Best Pool Bars in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"This rooftop pool is quite the scene, but do not bring the kids. It’s for those who are down for decadent adult fun with a DJ, foam guns, and people literally throwing money to get the pool riled up. The Pool Club menu includes veggie wraps, taco salads, burgers, and tacos. The cocktails are expectedly irreverant, with names like the Coconut Telegraph (Bacardi Coconut Rum, velvet falernum, and cream of coconut) and She’s a Very Tiki Girl (a rum and absinthe mixture that will either make you feel groovy or make you forget you ever felt anything). Passes, cabanas, and VIP options are available online." - Courtney E. Smith

Great place inside the Virgin Hotel. Wonderful music, service , food and drinks. Staff was amazing. Enjoy whenever staying at the Virgin Hotel or visiting for an event.

Great atmosphere but service is sorely lacking. Staying at the hotel for work and popped by on a Sunday afternoon to relax at the pool—it was understandably very busy since it was a weekend, so unfortunately my experience was not all that relaxing since there was a loud DJ playing. They do a bag check at the entrance so I had to give up my plastic water bottles before coming in. They do have water stations with small cups around the pool but on a hot day, those go quickly. I met a coworker who was already there and watched as a server walked right by us and delivered drinks to the chairs next to us, but did not check in to take our order. I figured it might be quicker to go to the bar myself, so I did and waited about 8 minutes as the second person in line before one of the apparent two bartenders could take my order. Instead of greeting me, he pointed at me to take my order—a mocktail: Born Yesterday. The bar was very small and appeared to have all of the servers and bartenders behind it and two of the servers were shouting and laughing with each other so loudly that I had to shout my order twice for the bartender to hear it. I took the drink back to my chair and immediately regretted not asking for a cup of ice for water, because we didn’t see another server stop by for another 15 minutes. When he did stop by, I asked him for an ice water as my coworker ordered her drink, and he dismissively said: “there’s water stations all around the pool sweetheart”. I told him I saw them but there was no ice available to keep them cool and they also only held about 6 oz water. He said he guess he could bring me a cup of ice. I told him not to worry about it and went back to the bar, waited another 10 minutes for said ice, just to find all the water stations had been removed for refilling and then had to wait another 5 minutes at the bar for them to fill up my ice cup with water before heading back to my chair. The server must not have heard my request to cancel the ice because then he brought an actual ice water out about 10 minutes later (25 minutes after ordering then canceling it). I eventually ordered another mocktail and while waiting decided to dip into the pool—I saw our server drop other drinks off to people in the pool so was hoping he might do the same for mine but watched as he brought my drink back to the chair. All in all, probably a first world problem kind of day, but I do think spending $36 on two non-alcoholic drinks (prior to tax and tip) does come with a reasonable expectation of better staffing and more elevated service, even on busy days.

One of the best spots to get drinks in Dallas, with a view! There is PLENTY of seating & they have the cutest decor throughout the entire Virgin Hotel. I highly recommend coming for girl’s night, bach party, or birthdays! My fave drink is the “Pretty in Pink.” Update: Sadly, my last experience here was awful. I planned a small get together for my bf’s birthday & I wish we’d gone elsewhere. I bake, so I made him a cake & called ahead to ensure it would be okay to do so. When we arrived, no one assisted us (which was fine b/c we’d been before & knew where to sit), but the staff was rude for no reason. The bartenders ignored my friends for 15 minutes when they arrived (it was very dead that evening), so when I arrived, we just sat ourselves & assumed there would be someone who could assist us after. A manager came to our table (b/c she saw I had a cake) & told us about the cake cutting fee, which I was told wasn’t a thing when I called the previous day. We didn’t mind paying it, but it was ridiculous that we were ignored for so long until they saw a reason to charge us. Then they let us order drinks only to then tell us that they’d be closing in 15 minutes? We could have just left if we knew that, but they just wanted us to pay for a few minutes of service. We felt very rushed & were confused because there were 10 of us & had they been kind, they could have made a lot more money. We only came for drinks & small bites, but after the experience, everyone just wanted to leave. Only giving 2 stars b/c place is VERY beautiful & has good drinks, but don’t always expect great service.

