Midtown’s Southern-accented staple returned in August 2025 after a brief closure, serving beignets, shrimp and grits, and bourbon-laced brunch vibes. Covered by local news and beloved by residents, it remains a resilient community favorite.

Bryant Park Grill Sues Over Jean-Georges Takeover

"An outdoor dining space operated as part of Ark Restaurants’ park businesses, its operator’s lease for this outdoor area was set to expire immediately as part of the contested re-leasing process; it contributes to the combined park-restaurant revenues that Ark cites (about $28 million annually) and will be affected by any change in tenancy and planned renovations tied to the new award." - Chris Crowley

I took my husband to brunch for his birthday today. This place doesn’t disappoint. Amazing service, great atmosphere, and excellent food. We got the fried green tomatoes as a starter, I got the Brisket Meatloaf & eggs which also includes a biscuit and sawmill gravy, he got the shrimp & grits with a side of andouille sausage, and the mimosa package. Danny was a great server! We will definitely be back and will be bringing friends with us. When the food came it looked and smelled so good we forgot to take pictures

Google
My wife & I were here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. It was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Great service, comfortable & cozy atmosphere with food that has us looking for a reason to come back. The brunch menu had so many options...definitely something for anyone. We started with 1/2 order of beignets, with fresh fruit. Tasty & light..not too sweet. I ordered the "breakfast burger"..hearty & filling GREAT creation! My wife had the "avocado scramble" which was just enough for her. I am telling you, the menu has something for everyone. We were pleasantly surprised it wasn't crowded...I am certain it will be next time.

Thanksgiving day reservations for two-years in a row. Great food. Traditional Thanksgiving items and ordered a couple southern favorites on top. When I dont feel like cooking all day and just want to give thanks and relax.

The shrimp and grits are so yummy. The beignets were ok the first time but definitely not cooked all the way the last 2 times. (I won't order them again) also portion sizes weren't consistent.

Google
Food came cold and lacking flavor. Eggs cold. Needed salt, pepper and hot sauce. Potatoes rock hard, could not eat. Also no flavor. Toast came cold. Server never came to check on us or the quality of the food. Never refilled coffee or soda. Chicken and waffles lacked flavor. Both dry. No butter with waffle. Server never came back so we couldn't ask for some. The establishment is cute but dirty. Under the table had food I stepped on. Ew. The ledge on the wall where we sat was extremely dusty. Which is gross for a place you eat at. Would not recommend or go back.

Google
Let me start by saying we have been here before and our prior experience was better. We came for brunch. We waited about 12 min for a table even though the place was not that busy. We were OK, though. also will say that our server was super helpful and attentive. The problem and the reason for the 1 star were issues with food and the kitchen. Our order took over 40 min which was an issue with the kitchen as our server was constantly checking in us. When we got the food, the first thing was the scones were colds as ice and hollow inside. My avocado scrambled eggs was more slimy than anything else. The avocado felt as if it still had the skin on it. My wife French toasts were swimming in a liquid with an unbalanced flavor that made them uneatable. In fact, we left our plates as they are shown in the pictures as we could not eat them given the bad flavor, poor texture and overall bad experience. For the record, we pay the entire ticket and left a 18% gratuity as the server did. It has the fault for a terrible day in the kitchen. I am sorry but given this experience, I cannot recommend this place and it is unlikely I will ever go back.

Google
We were a group of 8 with no reservations. Luckily after a round of cocktails at the bar we were seated in a perfect area at the back of the restaurant. Everything about the experience was excellent. Our waiter, Nick, was a lot of fun and he knew the menu like the back of his hand. The drinks were tasty. The food was phenomenal. The Shrimp Po Boy was as good as New Orleans any day. The brisket and eggs were killer. The chicken and waffles were ridiculously great. Everyone walked away saying the brunch was one of their best. We will absolutely be back and try to make a reservation next time.❤️

Google
I'd call it southern cooking fusion. Food is well prepared. Only real complaint was the delay serving the table. First my entree came out, then a few minutes later another entree came out and then a few more minutes for the last 2 entrees to come out. Always awkward to be sitting at a table with food in front of you when none else at the table has their food.

Yelp
Really surprised the reviews aren't higher! The vibe is so cozy and was decorated so cheerfully for the holidays! Service was excellent, food was flavorful and delicious, great drink options -will be back for sure!

