"Tucked behind Brighton busy seafront, you might overlook this hidden gem. Those that venture past the frosted panes will discover a softly lit landscape of copper and dark wood. Inventive cocktails are the reason you are here, sourced by knowledgeable recommendations at your table. The perfect venue to hunker down and wait out Winter in one its many intimate corners.  This is the sort of place that ruins your best intentions for the evening, because you simply find no good reason to leave. "An eclectic cocktail bar hidden in Kemptown, The Plotting Parlour is an easy-peasy five-minute walk from the pier. It also just so happens to serve a Paloma that will keep that beach holiday high going long after you’ve attempted to get the sand out of your shoes. As well as serving creative takes on classic cocktails, we’re also very into the look of this bar. Think moody speakeasy meets baby Sistine Chapel, thanks to the dim-lighting, dark walls, red leather cinema seats, and a ceiling covered in renaissance paintings. We’d recommend booking ahead because all those pisco-loaded cocktails and their mezcal flight make this place permanently popular. Just don’t drink so many ginger margaritas that you miss your last train." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Tasty drinks, comfy atmosphere, >knowledgeable< and attentive staff. The table service, just checking in, recognized my Manhattan, and that it was a "perfect" one, just from the color. Color me impressed. Their signature drinks warranted a try: the peanut butter maple old fashion is great. Clear ice with their logo *chef's kiss*. Staff took time to explain the whole process of fat washing they use, and introduced the mad genius who mixes them up (and has on offer by the bottle). Great! Also pulled together a reasonable Remember the Maine, that ol' blast from the past. Why are you still reading? Get over there!

Google
Great bar, the interior is really inviting, clean, just an overall great space for drinks, the lady that served us had a lot of knowledge about the cocktails on the menu. Genuinely really good experience, great service and the cherry on top was how great the cocktails we had were! Will definitely be coming back. Great for dates, evening drinks, even a catch up drink with a friend!

The Plotting Parlour in Brighton has a relaxed, speakeasy-style atmosphere with artfully distressed furniture. It's a cocktail bar where hours are easily lost or maybe not since the bar shuts at 23:00. They offer a variety of cocktails, including: The Ginger & Chilli Margarita The House Limoncello The Peanut Butter & Maple Old Fashioned The House Martini The Rum Plum Negroni The staff are lovely and friendly, with a smile on their face, they are patient as well, they explained the menu quite a few times. If you're looking for an adult bar with a nice cool atmosphere then come to the plotting parlour 😊

Stunning cocktails a stone throws away from the sea! This place had somewhat of a speakeasy vibe - it was a lovely selection of cocktails including ones you can purchase by the bottle to takeaway! Very inspired

Google
Very nice atmosphere in a cool area of Brighton. Stopped there after dinner for a drink. Drinks looked and tasted amazing! They do last round one hour before closing so be sure to come in on time and plan ahead.

Google
This is a fantastic cocktail bar so if you want a craft beer this is not the place for you. There is a good selection of background music, not too loud. Together with the decor it creates a perfect atmosphere for a drink. Each drink is made by staff who are passionate about their trade. The flavours they manage to get into the glass are amazing. It can get very busy so I recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment. We take all our friends to this bar and often go before a meal in Brighton, we are never disappointed.

I fell in love with the atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service and recommended drinks that perfectly matched my preferences. The music was great, and the seating on the second floor was beautiful. I will definitely return.

Google
A little cold inside for my liking. However the two cocktails we had were great The martini was excellent blend and my pisco sour was very well made. So much so better than Peruvian restaurant nearby and even better than my fav Peruvian restaurant for Pisco in Madrid.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails in a very cool little venue. The flavours were really interesting - among the ones we tried were chai and ginger, and a carrot-cake inspired cocktail, with fun names like 'What's Up Doc?' and 'Pretty Chai For A Ginger Guy'. The decor is also a nice twist on a slightly dark and atmospheric study meets a pub, with armchairs and tables tucked in low-lit corners. The drinks were a tad on the pricy side, and the service wasn't always as quick as I would have hoped, but the cocktails were very good and everyone was very friendly. Save it as a treat, rather than a regular haunt. Oh, and remember the visit the bathroom - the decor is pretty cool!

Yelp
The Plotting Parlour offers delicious cocktails and amazing service in Kemptown. I tried the Espresso Martini and their biscuit cocktail (I can't remember the name, but I know it comes with a cookie!) and they were both pretty decent. Prices are standard, a little more than what you can find in other parts of town. Service was prompt as well as friendly!

