We recently rediscovered The Purple Elephant and are glad we did. The atmosphere is cozy, the service attentive and prices are quite reasonable. The food is of the highest quality and taste with a menu that has loads of vegetarian and vegan options along with non-vegetarian ones as well. If you are gluten free, there’s plenty to choose from as well. The prices are very good for the area and quality. This will likely become one of our new favorite places in 2026.

Amazing place to grab a bite. The pics are just apps. Also got tacos and a sandwich. So many vegan and gluten free options. I don’t have any allergies- but I’ll eat good food ;) and their huckleberry lemonade is refreshing. Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining. Friendly and fast staff.

Super cute place by the water. Came here with a friend but did what to expect as it seems like it's mostly vegetarian dishes but was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed the nachos and the shrimp with guac on plantains. Decor is pretty eclectic. Owner was very nice and staff were great. Will come by again next time we're in town.

The purple elephant It offers a gastronomic experience based on the Spanish tropical concept, from its delicious fried yuca to burritos that deliver protein from start to finish. It has a wide variety of drinks, including horchata! And its dessert menu features a delicious and traditional rice pudding "arroz con leche" Its charming terrace, overlooking the bay and the boats, provides the perfect touch for a comfortable and atmospheric afternoon.

If you are GF/vegan and love Nachos, the "Most Excellent Nachos" are the best I have ever had, and they truly are most excellent. I loved the hearty homemade tortillas. It is listed as an appetizer, but I ordered it with guacamole, and it was enough for two meals! The guacamole was not overly spicy, which I prefer. I went to this spot a few times on a visit to LI, and it did not disappoint. It's a little pricey but worth it for the high quality. I appreciated that they were open on NYE and New Year's Day. Supremely filling and tasty. I will be back, as the menu covers multiple food styles (Thai, American, Latin, Sushi, etc.) and offers so many vegan and GF options. Highly recommended for filling, tasty and healthy food.

Amazing vegan food! I have been to so many vegan restaurants in Long Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, LA and this is def top 5 of my all time favorite. The food is delicious, the server was very kind and accommodating with our 6 month old in a stroller. You can eat outside in the back patio where you can see a beautiful view or inside with good Cold AC. Bathroom was super clean. I loved the decoration on the walls and the vibe was very relaxed. People were very relaxed and casual as well. I felt super comfortable and the staff were smiling and very friendly. The vegan food in the pictures were all 5/5 stars! Can’t recommend this place enough. The cons: parking is limited and have sign for some spots that are limited only to 45 minutes. I ignored the time limit and was fine. Proceed at your own risk.

First time dining at The Purple Elephant yesterday, and was not disappointed!! The atmosphere is so warm and cozy. The Pollo Magnifico was just that, magnificent! And the portions so large. Lucky me, I get to enjoy it all over again tonight, as leftovers. Can't wait to return....😋

I was in the area & excited to try this place for dinner. Our first waiter didn’t know how to answer our questions & wasn’t informative at all. Thank goodness another server took his place since we asked for more time with the menu. 🦋 inside & outside dining available 🦋 loved the ambience & atmosphere, great decor throughout the restaurant, definitely loved the vibes. Outside patio faces the marina, very nice. Very picturesque, & Instagramable location 🦋I tried the horchata (I’ve had better) and one of the house specials: the porch swing (very sweet) 🦋 Thai elephant wings were good (but mid way felt very heavy, greasy , & it didn’t make me feel good) 🦋I wanted to try the burrito, but they said it’s only available at lunch time… 🦋 creamy pesto pasta…way beyond tasteless…oh my felt like it was fake pesto flavor and mostly pasta…that dish needs to be reevaluated & made with love or something…so dissatisfying 🦋 my friend got the beef tacos…& she was dissatisfied as well…she said the meat was over cooked & she couldn’t finish it.. Overall loved the ambiance & atmosphere…but the food looked good…but the quality & taste wise…Not really

I love this place!!! We don't have an overwhelming amount of options for healthy food on Long Island and this place has both vegan and non vegan options. Everything is so clean and made so well with care and intention. I've had a lot of things off the menu, but I just had the asada burrito for the first time, flautas and my husband got the grain bowl. So satisfying and delicious !!

I had heard from many people that The Purple Elephant is a great restaurant with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Couldn't wait to go. It absolutely lived up to its great reputation. I love the ambiance; it felt like visiting a friend's home, rather than just another restaurant. The food was incredibly good. It's really hard to find good vegan options when going out to eat on Long Island, and this menu had so many choices. My family eats meat, and they all found great options too. In addition to the best food that I've had in a long time, the service was excellent. Staff was warm and welcoming, food was out in no time, and they were attentive through the entire experience. I highly recommend the pasta with pesto and "chicken." The nachos were a great appetizer that my entire family enjoyed. Drinks were yummy too. I can't wait to go back!

