The Quoin Is a Sign That Wilmington Has Arrived

"Known as Delaware’s Broadway Experience and host to nationally touring productions, this venue sits an easy ten-minute stroll from the hotel for a night of big-stage entertainment." - Mitchell Friedman

We were so excited to come here and see Patton Oswalt last night. The space was beautiful, very ornate and well cared for. My husband purchased tickets in advance, got us seats with a good view. We had never been and the staff got us the the right section but direct us to the wrong seats, not once but twice. It was a bit of a hastle. Finally we found our seats on our own, right before the event started. It all worked out but having arrived 30min early to avoid the dash to find our seats it was a bit frustrating. They were very friendly about it just clearly a bit confused as to where we were supposed to sit. The show was great, but I will warn you the seats are very cramped. I'm slightly taller than average and my knees were digging into the row ahead of us. I felt so bad for the 6 foot man next to me who was folded into a pretzel to fit in his space. All in all we did have a good time but I don't think I would come here for a longer event simply because it wasn't very comfortable.

Beautiful theater. I like that they had ushers directing you to your seats.

Nice views of the stage. But in the balcony, there's precious little "pitch" between the seats. And I'm five foot ten.

The view from most all seats are great. The tickets to The Wizard of Oz were a little pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed the show. The reason for the 4 star review is that the seats are quite uncomfortable. We will go again in December to see the Illusionists. Very hard to find parking for a truck. The garages have low ceilings.

Saw ‘Hairspray’ at this theater which was an amazing performance! Broadway quality performance, will be going back. Theater itself is pretty, but our legs didn’t fit in our seats and our knees hit the seats in front of us (we had to sit sideways). It was very very cold inside, and a toilet flooded the women’s bathroom. Few renovations and it could be a stunning venue!

The building is easy to get to and there are a lot of parking options around. The seats however are awful. Unless you are sitting at the outer end of the rows, there's no leg room at all. We moved our seats and sacrifices view to he more comfortable. Aside from that, it's fantastic!

A very old playhouse in the Hotel DuPont. Limited views in the corners if your sitting there. Men's room in the basement, Women's room up stairs and on the main floor. Snacks and a limited bar. Set right in the heart of downtown Wilmington.

loved the show, super cute theater, but rude staff. Some staff at window call and that let you in at entrance door are so rude and don't want to deal with your questions and be bothered. One lady rolled her eyes at me for asking a question. The show starts, probably five ushers in the back talking so loud that more than a dozen audience members had to Shhh them. You couldn't hear the beginning of the show. They say turn your phone off then an usher was on her phone whole time sitting behind me. It's not that i cared she was on her phone, it's the fact that we're told to turn them off and i'm sure if i went on mine during the show i would have been thrown out. The stairs to the bathroom are so tight you can't even form a line to get to the rest room. I would only come back here to see a show i really wanted to see. But some of the ushers and workers there were just kinda rude and inconsiderate. These all may sound like trivial things, so do with it what you will.

Yelp
Theater is nice, the show was very good (Book of Mormon) but still only 1 star. We had 4 balcony seats for 4 people. 2 of the patrons are thin and around 5'5", my wife is 5'7" and I am 5'11", but due to no legroom we almost left. Ultimately one of our group found a folding chair, I sat on the steps (others did too) leaving the 4 seats for our wives. They had to sit side saddled due to the lack of legroom. We have seen other shows here without a problem. It is my understanding that these are new seats and they apparently don't fit well. We will not attend future shows.

Yelp
Great show and amazing esthetic, HOWEVER, the seats are TINY. Smaller than an airplane. I'm 5'7 and my knees were firmly pressed into the seat in front of me to the point where I have bruises. I had to move to an aisle seat during intermission. We sat on the mezzanine level. Be mindful if you are tall.

Yelp
Went to see "A Christmas Carol" at the Playhouse, 18 Dec 2023. I've been to several performances at this venue. Great old theater in the classic DuPont Hotel in Wilmington. While advertised as Dickens', it was some unfortunate musical adaptation that, frankly, was awful. Nowhere in the Playhouse's advertisement was this described as a musical adaptation created by the cast themselves. Ugh. At about $70 a ticket, I counted seven people around me that got up and left during the performance. Add to that, a guy near my wife and me was clearly drunk. He sat there singing out loud, repeating lines of the performance, and loudly commenting on the characters. The ushers came after he started a verbal confrontation with a couple in front of him in the middle of the first act. He simply stated, "I'm not leaving" to the ushers and they left. At the end of the show, people came up to him and told him how rude he was, as did we. He then got into another verbal confrontation with the couple who sat in front of him. The ushers (who are all elderly) did nothing. They should have bounced this idiot. Doubt we will ever go back, sad to say. Rudeness even at Christmas.

Yelp
Can't believe I'm the first to review this beautiful little theater - after all, she's 100 years old! Located on the ground floor of the Hotel DuPont, they get some reasonably mainline guest starts here. (We saw Colin and Brad from "Who's Line is It Anyway," and a few years ago, the traveling cast of STOMP.) It's a fairly small house so it would be difficult to get a poor seat. Of course, it's in downtown Wilmington, where the parking is cheap night (good) and the sidewalks roll up on a Saturday night (creepy). Makes stopping for nightcap after the show a little more cumbersome that going out on the town in a place like Philly, though on the bright side - between that and $3.00 parking, the evening ends up costing you only half as much. Worth going to a show there just to admire the theater and the old playbills adorning the wall. Americana.

Yelp
Always great performances. Love to take the family to see the shows. We had a great time a group of 16 this time. Brittany did an awesome time with our seats. Everyone was so happy

Yelp
Attended a showing of Pippin on 3/10/17, the theatre us in need of some TLC. The carpets in the mezzanine level were filthy, it looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in quite a while. The beautiful brass railings were in need of a good polishing as they were showing signs of oxidation. The venue is in need of a fresh coat of paint, and a total renovation of the ladies restroom is in order. I am really disappointed by the decline of the upkeep of this historic theatre. Much nicer when under management of the Hotel Dupont.
