Rage Review - West Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The best thing about Rage is Musical Mondays, a magical night where people get together and lip-sync to famous theater video clips. Outside of that, it's a pretty uninteresting club and probably only still open because it’s home to Weho’s only 18+ night. So congrats, you’re talking to a 20-year-old who you’re definitely driving back to LMU tomorrow." - Brant Cox

This place is awesome. Husband and I were just looking for a nice restaurant with a bar and this came up on google. Great food, the atmosphere is really nice and service was superb. Jenn took care of us and she was excellent. I got deep fried deviled eggs, zucchini Alfredo and we also got the day's special which was meatloaf to take home to the kids. EVERYTHING is handmade and gluten free. They have the best fries, the chicken strips are sooo good and hand breaded. I definitely suggest bringing your family for a try. I'll be going back to eventually try everything on the menu. I love that you can get a different special that isn't on the menu any day. Highly recommend!!!! Oh, I forgot to add that I had a drink called the Jolly Remy! It was amazing! I'm not big on alcohol and this was a perfect drink for me. Prices were reasonable. We spent over $100, but we got an appetizer, 5 drinks and 5 entrees because the food was so good we wanted to take some home to the kids.

The staff are great. food is hot and delicious. Love the outdoor seating. Best part, I can enjoy a meal out with my daughter who has celiac disease and a soy allergy, and not sacrifice taste and texture. A must try.

Google
It doesn’t even taste gluten free!!! I support !!!! Amazing place and always expect it to be crazy busy because wood the food but it’s nice & quiet!

First time here. Great food! So delicious! Everything is made from scratch and tastes amazing! The building is unique with the old exposed brick and industrial decor style. Relaxed and chill atmosphere. The service was friendly and the food came out really fast. They are completely gluten free for anyone with allergies. I would definitely be stopping in again when up this way again.

Google
The food was wonderful. I couldn't tell that anything was gluten-free and I can have gluten. It was well worth the 4 hour trip I made for it.

Google
A Great place with an exciting social atmosphere at lunchtime. I had the crispy chicken club and tots, with a black cherry creme soda. Nothing too exciting. But the cook nailed it. Nothing crazy fancy, too far out, deconstructed, etc. Fast service, friendly waitress, and very very tasty. Can’t recommend enough! The big claim to fame for The Rage is that all of their food is fresh, from scratch, so those with allergies or gluten-free needs can rest assured with this place. While we don’t have any diet restrictions, this is great to know when planning your next big outing or family get together.

If you have never been here, you are missing out! Between our amazing server, Jyn and the cook behind the scenes, my husband and I had a phenomenal meal for lunch today! Service and Food was top notch! We took a bite or two to try the food before I could post the review... First, the Traditional Taco's: 10/10.... y'all we were both extremely impressed with the flavor and fixins! A definite must have! We got 4 to bring back to our hotel for supper 😁 Second, my husband got the the Burger Basket and he was thoroughly impressed by the flavor and they didn't skimp with what came in it. He got the Tots and said they were salted perfectly! 10/10 for sure Third, my Grilled Chicken Breast with Swiss cheese (you had a choice if 4 cheeses), tomato, lettuce and I chose no Mayo and I got the fries which had just the right amount of salt and just a hint of pepper (and I don't do pepper on fries). 10/10....oh I forgot it came with bacon too and it wasn't your typical bacon. It had a smokey flavor! She said they are only open on Friday's and Saturday's currently....y'all need to go! We will be going back! Oh, I need to mention that EVERYTHING is made from scratch 😮 They have gluten free and dairy free and so much much more! Definitely impressed! Thank you so much!!

Yelp
This is a great, unexpected find in Niles! I have a severe allergy to onion which usually leaves me quite disappointed at restaurants. This was NOT the case at The Rage. This place is AWESOME. Hand made everything, real ingredients, separate fryers....I was actually able to eat fries for the first time out in YEARS, and they were absolutely delicious. The pomegranate lemonade was so good! The chicken tacos, crispy chicken club and traditional tacos were all thoroughly enjoyed by my family. Jyn made our experience here even better with her sweet personality and willingness to answer our questions. We will definitely be back. Restaurants across America need to follow the example of this restaurant....clean ingredients, compassion toward food allergies, hand made meals.....this is what we want more of. Thank you, The Rage, for offering people like me a place where we can actually enjoy a meal with our limitations.