Between the food and service the experience was worth every penny for this hidden gem. Came here with my son for a nice lunch and we were seated immediately. Food came out quick and the waiter was very sweet and accommodating to my picky 5 year old eater. I love that their menu has so many healthy alternatives. Looking forward to the next lunch date

The purple elephant continues to be a great choice for lunch. Surfers bowl with curry is always delicious.

Impatient waiter, horrific food and food poisoning... Won't recommend this restaurant if they paid me. Six unhappy diners, alot of uneaten food at a high price

Top notch!! Phenomenal service! Was with a very large party and our server was amazing. Food is out of this world. I had the nachos and for dessert the dark chocolate avocado mousse. CHEFS KISS!! Can't wait to go back and try more!! Super cute decor!

Vegan and healthy options available. What drew us in is the amazing view of the marina! Be sure to ask for outdoor seating. Everything smelled and looked amazing and to top that a very friendly staff! Try their most excellent nachos with their home-made crispy corn tortilla chips. Try the taco truck and get the best tacos in northport! Cant wait to try the rest of this menu I will definitely be back

PERFECT view, WONDERFUL food, GREAT service... What more could you possibly want?? That they open another location here in Ohiooooo, YES!!! Delicious, creative mix of Asian and L. American choices, definitely something for everyone, PLENTY of veg/meat options!! We shared the yuca fries with curtido, my sister had a Nicoya o'boya wrap, I had a rayong curry bowl, and my friend had a sweet potato vegan bowl. Service was great, EVERYTHING was delicious, and I wish I could go back again tomorrow!! Wonderful choice in the Huntington/Northport area!!!

I've always driven past this restaurant and was so glad to have tried it! The decor is so cute outside and it's right on the water which makes it such a pretty place for lunch or dinner! The food came quickly and was really good overall! The cauliflower app was delicious and so were the entrees. I think some of the flavors tasted kinda similar across the different options but it was still enjoyable overall!

Service was amazing. Food was better than amazing. The cauliflower bites outstanding. Good prices as well.

The view is gorgeous. Food was delicious; whole and clean. We ate there in the evening on a Friday, it was busy but didn't wait long for a table. I'd definitely go back.

The food and service were overall good. I remember the Buffalo cauliflower bites being great and drinks were also good. Really enjoyed the yucca fries and coconut shrimp as well

This place was a really great find. It's a fun spot for vegan or vegetarian people, as well as a good option for anyone who is GF. And if you aren't any of these things, you can still visit and enjoy their unique menu! My friend and I split a few menu items including the "Pork" Tacos and finished the meal with the delicious Sweet Plantains for dessert. For someone who typically orders real pork, the "pork" in the tacos was different but in a tasty way! Just try it! Seating wise, the back of the restaurant is situated in a cool dock alcove area where you have a nice view of the boat yard and water from a balcony. Great for a nice day if you want some fresh air. It seemed to get pretty crowded around dinner time so I would recommend making a reservation. The service flow was a little slow, not sure if it was the day or the crowd but if you're not in a rush then just enjoy the view.

Great option for vegetarian and vegan friendly food. They even have vegan wings! The gonzo bowl is delicious and makes it fun to eat a nice big serving of vegetables. This place is well known for its delicious food. The Purple Elephant is a must try gem right by the water. It's always very busy for a reason.

Great music! Fun decor. Nice ambiance. I'm not vegan but found options. The salmon was tasty the chicken Parmesan was a huge portion! Our waiter was fantastic with his million dollar smile!

Great food at Purple Elephant, whether you eat meat or not. Takeout orders one night we're accurate and beautifully presented. The next night, in the restaurant and dinner was again delicious and plated well. Service was great, as was ambiance. A must visit if you're in the Northport area.

The food is excellent! I had the pollo magnifico and it was delicious! The service was fantastic and the ambience was very energetic!! I hope to come back here again someday!!

The view is great, seriously look at the pictures and accommodating to be outside in the winter Great place if you have a vegan friend and a meat eater with dishes you both can share . Didn't get pictures of the nachos but they were great and the Buffalo cauliflower was fantastic I had a vegan beef. Tacos, what you're really wonderful and this vegan burger looks fantastic shrimp tacos, look great chicken burritos, they had steak and chicken on the menu. I have to tell you for a small restaurant the food was outstanding for a very diverse menu. The service was OK they didn't honor our reservation so we had to wait a little while and there really isn't a great place to wait. I can't imagine what waiting would be like in the winter but I would definitely return the food was that good?

Beyond delicious. I moved to LI from California and miss the healthy food options. This was a delight to find. Easily mixes healthy with just about anything while incorporating a surfer vibe in the environment. Definitely a must for lunch! The bar tender was a sweetheart and I had a pleasant conversation with her. I've been back twice and plan on going again!

