The Port of Peri Peri

This is one of those places where the score is way too low for the actual amazing taste and quality of the food they serve!!! I’ve had the lemon & herb, medium, hot, and extra hot chicken here and they were all great! The cassava fries are also amazing especially dipped in their white garlic sauce! And the corn on the cob is also great. This place is definitely more delicious than Nando’s. Came here two days in a row and both times were excellent!

Very unprofessional and disappointing experience. We tried calling several times ahead of our visit to make a reservation, but no one answered. Despite that, we made the drive from San Diego, trusting the listed hours. When we arrived, there was still over an hour left before closing. Yet we were told they would not serve us. No clear explanation, no apology — just a blunt refusal. What made it worse was the attitude of the attendant. The interaction felt dismissive and rude, with no effort to accommodate or even show basic courtesy. After driving that far, this was incredibly frustrating. If business hours are flexible at their convenience and guests are turned away without consideration, it’s not a place we can recommend.

Had the spicy peri peri chicken which was definitely sweaty spicy esp if you add more of the red sauce. The white garlic sauce is great too. Nice yellow rice that comes with it. Generous size for about $18.

Restaurant is very clean and the staff is very nice. We tried the beef ribs, brisket plate, chicken quarters, corn and fries. All of them were really good, if you like spicy food definitely pick the “hot” option. I think it’s the perfect level of heat for spicy lovers. The ribs were big for beef ribs which was great and the brisket special was huge. Easily shareable with someone. And the chicken was very well cooked, bone sliding out tender. Definitely a great place to recommend, especially if your halal only and want to try something different.

Came here with a friend and it was super empty so we could choose to sit anywhere! Good: - I really like the sauces here, especially over the special rice here - I like the corn cheese here a ton; it goes well with the rice, too - Prices are good here! Very affordable and good portions - Tons of seating, and variety on the menu Bad: - Very very casual, not very attentive staff; self-seating Overall this place was good for a quick catchup with a friend! It's super easy to get to location wise, and there's more on the menu I'd want to try next.

Flame kissed whole chicken with some spicy bomb sauce. If you enjoy the heat they have the sauce. Got the rice and potatoes salads to cool down the spices.

Honestly, one of the most frustrating dining experiences we’ve had. The three of us drove all the way from San Diego, and we even tried calling ahead multiple times to confirm and reserve no one picked up. We decided to go anyway because the posted hours clearly showed they were still open. When we arrived, there was more than an hour left before closing. Instead of welcoming us, we were simply told they wouldn’t serve us. No proper explanation. No apology. Just “no.” The attitude we received made it even worse. It felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude, as if our time didn’t matter at all. If a place doesn’t honor its own hours and treats guests this way, it’s hard to trust them. Definitely not somewhere we’d plan to visit again.

This review was painful as I enjoy the food from this chain so much. I frequent the Fremont location and am always raving about the food to my friends. I’m chalking this experience up to a new location and new staff, but I was extremely disappointed to say the least. I always had a feeling that online/pre-paid orders get subpar treatment but this solidified my belief. I traveled over 2hrs for this food from Sacramento and was hosting 10 people over, and this was our dinner. I ordered 2 large family platters, another half chicken, and an extra side of rice. For reference, this is 4 whole chickens, and 9 large sides. When I was grabbing the food I asked the server for more sauce, and he was arguing with me that I already had some. Extra sauce on a $200 order didn’t seem like an unreasonable request. Grudgingly, he gave me more. In terms of taste, the lemon and herb chicken was fine, but the mild chicken had no seasoning/sauce on it, which was more than half the order. Again, it appeared that this order was taken care of in a careless manner. The cassava fries were overcooked and burned, which left no flesh inside and it was so dry that it was very tough to eat. The size of the sides, appeared to be the size of small portions, as it was in smaller plastic containers. I have ordered from Fremont Peri Peri before, and it was halved compared to then. I felt ashamed when I had guests over and this was the dinner I was serving them. I’m hoping this experience never happens to anyone again, but I had to share what happened with me.

