BAR New Haven Review - New Haven - The Infatuation

"In a town best known for its old-school pizza joints, it can be hard to fit in if you haven't been around for over 80 years (see: legends Frank Pepe’s and Sally’s). But Bar isn’t so worried about that—their famous mashed potato and thick-cut bacon pizza send all tradition by the wayside. Purists should sample the red pie with mozzarella and meatballs, which has a sweet and tangy sauce and a thin, charred crust. Wash it down with one of Bar’s excellent home-brewed beers." - Chloe Zale

Google
Popped in to have a Bloody Mary and got the avocado tacos and buffalo cauliflower bites. Both were delicious and the Bloody Mary was tasty too. The server behind the bar was really sweet and friendly. Really enjoyed the layout and atmosphere. Was there during the day but it probably looks really nice lit up with all the wood finishing at night. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Montauk!

Google
This is a great spot to kick back and enjoy a few beers. The burger and fries are solid and definitely worth trying. However, the other dishes we ordered were pretty average. The clams casino were underwhelming, the mussels lacked flavor, and the shrimp cocktail and scallops didn’t leave much of an impression either. That said, the service was excellent—friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience. If you stick to the burgers and the beer, you’ll have a good time here.

Google
We’ve been coming here over 10 years and food has been consistently good! Burgers are awesome and many other items are good too. We had lobster roll, catch of the day, wings, salad and many others and they are all well seasoned and cooked. Fast service and friendly staff. We had seafood poboy and usual NY strip with mashed potatoes and corns. It’s hard to get reservation in the summer but they usually have available seats outdoor. Diet Coke was flat but otherwise it was a good quick dinner.

Google
Delicious and local! Amazing tasty food and really great service in the heart of Montauk

Google
Cajun Calamari, a bit of kick with pickled pepperoncino, cajun spice, red onions, sweet chili, and the freshest crunchy calamari. We look forward to this dish every summer☀️ Enough said!

Google
The beer is good. The cocktails are not that good. The food is well prepared and quite tasty. Very tasty dessert. The service is nice. The tables are sticky and are difficult to wipe down. Convenient parking. Prices are moderate, but not low. The impressions after the visit are mixed. We stopped by only because we were hungry and it was an establishment that was working... You can eat, enjoy the food and the atmosphere - it’s unlikely...

Google
We grabbed some easy dinner here after visiting the lighthouse few miles away. The sandwiches and burgers were pretty cheap and the taste was definitely worth it. the creamy seafood pasta had muscles, prawns, and lobsters in it and tasted fabulous. The burger wasn’t too good, but considering the price and portion, it’s definitely worth it. A good place to stop by and get some easy meal.

Google
Minimal wait time . For seating and food was great . Wait staff were friendly .

Yelp
we came in this past weekend for Memorial Day to have a good time and the anorexic blonde bartender, Kristi was so rude and even more slow. Everyone else was amazing. We will not be coming back solely because of her.

Yelp
I Googled "Montauk Happy Hours" thinking I'd get no hits, but was pleasantly surprised to find that The Point had a weekday happy hour from 4-6. My brother and I were out here doing a nostalgia tour of spots we used to come on family vacations here, and decided to stop in after walking by Puff & Putt. Ambiance is very much a dive bar. The bar crowd was us and a bunch of old men which was a nice change from the dressed to the nines influencers walking the streets here, honestly. Our bartender was super friendly and let us know their happy hour deal (half priced middle shelf mixed drinks which included Tito's and Tanqueray - amazing). This was a great stop for a quick, cheap, cold drink -- which are few and far between these days in Montauk. If you're here on a weekday, I highly recommend stopping in.

Yelp
The food was pretty good and tasty. There was a lot to choice on the menu, personally I like when a restaurant was a wide selection but I feel like there was to many dishes on the menu which made it hard to decide. The wait for drinks took a while but the food came pretty quickly. The ambiance was pretty nice for being right next to the busy street. I found it a little weird that they give us plastic cups not sure if there was a shortage of reusable cups. Otherwise I had a good time was at The Point Bar & Grill would come back!

Yelp
This bar was across the street from the hotel where me and my wife were staying. We came here on a Sunday to grab a few drinks and watch football. This place had plenty of tv's and looked like the local spot to watch sports on Sundays. Great drinks and beer on tap and the atmosphere was super chill and laid back which I love. I had a few pumpkin Montouk sand my wife and a few vodka and seltzers. The bartenders were great and we had a great time bar hoping and stopping here for drinks. We had an appetizer here which was amazing and we went with the south west chicken egg roll. It was fried to perfection and very flavorful. If I'm ever in Montauk, I will definitely be coming back here. Super dope & chill spot to hang out with friends & family and enjoy yourself. They have an extensive food menu with all types of amazing bar food. Can't wait to come back and try different things.