Yelp
I went to The Porch for brunch during Vegan Chef Month with a party of 8. This was not my first visit, but I specifically chose this restaurant because I'm vegan and expected solid vegan options for brunch. Unfortunately, the first disappointment was finding out that the vegan menu was only available for dinner, not brunch. That was never made clear. The vegan options available on the regular brunch menu were extremely limited, which was frustrating given the occasion. Once the food arrived, it went downhill from there. The vegan food was not good at all, and surprisingly, even the non-vegans in our group were unhappy with their meals. Overall, the quality of the food has noticeably gone down. I don't know if ownership or management has changed, but this is not the same Porch I remember. With a party of 8, this was not the brunch experience we expected, and it was a major disappointment. Unfortunately, I would not return.

Yelp
Went here for Saturday brunch. The food was terrible. Two of us got breakfast sandwiches on biscuits and the biscuits were inedible. On one, the eggs weren't as ordered. A friend got a benedict and hardly ate any of it. She said it wasn't good. I cannot envision going back.

Yelp
So many ups and downs at this place. We loved the Southern charm/ambiance and the attentive wait staff, but the food was kinda all over the place. Offerings - Biscuits and Gravy: Rather basic and a bit on the salty side. The biscuits were quite dense. Also, breakfast potatoes here translated to a baked potato with a bit of Parmesan on top. - Shrimp Po Boy: This was amazing and we would definitely come back for this. The shrimp was fried perfectly and we loved the cornmeal batter. Fries were good also. - Chicken and Waffles: the fried chicken was good and the quantity that came was amazing. So much food. The waffle was pretty basic and great with maple syrup. - Free Birthday Brownie: Do not even attempt to eat this. We learned that even free things come at a cost. This was a horrid, crumbly mess that had nothing going for it. No flavor, no texture at all.

Yelp
Came here to end a busy work week and get some yummy food on a rainy day! We came in for lunch and were seated right away. We were given brunch and cocktail menus along with the regular menu. It was a bit of a chilly day and the front door kept swinging open sending a chile to where we were sitting but other than that the decor was warm and cozy with farm animal paintings and statues and wood chairs. The service was great we even had some dumb questions about the Bloody Mary mix we were guessing what the ingredients were and they answered with smiles on their faces lol The shrimp po boy is great! And they were accommodating to my special requests to make the vegan bowl not vegan anymore. Overall it was a nice time out on a rainy day!

Yelp
I've been to The Porch before for a Dine Downtown and the food was much better then. Perhaps we caught them an off night, or maybe the regular chef was MIA, but they were out of half the menu items for the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge, which was the reason we came. No Hushpuppy Veggies. No Cajun Baba Ghanoush. No Vegan Gumbo. The Blackened Maitake Mushroom Pasta I ordered also had substituted ingredients and fell flat on flavor. A shame for $23. That said, the service was fantastic and so were the vegan Cajun fried beets we ordered off the regular menu. The Banana Beignets, however, were a complete letdown of dense fried dough that tasted nothing of banana. Luckily the $17 espresso martini that I confirmed was dairy-free was heavenly. While I appreciate that The Porch has vegan-friendly items and participates in the October Challenge, this was a pricey letdown. I really hope they do better next year.

Yelp
Visited The Porch for a friend's birthday and we had a great time! The front is decorated well for Christmas and all of the staff were super friendly. We shared a half order of the beignets, which are shaped like pigs! Soo cute and tasty. The fruit was fresh and we loved the mango and raspberry compote as well. I had the shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries & a porch iced tea. The shrimp was well battered and crispy and the drinks were strong and delicious. We had a great time at The Porch and I can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner and was seated right away. We ordered the grilled Brie with apples, gumbo, shrimp po boy, and skillet cornbread. Everything was delicious and flavorful except the cornbread, which was a bit dry for my liking. Service was great; our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. It's a casual restaurant and hits the spot if you're craving Southern food. I would recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the area and want something hearty and filling! Their portion sizes are large so you will definitely be full.

