Best Restaurants in New Hope, Pennsylvania | Eater Philly

"There are dozens of options inside the Ferry Market, a food hall right in the middle of town, and you should try all the pastries, coffees, gyros, and Italian specialties on offer. But the Pork Shack is the place to go for breakfast sandwiches after a night of cocktails at the nearby taverns and steakhouses. The Hungover Hog will cure whatever ails you with two fried eggs, slow-roasted pulled pork, melted cheese, and tater tots on a toasted flatbread. Plus, waffles and omelets are made-to-order all day." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Yum!!! We got the classic grilled cheese w bacon and a side of tomato bisque. Both were SO GOOD. My daughter loved it too. We will definitely be back!!

Google
One of the many spots in the Ferry Market and it’s definitely worth a try. We started with the garlic knot tots what had a strong garlic and parm flavor that went together well. The Shack Mac was good; a lighter Mac & cheese with a lot of good toppings. The Figgy Piggy sandwich was good not great. Not sure how well the fig and Brie paired with the pulled pork. It was also pretty expensive for its size.

Google
Joe was so nice and so helpful. I couldn’t decide what sandwich to get and he suggested the Figgy Piggy—a pulled pork sandwich with brie and fig jam. And I had mentioned, I never had fig jam before. But Joe gave me some to try and it was sooo tasty😆👨‍🍳 So glad I went with that sandwich it was life changing! Will definitely be back soon

Google
Stopped at the Ferry Market and ordered from The Pork Shack. Ordered the Grilled Cheese with bacon, The Rabe and the BLT tots and were extremely satisfied! Food was made fresh. The guy behind the register recommended the Rabe and it was excellent! I also ordered the Strawberry Lemonade which was also fresh. The price was right and glad we found this gem 🐷

Google
Most amazing grilled cheese I have ever had in my life. The Fancy Fig is a 10/10. The staff is amazing, so friendly and threw in tots and recommendations for a wine pairing. If you are going to ger food anywhere, get something here. You will not regret it.

Google
Popped in to the Ferry Market for a quick bite to eat, and landed at the Pork Shack... you should too! I wasn't quite sure what I was in the mood for, and without spending enough time looking at the menu (missed the Figgy Piggy special), I picked the French Pig. They had me at Gruyere... it was warm, salty, sweet exploded from caramelized onions and the exquisitely melted gruyere made each bite an absolute pleasure. The lemonade was quite nice as well! Service was sort of short, but they were busy, kind and kept the lines moving. I recommend that if pulled pork is your thing, you don't skip the Pork Shack while exploring New Hope!

Google
Very cute place the food is really good and hits the spot. The staff interaction was not so much. We came and asked to order a “grilled cheese” and add ham and the clerk tried to steer us towards a ham on rye, (fyi, no where near the same thing) then they forgot to give us our beverage and we had to ask for it. Our food came on a tray and we went to the courtyard to enjoy the day as well as the food. When I went to be courteous and return the tray, I handed it to the young man working there and said thank you.. His response “ “, nothing. I got nothing but the tray smacked on the counter to smack off any crumbs.

Google
Split the cheddar bacon sandwich with my fiancé and it was absolutely delicious. Great lunch while spending the day bopping around New Hope. Centrally located in Ferry market

Yelp
Got the pork enchiladas with Rojo sauce. It was the best rojo sauce I've ever had on enchiladas. I usually prefer mole as it has layers and depth of flavor but this rojo did not fall short it had all the layers and depth of flavor I could ever want in an enchilada sauce. Savory and the right level of heat so delicious. The pork was great too, that goes without saying & this dish came with a side of beans. Wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often.

Yelp
I stopped into the Ferry Market while strolling around New Hope on a weekend for lunch. The market had many different options of food. I really enjoyed the Figgy Piggy sandwich at the pork shack with Brie and fig jam. It was so flavorful! It was unexpectedly in a pita wrap but I enjoy that it was. I believe it was around $14 and for that price I wish it had come with fries though

Yelp
The menu touts the tater tots as gluten free and there are GF labels all over the menu. However, the owner mentioned they unfortunately share the fryer with gluten products and you shouldn't have it if you're sensitive to gluten. Celiac disease folks should be aware.

Yelp
Not a stretch to say that this is by far the best grilled cheese I have ever had. The entire menu is enticing but the fancy fig tops them all. Even better then the delicious food is the amazing staff who threw in crabby tarot tots and recommended a great Pinot Noir at the nearby by Wine Bar. Couldn't even get a good picture I was so busy enjoying!

Yelp
The options on the menu are limited but with creativity. We had Waffles & Pork since we love chicken & waffles and were curious about how it would taste with pork, instead of chicken. We were disappointed when we got our order due to the poor plating and small portion. The taste was decent and the pulled pork was braised tender. However, it's not better than the chicken version.

