Returned here with friends for brunch on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30p. It was busy, then, by the time we were seated, it started to clear out. I was excited about the biscuits and gravy...WAS excited.
Items Ordered
Biscuits and gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs: 2.3/5
- I am not sure what happened, or if this was just an off day. The biscuits were dry, like borderline Popeyes. The gravy was not as flavorful as I remember. The bacon was alright. The eggs were eggs and I had a side pancake that was not the best. Flat, dry, with powered sugar? (To be fair, I didn't check if it actually was listed on the menu like that)
Fried Green Tomatoes: 3.8/5
- these were fine. Sour, salty, good crust. Not sure what that sauce was on the bottom of the plate. That could've been left off honestly. The bacon on top was a nice touch. The boiled egg was nice, and also a boiled egg.
Cornbread: I say 3/5, my friends say 3.9/5
- it was fine. Def more of the skillet cake type of deal. Honey butter was pleasant. The berry jam was fine, although a friend stated, "I can taste it but it has no flavor".
Porch Peach Tea: 4.4/5
- Friend enjoyed it, the statement made was, "it slaps".
Chicken Apple sausage: 4.2/5
- was fine. Not for $8 for a side of it, but this is life at the moment.
Overall, I am going to hope today was just an off day and the kitchen was slammed. I may return again, and will try something else.
Sidenote: Housemade hot sauce was decent.
