When I first moved to Louisville, I asked one of my wife's friends what their favorite pizza places are. After rattling off a few, they said "oh there's this place off Goss called the Post. You gotta check that out." It took a few years, but I finally did once we moved to Germantown. I've gotten slices, personal pizzas, and even split a few Gluten Free pizzas --- all have been excellent.
The Post is a destination. It's a draw for people from all over Louisville, and is consistently pretty busy inside. While a lot of people do order takeout, the building itself is a unique experience. This pizza spot is in a former VFW Hall, and there are signs and pictures all around dedicated to its history.
Every pizza I've had has been delicious --- Allies, New Colussus, Italian Campaign, and your basic cheese. I've also had a few awesome slices of the day, which are very filling. There's a good beer and drink selection and the prices are not bad. There are also TV's all around, so if you want to watch some football or basketball, this is a good spot to settle in.
This place lives up to the hype in my opinion. Just keep in mind, when you walk inside, the building looks cramped and full at first. Don't let that intimidate you. You can usually find a spot if you look down in the bar area, or in the back. And if you can't, a spot will open up shortly because service does move pretty quickly. It's worth the wait.