Yelp
We visited Peddler's Village and New Hope in December and we needed food before we headed back home. We couldn't decide what we wanted so we wandered around New Hope for about half an hour before we found Ferry Market. This place is great, but we STILL couldn't come to a consensus so the three of us ate at three different places. I stopped at The Pork Shack and had one of the greatest pork sandwiches I ever had- I got a small tomato bisque and the French pig - pork, gruyere, grilled onions, and aioli on a small soft flatbread. Im not lying here, I didn't want to finish the sandwich because it was so good...too bad it wasn't bigger. Usually when I go back to a place I liKe I try something new...but if I ever get back to The Pork Shack I'm having the same sandwich. When you find something this good there's no need to try something else.

Yelp
Great food always tastes the same have never had a bad order. All day breakfast is my favorite here. The grilled cheese and sweet potato fries are spectacular. Service is sometimes slow but very nice employees. Great location inside the ferry market. Nice sunny outdoor dining area.

Yelp
Awesome!! Lots of options on the menu and everything I've gotten has been really delicious! There seems to be new owners who appear really invested in making a great product and food prep area is super clean. The bread for grilled cheese stays buttery and crispy just like you want and the lemonade is really yummy. This is one of few places that serves sweet potato fries I have found, and they are just the way I like them -on the crispy side with a hint of salt and the perfect Sriracha dipping sauce to go with it. Definitely hit this place up. I also just realized they will serve breakfast stuff pretty much all day- eggs, waffles, etc.

Yelp
I'm a fan of the tots and their lemonade They also have fun specials on the menus. Lord of puns. Everyone there is quick and friendly too.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place for the first time. J chose a bad time because it was lunch rush time. The person at the counter had a really rude attitude where they seemed annoyed at customers even ordering. I got french onion soup. It wasn't good. The soup wasn't hot it was lukewarm. The onions weren't fully cooked and the stock was watery and oily. The side of grilled cheese it came with, looked like someone threw it on the paper platter. The cheese is cheap mozzarella and the garlic toast didn't even taste like garlic and was just greasy for no reason. I don't think I'll be coming back

Sandy K.

Yelp
I was in New Hope and wanted lunch before my matinee at the Bucks Co. Theater. Am I glad I tried The Pork Shack! Their figgy piggy special was beyond fantastic! It's a warm sandwich served on a hot pita. The stuffings are brie, pulled pork, fig relish, just a bit of barbecue sauce, and a few slices of scallions. I don't usually eat an entire sandwich, but the figgy piggy was the exception to my rule! Be sure you take extra napkins. They were needed in spite of the great job the staff did wrapping the sandwich in foil. The home-made lemonade was the perfect accompaniment to a wonderful lunch!

Yelp
Got the Cuban Sandwich and some Classic Tots and everything was Great. Loved the vibe of the stall and it seemed like both chefs were vibing and having a great time serving up their delicious food. We will be back for sure

Yelp
Located in the market ferry. Got the French Pig. Good flavored with brie instead of the gruyere cheese. A bit pricey for the small sandwich without any sides. ($14) Food was made fairly quick. Self seating anywhere in the Market Ferry.

Yelp
Don't let the name fool you, they offer more than just meat! We ordered the daily cheezer, breakfast grilled cheese and a side of tots. The daily cheezer was a variety of soft cheese, pesto, and baby tomatoes, if you like soft cheese I'd highly recommend. The breakfast grilled cheese was equally good. It came with a fried egg, classic slice of cheese, and ground sausage. Both sandwiches had a delicious crunch to them when biting into the toast which is exactly what you want on any grilled sandwich.

Amy C.

Yelp
Came here to order the almost famous and another sandwich i forget but it was just smothered with BBQ sauce, meat cheese and pickles. Asked if the soup included cream and they said they dont know...well, now i know its not homemade. The sandwiches were pretty bland for the price point.

October O.

Yelp
ordered the shack mac the people were nice and the pork and onions were good but the mac and cheese was sub par did not taste any of the "three cheeses" in the mac and cheese. the figgy piggy was fire though

Yelp
Incredible food inside the market. The French Pig might be the best thing I've ever eaten in my life.

Yelp
Excellent sandwich (had the basic pork sandwich), and the customer service was over the top - super friendly. Lots to choose from when you're in this New Hope food court - if pork is your thing, definitely find yourself standing in front of the Pork Shack.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted a quick breakfast to take back to our hotel. The afternoon before we stopped into the Ferry Market to look at the vendors. Don't let the name fool you into thinking it is just a lunch / dinner spot. The morning before we had breakfast delivered from an area breakfast place. It was good but like what always happens with delivery... it was warm and soggy from the container. With just a two minute walk there and back we had a delicious sweet and savory breakfast. We shared the breakfast tots (tater tots w/ porkroll, 2 over easy eggs, cheese, green onion & sriracha) and daily special of waffles with strawberry jam and Brie that came like a sandwich. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Lastly the server was really helpful discussing the menu with us because everything sounded so good. I'd definitely come back here. There are outside tables to enjoy but in the covid world we opted to take everything back to our room.

Yelp
On a sandwich craving when we stumbled across this gem. My partner had the Figgy Piggy, which was amazing, though a touch sweet for me. I had the Rabe, and it was perfect. I know we'll be back on our next New Hope adventure!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is delicious...the tots are crispy perfection! Owner/chef & staff amazing. Go to there.