Yelp
Lots of good stuff all around. Nice ambiance, good vibes, awesome staff! Unfortunately, they serve baby pints so it's a 3 from me.

Yelp
We went to the point for a dinner with my team. Cool pub , low key vibe. We started with Nachos and ordered crowd favorite's : burger , spicy check , steak and fish n chips. Food was good and certainly an easy choice Montauk !

Yelp
Quaint sports bar in Montauk. Was pretty busy when we got there so we had to wait a bit. Staff was friendly and our wait wasnt too long. The prices were reasonable. A lot of different sandwiches/burgers on the menu. I opted for the fish ruben which was fresh and not greasy like other rubens ive had. I was expecting it to have 1000 island but it didnt which was fine as it was really good on its own. My brother had the buffalo chicken wrap which he liked - no complaints. Love this area and cant wait to be back.

Yelp
Classic bar. We watched some of the Euro 24 football here. Good TVs, friendly staff and enough on the bar menus to provide nibbles through the games.

Yelp
Food and service was great. 100% will recommend this place. We went here twice. From starters, to entree, to their drink. Everything was really good.
google avatar

Yelp
We were on our way to the 7/11 because were told by our hotel nothing else was open late but drove by and saw people inside so turned around to give it a try. Sandwiches were enjoyed and we were grateful to have yummy hot food! Ambiance I'd say is typical for an old tavern but we weren't there for the ambiance.

Yelp
I do not recommend. I feel that this place Probably makes money off tourists because being from Long Island , the food was terrible. Baked clams were mushy and had a weird taste. Fried pickles no flavor. Fried calamari was slimy and the breading was just Coming off, no flavor . Seafood pasta was flavorless and all the seafood was gross and rubbery , probably frozen seafood.

Anne O.

Yelp
Food is ok at best - After dinner, we went to the bar area to have a drink with friends and the bartender told us to stop laughing so loudly. It was a Saturday night at 10:00.

Yelp
On a visit to Montauk we Stopped in for a quick lunch. Menu has a good selection. The chili is delicious. food was all great. Service was fast and friendly. Has a classic old school Long Island feel that gives it personality.

Yelp
Yes we would go back!! Great local joint, we had a few drinks and several appetizers exactly what we needed! Lovely staff too!!

E X.

Yelp
Open late, delicious food, good local beer. Plenty of large screen TVs around, but this nice place has a very woody, homey local feel. Great service too. We ended up here because it looked open, when everything else was close on an off season weeknight. It was delicious! Glad we stopped by.

Yelp
Went for lunch a few weeks ago, only a few guests there. Had a bacon cheeseburger that was good, nice grill taste, not exceptional. Cold beer, good service. Not quite four star, but I would go again.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food!! We stay in MTK for a few weeks, eat here at least 3 or 4 times during our stay. Well worth it, we love it here! Seafood is always fresh, muscles are my wife's go to, she loves them

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite to eat before going to the lighthouse and park. Got in little after lunch time and sat at the bar easily. Place was pretty empty with sports on the tv. We order our food and got drinks right away from the bartender. While waiting for our food we drank and talked and eventually needed another beer. This is where 1 star gets taken off. She wasn't to worried about serving people but whatever was on her phone had to be good because that's where she was for the most part. The food came out and I eventually got my 2nd beer. The burger was very well done which I ordered it medium. The chicken sandwich was also tough to bite into. Kinda had to tear the meat to get a bite. The jam it came with was good but not sure if they actually make that. So yes another star was taken for the food. Maybe it was a bad day to come here or maybe this is the way they are. Just come here to sit at the bar and be on your way to the next spot on your list. Or end at this one.

Yelp
Did take out doe dinner . My meal was good, fish Reuben , and another meal was good . One meal however fell a little short . She for the fish and chips , but the fish was like 3 fish sticks, Soo small. Unfortunately it was take out snd we didn't see it until we got to our hotel. For $22 it clearly was not adequate, but too late to do anything about. They have a big sign that you must be vaccinated to enter , which was good . Staff and patrons were not wearing any masks. I felt with COVID rates rising so much on Long Island, servers should all wear masks at least for now, but that is just an opinion. They didn't violate anything.