Yelp
Hubby and I took the day off. We were looking for a place we haven't been before to get a light brunch. We were seated after about 5 minutes, it seemed a little busy. The space was nice and they were playing light music. We ordered after scanning the menu a few times. I couldn't decide between shrimp & grits or French toast but went with the shrimp & grits with no bacon. Hubby ordered the biscuit sandwich with bacon. We also ordered three beignets. The beignets came about after 15 minutes and our food about 30 minutes. The waiter came by and let us know there was only one cook and he was working his butt off.

Yelp
We came to The Porch for my friend's birthday and I was unfortunately disappointed. I ordered the Low Country Lemonade which was probably my favorite part of the meal. It came with alai vodka, blueberries, lemon juice, simple syrup, Sprite, and muddled blueberries. I thought it was a solid cocktail. For entree, I ordered the Biscuit Sandwich with Bacon. I expected it to look a little more appetizing, however as you can see from the picture, it wasn't that at all. The biscuit was broken and the presentation just looked messy. The food was okay; the biscuit was a little dry. We also ordered the Beignets to share. They were fine, although I wished they were a little fluffier. Not sure if I'd return.
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
Ordered the Beignets which just so happened to be the best thing we tried today. I ordered the Shrimp and grits for my entree and it was pretty good, the sauce they use wasn't really to my liking but the rest of the meal was good enough to where it didn't matter too much. The worst thing about this place and is why I am giving it a 3 star rating, was the wait time. We waited for an hour to get our entrees which is just unacceptable for any establishment. Probably won't return in the future.

Yelp
Great brunch spot to kick off our Napa trip. We were able to get reservations for brunch and enjoy some night mimosas. I got the chicken and waffles and they were kind to accommodate wanting more of a half order. Everyone else enjoyed their Benedict's and food. Service was great inside the cute shop.

Yelp
I hate to do it, but I have to do it. Let's start with the pros. Fantastic chicken and waffles, chicken was really crispy and well seasoned, delicious beignets, and I loved the cornbread. Also the service staff were all really nice and comped our appetizers because of the long wait. With that said, I won't be back anytime soon. The wait was 30 mins for a table with a reservation, food was another 45 min wait, they ran out of plates and silverware, the restaurant was LOUD, had to yell across the table, just overall wasn't a great experience. Maybe this was just Sunday brunch but I thought it'd be better. Food: 4.5/5 Service: 2.5/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Marcel's foodie score: 2.8/5
google avatar

Yelp
Went on a busy Sunday for brunch for a friends birthday. We had a reservation but still had to wait for a few. Food was decent and tasty. Really liked the avocado scramble that I ordered. Service was slow for food, and the server coming around to check on us, but could've just been super busy. Waited around for a while to run our card for the check. Decent sized place. But overall, just ok.

Yelp
I made reservations on Saturday for a party of 4 on open table for a Birthday brunch . Then my friend the "Birthday girl" invited more people. I called and the restaurant was so accommodating and understanding . We sat at a huge nice table for our party that ended up being of 9 people total . Thanks to The Porch again for being so nice . We got treated so good . Our waiter Sky was so nice and attentive. Sky did an amazing job with such a big group . Our food was amazing . I was looking forward to having the chicken but sadly I have an allergy to shellfish and I was not able to have any . I was so bummed I wish they fried them separately but I understand. I got a salad with grilled chicken which was delicious . We got a lot of appetizers to share which all were so delicious . I was not able to try the beignets either since they're fried. We had an amazing time. The service was above and beyond . The food I did try was amazing I would be back ..

Yelp
We had the best post graduation brunch/lunch experience here at Porch. Very close to downtown. Only little bummer here is the parking situation but today was Pride celebration + NO KINGS + UC Davis Commencement 2025 all at the same day and time so lots of police and closed off streets. The parking is street and metered and towards the back of the small restaurant and you pay thru the QR app by scanning the photo QR and punch in your license plate number just don't park in a marked reserved spot. The food here is southern not an extensive menu with pics but a small condensed menu with a variety of offerings for your southern palette. They have cheese Brie s , beignets, and chicken and waffles all very good and applauded by our party. Prices are not astronomically high either it was fine. Inside has open kitchen , cute little bar . They accommodate us a party of 9 for reservations next to the front door. It didn't seem too tight at all ,plenty of elbow room. I ordered the biscuits beef brisket eggs Benedict. Might sound funny but the 2 small potatoes they came with it were very tasty probably the best potato's I've ever had-covered with Parmesan crumbs and other seasoning , very good. Service was excellent they asked questions , refilled waters offered drinks. They do have a mandatory gratuity for parties of 6 or more I believe so be ready for that. Everyone loved their food here and it was a memorable lunch celebrating a graduate. Very kick back and enjoyable not loud at all, very safe area around the downtown perimeter. Porch even wrote the graduates name on the menu so it's little things and acts like that make our experience here special. The menu itself is a valid reason here to come back again not just for a special occasion . Thank you, Porch! *TIP The chicken and waffles dish is huge , they don't mess around with portions here