I loved the event that was held here! It had all age ranges in a club atmosphere. The space is really beautiful and would love to go on a warmer night. The view of the city is really beautiful

I was there for a private cocktail event that was fabulous. The space is really nice and the rooftop would've been great if it weren't so chilly that evening of my attendance. I can't speak to the food because I didn't eat. Lots of photo opportunities

Dope vibes at the pool. Really regret coming here for the first time with the summer coming to an end, opposed to being here all summer long. My friends kept saying they felt like they were in Vegas. Might I add, I got to meet the legendary D.O.C. that worked with NWA. Bring on 2022.

I came in on a Saturday and bought general admission just to grab a quick bite pool side. When I walked in I saw reserved seating (that cost money) and I saw FREE day beds that were first come first served. I noticed people were leaving their belongings on the free day beds as place holders, while they got in the pool. So I asked wait staff was this allowed, and 2 of the girls collectively said “no they shouldn’t be doing that” So I walked back in and sat at the free day beds, filled with stuff, and a white man approached me and said this is my bed but it’s okay I’ll let you stay here. I chuckled and said yeah the wait staff already told me I’m good. And startled by my response he said no I’ve been here all morning , and I said yes at a FREE day bed. You can’t just leave your stuff here as a placeholder and expect to have it reserved all day. Reserved seating cost money and you didn’t spend any money. And then he threatened to have me kicked out. Lol, it amazes me how they think they have this much power especially when they haven’t spent any money. Eventually a waitress came over took my order and I gave her my credit card and she completely ignored this disgruntled man because she wanted to make some money!

Yelp
My friends and I visited this place on a Saturday night for 2 of our birthdays. This is not an inexpensive place, but the atmosphere is pretty good. When we first arrived, we bought drinks and stood around for about 30 minutes. We decided to buy a section which was over $700. Our hostess sat us down and went to get our bottle. While our hostess was gone, another hostess came over with security and told us that this table was reserved and that we had to get up. The security guard repeated the same thing telling us that we had to get up. I told them that we had just paid for this table but they didn't want to hear what we were saying and still demanded that we get up. I demanded a refund and argued with them that we had paid, but they still didn't want to hear what I was saying. The complaining hostess was really rude and obnoxious. About five minutes later the hostess supervisor came over and produced our receipt to the security guard and hostess. The complaining hostess and security guard never checked to see if we had paid but immediately demanded that we get up from our section. The security guard apologized but the complaining hostess never said a word and avoided us the rest of the night...Later in the night, they tried to get us to move again because a party wanted our section so that they could combine two sections. This is after we had been sitting there well over two hours. No way to be treated for customers that spent over $1K for the night.

Yelp
Last night I went to the Pool Club at the Virgin Hotels Dallas to celebrate my client. Even though they have a great ambiance...the service was unacceptable and they are highly disorganized. I booked a reservation online for the night cabana for June 11 and I called and emailed to get confirmation of attire, pool access, and food menu for the minimum purchase. I called multiple times on Monday, June 7 and Tuesday, June 8 and left voicemails for the Pool Club as well as emailed the reservation team that was mentioned in the voicemail. Tuesday, June 8 a man from the Pool Club called me back and confirmed that the food menu would be available for my reservation and that the kitchen would close at 10 PM with the last food orders going in at 9:30 PM. He also emailed me and confirmed this in an email to me on the same day and mentioned this over the phone. In my conversation with the hotel they also shared that the pool is off limits at night time stating that we couldn't get in the pool after 9 PM as it's only accessible sun up to sun down. I reserved this cabana to celebrate my client and was hoping to utilize the pool and enjoy food and beverages with our guests. Even though I was informed the pool was off limits my guests and I decided to still keep our reservation as the food menu was confirmed with me. Last night when I arrived for my reservation I placed my food order right away to make sure it went in. Our server Jade kept saying that she was checking the kitchen but after an hour of waiting our food still wasn't there and it was after 9:30 PM. When we spoke to Jade she shared that she put in the ticket but it never printed and then one of the managers said they were going to get our food made. About 15 minutes later that person and Jade came back to the cabana to tell us that they made changes for the summer and their food menu stops at 6:30 PM on Fridays not 9:30 PM. The man pulled up a phone and showed a number that he called stating he told this person that it closes at 6:30 PM. The number was mine and he never said 6:30 PM. He clearly stated the kitchen closes at 10 PM, last orders in at 9:30 PM and he emailed me back the same thing. He blatantly lied even though I have emailed proof of what was stated. Nearly 2 hours later they gave us food (different from our original order as they had 2 different menus) and we were unable to order more. In addition to the food situation, there were guests utilizing the pool though I was told we couldn't beforehand. A night meant to be just for joy and celebration was unfortunately filled with disorganization and dishonesty by the Pool Club, frustration, and hunger for our guests. Based on this service and behavior treated by the staff I don't see me recommending any other guests to the Pool Club.

