Chicago Bar Owner Claims His Shut-Down Club Is a ‘Scapegoat’ for City’s Failure to Reduce Crime - Eater Chicago

"The Point nightclub in Wicker Park was shut down by Chicago police citing safety concerns over several shootings outside the bar. The first shooting in October 2021 was the result of a fight inside the bar, while the second shooting in February involved a man firing shots into the bar from the street, striking a customer." - Naomi Waxman

Illinois to Roll Back Mask Mandate in Late February as COVID-19 Case Rates Decline - Eater Chicago

"The Point nightclub at 1565 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park was temporarily shut down by police superintendent David Brown after shots were fired into the building. This was the second incident in six months. Previous incidents led to a ban on overnight parking on certain blocks of Milwaukee Avenue. Owner Jun Lin had called police twice to disperse a crowd before the shooting occurred, which happened outside of business hours." - Naomi Waxman

Fun venue offering a variety of electronic dance music, dancing, and pool. Plus they have a pretty awesome dj stage (not pictured).

The venue is cute and intimate but it's pretty grimy. I was talking to a friend about whether we should stay or find a busier spot and set my purse on the bar while we spoke. I then had to promptly whisk my purse off the bar because he noticed a VERY LARGE adult cockroach crawling directly towards my unzipped bag. We left immediately and I haven't been back despite wanting to see several of their headliners this winter. I know fumigation costs money but I can't envision myself spending another dime here. Maybe, eventually, I'll show up to a free event well pregame but that's the most I'm willing to do because ROACHES.

Staff double charged me on my bill and gave themselves a $20 extra tip. Completely unprofessional. Plenty of other better venues in the area.

The security personnel at this place are horrible. They touched my body inappropriately, making it seem like they were searching a person rather than respecting boundaries. The place is very dirty as well.

Cool little venue. Good vibe. Can go outside and smoke during shows. That's cool. I had a good time here

Super intimate venue and the DJs are so good. They have free water!

Sound was good for the most part, unless songs had a lot of bass, then the rattle overtook the rest of the sound. Went for a Taylor Swift TTPD listening party and they played maybe 5 songs from the album?? Not sure why I paid $20 to hear an album they barely ended up playing. Also not sure how a $7 beer and $5 water ended up being $17, even with the 20% gratuity that they automatically include. I even gave an extra $2 because the bar staff was friendly, so all in all I paid nearly $40 for one beer, one bottle of water, and to not hear any of the songs I came to hear. Would probably only come here again if a band I liked happened to perform, would not seek this place out otherwise. Edit to add: also appeared that staff was smoking inside the venue, as there was a strong smell coming from a door that only staff were going in and out of. Place was maybe at 25-30% capacity so it obviously was not a patron.