Yelp
The Porch is a great place to have a bite to eat, gather with friends and be merry. You can make a reservation here. When we were there, there was a big party celebrating a graduation. There was also another party celebrating a birthday. This restaurant has amazing cocktails, and delicious food. I've been a few times over the years and really enjoyed each experience. This latest experience included brunch, where we shared full beignets, ordered cocktails, and chose our bite to eat. Our server, Skye M was fantastic, giving us recommendations and communicating with us about being a bartender and a server during that time. In the past, I have been to The Porch with friends, celebrating, birthdays, and I am looking forward to the future where I can go back for a date with my husband.

Yelp
Writing this review with love and hope they'll change for the better! I loved the staff. So sweet and communicative. It was an hour and 15 min wait for our food and it was a simple order (pancakes, egg sandwiches.) We just felt so sad that it was such a long wait that we left defeated even though we liked the food. To the owner please order more staff for weekends, youre busy and I can tell your staff is spread thin.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was spot on! Chicken & waffles hit the mark, and the ham benedict with Tabasco hollandaise was delicious. Huge shoutout to our server Sky -- attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience 10/10. We'll be back!

Yelp
Nice place great menu but my order came out cold. Ever eaten cold sunny side eggs ? Well i have. I'll be back but the whole order was cold. I should have sent it back but was with friends and didn't want to make a scene.

Yelp
We stopped by for breakfast. It was our first and last time. We were seated right away as it wasn't very busy. We were given four different paper menus yet only one food menu, which we oddly had to share. Weird. They have a menu with many delicious sounding dishes. It was hard to choose. I ordered coffee and 2 egg breakfast and my spouse ordered biscuits and gravy. When we received our order it was plated nicely. However, once we both tasted our food we looked at each other and we both knew we felt the same. The food was bad. My eggs were bland with no seasoning. My plate had an odd old water smell to it which didn't help. I tried the chicken sausage and it tasted horrible and it was cold so I spit it out. The potatoes had no seasoning and had a soggy texture. The English muffin had no flavor to it either. My spouse received one plain potato and one with a spicy seasoning. Why? She said there was an odd flavor to gravy which she ultimately couldn't get the taste out of her mouth for the rest of the day. Her biscuit was not fresh it was hard. We enjoy going out for breakfast. But this was not worth the high price we paid.

Joanne I.

Yelp
Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive, only to have cold hard biscuits and waffles. It was actually disgusting and the avocado on the side was $3 even though it says $2 on the menu. The brisket was soo sweet and the potatoes were just boiled with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Super disappointed and will never return. On the flip side, the servers are soo nice and attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is super cute! Coffee was delicious, food was good. The chicken & waffles were amazing, and the honey butter was super good too. Beignets were also amazing! Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Man... This was a disappointing one. We sat ourselves at a table top in the bar. We stacked our dishes and bust what looked like three previous and moved it to the edge of the table. The payment book was still there. About 15 minutes later, a bus or came by and took the check Tab book only and none of the dishes. We arrived at 12:10 and at 2 o'clock when we left, we still did not eat. We sat for a solid hour, waiting for our food with no refills on our water and coffee. When trying to summons staff, it was impossible. There were empty tables that were completely filled after we arrived and served. Super frustrating. We had planned on this place and we're excited. Management came by after one item was served and it was old grease and burnt. The breakfast burger came out with a sloppy over scrambled egg. What's the point of a breakfast burger without the squishy goo. The poor boy sandwich came out to my chef friend that was there and she looked at it and again cooked in old Greece. Super disappointing. We were offered to have our check taken care of. It was three coffees in a two hour timeframe !

Hannah C.