Yelp
Pulled pork and perfect tater tots! What??!! Am I in heaven? The pork is succulent and melts in your mouth. The "Slop Tots" are pure pleasure: pork, tot, sriracha, and green onions... I would eat this at every meal if I wasnt certain it would kill me within the year. Pork Shack is for slurping and moaning with each bite... perfect for a second date.

Yelp
Almost famous pork sandwich was worth the drive up to New Hope from Philly. Pork was delicious and flavorful, pita that it comes on is crisp and holds all the cheese and onions in place. Cheesy tots weren't so bad either!

Andrew K.

Yelp
Walked around New Hope and so happy I chose The Pork Shack for lunch. They had a special "The Figgy Piggy", pulled pork, fig spread, and Brie cheese.. I apologize to the people sitting near me for the noises I made while eating that thing! The flat bread was the perfect vessel and the strawberry lemonade washed it all down.

Yelp
I loved being able to stop somewhere to get a bite to eat in New Hope and sit outside while not paying out the nose. Being able to just have food cooked quickly and then have the meal and amount of time take as long as WE wanted was lovely. The prices were not cheap by any other standard than that of New Hope restaurant standards... I ordered the fatty patty melt burger on grilled cheese with pickles, onions and ketchup and a side order of sweet potato fries. The burger was solid, but the fries were both a bit undercooked, and just not sweet. I feel like the sweetness thing can be hit or miss with sweet potato fries, which I'm not sure there's a whole heck of a lot a restaurant can necessarily do if a load of fries came from potatoes that weren't ripe enough or just not all that sweet. The dipping sauce was nice though. Service was extremely friendly and fairly fast. I'd definitely grab a sandwich here again instead of a longer/more expensive sit down option!

Yelp
In a time where zero indoor dining is allowed and it's a Monday, when other restaurants are closed, this is the place to go. After a run on the canal, a pork sandwich wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but the opportunity presented itself. I ordered the Almost Famous- generous amount of pork and the salty pita it came in was awesome. (The red onions are large chunks, not chopped). I don't care for BBQ sauce so this place hits the mark. Also ordered the Rueben (which needs to be added to menu bc it's so good). For the price, a few tater tots thrown in would kick butt. We got the food to go and sat on the ground by the canal. It was 50 degrees and sunny. Think outside the box on how/where to eat now.

Yelp
The price was overwhelming and the food was underwhelming. The mac and cheese balls were small, the pork tots were bland, but the staff was very friendly. We're actually eating at a diner shortly afterward to compensate because we felt so dissatisfied over the portion size.
google avatar

Ashley R.

Yelp
$14 for canned crab in over cooked mushy Mac and cheese. Also, the service is almost always terrible. I only gave it one star because you can't leave a no-star review.

Yelp
This place is absolute garbage! Multiple times I have went to the porkshack hoping that the experience that I had would be better than the last but sadly that's never been the case. One day I went me and other colleagues waited 20 minutes before we asked the man behind the counter where are food was. He told us that the fryer was just turned on so we would have to wait another 15 minutes before we received our food. Other times they have messed up my order completely and I've left with the wrong food. Every time you order from there the meal is inconsistent and very underwhelming. If youre going to charge 15 dollars, which is starkly overpriced for tatertots and cheap meat, you think it would at least be met with an extremely satisfying experience but that too like the food is lack luster at best.

Camryn B.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this place, but we were extremely underwhelmed. The pork was dry and flavorless. Beyond bland. I understand they don't add sauce to it, but you would expect it to at least be juicy. On top of that, I'm pretty sure we have minor food poisoning. Both my boyfriend and I felt sick after we got home. It was the only thing we ate in the afternoon that could have caused this. We're honestly concerned with how fresh their food was. Just a heads up.

JM G.

Yelp
The Most Amazing Pork Sandwich Ever! I had the pork rabe sandwich, on rolled pita bread with melted provolone, broccoli rabe and home made aioli. It was amazing... loved the pork, very moist and the combination of flavors came together perfectly. We had a 2 hour drive home and the sandwich tasted great when we got home, the foil even kept the sandwich warm.

Dave D.

Yelp
The food is dope. It tasted good. Would recommend the tots. The people their are so nice and the service is very good

Yelp
So insanely delicious!! I got "The Rabe" and my husband got the "almost famous". There's nothing like it around! We were so tired of the same old thing everywhere you go.. and this was so awesome! The lemonade was a topper... it makes you feel like you're back at the boardwalk. We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
One of my tip top favorite places in New Hope now and forever. Absolutely delicious food I have to resist eating three times a day, friendly service, owners are truly wonderful people always willing to accommodate special requests with kindness and a sense of humor. I cannot understand why anyone would ever complain about this place, it is a treasure! My mouth is watering just thinking about my next meal there in fact...

Melissa A.

Yelp
Don't waste your 14$ on the completely underwhelming, flavorless brisket. I'm only giving one star for the service.

Graham P.

Yelp
Just the best. I want to be buried with their Huevos Tot-cheros. Super friendly staff, great comfort food, and already a real staple of New Hope. The Pork Shack has heart. Not a frequent reviewer on this site, but what I like enough to comment on, I love.