I'm a genuine carnivore, but I understand people have some dietary restrictions and preferences. This place has a menu that offers a fantastic selection that doesn't make you feel like you have to compromise. Normally, a lot of places will have several vegetarian options, and a few vegan ones. This place flips the script on that notion with a lot of confidence. While I still ordered and thoroughly enjoyed my steak tacos, I was very pleasantly surprised by the cauliflower "wings" and the pulled "pork". So much that I wouldn't hesitate to have them as a meal for myself, and that's meant to be a real compliment.

Unbelievable tacos on the menu and drinks are fantastic. Tested out the restaurant with zero expectations and walked out beyond satisfied

Went here for lunch yesterday and I had a really pleasant experience. I liked the atmosphere, and the deck in the back overlooking the marina and the harbor. I really liked their lemonade and hibiscus tea drinks were delicious. I ordered their shrimp burrito which was really tasty as well as the cauliflower elephant wings.

I decided to take my 3yr granddaughter to lunch after a day trip to the farm . We had an amazing vegan lunch . I had fried oysters and yuca . She had chik'n nuggets and fried yucca . Or food was fresh , hot and flavorful. Definitely returning when I'm in NY again

Came here one night looking forward to a great vegan meal to go after a long day of work. When I walked in the girl who was working was sitting with her friend having a cocktail, looked at me, laughed and said, sorry we're closed. I said, what do you mean? The door was open and your sign says you're open for another hour... she said sorry, We're closed now, and walked me to the door. I don't care how good the food might be, rude is not worth my money.

Cool place to try different vegan/vegetarian food. I had the Buffalo cauliflower salad and it was decent like 3.5/5. The Tempeh could've used more flavor and a lil more of the sauce, the cauliflower itself was very tasty. For some reason the people seated around me were very rude to the servers, unfortunately I guess that's what money does to you. Worth a try.

Another great meal today at The Purple Elephant. My pics aren't good but the food was wonderful and satisfying. In addition to the Mac Attack with Beyond Sausage and the Gonzos Surfer Bowl, we also had the Vegan Wings (sorry, no pic). We shared the Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse, which was creamy and delicious. The service is always great. Armando is usually our server and he's friendly and attentive. The deck area is enclosed for the winter with heat, so we still felt like we were outside without being cold. So nice to not feel confined in the winter. Again, forgive the bad pics please and go eat there. There's gluten free and non-vegan food there, too.

This is such a cute place, with great food! There's something on the menu for everyone!

Oh my goodness the food menu is enticing I had the Proper Whopper. It was excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable; the service good. It is a warm cozy and inviting place.

Went for lunch on a weekday in September. Not busy at this time and I would expect that given it's a Monday afternoon in Northport and not near town. Food was delicious and I really like the set up and decor. Place is mainly vegetarian with a couple of meat options but not much so keep that in mind

The food is AMAZING!! Especially if you want something Vegan. We've been there a few times and it has a great view. However we get the same waiter every time and he's always extremely rude and has an attitude when you ask him a question about the menu or even for more water. Definitely not a child friendly environment either.

Brought my friends from out of state here for lunch, one of which is a vegetarian....so it was a very good choice and idea for lunch! Going into the parking lot is a bit confusing as there are 45 minute parking signs all throughout. I parked anyway and asked if it was okay that I was parked there. I was told it was fine. I ordered Mac Attack with beyond sausage. It was a vegan dish...but you wouldn't even be able to tell. I am not vegan but it was delish. It consisted of gluten free pasta, creamy "Cheese" Sauce, Toasted GF Breadcrumbs, Sriracha, and Jalapeños. It was super yummy and very filling. My friend who is vegetarian ordered Chifrigo. It consisted of Tico Style" Gallo Pinto, Beyond Sausage, Vegan Chili, Pico de Gallo, And Fresh White Corn Tortilla Chips. He said it was delicious and that he wishes he was able to get something like it back home in Atlanta. My other friend ordered yucca fries and a side of rice and beans. He enjoyed it. I did try some of the yucca fries and I honestly wasn't a fan. I've had yucca fries from other places that were delicious...these just weren't doing it for me. Service was mediocre. Yummy filling lunch overall!

Really liked this place. The Thai elephant wings were to die for and I am by no means a vegan or vegetarian but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The chocolate cake was out of bounds. So delicious. Definitely a unique spot

This was our first post-COVID foray into the places we missed most and I'm so glad we made it here tonight! What a special place. The food is amazing, and if you're unsure about anything just ask the wait staff! They're all really nice & super-knowledgeable-a real bonus for honest, detailed pointers that helped us make our best selections. We had the Thai Elephant Wings (OMG!), Buffalo Salad & Eggplant Parm special...all vegan & all spot on-beyond our expectations! Can't wait to come back!