Everything at The Port of Peri Peri is so flavorful. Great casual spot for small groups and seems to be super popular for takeout. Food comes out fairly quickly and tastes super fresh and hot! recs: cassava fries, chicken leg/thigh price: ~$13/person - Perifried Corn: Extremely tangy and seasoned fried corn. Texture was perfect but was maybe a tad bit too tangy for me. So generously seasoned but maybe a tad less seasoning would be perfect (but balances well with the white sauce) - 1/4 Chicken Leg/Thigh: My friend called this the best chicken he's had in a long while. Super well-seasoned and juicy throughout. We got this with mixed lemon + medium spice. - Cassava Fries: Comes with six piping hot pieces and is seasoned perfectly. Tasted great with the red sauce! Both of us left satisfied and full, and the price was reasonable for the generous portions we received when dining in!

A true sleeper hit! An unassuming barebones counter service shop on a rather bleh block near the ballpark and Caltrain. But man, do they serve up some delicious chicken! 1/2 Chicken - Hot: Kinda reminds me of tandoori chicken in the way that the chicken is served in big connected pieces and cut in strategically thick parts of the meat. But it is totally serving up some Peri Peri realness with that sauce. It's got a lot of great flavors, not just chilis. And the hot does pack a punch. I really like the creamy garlic sauce offered on the side, a truly perfect pairing. Peri Casava Fries: The chicken doesn't come with sides, so you have to order them à la carte. The casava fries seemed the most interesting... and they were! Thick and crispy on the outside, with a soft pasty center. Way better than thick potato fries. Plus they have this great spicy salty and slightly sweet dusting. Also amazing when dipping in that garlic cream sauce.

Great spot for some peri peri chicken! I love being able to customize the sauce for each chicken so I can try different flavors - I combined the medium level spice with lemon and herb and it was such a tasty sauce I recommend the chicken leg and thigh for some tender goodness. Don't forget to try some delicious sides and small bites like the peri peppers and perimayo corn. There's a lot of flavor in every bite. They have some tables for dine in but most people I saw did take out!

When I saw this place I immediately thought of the good experiences I've had at Nando's in the UK which is a chain that's famous for their peri peri chicken. However this place is no Nandos! The flavor of the peri peri is off and not authentic. I had to cover the chicken in a ranch sauce to add flavor. The peri mayo corn was also a gooey mush. The chicken itself was well cooked so keeping the 3 stars but without the promised flavors this experience was definitely a miss!

Ordered thru doordash and enjoyed what we got! Lemon & herbs and Cajun peri were both good! Next time we'll try their beef burrito since they accidentally gave us chicken instead lol

Picked up 2 orders of 1/4 pound chicken thigh since they had a buy one get one on Ubereats at the time. We got 1 "hot" and the other "cajun hot" but they put both in the same box so it was hard to tell if there was any difference. It was extremely spicy though, which we do like but I'll probably go a little lower in spice preference next time. Pickup process was quite easy and quick.

I'm a huge fan Nando's so I was super excited to check this place out. The chicken was decent but not quite as good as Nando's but still similar enough and satisfies the craving in a pinch. The corn and rice were ok.

The Port of Peri Peri is located right around the corner from Oracle! With more than 20 locations around the US, The Port of Peri Peri is grilling up the most tender chicken, ribs & brisket with flavorful sauces, sides & more! The Signature Chicken, Peri Peppers, PeriMayo Corn & Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese egg tarts) were my absolute favorites!

