pizza, medium pizza, onion rings, and garlic knots to share. The garlic knot were just okay, but everything else was very good. Probably should have doubled up on the onion ring order and passed on the knots. Next time. Large variety on the beer menu too.

Yelp
We came here for lunch today and it was great. It has a cool venue and is very open. We ordered the margarita pizza, pesto primavera pizza, and the chipotle chicken sandwich. The pizzas were fantastic and I love their crust. It is light but chewy. The sandwich was pretty good and was a little spicy. But the sandwich needs a little ranch or blue cheese to cut the spicy chipotle cream. Overall, this place is great and I will be back to grab a pizza and a beer. They have a great beer menu.

Yelp
This is a good spot for pizza and beer, with some caveats. The pizza is never quite cooked enough in my opinion, although I admit this could just be a preference, and when I ask them to leave the pizza in a little longer to get a little more crispy I think it's way better. They are also WAY to stingy with their ranch. If you want more than like 2 for a large pizza you have to pay extra which is insane especially considering how watered down it is AND how much you're already paying for the pizza - it's not cheap. The beer selection is great though as well as the variety of pizza available. The outdoor patio is nice when the weather permits and there is plenty of seating for large parties.

Yelp
Service was excellent. While you do order on your own from your phone, the servers were attentive and quick. We ordered the fried Mac and cheese balls. The aioli it came with was delicious and spicy, but the balls themselves had not enough seasoning.. and lacking that distinct cheese flavor. Luckily they were freshly fried, but needs to be seasoned better. The Detroit style pie was sadly not my favorite. There are a lot of toppings, as you can see in the photo... but it needs more red sauce. The dough is so thick and not balanced. I had to order additional red sauce for extra money in order to really eat this. Unfortunately.. don't recommend their Detroit style pie. Not pictured was their sangria. It was white wine based and delicious and fruity!! Their Thai pie, however, was delicious. Imagine what a Thai style pizza would taste like... and it hit the spot. There are peanuts, and has a nice kick in flavor. Dough and crust is thick. I wish I had some ranch, but they charged for that as well. Their t shirt design is why I left this review with 4 stars, even though I did not really enjoy the food. Check out their r shirts they sell near the register in the back. If you are visiting from out of town, they have a pizza slice shirt with sequoia trees. Pretty cool souvenir!