Yelp
The food and the service were excellent. We received a warm welcome and excellent service from Jen! We started with a cocktail, along with chips and homemade salsa, which was delicious! We ordered the cheese burger and meatloaf special. Both dishes were scrumptious! High quality too! The aesthetic of the building is really nice! We would definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Food was really good. Classic building and bar. Great atmosphere. Service was a little rough. A couple of orders were delivered wrong. But, I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was great! Ambiance was lovely! Did not have alcohol but they have a great looking bar! Many choices for a vegetarian! Will definitely be back! Recommend the loaded fries, black bean burger, fish tacos and Pad That.

Yelp
We went to The Rage Friday night to hear a band that was playing in the restaurant's outdoor area. The band was good but the ambiance was awful. The whole outdoor area is light by large multi-globe light fixtures that are all fitted with lots of hideously intense blue light bulbs. Its like sitting in giant a bug zapper. It's a shame because it's a large area with some nice vines and shrubs, and has plenty of good tables and seating. But they need some warm and inviting bulbs in those fixtures (maybe some up-lights on the vines and shrubs too). Anyway I won't be attending any more outdoor shows there until they dump the blue lights.

Yelp
I tried them for the first time today and I loved it! The tacos and fries were absolutely perfect. The macaroni and cheese was just okay, but honestly, the rest of the food, the service (Jennifer was great!), and the place itself was incredible. I will be back next time I'm in the area for sure!

Yelp
If rating was based off of service and staff, 10/10. But the food is not good. Might be "good for the area" but from someone more traveled, absolutely not. The pizza smelled and tasted like a prepackaged frozen processed mess. The fish had an ounce of potential, but the coleslaw was too much and/or too wet for the ratio of the fish. The tortilla was what seemed to fried but still chewy. The fish it's self was bland and grey. Will not return and will not recommend.

Yelp
Great atmosphere in the place and the employees really were wonderful. Pretty small, unique menu. We didn't know it was a gluten-free place (which we have nothing against, I'm vegan), but the food was a little different from what we're used to. I appreciate that they have options though! The mac and cheese was not good and made two of my friends a little sick (0/5 people liked it), the burger's bun was hard and fell apart, the pad thai tasted like peanut butter soup, but nothing was necessarily BAD. Mine was made correctly but was a little bit cold. On a good note, the Brix sodas are to die for! Fun experience, but the food could be much better.

Yelp
Not great... or even good to be honest. The restaurant was mostly empty and the waitress ignored us most of the time, we sat there with water for a good half hour and she was not polite when she did stop by. The food wasn't particularly good, probably would have been better with a frozen pizza at home. The restaurant itself was freezing and music was so loud you couldn't hear someone across the table talk. Not a place I would go back to.

Yelp
We finally had the opportunity to dine at The Rage. I'd been looking forward to it for a long time. We arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday to beat the dinner rush. Our server came promptly enough. Adult beverage options were sparse. No craft beverages, and on tap was American swill. Food came fairly promptly. My dining partner's burger was good. I had the zucchini Alfredo with broccoli and fried tofu. It was warm but not hot when it arrived. It was lukewarm soon after it arrived at our table. The flavor was fantastic. The vegetables a perfect al dente. The tofu was fried crispy the way I like, but they did nothing to season it and it was tasteless. The Alfredo "sauce" itself, was a joke. This was not a sauce but clumps of cheese here and there, and lots of liquid on the bottom of the bowl. Service, which started out well, fell off after one check to see if we needed anything. We were finished eating for 20 minutes and I was getting up to find someone to give us the bill when our young waitress finally returned. When I commented on the wait to pay, she said she'd been washing dishes. That they all take a turn at it. She said "It is what it is," and seemed unconcerned. To me, that is horrible management. And not such good service to not know how to handle a complaint. "It is what it is" sounds rather unconcerned. The entire time that we waited to pay our bill, a young couple waited to order. Nobody offered to start them out with a drink or even acknowledged them, and they left without ordering. If you want a restaurant to succeed long term, you need to shoot for repeat business. It is unlikely that you'll get mine.

