Best Saint Patrick’s Day Events in Savannah | Eater Carolinas

"Kicking off the party at 8 a.m., the Rail Pub is known for its Saint Patrick’s Day breakfast of “Kegs and Eggs” to start a base for the long day of drinking. The first 80 people through the door can grab a T-shirt. Located in the heart of the Historic District, the Rail Pub will have a DJ all day, as well as an expedited line for to-go drinks." - Barbara Skidmore

Google
We came for a drink and stayed to enjoy the music and it’s open til 3am. We had a great time. A fun place to hang out the last days of 2024.

Google
When it’s time to hang out, this is the place I go to. It’s close to what used to be my favorite hotel and on Fridays at 5 o’clock. They have fried chicken for a appetizer. The people are super friendly and it definitely deserves the name pub for sure.

Mattie Tate

Google
My friend needed to pee, they said her real ID was fake, we had a cop verify it, the cop followed us and said it was real and they refused her entry still. Rude and unprofessional, you guys need to find a better way to run things. -10/10 you are awful and your place is trashed out front.

Google
Zach was definitely not in the mood to bartend today. I asked for a draft Modelo, but he gave me a canned one instead. When I pointed it out, he got an attitude. I then asked how much the beer was, and he said $8.00. I was shocked and mentioned that last Wednesday it was $3.00. He replied, "Oh, it's because we're downtown." I asked him to close my tab and give me an itemized receipt, to which he responded with, "Really?" I said, "What's the big deal? I'm not just giving my money away," and then I left.

Google
We love the Rail! You can’t beat their pickle back shots and ghetto dawgs. We were looking to stay away from super touristy areas and we stumbled upon here and the vibes were perfect. Very divey downstairs and upstairs had karaoke! Always a good sign when you run into your bartenders from other places drinking here!

Google
So I happened upon outdoor karaoke last night after have a few drinks at another place. It was so much fun! Seriously, drinks are affordable, place reasonably clean, the people were awesome and the outdoor space was backyard-dive with some Savannah swag on it. So much fun! Whoever the Karaoke MC was deserves an award for most entertaining I’ve ever seen! Definitely come out for a night of karaoke!

Kaitey Maloney

Google
So fun, but the back corner of the courtyard is definitely haunted by something so if you’re not into that stuff stay away from that part

Google
I was in town for a bachelor party, which means we are having an electric time. Next thing I know, we’re out here at Rail Pub. It’s a multi-floor bar with a cool space inside but the real gem is the outside patio with karaoke. I’d like to give a big shoutout to TJ the DJ. She kept the energy going and let us have a lot of fun up on that stage. I would definitely recommend making this a stop on a night out in Savannah.

Yelp
It was a great place. There was a live Band, The Gypsy Outlaws. They were fantastic. We will be going there again.

Yelp
We came for karaoke. We were visiting in town and this was the spot people recommended. Karaoke started at 9pm. WE had a great time, but the karaoke girl did not. She just texted and looked annoyed the whole time. Kind of a vibe killer. Thankfully the bartender was able to drown out the sorrows. Kind of dead but great if you want a private jam session with your buddies. It was a Monday so I bet it's more alive during the week or weekend. Drinks were good, bartenders were nice. Usually karaoke host are lively and get the crowd going and people excited and you wanna tip them. Hopefully she's okay.?

Adrian R.

Yelp
I love this place. Never a disappointment but one night I ordered an old fashion, the female bartender (fake tan, age is questionable, lots of makeup) stood there and it was obvious she did not know how to make one. I took one sip and walked out. I'll go to a different bartender next time.

Yelp
Decent spot in Savannah, probably our most fav. Great location, hours, and terrible karaoke, but it's all fun. Bartenders were also excellent.

Yelp
Always fun ................ Must do ........#Ct you swannny set the set the add something I'm not sure what you want me to add so I am adding 85 characters to this.

Yelp
This was my first time at this bar and I will say, the inside wasn't my style. It was 2 stories and had an outdoor bar. The 2nd floor had karaoke going and one bathroom and people were packed in there like sardines! During COVID. I grabbed a drink and went outside. I will say, these were some of the cheapest drinks I've had in downtown Savannah. A sweet tea vodka and a beer was only $14. Impressive. The outdoor area was spacious, they had a hand washing ratio but all the tables were very dirty. They placed pretty decent music.

Yelp
Cool place to grab some drinks. Enjoyed it a lot. It was lots of fun and in a great location.

Yelp
Exactly what we wanted an old, authentic, Irish dive bar. Great patrons, awesome bartender. Cheap drinks, and a much needed getaway from the touristy college bars near by.

Clayton D.

