The Porch Has Best Damn Martini Deal in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"After a temporary closure for a facelift, the 15-year Henderson Avenue staple reopened with a climate-controlled front porch, a new side beer garden, and interior updates; the bar menu was revamped by Midnight Rambler’s Gabe Sanchez and the operation is owned by Headington Companies. The all-day menu leans into comforting crowd-pleasers—spinach-parmesan dip, tortilla soup, a giant soft, pillowy pretzel served with whipped butter and beer mustard, burgers, a club sandwich, chicken-fried steak, and a rich short rib stroganoff with pappardelle—while a surprise standout is the grilled salmon bowl: coconut citrus rice topped with perfectly cooked salmon, edamame, pickled carrots, cucumber, radish, scallion, mango pico, and avocado nori aioli. The classic, well-executed house burger is served to temperature and satisfies, and the stroganoff is hearty enough to share. Drinks are a highlight: a martini made with gin, blanc vermouth, and Salers is normally $16 but is offered for $2 all day on Tuesdays ('Tini Tuesday'), and the cocktail list includes Old Fashioned, Negroni, margarita, originals like a pepper smash, five mocktails, and a solid wine selection. With colorful new booths, a modest-volume modern pop/rock playlist, unpretentious but comfortable service, and seating that suits couples, groups, or solo diners at the long bar, the space works equally well for casual after-work visits or a dressier night out." - Kevin Gray

I've been fortunate to participate in several Porch offerings, including editing services, classes and book clubs. It's a unique and really special organization in Nashville and I've loved every experience with them!

The Porch is a true Nashville gem — a supportive community of writers and folks who dream of writing and learning and sharing their work in an amazing environment offering workshops and classes. There are also events, open studios, editorial services and dedicated outreach to Immigrants and Refugees — plus partnerships with many of Nashville other non-profits. I’ve been an enthusiastic Porch member since 2014 (around the time it opened) and am so grateful for it and have learned so much. Sign up for a class, a reading . . . especially during Covid when community and learning feels so important.

I love what The Porch does for the Nashville literary community. I can't be as involved as I'd like due to money and time, but I think this is an essential organization. I have gone to their write-ins and silent book club events and loved getting out around other readers and writers.

I just participated in a Porch-sponsored writers' retreat at Blue Spring Creek and it was very well done. The chance to write for hours - unfettered by meaningless exercises or mundane chores - was glorious and the grounds provided lots of soothing nature scenes.