Yelp
So I don't normally put restaurants on blast but...... Let me tell y'all about our experience tonight at The Rage in Niles. So first off staff was fine. Forgot cheese on Ernests burger but got it back out right away so ok no biggie. Well then I think another waitress forgot something on another order and at this point the owner is out checking on tables. Ok this is where it got crazy to me. First let just say we are the only inter-racial couple in whole place. Everyone else was white only. THE OWNER literally stopped at every table BUT OURS to ask how everyone was doing and not just once but probably half a dozen times while we're there. Never even makes eye contact with us. Then proceeded to CUSS OUT his employees and saying he should replace them all LOUDLY! I thought this was extremely unprofessional and actually felt bad for all the girls working. On that note food was great, but because of how the owner acted with cussing and slamming stuff down (also children in ear shot) I will personally never go back and will actually write a review for my very first time because honestly have never felt discriminated against with my husband ever before nor heard a boss belittle their staff so blatantly in front of customers. Crazy!

Yelp
We waited about 10 minutes before someone came out to take our order. There menu is small but I'm told it will get bigger. I hope they have more vegan options as well as a Vegan cheese for the macaroni. I would also like to see a nice Kale, Spinach and Spring Mix salad with maybe some avacado and other toppings. I had a Hummus veggie plate that was very good. I'll be back again soon.

Yelp
We totally loved it! Fun atmosphere, with an amazing old building. The food came out hot and fast. We will return again!

Yelp
Creative menu, great tacos. I really like this place! Deep fried deviled eggs are pretty darn good also!

Barb N.

Yelp
Lunch today made a vegan and vegetarian very happy. It is so nice to have choices when you have a "special diet" and not just settle for the one thing that is or can be meatless. My hibiscus margarita was very lovely with edible flowers and tasty, too. Jen, our server, was wonderful. I brought a menu home to show family and friends. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
seriously 10/10 we didn't really have a plan on where we were going to eat the other night but decided to go to the rage since it was open and i hadn't been yet. turns out it was their first full day open! the food was phenomenal and the drinks were equally as good!! the people serving were very friendly and kind! you definitely need to check this place out! :)

Yelp
They're still getting off the ground with some things but the food is great. I had the south of the border bowl and it looks great s tasted fantastic. Presently they have a bit of a limited menu but you can still find amazing food between $8-10. I hear their lunch crowd is thriving. Their dinner crowd on weekends is decent. When the weather is warmer they'll be access to the patio and potentially a liquor license soon. Hope they can withstand what seems to be a business curse in that building where nothing stays more than a couple years. There's a coffee bar downstairs and a place to rent upstairs for special occasions. The waitress said soon a bakery. That sounds amazing! If you looking for dinners like mine or burgers or Mac n cheese give them a try!

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service fantastic. Yes, the menu is limited but the food is really good! Most people will find something they will like. I for one prefer quality over quanity and our meals were pleasing to the eye and the palate. My friend had the black bean burger and I had the southwest salad and we would both have them again but plan on trying something different.

Ashley T.

Yelp
We were skeptical when we walked in but everyone was so friendly and welcoming!!! We ordered food and everything was amazing!!!! Jen is an amazing bartender!!!

Yelp
This was a very interesting experience. I'll start off with my appetizer; the half order Nachos. They came out great, looked good and tasted great like Nachos should. Then came the entrees. I ordered a southwestern chicken and rice bowl while my better half ordered a 10" pizza. My chicken bowl tasted fine with one big downside, the chicken was very dry. My fiancées pizza was a nightmare. When she tasted it, it was gluten free breading, which is not stated on the menu... usually gluten free is an option, not the only pizza dough they use. It was also all over cooked and the cheese had burnt into the breading and was tacky. The place was also very dirty and menus were very cheap, they were plain paper menus.

Donna W.

Yelp
My first time going to the Rage, I got the Mac and cheese and a cob salad, I've have to say the best Mac and cheese from a restaurant I've ever had, yummy! The salad was amazing too, I can't wait to try everything else

Tina A.

Yelp
Seriously the nicest staff and the have vegan vegetarian options, along with a full bar! It's a very nice atmosphere!

Yelp
The building inside was as lovely as before, with dark grey walls. There were both tables and sizable booths, one of which was given to us after some discussion. The booths were new and would seat six. The menu was limited, but we ordered their "bowls", which consisted of small amounts of quinoa, tomatoes, lettuce, etc., and the diner can stir it all up into a salad or eat it as is. I found that fun, since I play with my food frequently. The food was fine, but I had other issues. Their soda offerings were not the usual, and one had. to listen to a seemingly endless list of choices. Paper straws getting soggy. No offered free refills (w asked .) Silverware miswrapped (I had a spoon and fork, my friend a knife and fork.) Server confused as to the paying process. After a lengthy discussion at the seating stand with other loitering servers it was determined she would take it up, and we would get refills to go since she seemingly wanted to hustle us out the door. The owner also stopped at every table but ours, and he had time to do so. We will return in a few weeks so the minimal glitches are worked out.

