The Potato

Pleasantly surprised to find such a great restaurant in a tiny mountain town! So good we went twice - everything tasted great but my favorite was the salmon special. The salmon was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and tender meat, and the combination of sauces/rice/veg made it an outstanding dish. Only thing I wouldn’t order again are the fries but personally I don’t love shoestring fries. It gets very busy during peak hours but service is quick and great. Must-visit for anyone in the area.

Walked in without any previous reservations and was greeted like family, felt like I was one resident of this breathtaking small beautiful town, Scott was our server, excellent hospitality and service! He was kind, friendly just like a buddy! Thanks for that, now the food, WAS AMAZING, Tasty, delicious, fresh, beautifully presented, 10000% recommended and price wise I believe is very appropriate

Food and service were amazing. They were SLAMMED running there butts off and the service was still 10/10. We had the Mac added carnitas (massive portion of meat) and the rib special and it was delicious. Highly recommend a visit.

My husband and I visited McCarthy for the first time and due to the small size of the town and its geographic location, we expected poor food and restaurant options (we're from Los Angeles so our standards for restaurants are pretty high). However, we were shocked by the menu and food quality! We ordered the salmon and Chugach cheesesteak with a miso salad and hand-cut curly fries. Everything was delicious. My husband doesn't like salads very much and he usually dislikes any miso or Asian-flavored salads, but he ate more than half of mine because it was so good! Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. There was also a great beer and wine list to pair. When traveling we try not to go back to the same restaurant twice so we can try a variety of places, but we had to make an exception for this one and ended up back here for breakfast! Again, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor of the food. We ordered the hummus wrap (I saved half for lunch) and the potatohead burrito, both were very delicious. The coffee and tea were also excellent (and I am a self-proclaimed tea snob). On top of the great tasting food, we enjoyed the surrounding natural environment and chill vibe. The service was also stellar.

We had lunch here after hearing about it on a podcast, and it was great! The menu had lots of good options - it was hard to decide. We liked everything we ordered. The garlic rosemary fries were great, but if you don't love garlic they're not for you! Go for the regular curly fries. The building was really nice, loved the atmosphere. Our server was really nice and friendly.

For how absolutely remote and removed this restaurant is from everything, it’s very good food for a very good price. I had the Potatohead Burrito with Chorizo (🔥), and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. We got normal and garlic/rosemary fries to try both. It was all great, well priced, and the service was phenomenal as well. A must-stop in McCarthy.

Fast freindly service. Had soup, fries. and the Bonanza burger. Burger was fantastic, lots of flavor. Curly fries were hot and crisp. Glad we stopped here.

The owners have really worked hard to make this a quaint Alaskan experience. The small details of flowers all over give it a great touch. Not to mention the burger and rosemary/garlic fries were outstanding. The service was quick and friendly. The dogs that frequent the establishment are super friendly and loveable! Great stop.