Yelp
I remember stumbling across this 'secret' hidden away bar by taking a side street turning to head back home when I first moved to Brighton and I've been back several times ever since as I absolutely love it here! Even though the location is so close to the seafront it's tucked away nicely so you can easily come here in the afternoon and relax with it being relatively quiet and in the evenings even when it's full it never seems to feel that chaotic. The cocktails have got to be up there as some of the best in Brighton, if not further a field really. The same gent that has always served us is an exceptional bar tender (I'm not sure if he's the manager?) but I've worked my way through the menu over my visits and everyone that he makes is spot on. They do 3 different versions of the Espresso Martini which are scrumptious whichever one you have (I think it is salted caramel, vanilla and pistachio from memory) and the chili margarita is really stand out too (albeit very hot!). I love the decor and the ambiance in here. Good lighting, cool cinema seats with a very 1950s feel in the back area and a side area that feels a little more country house. The service is always good, although it can be a little bit slow when it's busier as can be expected in any cocktail bar. My only quibble is (and this is a running pet hate of mine) I've been in on my own before when it's virtually empty and I wasn't 'allowed' to sit a table for two in the cinema seats just 'in case' they get bigger groups in. Come on guys, let people sit where they like in the afternoon when it's quiet. Apart from that little niggle I'm totally in love with this place.

Yelp
I visited the Plotting Parlour for the first time last night. My first impression when walking in was quite surprising, in a great way, I didn't expect to be seated by a very friendly and polite hostess or for there to be table service. We were seated by the country and western style door as it was quite warm and were handed cocktail menus. We has a little chat with the waiter who was really lovely. Another waiter came over and took our orders, I had a twist on a pinacolada. My drink had white chocolate ask marshmellow in, it was amazing. My friend wanted something with strawberries in and they were so accommodating and made her something delicious. The venue itself reminded me of waking into a 1940s bar, the music, decor and staff uniform screamed New York speak easy which I was totally into. I would go back for sure!! And would highly recommend you checking it out.

Yelp
A girlfriend of mine, a Brighton local, suggested we pop in here on a Sunday! This place did not disappoint! I adore the decor here with vintage movie theatre seats, twinkle lights and a range of vintage jazz to good oldies singing in the background. It was quaint, comfortable and cozy with a laid back background. On Sunday's they have a 2 for 10£ drinks menu- I ordered the Paloma and stuck with it for the duration of my visit. Tequila blanco, grapefruit juice, mint and crushed ice was a nice refreshing treat! (Make sure to stir together before the first sip or you may be surprised with a tequila bite!) The service staff here was also very fun! Very attentive, lively and enjoyable!

Yelp
Yet again, this bar really can't be beaten for cocktails. I can't drink at the moment due to recent surgery, and the bar staff went out of their way to recreate my favourite cocktail in virgin form. No small order considering the original is nothing but booze! I really cannot recommend this place highly enough, you'll love the cocktails, and if you're really lucky you'll meet the Lady Catherine of Alabama ;)

Yelp
I've always wanted to try the Plotting Parlour, so upon searching for a cocktail bar in town my friend and I decided to go here. It is tucked away on Steine Street and I think if you didn't know it was there, you'd only find it on the off chance. We were greeted instantly by our super friendly waiter and seated quickly with some menus. The bar has a very warm feel to it and the decor is so beautiful! What I really like is that there is table service, you definitlely feel like you're getting a VIP service! The staff are really accomodating and you don't feel rushed when you're going to order, they are also open to any questions you may have about the drinks. They will happily go out of their way to make something for you if it's not on the menu! I can't fault this place and I would go back time and time again :)

Yelp
This place is everything I want in a cocktail bar - quirky decorations, fancy cocktails, gorgeous glassware, table service and a great playlist. The old cinema seating is super fun and the cocktail list is almost too good to make a choice on. It is a little pricey but totally worth it. It has been too long since I visited, must go back soon to try something new!

Yelp
Very quirky craft cocktail bar but you must call ahead to reserve your seating. I had a hard time choosing as the menu is very interesting. I chose the Tumi which is not for the faint of heart. There are many layers to this drink from the mezcal to the mole to the chocolate ganache rim. Great place to bring a date or meet up with some girlfriends.

Yelp
If loud clubs filled with tourists isn't for you, pop into the plotting parlour. It's a chill place with indoor and outdoor seating that's not too loud (perfect for plotting). This place serves interesting cocktails like Matcha Pretzel: Mezcal topped with actual pretzels! The service and bartenders was friendly and kept us there for a round longer than needed. Happy plotting!