Yelp
Beautiful new hotel in the middle of Design District. It was a cool evening with a bit of a breeze but not too cold, so I wanted to visit a rooftop bar. My friend thought of this place, so we said why not! When we approached the host at the front and told him we wanted to visit the bar, he told us that we looked like "nice people" and would let us in to the Pool Club, although reservations are usually required. He gave us a wrist band and directed us to the 4th floor. There was a bouncer at the door of the Pool Club checking for wrist bands. Looking back, though, I'm not sure how "exclusive" the club actually is, as more and more people started trickling in as the night went on. 4th floor doesn't seem like much, but you still get a nice view of the Dallas downtown skyline! We got drinks and some calamari. The calamari were okay at best. The drink I got, the galactic, was refreshing, fruity, not too sweet. We walked around a bit. It's quite a large rooftop bar with various seating areas - some around fire pits, some overlooking Design District. I'd say this is a nice place to visit with a group of friends or on a date. Service is friendly, timely, attentive. Staff members were all wearing masks. I would go for the drinks and views, but not for the bar bites (which is from the restaurant in the hotel downstairs).

Yelp
I made a reservation for this place in hopes of just grabbing some quick drinks and a meal before going out for the day. Unfortunately a reservation does not guarantee you'll be seated anywhere and the food served is finger food. To order, you must walk up to the bar which can be a pain since the bar is always packed. My mimosa glass looked a bit dirty and the chicken tenders were average. The best thing about this place is the view. The woman that checked on us to ask for more drinks was very kind though. This place seems to only be worth the visit if you plan on going to the pool deck, not to lounge/relax around the club for drinks and food.

Yelp
Great spot in the Design District to relax and have a few amazing cocktails with friends! Service was absolutely amazing and bar staff were friendly and well knowledgeable on great cocktail choices! Zak and Mackenzie were top notch! Met Chris as well and he's such a great manager to have! Will be back and will try more of their drinks and live entertainment! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been here a few times. The first time the waitress was amazing. Quick service and very polite. My second time visiting the service was a bit slower and they forgot a few things. Over all it's a lovely experience with beautiful scenery. Absolutely love the flower tree decor and their yummy charcuterie board

Yelp
The Pool Club, is absolutely one of those places that the vibe changes depending on the day, and time you visit. It's easy to go from a relaxing time in the pool, to an "one more bottle please" type of evening. I love the lounge vibe I get during the week, but if you love to people watch, and wiggle a little, Friday's and Saturday's aren't to be missed! Sunday brunches are fun too! Not the place to enjoy if your pockets have an echo, but the ambiance is well worth it! Lucashay xoxo Lorenzo

Glass of rosé by the pool. Classy + modern ambience that is perfect for a night with friends by the pool.

Yelp
I most definitely found my new summer hangout spot. This place is GORGEOUS with an amazing view of the Dallas skyline. There's plenty of seating to enjoy the weather when it's nice. The drinks are pretty good too. Not much on the menu was appealing but I guess that's what to expect for bar food. But I really enjoyed my experience here and can't wait to enjoy my summers sipping on cocktails taking in that view.