Rule one of hospitality and service: do not EVER clean when a guest is in your common areas. Cleaning is like sound in movies, if it's good you won't even notice.. but if it's bad oh you certainly will. Now, there are some unavoidable circumstances and industries in which this may happen -- a restaurant that is stacked with tables an entire night, hotels, 24/7 diners, theme parks, an accidental spill at a hot dog stand, or the bathroom looks like a war on plumbing just happened. Cleaning gracefully is just a part of the business (see swan towel animals, friendly cleaning crews, and Disney grounds crew painting with their brooms), and I respect that. All I'm gonna say is, that circumstance is not 30 minutes before you close on a Friday night in the middle of a heat wave in San Francisco. Also, wash your hands fully after you clean and don't just use a wet wipe and switch gloves to handle food, please. Anyways, I originally ordered the carné burger and learned that they did not have it available after they checked their stock (was still on menu). I then took a moment to think and decided on the Vegan Burger and a melon ramune. Ambience was quite loud and is a bit difficult to hear. I went ahead, ordered for takeout, and sat down at one of the tables, where across from me a patron was still eating and enjoying his meal. So, I didn't think anything of it all at first. However after he leaves, the front of house host starts cleaning up after the guest, seems normal... then he starts stacking the chairs -- loudly. First on directly the other side of me, now it's been a few minutes so I may have assumed they're just finishing up my order and will close early, but then he starts stacking them on my side. I get up, he tells me I can sit down again, I said it was fine -- in my head the message was sent and received, you want to close. He then waited a minute before loudly stacking the chairs on the table. I stood near the cash register so I could quickly get my food and leave, but then he asked me to move so he can sweep the area I was standing on. At that point, I then went and stood at the edge of the entrance. A couple minutes later he comes up to me after cleaning, and gives me my food without a word, I apologized to HIM and then left. You close at 11:00 pm, it was 10:40 pm when I left. I did not come in five minutes before you close. Now, for the food: the brioche bun is good, the dressings are solid, but sadly the main event, aka the beyond patty -- was mostly burnt. The best part of this meal may be the Ramuné. Now, there were some good bites of the burger, but they were overpowered by the crunch of burnt patty. There were burnt parts of the patty cracking and falling off the burger. I paid for it so I ate it, but I did not enjoy it. My entire meal? Was $24. Wow. Even for SF, that is greedily high. Also $2 to add a mediocre slice of cheese? We have restaurants that add bacon or avocado for $1.39. The whole experience was poor, from the service, to the pricing, to the ambience, to the food. Overall, it's sad that The Port of Peri Peri cannot match to Zaika, its authentic Indian predecessor that sat at this location. Mission Bay does not need another heartless chain as a tenant draining the soul of the neighborhood. First and last time here by choice.

We sampled the chicken, wings, and rice, and everything was tasty. The chicken was tender, the rice well-seasoned, and we recommend trying the white sauce. The restaurant is casual, and the staff is friendly. If you're in the mood for flavorful food, Port of Peri Peri is the place to be. Can't wait to return!

Conveniently right next to the ballpark. My husband and I came for lunch and ordered the whole chicken with slaw, potato salad and rice. Wow! The flavors were amazing and the portions, huge! The customer service was on point and will definitely come back again.

I was super excited to hear that The Port of Peri Peri was coming to San Francisco especially so close to my office because there aren't many halal options near Soma. I ordered the chicken and rice bowl with Medium heat. This picture doesn't do the portion size justice, it came with 4 tenders and a big bowl of rice. Service was great, our server Z told us we were the first customers to dine in and he brought us a large bowl of their peri-mayo corn. The location is right across from the ballpark so it's a busy area, even in the middle of the day when there are no games so plan accordingly for parking. We found street parking a block over. All around a good experience, the restaurant is small so don't miss it when you pass by!

Very tasty new place. It just tastes like really hot Buffalo chicken. I tried out the breast and wings spicy, chicken tenders and rice extra hot, paneer hot, and peri-mayo corn. Extra hot doesn't taste much different from spicy, but it did make my nose run. I do like that the offer extra bottles of hot sauce and garlic sauce if you eat in, so I was always reaching for it. I wouldn't recommend the chicken tenders over rice. It was just very dry, and the rice didn't have much flavor, but they do give you a lot. My favorite dish would probably be the peri-mayo corn and paneer. I couldn't really tell if there was mayo in the corn, but a few extra dashes of the peri sauce and garlic sauce spruced it right up. And the paneer was nice and rich, just the right texture. The chicken breast and wing was also good, much more moist on the bone. But it does feel a bit expensive since that's all it comes with for $10. This is a tasty new addition to the neighborhood.

The chicken is mouthwatering, delicious, a perfection of spices in your mouth. Wow!!!! I was very much impressed by their burrito and the pita wrap is soft and juicy! This place is all about the food. The spicy sauce and the garlic sauce on the side is extra and loaded with flavor. Come on in and order some good delicious food in this hole in the wall location. lThe owner truly cares about the quality of food he provides and he will Go above and beyond to ensure you're satisfied. Love in each bite and good service to match. Not much in the ambiance category but that's OK because the Ballpark is nearby and you can just take it to go and sit by the water. Yummy for your tummy!