Yelp
Ahh the plotting parlour. This place really cannot be beat for cocktails! And, seeing as I fancy myself as a bit of a cocktail connoisseur, I knew I had to check this place out. What can I say? This place was absolutely divine! I'm a massive fan of the cocktails at Merkaba, and I've been told this is where the bartenders from Merkaba go for drinks, so it must be good right? The Bartenders were happy to make tasty virgin cocktails for my boyfriend, who doesn't drink, and to be honest they looked just as splendid as the alcoholic versions I had! I'll most definitely be going there again... I feel like it's one of Brighton's best kept secrets!

Yelp
I don't drink. Cocktail bars are not my favorite places. This review is not going where you think. I walked in and the joint smelled like bergamot. I do like bergamot. I sat in the comfy cinema chairs at the back, I like that area. Dark and moody. It was my girlfriend's birthday. She liked all the cocktails here. She said they are almost as good as those she likes from the bar at MyHotel. My non-alcoholic cocktails were still quite expensive and only okay. It took AGES to get served. Good things come to those who wait. But not if you wait so long that you have to leave before you get served.

Yelp
The Plotting Parlour is small but perfectly formed. And, what's better, only a few dozen yards away from my home. They bill themselves as Brighton's best kept secret and I'm inclined to agree :) Cocktails seem to be their forte and I was lucky enough to sample a fair few of them at a recent Yelp event. There is only a dozen or so different cocktails on their menu, but the staff are more than happy to make "classics" as well as virgin versions of drinks for tee-totallers. The drinks on the menu were really nice, with amusing presentation. For example the Hemingway dacquiri had a page of one of his novel's pinned to the glass. Another drink was served in a milk bottle with a straw. A great place for a date I think, just need to find somone to come with me :)

Yelp
Favourite cocktail bar! Really lovely staff. Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Extraordinary menu. They also do a fantastic pornstar martini

Yelp
Friendly staff and cosy homely atmosphere. Perfect place for an afternoon drink with your friends.

Yelp
Never have I written a bad review but I think this experience may have deserved it. A couple of weeks ago my friend and I went to The Plotting Parlour as he was very fond of the place. Initially when we arrived we ordered our first drinks.. after waiting 45 minutes we politely asked the lady where the drinks where because they hadn't arrived, which she responded "oh you want to order 2 more" understandably this could of been a mix up but there already seemed to be a slight culture of shifting the blame. We also ordered 2 tequilas this time, when the lady came over she offered us the tequilas for free which was nice but in all honesty you would probably expect the cocktails to be free instead. After this we ordered a few more rounds of cocktails and it was all going well, the waiter/host accidentally dropped a large bottle of water which bounced off one lady at a table and came our way. No damage was done but also no apology was received to either tables, just asked if we wanted the water. Then came the penultimate, as my friend and I where speaking (our table faced towards the wall) the waiter/host came up behind us with 2 cocktails that we had ordered on a tray and as I was talking he leant forward, colliding with my arm and threw the cocktails all over us. Which once again can be fine accidents do happen until.... we were then thrown a towel to clean up and told it was a "joint effort from both parties" absolutely no apology instead when we then refused the replacement cocktails and said we were going to leave because we were soaked, my friends jeans looked like he'd taken a quick dip, and my jacket was ruined with a sticky drink all over it, the host gave us a look of disgust as if we were insulting him. When we went to the bar, we explained that we were surprised not to receive an apology and the least they could offer was a taxi ride back to get changed, the host actually started arguing and having a go at us that it wasn't his fault and then quoted to my friend "it was her fault as well" pointing at me. At this stage I was absolutely shocked at the response and the lack of any customer service or basic manners especially from a bar that ranks itself this highly. When my friend asked to speak to the manager as he was so shocked the host claimed he was the owner. Upon this refusal of being able to see anyone else or receive any form of apology my friend stated he would not pay the bill until it was sorted which the host reacted by shouted out loudly as if we were thieves, "SECURITY" which I find highly insulting as we are both professionals in our mid 20s and were clearly willing to pay the bill until the host reacted in this manner. The host then went on to say "YOU'VE BEEN GOOD AS GOLD AND NOW YOU DO THIS" in an incredibly patronising tone. Understandably my friend and this hosts discussion became heated and my friend threw the money down (Which may not have been the best of reactions) and left in absolute shock at the whole situation. As my friend walked off the host raised his voice and said..."WHAT A NASTY PIECE OF WORK" which I believe in any situation when you are working you should never insult a customer especially after an accident like this. The bill had also charged us everything including the cocktails thrown everywhere and tequilas. I can understand that accidents happen as I use to be a waitress and work in a busy bar likewise while working in these roles extra care should always be given in addition to apologies when accidents happen even if you consider this a joint effort. I will freely avoid this bar at all costs