Yelp
Very busy Saturday afternoon but the staff was very attentive and on top of things, newly vacated tables were promptly tended and orders flew to the tables. Our server Maddy was very prompt. With a SRO restaurant and bar our drink order came out to us in just a few short minutes. The fish and chips were near perfect and highly recommended

Yelp
I came here with my mom after smelling burgers in the air! We started with the pineapple punch which says it had "muddled" berries in it. They came completely whole and not mixed in the drink which lacked any Tito's. Whatever. My mom and I had fun making our drinks better with extra shots and crushing the fruit ourselves. The pretzel was very good but the cheese tasted very cheap, and when it cooled it stayed the same consistency which raised some red flags for me, since real cheese hardens. This restaurant claims to have the "biggest and best" burger on their menu. This was unfortunately not my experience. I ordered the point burger, and thought I was playing it safe by ordering it medium. I was served a cheeseburger that was burnt on the ends and completely raw in the middle? How is this possible? Not only that but the menu claims it's served with pickles and I was served it with two small pickle chips. It's a pickle guys. They're the cheapest thing you can serve. I expected way more from a place with about 7 different burgers on the menu. My mother loved the chili and kept saying how it tasted like pepperoni pizza! It was very tasty and I was thankful I wasn't going to be leaving this place starving since mom couldn't finish her food. Our server Lili was very sweet and an attentive waitress. I would leave one star if it was not for her!

Yelp
This bar is close to the Jitney bus stop so my girlfriend and I stopped here to do some work while we are a bit of food before going to the share house we were staying at for the weekend. We started with the scallops, which were good. I then had a Sierra Nevada hazy IPA and the fish tacos. The fish tacos had a grilled cheese on them which was delicious. I could have used some hot sauce though.
google avatar

Jv V.

Yelp
The catch of the day was amazing the tuna taco on my top 3 right now Highly recommended

Katherine M.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of the place, the waitress was really attentive and nice! The food was good, we had the calamari, fish sandwich and the chicken sandwich. I loved the french fries also. We ordered a blackberry margarita and to be honest it was not good at all, the berries peeled gave it a weird texture and tasted like water down tequila with pieces of berries. Overall a nice experience tho

Yelp
Dark and dreary little east end pub in Montauk across from The Rolling Stones made famous Memory Motel. I'd give it 2 stars but the food and drinks are fine, the people friendly and the patrons happy enjoying it It has the horrible sound of Football on what I counted to be about 12 TVs. I couldn't escape as it was my friends choice of pub. It takes upbeat music to make a dark pub any fun. It was a Sunday afternoon and I am told it is rocking at nights on weekends.

Yelp
For "bar food" this place is super delicious and has exceeded all our expectations the last three years we've been to Montauk on our winter break from the city. First, let's just start with the fact that The Point is one of the very few restaurants that's open in the winter AND despite covid chaos. The Christmas decor is a bonus -- so festive and fun! (Thanks for keeping going when almost all the others have closed for the season.) The food!? The food is ALWAYS delicious. We always LOVE the tuna steak and tuna app salad...and the scallops and the fish and chips. Most of our meals start with a shared bowl of chili -- YUM! The drinks are generous and the service has always been A+ for us.

William K.

Yelp
Go here if you'd like the server to not even say hello and if you'd like burnt hockey pucks instead of a hamburger for a meal. Go here for beers but plenty of better options around.
google avatar

Anushka B.

Yelp
Really liked the food and the ambience here. They have a large selection of menu items to choose from. We tried their Cajun calamari (super quality and flavor), steamed mussels (my first time and I liked it), hot chilli soup (tasty), fish tacos (tasty, but not the best, the fish could be more flavorful), catch of the day (got cod, the prep was decent in taste, lacked flavor), molten chocolate lava cake (good portion and taste). Cool vibe with all the screens, good service.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food. Ordered fried calamari (FRESH, I think. Certainly didn't taste like Restaurant depot!!) and steak tidbits, which were tasty. Seared tuna tacos and seared sesame tuna for entrees. Quite good. Service was on point!! (No pun intended) It was a little chilly, sitting by the window, but it is the middle of January in Montauk, so it's expected. Lol.

Arleen F.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was horrible especially the mussels They had a horrible smell ): also had a salad. Dressing had no flavor. Tuna was flavorless also very poor quality food.

Gregory F.

Yelp
Service was quick and polite. Pub style food and it came out amazingly. My only critique was that we had app plates and one of the plates had dried ketchup on it. Not a complete turn off but should be something they check before bringing stuff to a table.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
I mean it's fine bar food... drinks are fine, mozzarella sticks and potato skins are good and we got free shots from the bartender. Main course is fine... it's what you'd expect from a bar & grill. My family liked their Reuben burgers, didn't like the Worcestershire burgers and my Buffalo chicken wrap was fine. Got a surprise fried calamari thrown in there too. Overpriced for what you get, but it's Montauk.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Delete all you want. Word of mouth is the heart and soul of "restaurants." This is the pits and I'd never go there again. Food is awful, staff is lazy, and if you like rats scroll down.
google avatar

Deidre W.