Clean space, fast service, pretty spicy food even when you order mild. If you're in a mood for spicy chicken - probably worth to try. They have several vegetarian options too. This place is more like an eatery. Good for fast snack before or after the baseball game or for take aways.

I love the food at The Port of Peri Peri. It always tastes fresh and authentic. My favorite items are the lemon and herb leg and thigh and the brisket burger. They're very flavorful and tasty. The peri peri fries are also delicious. I would def recommend this place to anyone looking for a new place to try or if you want to add some spice to your life! It's clean, cute and the customer service is great!

Came here after a show at the Midway and was a bit underwhelmed by the food. I got the chicken and rice bowl which was basically four strips of chicken that were cooked on a grill and then tossed with sauce. The chicken was not seasoned before cooking so there the flavor was limited to the sauce on the outside. The rice portion was generous but to charge $16 for the meal seemed like a stretch. I found the chicken to be a bit dry and there wasn't anything compelling about the meal.

First enjoyed this chain in Fremont. In the absence of Nando's coming to SF, this feels like an equally good option. Really good!

The various bbq halal meats are fantastic at Peri Peri as each one felt better than the next. We started with some ribs with hot level spice which was a nice punch but totally manageable for people who like spice. Ribs were big and tender. Brisket felt like the best parts of American bbq. Melt in your mouth, luscious bits of fat mixed with a beautiful medium sauce really makes me wonder how banging the sandwich would be. Lastly we get the to the chicken, and lemme tell you don't sleep on the chicken. For a couple of legs and thighs and damn they fell off the bone as I picked them up. Juicy and flavorful are the easiest way to describe these symphony of spices gifted onto this bird. The sides: fries and corn were both great. Corn was my favorite as it felt like good sweet corn with some heat. Fries were crispy and functioned well as sauce vehicles Space was a bit small but lots of natural light and clean dining space was a nice reprieve for the afternoon

The Wife and I were staying next door at the Hyatt Place and gave them a try. I was a little worried because the place was empty, but there were 2 Uber Eats orders sitting, waiting for pickup. We ordered the chicken and rice bowl plus a Carne Burger. Both tasted fantastic. Whatever that sauce is that they put on the burger makes it a bit messy, but it tastes fantastic. I ordered medium spicy on both and they were almost too spicy for me. Next time I will say mild.

Pretty good Portuguese restaurant right next to the ball park. The brisket was charred to perfection and the chicken juicy. Not a fan of the ribs as they were hard to eat and not tender. They put peri peri sauce on almost everything so maybe ask for it on the side so you can use to your hearts desire.

I really don't want to write this review for fear of this place blowing up especially before/after Giants games, but they deserve it. These guys make really juicy, really flavorful chicken, reasonably quickly, at a good enough price point (superb for where they are). Guessing they will be around to stay for a long, long time.

the chicken was halal and delicious! The sauces too! Service was friendly and fast. It's a nice spot to sit n people watch since the stadium is close by, easy to find parking.

Really enjoyed the flavor of the quarter chicken with medium sauce. Steamed veggies were as expected. Service was very friendly. It was not nearly enough food though. At these prices, I won't be back for lunch unless someone else is buying

My husband and I were searching for a quick bite after a home Giants game and walked by this location. A very kind man suggested we try this restaurant specifically for their excellent chicken. Sure, why not? After some menu review with this nice man, we decided on the chicken and rice bowl with mild heat. When I tell you this was some of the best chicken I've ever had, I am not lying. The rice was an excellent addition! For those not used to heat, beware even the mild is spicy. I got a side of the hot and it was soo good but . Prices are reasonable. Portions are great. Service is superb. They have some seats inside if you want to dine in or offer to-go containers. Highly recommend if you're looking for excellent food!

So glad this is in San Francisco. The chicken always taste excellent and very fresh. Great location and parking for easy pickup. Service is really quick as well.

Food was excellent. Chicken was juicy and tender. Corn dish was amazing. The service was great. They are super friendly and helpful with navigating the menu.