Yelp
Best dive bar in Savannah. A welcome replacement to the old (and closed) Jim Collins, but minus the irascible and quixotic personality of Jim, bless his soul. A true locals' hangout on the outskirts of the city market area.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
One of the most friendly bars in Savannah. I always meet great people here and there's different levels for whatever the vibe is. Drinks are cheap and strong(very strong).
google avatar

Genna G.

Yelp
Holy hell this place is an awesome dive bar. You want something fancy? Go somewhere else. The decor, the bartenders the straightforward beer and shot choices, the music. It's a dive bar lover's dream.
google avatar

Christopher Z.

Yelp
Fun local Irish pub. Came in on a Tuesday so it wasn't too packed but they did have karaoke going on upstairs. Drink prices were great and the bartenders were friendly. If you're looking for a local dive bar experience, then this is the place for you.

Yelp
I came to this bar when the Humane Society of Greater Savannah held an event this weekend and The Rail Pub was one of its participants. I had no idea this bar was here! It was pretty much a hole in the wall but it was really cool local bar. I ended up getting a light beer and my friend got their pickle shot. We only stayed for 10 minutes but it was really cool! The bar is covered with really cool stickers it was really cool to see everything that was on the walls.

Yelp
A Tuesday in November... this place had about four other patrons. It has a great location in downtown so during the weekend and peak touristy times of the year I bet this place is hopin'! The equation is simple: Dirty floor+sticky bar+ a wreck of a bathroom= a dive bar! And The Rail loves being a dive bar! We stopped in, we each had one drink and kept it moving. Don't get me wrong, I like dive bars but this had nothing to keep us in our seats. The other patrons were sparse, the bartender wasn't really chatty. The music was coming from upstairs and next door so it was our time to move on. It's worth checking out if you like dives. I can say, nice to look up and see the Pats banner hanging being far from home! Apparently a co-owner is a fan.

Yelp
It has been a while since I have been to a good dive bar, but this place was it. It was five of us on Saturday night and we definitely made the best of the night. Upstairs has karaoke which our friend Holly absolutely killed..in a good way. There were some pretty good acts actually so it was entertaining. Service was pretty good. The server downstairs in the onesy was real funny and nice to our group. It would have been nice to be able to open a tab so we could grab drinks upstairs and downstairs, but apparently they are on separate computers. They had some good IPA beers on tap, mixed drinks were good, and they had a frozen sangria that was fairly tasty. Music in the patio was mostly good too. Younger me would have been here often dancing the night away. I would suggest a visit for a fun and chill night out in Savannah.

Yelp
I love this place!! 40s, fried chicken, and rail shots!! Usually a band outside. Good staff. Peanuts on the floor!!!
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
Service is top notch , votes the best dive bar in America 2018 and it truly is one of the best. Local hang out in the middle of down town Savannah. Walk everywhere and best prices.
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick midday drink on walk back to hotel. The bartender was very friendly and makes a great drink. The best part is how the bar and all employees went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Even handing out treats to patrons with dogs. Loved it.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
Perfect bar vibe. No it isn't fancy. Yes it's small inside but there is an outdoor space. Yes you can come dressed however you want. We were only there long enough for one drink. Mine was a tequila shot with orange wedge. Two of us had bloody Mary's and the other friend had a mimosa. Wouldn't change a thing. Dang it I forgot to get a T. Oh well next visit. Cheers!

Yelp
My favorite little dive bar in Savannah. Located in Historic downtown Savannah right off the Franklin Square. The Rail has been many things before it became the Rail Pub, from a boarding house to a brothel since its opening in 1890. The Rail pub offers you a lot....from beer to liquor and fun all around. Not only is this a fully stocked bar of liquor, they have a great selection of beer at great prices. Want a 40oz'er for 5 bucks??? They got 'em! They will even brown paper bag them for you! Or you can buy a 40oz koozie. Sit at the bar....have a couple drinks...and eat peanuts!!! As long as you throw the shells on the ground! They have other bar snacks...pickles, pigs feet, pickled eggs, Fritos....BUT every Friday is FREE FRIED CHICKED FRIDAY!!!!! Get in there early....as that scrumptious bird will be gone. The Rail is very deceiving when you are outside....but go on in...they is PLENTY of room for you! It does get pretty crowded on a Friday night...but put your drink in a to go cup and move on if it's to much for you. The bar downstairs is smaller and more quaint. They have a back room with dart boards, a jukebox for music, a patio up the staircase and a karaoke bar upstairs. The staff is super friendly, will chat with you all day long! Funny, being from out of town (2hrs away) they know us when we walk in. Kathy, the bartender, is AWESOME (and seems to work all the time)! She will never let you go thirsty, if that is what you want. While you are sitting there having a great time at the tables away from the bar...leave your mark! The bricks have many signatures and mementos from days past. Decorated in true fashion when nothing comes down and just gets covered...add something to the mix! I have never had a bad time here and will always make the Rail a part of MY Savannah! Tell them Terri sent ya...wink wink

Yelp
Pretty typical bar but in a city like Savannah this does feel a little more "local" than others. The bar and area is friendly and drinks poured well! One friend in my group had a particularly better trip than the rest of us but I'll let her include that in her review. Solid stop on a bar crawl or just sidling up to grab a drink and chat! Go get you some peanuts and have a fun visit.
google avatar

Kelsey P.