Yelp
This place deserves an award for how unbelievably bad the service is. We sat down immediately, but then spent TWO HOURS staring at an empty table while servers walked past us like we didn't exist. No drinks refilled, no updates, nothing. We literally had to bus our own table because it was still dirty from the last group. That should've been our warning sign. When the food finally dragged its way out, it was ICE COLD, completely wrong, and looked like someone threw it together in the dark. It was so bad we didn't even take a bite. And the staff? Rude, dismissive, and acting like we were inconveniencing them. When we brought everything up, all we got was, "I'll take care of it." Yeah -- take care of the bill, because what else were you planning to take care of? The whole experience was a joke. This wasn't just a bad visit. This was hands-down the worst restaurant experience I have ever had anywhere. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid it at all costs.

Yelp
I came in and asked for a west coast IPA and any recommendations. She brought me a west coast by Belching Beaver! One of the best I've had! Then I ordered the southern BLT based on her recommendation. It was very ok! The fryes could of been crispier for sure. its a chill environment. Nice outside seating. the beer was like $13... WAY overpriced for the area. I paid $8 down the street for an Irish car bomb.

Victor A.

Yelp
Let me just start off with saying do not order the fried chicken plate. It seems as if the chicken was boiled and then fried because the skin was elastic and pale as if it was boiled and tasted exactly like boiled chicken as the breading crumbled off. Second, the gravy tasted like Indian food yet had no flavor, hard to explain. Service was not great either, they sat my wife and I across the bar and not once was my coffee or water refilled and we were only checked on once. We sat for 10 min waiting just to pay after letting the hostess know we wanted to pay already since we had been done with our food for over 10 minutes. Only good thing was the brisket Benedict's but I would definitely not come back. An to top it all of the chicken alone was $30!! For southern food I expected a lot more from them.

Billie W.

Yelp
First thing was, it was Thanksgiving and they were busy. But they got us in pretty quick. The food was pretty dang good. I would have to give it two thumbs up. I had the meatloaf brisk was the best. We were even sat at the bar and had the greatest meal. Even watched the game.

Yelp
This restaurant is my all-time favorite to go for brunch. I would recommend always making reservations if you want to come here this restaurant gets really really busy that is always kind of meh but food is great. The breakfast cocktail is always hit. The atmosphere is always loud and friendly with a bunch of people that come here with friends and family feels like a family establishment so it's a nice vibe. This place is awesome and I love coming here. The food is great. the service is always OK. The beverages are good is street parking but still cool

Yelp
Hands down, best Eggs Benny I have had an my entire life. The Ham Benedict may need a different name. Pimento cheese spread atop a grilled English muffin topped with ham, a fried green tomato and the absolute best hollandaise I have ever had. This was an amazing treat. I will be returning, time and time again.
google avatar

Yelp
The porch is very very good southern cooking! My girlfriend's and I had reservations on a Saturday night. It didn't seem too crowded. We started with beignets and grilled Brie. The beignets were so fluffy and fresh. The Brie was soooo good / I highly recommend adding the apples. For my entree, I got the shrimp n grits. It was interesting because it has bbq sauce on it but the sauce is spicy and savory and not too sweet, which I loved. The grits are nice and cheesy and rich which offsets the bbq sauce. I wish the bacon was precut cause you will have to cut it yourself. The shrimp is amazing. Service was great! Decor is a bit outdated, I'm not sure if they've updated the restaurant in awhile but still nice for a family outing or date night!!

Yelp
Saturday's brunch as at the Porch and while the ambiance was charming, the food was just ok. The Southern-style décor and cozy vibe was definitely a pleasant atmosphere, but the meal itself fell short. We ordered a cappuccino, which was good. The avocado scramble lacked presentation--it looked hastily thrown together and didn't do much to excite the palate. As for the pancakes, they were just okay, nothing special. The service was great and speedy, and the atmosphere is definitely a plus, but the food didn't quite match the hype I'd seen in Yelp reviews. The Porch is a nice spot if you're looking for a laid-back brunch environment, but the quality of the food could be improved.

Bill R.

