London’s Best Breakfasts | Where to Go for Breakfast in London | Eater London

"Max Fishman, owner of the Quarter Store wine shop and provisioner on Mare Street, has installed chef Rodrigo Cervantes, originally from Mexico City but who has recently cut his teeth at a raft of London’s hottest restaurants, including Smoking Goat, Koya, and Rita’s. The result is a breakfast taco of charred salsa roja, a hash brown, fried egg and four rashers of good smoked bacon glazed with maple syrup and sugar; a breakfast burrito to fortify any morning, and come lunch, gorditas." - James Hansen

This little cafe looked promising. I was warmly welcomed by staff as I walked in and the table of baked goods and pastries looked delicious. Unfortunately that’s all I have good to say about it. I ordered the nutty banana loaf and it’s actually the worst banana bread I’ve ever had! So dry I needed to wash it down with water and very flavourless. The oat flat white is something I would expect of McDonald’s. So hot it burnt my mouth, spilling over the side of the (ugly) mug and tasted like nothing but burnt milk. One star for the pretty looking table of treats and one star for friendly staff, but I actually think 2/5 is being generous. Hopefully they can improve because this location really needs a nice coffee shop!

We are locals, so naturally we picked this café - not because it’s amazing, but because it was literally the closest and we were too lazy (and hungry) to walk further. Breakfast mission: two black americanos and some side dishes. Easy, right? Now, here’s where we apparently committed a café crime: we asked for one coffee in a mug and the other in a takeaway cup. Yep, wild request, I know. The waiter responded with a world-class Olympic-level eye roll, like we’d just asked her to reinvent the espresso machine on the spot. Food? Pretty decent. Staff? About as warm and welcoming as a parking ticket. My rating: Yum-ish food, but don’t expect smiles unless you bring your own.

This is my first time coming to this cafe, I think it’s a good start for a new cafe, a much needed one on the Castlenau area but there are areas of improvement needed. Firstly my black Americano was very easterly and didn’t hold much taste, it didn’t taste very different to a vending machine or instant coffee because of how water it is, there is no WiFi here or any that I could see, which I think is important considering there is not the most ideal signal further inside the cafe, and lastly the other price of the coffee is far to expensive for the quality. However, staff were very professional and kind.

Good value, big portions and friendly staff. Nice selection of food, drinks and desserts. Had the breaded chicken sandwich which was really tasty especially with the sauce.

Very glad to have a new, quality restaurant in the area. The food was excellent. The service was very courteous and friendly. The wine was a bit pricey for a place like this, but absolutely worth out.

I had a great time here! The food was delicious—especially the tarragon chicken, which was cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed a smooth and rich coffee latte. The service stood out, particularly from the lovely lady with black hair—she was friendly, attentive, and really knows how to treat customers well. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, and I definitely think this place deserves a second visit.

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful macaron and a smooth, well-crafted coffee latte at The Quarter Café. The macaron was light and crisp with just the right sweetness, and the latte was perfectly balanced—warm, creamy, and comforting. The café itself has a lovely, cozy ambiance—calm, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxing break. It truly felt like a hidden gem, offering a quiet escape from the day’s rush. I would also like to extend my special thanks to Kirstie, one of your staff members, for her genuinely warm and welcoming presence. Her friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable, and it’s clear she brings a lovely energy to the café that guests truly appreciate—including myself. Looking forward to visiting again soon! JAYCIE

Hi! I recently had a too good to go bag and I wanted to say firstly thank you for the selection of sweet and savoury they were both yummy but to ask, whats the name of the circular bread with cheese and mushroom filling and the ingredients? I’d love to remake it at home