Yelp
Can totally see how this place has won best dive bar! It's great. Free fried chicken Friday, free insanely delicious roasted peanuts always and great drink prices. The bartenders are charismatic even when they are extremely busy. This is the place to gather with friends, swap stories, drink maybe a little too much, snack and just have some good old fashion fun.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Just popped in. No Bud Lite but thats cool. Had a guinness stout. Nice pour nice bartender. Good music playing. Small joint but nice vibe. Like it!
google avatar

Leah O.

Yelp
My friends and I came into this pub after a dinner in Savannah. My one friends husband was in the band playing in the outside area of the bar. It's super relaxed atmosphere. There is plenty of seating. And there is an outside bar. This is a super great place to go and hang out or have a beer.

Lexi H.

Yelp
Definitely a dive bar and not in a good way. There are several other dive bars within a stones throw distance from this place that are so much more worth the visit. Check out one of the neighboring bars, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Manny C.

Yelp
The best bar in Savannah. We come here to kick off our weekend every time we're in town. By far the national treasure of Savannah. Do not miss out!!
google avatar

Steve V.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place, quite literally as we wandered through this part of town. The crowd seemed very friendly and it was karaoke night. We heard it from the street and what more could you ask for. We were looking for the dive bar experience and certainly found that here. We were quickly welcomed and served and after a few songs, decided to sign up ourselves. The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground was our choice on this night. The crowd joined in and made it as painless as possible. A good time was had by all at this small, but friendly establishment.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
The rail is a really solid dive bar. The inside is dark and cozy, and then theres an outdoor patio area with another bar with a stage. Great music. They also have karaoke! We had a really good time and if im ever in savannah again, i would make it a point to come back here.
google avatar

Jamesa H.

Yelp
We went specifically for the karaoke!! It was fun!! Mixed crowd!! A few groups were celebrating bachelorette parties so definitely a great way to end the night! Great vibe!

Donna C.

Yelp
Was visiting Savannah for a bachelorette for my great-niece. Was recommended The Rail Pub for karaoke. Myself, 54 and my niece-her mom who is 44 could not get in the door because she did not have her ID. I get it, WESLEY, at the door, was obviously doing his job. BUT would not let us in! Despite the fact we missed the entire Bachelorette karaoke with my great-niece, the bride, we would have spent entirely too much money on alcohol in this establishment! One star is too many
google avatar

Nikki J.

Yelp
Definitely a hole in the wall bar. It's pretty small -- but a good time! Even with being small, I remember feeling crowded maybe twice the whole night. Upstairs has karaoke, and I definitely took advantage of that.
google avatar

Curtis T.

Yelp
Dark, Dank, Sketchy, and F***ing Amazing! If you prefer dark hole in the wall places filled with sketchy people, where you may get shanked or laid in the bathroom, this is your place! I went on a Friday which apparently is free fried chicken day. Umm what? AMAZING. I'm pretty sure several people had touched the chicken I ended up eating, but it added to the allure of this strange and wonderful bar. I will highly recommend to anyone going to Savannah. My favorite Dive bar will always remain as the "Hole in the wall" in San Francisco south of market. But this is a close #2. Good work!
google avatar

Lorraine Crespo P.

Yelp
This may sound odd, but I don't drink, so how can I rate a bar? Well the Humane Society of Greater Savannah held an event this weekend and The Rail Pub was one of its participants. What a NICE group of people! Looked out for us, the volunteers, and their patrons. People went in with a smile and came out with even bigger smiles!
google avatar

Essence G.

Yelp
If you just want to get out of the house, have a few drinks, and sing your heart out, this is DEFINITELY the place you need to be. I visited this place and the atmosphere was everything! Drunks coming up to you making conversations and by the end of the night, they're your best friends! I sung karaoke SO many times, the only thing The Rail Pub owe me is another voice box. The drinks grew some hair on my chest and gave me all of the liquid courage I needed to get on stage and perform like my name was Tina Turner. Needless to say, the crowd roared and I'm going to go give them another performance soon. I shall return.
google avatar

Luisa R.