Yelp
Great restaurant overall with a homey feel. I tend to come here only on Thanksgiving, as it's one of the few restaurants open. The place is small, and the front door never stops opening, letting the cold air in nonstop (why not invest in a large curtain to block the air, as they do at restaurants in San Francisco, e.g., Chow). Hence, I ate dinner wearing my winter coat. No bueno. The roasted turkey meal is $30 (I suppose that's reasonable given the holiday), but it's half white meat/half dark meat. The dark meat had inedible portions (slimy skin, hard, very dark parts (like tendons?), just stuff you would never serve your family, yet they plop it on the plate as-is for $30. Even the waiter agreed and took off a few dollars. I tried the brisket meatloaf first (to try something new), but it was nasty (not the meatloaf flavors I'm used to, and the mushroom gravy ruined it -- grainy and strange-tasting). I think next Thanksgiving, I'll buy a Lean Cuisine frozen meal and stay home. Pluses: Wait staff are friendly, but they were short-staffed, it seemed. They had a great non-alcoholic Mexican beer. The mashed potatoes and gravy were homemade and piping hot, just like I like it. The homemade biscuit, a bit doughy, was filling!

Yelp
*** Note: This is a review of the consumables, the service, staff and ambiance were great. *** Returned here with friends for brunch on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30p. It was busy, then, by the time we were seated, it started to clear out. I was excited about the biscuits and gravy...WAS excited. Items Ordered Biscuits and gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs: 2.3/5 - I am not sure what happened, or if this was just an off day. The biscuits were dry, like borderline Popeyes. The gravy was not as flavorful as I remember. The bacon was alright. The eggs were eggs and I had a side pancake that was not the best. Flat, dry, with powered sugar? (To be fair, I didn't check if it actually was listed on the menu like that) Fried Green Tomatoes: 3.8/5 - these were fine. Sour, salty, good crust. Not sure what that sauce was on the bottom of the plate. That could've been left off honestly. The bacon on top was a nice touch. The boiled egg was nice, and also a boiled egg. Cornbread: I say 3/5, my friends say 3.9/5 - it was fine. Def more of the skillet cake type of deal. Honey butter was pleasant. The berry jam was fine, although a friend stated, "I can taste it but it has no flavor". Porch Peach Tea: 4.4/5 - Friend enjoyed it, the statement made was, "it slaps". Chicken Apple sausage: 4.2/5 - was fine. Not for $8 for a side of it, but this is life at the moment. Overall, I am going to hope today was just an off day and the kitchen was slammed. I may return again, and will try something else. Sidenote: Housemade hot sauce was decent.

Yelp
I visited here after a long absence with my girlfriend. I always enjoyed the porch, plus the parking is easier than downtown Sac. First of all great drinks. Though I did not partake on this occasion. The place was pretty full around 12:30 so we ate at the bar. We were up for breakfast so I told my girlfriend I would get her some beignet's. I decided on the shrimp Po boy. The shrimp Po boy was excellent, bountiful portions of shrimp with vegetables. A great combination. The beignet's were not as good as I remembered, but still good and you get a large portion and a beautiful presentation.with plenty of fruit. My only complaint was the service. The food took way too long and the wait staff would only come if we called them. Other than that the Porch is still a good place, they just need some improvements to the service.

Remy M.

Yelp
I don't know what happened here but I've been coming here for years and the food now is overpriced and just not that good. That was not grits on any level in any region anywhere.

Yelp
The Porch was great! Went there for my birthday dinner with friends. The service was stellar. We were taken care of from the time we walked in until we left (which was after the time). They didn't say anything to us about leaving, which was really nice of them. The food was great, sizable portions, and their punch was very delicious. Also, they called ahead of time to customize the menus for my birthday, which was a very nice touch. I unfortunately left my menus, sadly.

Yelp
Tried The Porch for Father's Day. Over all a solid breakfast/ brunch place. Food: monthly special of blueberry lemon scones. Light and flaky served with fresh strawberries, pineapple and blackberries. Homemade lemon icing on top of the scones. We had the mushroom melt, brisket biscuit Benedict's and a bacon scramble biscuit sandwich. The mushroom melt was ok. Had 3 slices of avocado and mushrooms had great flavor. The two slices of toast got a bit soggy. Brisket biscuit Benedict's were yummy. Bacon biscuit sandwich was good. Nothing extra special. Not worth spending the extra $4 to sub out tater tots (which were frozen) vs breakfast potatoes. Service: our wait staff was kind and came back to set expectations of how long or when our food was coming up next. We had reservations and it wasn't booked out but service was slow. Ambiance: cute small outdoor dining area but as in all areas of midtown; homeless sleeping 2 doors down. Inside was cute with dark wood interior with an old fashioned bar decorated with small whiskey barrels. Loved the mason jars with handles for ice water mugs.