Yelp
Stopped in with the family after a movie. Food was excellent and the service was very attentive. Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Excellent gluten-free dining. Plenty of options, fast and friendly service, generous portions of tasty food. The French fries are legit, and I say that as someone who does not have a gluten allergy or sensitivity and so can sample fries wherever I go. Recommended!

Yelp
If you want to grab a quick bite to eat within walking distance of the Niles riverfront Park, look no further. The Rage is in an ideal location in the downtown area with a movie theater to the north, and the downtown strip to the east. Upon entering the establishment, one encounters a warm and inviting ambience but unfortunately the charm stops there. Today I was greeted by no one. Assuming I had been seen, as the sign said to "please seat yourself", I went upstairs to a comfortable spot previously marketed and advertised as a coffee shop within the restaurant. After around 7 minutes, I finally came down stairs and found a man at the cash register who identified himself as the owner. He informed me that they only do coffee downstairs but that I could take it up if I wanted. He then flagged down a barista who was apparently doing everything, and let him know I wanted coffee. I sat down to wait. The owner just shuffled papers the entire 5 minutes I waited and then finally the barista came to take my order. I got a black coffee. Normally I would over look the fact that my coffee was served in an oversized tea cup, but as soon as I was handed my coffee, the barista hurried off. Apparently at The Rage, when someone walks in and sits down, with a menu in their hand, gesturing toward a menu item to ask a question of the employee, you need to also inform them that you might want to order food. Frustrated, I went upstairs to drink my coffee. I thought to myself that they must be busy and that they would get to me. 45 minutes later I finally came downstairs to use the restroom and actually had to flag someone down to ask if it would be OK to place an order. My food was brought up promptly and although I was promised a free refill on my overpriced fountain drink no one came back upstairs for the next hour and a half. The food was average at best and slightly overpriced. This was very disappointing to me because for once, a restaurant completely nailed it in the atmosphere department. With a little etiquette training and some professional development The Rage may become a decent place. But I will not be visiting for a long time!!

Cynthia B.

Yelp
Today was my first visit to The Rage as in "It's all the rage" restaurant in Niles, Michigan. I had a burger and fries while my friend had their spring salad. Everything was prepared perfectly and was delicious. I am so happy that this restaurant opened in downtown Niles.

D P.

Yelp
The salad I ordered was very good, but it was lacking in greens. There was some butter lettuce on the bottom of the plate, and that was it. I ordered it with grilled chicken and could hardly find it (extra charge). This place has potential but they need more help. The menu is quite limited.

Bob N.

Yelp
HEALTH ALERT! Wait, not what you think... Liz and I went for an early dinner yesterday for my birthday. I picked the Rage because my wife has Celiac, and this place knows what that means. We love pizza, we just sold our pizzeria after nine years, because Gluten is poison to my pizza chef wife, and the flour was getting too much. The pizza here is the best we have tried! Here's the Alert...If you suffer from gut pain, bloating, headaches, sore joints, migraines, fatigue, and/or terrible bathroom episodes, you may want to know more about this protein that attacks your intestine. Try this and save at lot of money before you see the Doctor.... eat every meal from The Rage for three days straight, that should be enough time to start feeling better, then you will know what you have to do. Their 100% Gluten Free menu makes it pretty easy. So many go undiagnosted, only to suffer. Good Luck and thanks to The Rage for many more happy meals to come for us! Bob PS- NO wheat, barley,or rye.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Four of us had dinner for the first time tonight at The Rage. My husband is vegan and I eat gluten free, so I was shocked that everything on the menu is gluten free! The menu isn't real big, but we all loved our meals! The chili and harvest soup were excellent. We all got "bowls" which were basically salads with nice ingredient combos and very fresh! Our server was helpful and answered our questions. We enjoyed our first visit and will definitely return!

Molly K.

Yelp
Went there witg the family, great service but we were the only ones in there so might be different on a busier day. The lemonade was the best lemonade I've ever had, but their food options were very slim, more for like a Californian blogger or vegetarian. Not a lot of stuff, or at least not a lot of stuff that sounded appetizing. We all got burgers, and they were three times the size of our buns and flat like a McDonald's burger. Absolutely no flavor to it, I'd say worse than a frozen burger from a box. The fries were okay, kinda the only way I could finish the burger. Wouldn't recommend this place unless your vegan/vegetarian.