Lots of good vegan options. Solidly 50% overpriced. We got a salad and an entree for $50.

I was hesitant to check this place out but now it's my jam! Lol, I Love their nachos, buffalo cauliflower, and more things I've had from there are really really good. I can't wait to go back again!

Went there for the first time and I was so excited to try it because vegan food but the food just didn't meet my expectations. Everything tasted pretty bland, not much flavor. But I might go back to try something else and hopefully I'll enjoy it better and find something more flavorful.

On the outside, this place is very cute. Right on the water too! However, the food was just okay. The fries that came with the burger were not impressive and more on the disappointing side. Cute outdoor seating!

I met up with friends this weekend & the food was delish! I ordered the elephant wings & butternut spaghetti squash. Everything was delish! The service was great, the ambiance was fun, and the prices were affordable. My only gripe is the parking- they need to expand the lot. Other than that, everything was perfection!

Most iconic vegan restaurant on long island . Everything here is tasty . I'm pretty sure it's women owned as well.

Nice place, but Northport so crowded all the time on the weekends, they have really good selections. People are friendly, not recommended for a big group.

A lot of people have mentioned this place and as a vegetarian in transition to be a vegan, this was the next stop on my list! There were so many options and they all reminded me of Latin American cuisine from tacos to empanadas. I ordered the following: 1. Vegan Wings 2. Our Most Excellent Nachos 3. Empanadas 4. Buffalo Cauliflower Salad Food: 1. Vegan Wings: amazing texture and flavor, comes with three different sauces, absolutely loved the Chipotle Mayo Sauce; would order again 2. Our Most Excellent Nachos: holy crap I didn't know nachos would taste so good, I thought nachos were a snack but Purple Elephant proved me WRONG! This is such a great order; the combination of flavors and toppings really made this dish a highlight! 3. Empanadas: I don't know what happened here but I thought the empanadas were just okay. Inside reminded me more of fried rice than the typical empanadas stuffing. A bit lacking. 4. Buffalo Cauliflower Salad: ordered this because many reviews mentioned this one. I thought it was okay. The Buffalo sauce was just a bit too intense for me. Cauliflower texture was great and loved the avocados. The tempeh was all right. Overall wasn't worth it IMO. Service: The entire staff is very nice and accommodating. Service might be a little bit slow during the lunch rush hour, but staff is super kind and it was nice to dine in. Ambiance: Loved the inside bar and the seating, but definitely wanted to go in the back outside patio where there is a nice view. Price: Not bad, but definitely a bit more pricey than average. Depends on what you order, but my entire meal came to around $64. Portion sizes don't really equal the pricing. Nachos IMO were so worth it for the size, but empanadas on the other hand not so much. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. Finding good, healthy vegan food is not easy. Along with the good service, I'd come again!

They took all the culture out of this place mind as well name the place WHITE elephant. I miss the colorfulness and homey ambiance, now it feels gentrified. Idk if it's a new owner or what but bring THE COLOR and the MIXED TUNE VIBES back please. Where is the bob Marley where is the good oldie music ? All country tunes now. Not even rock tunes. Food is still pretty good though. You can say I have mixed feelings for this new renovation.

Do not eat here if you have allergies!!! I have a severe peanut allergy and notified the server multiple times about the severity of the allergy. I was assured by the staff that it would be safe for me to eat the bbq cauliflower dish and was then served cauliflower doused in Thai peanut sauce.

Back to this great restaurant , and it continues to produce amazing , healthy food! Many vegan, vegetarian options , much more than most restaurants including gluten free options! Portions continue to be generous and delicious. Service is friendly and attentive . Probably best to make a reservation if you want to sit on outside back deck with water view. Inside there is a nice bar/ counter and an additional separate side room which is darkly lit. The food is really really fantastic. Wish I lived closer to come more often!

This place is amazing! They have gluten free and vegans options, as well as non-vegan options for any meat lovers out there. I got the vegan mac & cheese and the vegan wings to share. My main dish was the Gong Bao "Beef" tacos. I'm not even vegan, but I loved it all, especially the vegan wings. They were the best I've ever had. Made of seitan- super crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Highly recommend checking this place out!!

When ever you want to eat healthy this is the best place. Staff is freindly and attentive. Nice views of water on the deck in back and decor inside is charming surfer style- love the Suffer Bowl with veggies and chicken!

I LOVE IT HERE!!! this food is so freaking good. i love the non-meat options, it's a blessing to our community. i did take out for the first time..and OMG so delicious i recommend the buffalo cauliflower and vegan nachos!

Food was completely amazing, as well as fairly priced for a vegan restaurant. Atmosphere was nice and drinks were big and good.