Yelp
The Point Bar has a really friendly vibe. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. We didn't eat much. My friend had the lobster quesadilla, which she liked. I just had the beer battered mozzarella sticks, which were the best I have ever had. We also both had a Watermelon Margarita and sat outside sipping them. This is a casual venue.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Solid burger, good quantity of fries, cooked to specifications, and ready on time. Not too expensive either, relatively speaking. Good safe bet for Montauk.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Ive been here twice. The first time was years ago during off season. This place has a certain charm about it. The game is always on & its great for a bite or a pint. My more recent trip here was very different. They have for sure stepped their menu and service game up. The crispy chicken rolls were so good and my fish sandwich was super fresh. The drinks are great as always. The outdoor seating is on the sidewalk and spills into the parking lot for dinner service. The main road right there can be kind of loud and bustling at times but you forget about after a few minutes. Overall a pretty great little spot in town.
google avatar

Ellen S.

Yelp
Seems to get a lively bar scene both locals and tourists. It can get loud especially as people bring their kids. Prices seemed reasonable.
google avatar

Emma H.

Yelp
Didn't get to eat - no one served us or offered waters for 30 minutes. We went inside after waiting 20 minutes in the sun and then 10 minutes inside - they sat us down but again no service. Wasn't too busy and there were 3+ waiters serving other tables and bringing them waters. Won't be going back to try the food.
google avatar

Rocco C.

Yelp
One of the only places in Montauk that doesn't have exorbitant prices but this is a pub with decent grub. Only gripe is we were seated in a booth that had a leaky ceiling. We let the waitress know and she said "I know"???
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
The fish of the day was good! Tasty and fresh. The place is good for families with children on the left side of the place. The right side will be for people watching games on TV. A little rowdy on that side. The staff were a bit slow at around 6:30pm. We loved the cheesecake with banana! Came with vanilla ice cream. We will Go back again for that!
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Pretty standard bar - Tim our server was a nice guy - ended up getting us free round of shots since we were celebrating my bday and engagement while watching the Giants game. Nice move Tim ;) the food was all pretty standard bar fair. Good burger and fries. We sat outside and watched the Giants game. Overall, good stuff!
google avatar

Yelp
Really disappointed that when a grown man who quite clearly looks exhausted and like he's been working on the water all day (he was) asks if they carry Mac & Cheese, the waiter would respond with a "yeah, it's good" and then proceed to serve him a scoop of what looks like Krafts out of a box. The best part is when said tired and hungry man questions "what the hell do call this?", he would be told "well it is off the kid's menu" and "there's nothing I can do about it"....Seriously?! When I called shortly after my husband's experience to speak to a manger, I heard the woman who answered and told me to hold on whispering with a man and she then got back on to say "The manager just stepped out". What a sad overall experience and really really poor customer service.
google avatar

Rich P.

Yelp
We've been coming here for a while. Used to be a good place for a burger and a beer. 'Used to be' is the key here. 2 of our 4 beers were disgustingly skunked (different beers too). Food order was barely out of our mouths before it arrived, obviously cooked to perfection. Whatever passed for chicken in my wife's quesadilla is an insult to chickens. I think my burger was precooked and reheated to melt the cheese. Very disappointed since we used to like coming here and there are not a lot options like it in Montauk.

Jessica L M.

Yelp
This bar is abysmal. As a female, I feel completely uncomfortable being around this bar. My sister in law not only violated, but raised her concern and was silenced in the processed. I am going to restrict all of my friends and family Members from going to this dangerous establishment and hope there arent instances in the future for everyone's safety

John O.

Yelp
Cute little gem that we found when visiting montauk - the staff members were so nice and helped us out a bunch with recommendations. Even though we were just visiting for the weekend, they made us feel like locals. Our bartender, Skyla, made a great, well-mixed cocktail. Our waitress, Chelsea, was super speedy in bringing out our food and drinks while also being super sweet with helping us out with recommendations.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Decided to come here of all places to give it a shot with our large group. We ordered drinks from the bar, and they were expensive side, but ok. The fish tacos were skimpy and not good. The baked clams were horrible. The baked clam batter was barely broiled, if at all. Attempted to eat the baked clam "batter", and this is when I tasted dishwasher cleaner fluid that must have been inside the re-used shell and soaked into the batter. It was godawful, and I had to stop eating immediately as I was afraid of being poisoned. Other meals were all basic burgers and dogs and they were just ok. Overall, definitely not worth the money, and management needs to seriously focus on not only the lower quality of the food but also the dishwashing and clam shell washing process. Not acceptable! Next time, we're going to Shagwong Restaurant for a sure thing.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
We come here every time we are in Montauk for a good Buffalo chicken wrap. Not fancy, but it's reliable!
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
Staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. Star of the show was the clam chowder. The soup alone was 6-stars!! I wish I had passed on the buffalo chicken wrap and had a second bowl of chowder.

Yelp
i went here during off season and it was pretty busy. we sat ourselves wherever and we got our orders taken. maybe five minute wait for the food which is insaaaane but amazing. food was very good! however my pasta wasn't super hot, but my partner's chicken was very hot. kind of odd but i'd definitely come back!
