London’s Best Breakfasts | Where to Go for Breakfast in London | Eater London

"Max Fishman, owner of the Quarter Store wine shop and provisioner on Mare Street, has installed chef Rodrigo Cervantes, originally from Mexico City but who has recently cut his teeth at a raft of London’s hottest restaurants, including Smoking Goat, Koya, and Rita’s. The result is a breakfast taco of charred salsa roja, a hash brown, fried egg and four rashers of good smoked bacon glazed with maple syrup and sugar; a breakfast burrito to fortify any morning, and come lunch, gorditas." - James Hansen

This little cafe looked promising. I was warmly welcomed by staff as I walked in and the table of baked goods and pastries looked delicious. Unfortunately that’s all I have good to say about it. I ordered the nutty banana loaf and it’s actually the worst banana bread I’ve ever had! So dry I needed to wash it down with water and very flavourless. The oat flat white is something I would expect of McDonald’s. So hot it burnt my mouth, spilling over the side of the (ugly) mug and tasted like nothing but burnt milk. One star for the pretty looking table of treats and one star for friendly staff, but I actually think 2/5 is being generous. Hopefully they can improve because this location really needs a nice coffee shop!

I had a great time here! The food was delicious—especially the tarragon chicken, which was cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed a smooth and rich coffee latte. The service stood out, particularly from the lovely lady with black hair—she was friendly, attentive, and really knows how to treat customers well. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, and I definitely think this place deserves a second visit.

This is my first time coming to this cafe, I think it’s a good start for a new cafe, a much needed one on the Castlenau area but there are areas of improvement needed. Firstly my black Americano was very easterly and didn’t hold much taste, it didn’t taste very different to a vending machine or instant coffee because of how water it is, there is no WiFi here or any that I could see, which I think is important considering there is not the most ideal signal further inside the cafe, and lastly the other price of the coffee is far to expensive for the quality. However, staff were very professional and kind.

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful macaron and a smooth, well-crafted coffee latte at The Quarter Café. The macaron was light and crisp with just the right sweetness, and the latte was perfectly balanced—warm, creamy, and comforting. The café itself has a lovely, cozy ambiance—calm, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxing break. It truly felt like a hidden gem, offering a quiet escape from the day’s rush. I would also like to extend my special thanks to Kirstie, one of your staff members, for her genuinely warm and welcoming presence. Her friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable, and it’s clear she brings a lovely energy to the café that guests truly appreciate—including myself. Looking forward to visiting again soon! JAYCIE

We were staying at The Bridge who's breakfast was limited and overpriced so thought we'd try here. Friendly welcome from staff, the ham and cheese croissant and raisin swirl were the best I've tasted. Had to wait a while to get our bill, otherwise would have been 5 star. Dogs were allowed which was a negative for me but no doubt helpful for others given the number of dogwalkers on the river paths!

The guys here are new only a week old so you could see there’s a few teething problems with there service and dynamics. So please be patient with them as the food was great and the staff are all kind and friendly. Sometimes people in Barnes are quick to be rude but I believe in supporting our local businesses and will come again. My son and I ordered the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup then I ordered the English breakfast one of wash with has brown and halloumi added in. Food was lovely and for drinks we ordered fresh orange juice. My son is very fussy and a pancake expert lol but he loved and wants to come again. Thanks guys for your service and I hope all will work itself out with the dynamics.

My go-to local spot! The Quarters has amazing hot drinks (Adi makes an incredible skinny mocha!) and delicious fresh-baked pastries—sweet and savory. Perfect for grabbing a coffee to-go or settling in for a few hours of work 🙌🏾

I went in to order coffee and croissant, placed my order and I never saw the lady attending me after placing the croissant on my table. I waited for my coffee but nothing. After some time, two customers came and they were served immediately. I went to ask for my coffee, the lady did not even remember and she did not even appear sorry. Instead she asked me whether I still need the coffee. What kind of customer service is that? No friendly smile or sincere apology. I was hugely disappointed. How demeaning and discriminatory can a waitress be? I really wanted to enjoy a nice coffee in a new cafe but instead, the service was utterly poor.