Yelp
Friendly service. Delicious food. Got the biscuit sandwich. Smaller size portion but just what I was looking for. It came with potatoes and had tons of flavor. The Mac and cheese is worth every bite. This place is super busy but has nice outdoor seating if you can't get a table inside. There are also heaters so it's enjoyable on cold days.

Yelp
The drinks were good. Service was good. The southern BLT was also very good. The chicken and waffles were across-the-board disappointing. The waffle was missing some sugar and possibly a little salt too. The chicken did not taste as if it was seasoned in any way, and the batter (although nice and crunchy) lacked any kind of flavor. The fries that came with the southern BLT were awful. Under-salted and limp. The grilled chicken that came with the salad was sliced WITH the grain.... So yeah.

Yelp
The Porch is one of Sacramento's big brunch spots and it just doesn't hit the mark for me. I've been here a few times, and each visit has been underwhelming. The food often comes out cold--even when we're with a group and order at the same time, it seems like the kitchen can't quite keep up. The wait for food is usually long, which makes me think the kitchen is consistently backed up. It's not terrible by any means--the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming--but compared to other brunch spots around downtown and midtown, it doesn't quite measure up. If you're in the area and looking for brunch, I'd probably steer you somewhere else.

Yelp
We had their whiskey flight on a Friday night and the selection was versatile and worth the $! Their burger and fries were great! Meatloaf was salty. Fried tomatoes were not evenly seasoned. Our server was nice. Laid back neighborhood feel. Will come back for the whiskey flights and cocktails.

Yelp
The Porch has been my go to for years... possibly best in Sacramento imo. (Y'all know I'm very critical of sac restaurants ) The menu changes seasonally and the fried green tomatoes and beignets are to die for

Yelp
Happened to find the right pocket of time to arrive during a busy Saturday brunch hour so my party of 3 was able to be seated right away. Shelby greeted us with a smile and great vibe- if i stopped my review here it would be 5 stars just for her! We had a cup of coffee, skillet cornbread, mac n cheese, crimini mushroom melt, and the shrimp n grits. Coffee wasn't bad. Cornbread- ooohhh, great start! great texture, moist, yet a crisp on the edges. Mac n cheese - the breadcrumbs on top didn't do anything for it. pull and temp was good. flavor was lacking. supposed to be 4 cheeses, but could've used a 5th cheese. Shrimp n grits- if you like a little bbq sauce in your shrimp n grits then maybe you'll like this. Me? I wouldn't order again. Shrimp was a bit overcooked too. Mushroom Melt- unless you like the taste of bacon being fried in some old bacon grease don't waste your money. This is the first time i've had "bad" bacon. This order was a fail all around. Shelby was empathetic about our yuck face for the sandwich so she kindly credit us for the item. May try again for Shelby and some cocktails.

Yelp
The beignets were a little extra crispy and flavorless. The sauce was more sour than sweet. The saving grace was the sweet potato fries, but they were also a little extra crispy. I can't speak to the other food items, but the ones I got were underwhelming.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday with my 2 young children. We made a reservation and were seated quickly. Drinks and appetizers came out quick. Everything seemed pleasant until 20 minutes passed, 30 minutes, and finally at around the 40 minute mark-- we still hadn't been served our entrees. Our kids were cranky and everyone was hungry so we decided to leave. When we arrived around 10:15am, they weren't very busy-- but as time passed, more and more people kept going inside. I don't know if this is common practice for them, but I will wait 30 minutes MAX for food at a busy restaurant. Fortunately we weren't charged for our drinks or apps, but overall we had a very unpleasant experience. Absolutely unacceptable and poor organization.

Yelp
Been here a few times and the food is good. The first time was for brunch and there was a wait since it was during peak hour. the food was good. The second times I was here with some friends and the food was good as well. I got their version of the chicken salad, while my friends got the shrimp and grits, which was delicious. It was plenty of seating and a bar area also. Service was great as well. I would come here again for the food and scene, but parking is difficult to find, especially on weekends and expect a long wait.

Yelp
Service was great, food was delicious and was served extremely fast! The decor is pretty fabulous as well.