Yelp
If you want to be charged for drinks you never receive + 20% tip.. hit up this place! Coming from a bartender, these bartenders are rude thieves.
google avatar

Elise D.

Yelp
I think I peaked singing kareoke at this bar. We were visiting Savannah and we just happened to walk into this place on a Saturday night. It is pretty small inside, but I never felt that it was too crowded. We saw that they were doing kareoke and in my previous experience, I have never seen a crowd as excited for kareoke as I did here. Everyone was singing along to the music and it was just a great time. We got up and sang "Lips of an Angel," which is a throwback to the early 2000s, and everyone loved it. They also had a good selection of local beers on tap. Overall, would definitely come back for the kareoke and fun vibes!
google avatar

Honey B.

Yelp
Favorite bar in Savannah!!! Never had a bad time. Love the atmosphere and style if the bar, service was quick and the bartenders were very nice. There's a second bar upstairs that opens later in the evening and plleeenty of outdoor space. They sell 40s and cozies for em too! My personal drink of choice, yuenlings :) Now stop reading and go have some fun.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
I have never eaten here. However, drinks and atmosphere are pretty top notch. Karaoke on Thursday nights is a fun time!
google avatar

Thomas C.

Yelp
Stopped in to pick up a cold one on a 95 degree day. Crazy definition of a Dive bar! Loud Ozzy music and inked up barkeep and patrons. If I was 30 years younger I would have stayed all nite!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
The Rail is more of a 2 but gets a 3 because they now have an outdoor bar area on the main level. The Rail is a dive bar, which is usually awesome, but at The Rail, pretentiousness flows as freely as the PBR tall boys. When I pay good money to visit an establishment, service with a smile and a thank you goes a long way. It is the service industry folks, get over yourselves and treat your customers like you actually want them there.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
This was one of my definite favorites in Savannah. It is a chill dive bar with good music, super cheap drinks, and a very local feel. The atmosphere is casual and the bartenders are attentive. You have the option to play the jukebox or listen to what they are planning. I think I saw pool tables in the back although we just stayed in the bar area.

Connor R.

Yelp
No good. Don't waste your time. Bouncer thought we had Fake ID's, mind you over 23 years old. Karaoke attendant scams people of their money. Would never come back. Look at all the fake reviews. Yikes. Scammer at a small pub. Give me a break. Disappointed. Ruined Savannah trip. Rachael Greer is her name. Won't come back unless she's gone. Expensive drinks too. People take note
google avatar

Casey C.

Yelp
Great customer service. My favorite bartender Mikey was amazing. Had the best time I've had in a long time. I would definitely come back again. If you're looking for a cool laid back dive spot with awesome staff this is the place to be
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Shannon is a dope bartender! Super attentive, very sweet and good at making drinks for every the pickiest people. Great vibe, come here when you visit!!
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite spot in Savannah for day drinking or fun late night. Really cool, funny stuff all around on the walls and great theme-night ideas. Plus there are plenty of places to hang out both inside and out, always something to do whether darts, cornhole, a band, karaoke or just playing the super awesome juke box. The staff is amazing and I adore the bartenders. They work hard to take good care of you, even when it is busy, and the drinks are cheap, cold and delicious. Yummy specialty shots too! Dive bars are always my favorite, and this one is a dive in all the right ways - did I mention I love this place? My first stop whenever I make it to town!
google avatar

Heather N.

Yelp
We went for karaoke night and had a blast.
google avatar

Raquel E.

Yelp
the music, ambiance and karaoke nights make this place magic!! We spent hours enjoying music and drinks on our recent girls trip! FABULOUS TIME!! 5 stars!!!!

Krupali J.

Yelp
Nice quiet bar early in the afternoon. The bartender loved our family dogs and was nice enough to offer treats!
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
If you are looking for a dive bar... This is it. First the positives. They had a decent happy hour with $3 drafts (though the draft beer was limited). They had a great outdoor space that had a stage, corn hole and a lot of outdoor seating. It seems like it would be a lot of fun at nighttime. When we were here it was dead (only one other couple). They did play some good music and the location is great. It is right off of the city market in downtown Savannah. Now the negatives. When I say this was a dive, I mean it. The first thing I saw when I walked in the door was a giant cockroach. Ok I guess we're in the south and I'll let that slide. I will not let the black hair in the beer slide though. Overall, I think this would be a great place to hangout, but don't head here if your looking for class.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
So much fun here! I went with a few friends to do karaoke. I've been to a few other karaoke spots before but I've always had to pay for songs. I like that they offer almost any song you can think of for free! It was a nice crowd for a Thursday night. Not overpacked, just enough breathing room where you feel comfortable. I will be back here for sure.
