"Admiral Maltings started supplying its small batch malt to local breweries last summer and is now ready for visitors to taste the fruits of its labor — 20 taps of beer brewed with Admiral malt — at a new taproom, The Rake. Named for the floor malting implement used to turn and aerate drying grain, the bar is located right inside the malthouse at Alameda Point (651A W Tower Avenue) with views onto the malting floor." - Caleb Pershan

Come out and check this place out it's really cool the inside has all the Hops layout inside a room and you could see them through the glass. They also have a really good selection of beers. A nice open floor plan so when you're in Alameda stop by and have yourself a cold one.

Google
This place is outstanding in service, food and beer! I love hazy IPA’s and there are a few options for me here. I can’t say enough about the soft pretzel. I have never had a pretzel this good! The butter and the cheese. ❤️❤️❤️

Google
Mixed feelings about The Rake at Admiral Maltings. Let's do the positives first. - Great selection of beer - Extremely warm and helpful staff - Nice overall vibe to relax with a few friends and lots of drinks Now for the negatives...well, there was only one negative albeit a rather large one. Their BBQ is awful. Not one single BBQ order was decent. The salads were better than the meat, and the tater tots were decent, but we didn't finish any of the plates we ordered. I would recommend eating somewhere else and then coming here for drinks.

My mom and sister and I stopped in while driving around the old navy base my mom used to be stationed at and we had an absolutely lovely time. John the bartender gave us such amazing service and the music they were playing was top tier! All the staff was so friendly and easy to talk to. The food was amazing and I discovered my new favorite cider here! Highly recommend. Amazing atmosphere and indoor and outdoor seating. Beautiful plants everywhere. Cant wait to come back! Definitely stop by!

Google
Excellent food, friendly service and of course great beers. Really nice staff, they let me plug in my electric scooter! Pulled pork plate was very good! Went back a couple weeks later for the tour, very cool! You gotta check it out.

Google
I was very exciting about this place, and I love to support local business. The staffs are friendly and giving us a beer sample, and I can test the freshness of the beer. One of the biggest con are the foods, normally the brewery should have delivery a great food goes along with the great 🍺 beer. I order pull pork sandwich and tater tots, and tater tots is not crispy at all, tastes like it’s soaked in the water. I had to return it. The staff is nice enough to let us return it. Again, come here for good beer, but make sure you had a decent food before you come.

Google
Live near by and have been here several times and they usually have at least 5 to 6 beers in my comfort zone. They have a limited food menu which includes a few appetizers and I really like the pickled quail eggs. Inside and outside seating is available, and they offer tours on Wednesday evenings.

Admiral Maltings doesn’t actually make beer, but at their adjacent pub/taproom, The Rake, they serve a variety of beers that have been made with their handcrafted malt. The Rake has plenty of shady outdoor seating, safely protected from the parking lot to keep your kids corralled while you’re sipping on a pint and some of the best pretzels around. We’ve seen many parents there with their kiddos at lunch on the weekends. The beer menu changes frequently, featuring different brews made from their malted grain. If you get a chance though, try their sours—they are a personal favorite.

Yelp
I have to The Rake many times and I cannot believe this is my first review! I feel so welcome every time, and this time for NYE day. Service and suggestions for beer were ample, we got to taste a bunch including a beet beer. Snacks and food are really delicious and it's so cool to go to a taproom and see malt being made and tended too (although not at the time we attended December 31). Ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The Rake is a fantastic spot for beer enthusiasts and aspiring brewers alike. Known for its quality malt offerings, the standout recommendation is Gallagher's Best Malt, which delivers unparalleled flavor. I sampled several other options, including Capay Malt City, Pacific Victor, Midway, and Yolo Gold Wheat, but none matched the richness of Gallagher's Best. At just $1.75 per pound, it's incredibly affordable--perfect for those experimenting with brewing their own beer. I picked up 2.14 pounds for my homebrewing adventure. In addition to their malt selection, The Rake features a taproom showcasing beers crafted by local brewers using their malts. Breweries like Olfactory and Almanac are highlighted, offering visitors a chance to taste the high-quality results of these ingredients. It's a great place to gather inspiration or simply enjoy a well-crafted pint. Whether you're there for the malt or the beer, The Rake delivers an experience that's both educational and delicious.

Yelp
We enjoy stopping by for a few drinks. I highly recommend their pretzels and their cornbread. They are really good. We have been here a few times now and the customer service has always been great and friendly. It's a good environment with some games to play or you can watch the game on TV. They do have an outdoor patio area and is pet friendly. Lots of parking and other breweries nearby within walking distance. We did do the tour. I believe it's on Sundays. You may need to check their website for the exact dates and time.

Yelp
Show up for the beer and ambiance; stay home for the food. Really great outdoor vibes at this beer bar with colorful outdoor picnic tables, shaded areas and live music. We were really excited to try both the beer and food, but was really disappointed by the food, on both quality and speed. It took so long, (despite there only being 3 tables, it took more than 30min at least) that we wondered if they are just starting up the bbq! I wouldn't return for the food - all the items were not worth the calories - nor the long wait. Plenty of other options in the vicinity. But nice place to enjoy a pint or two with friends outside. Free parking close by.

Karen C.

Yelp
If you're looking for a beer, this would probably be a nice and casual spot to stop by. They have a nice selection and the staff are very friendly. In addition, there's plenty of bar seating and outdoor seating. However, if you're looking for food/bbq, then you may be disappointed. My party and I arrived at lunch, so we were hungry! We ordered the Brisket Plate, the St. Luis Ribs Plate, and the Twin Links Plate to share. Each plate comes with a side of coleslaw, mashed potato, and bbq sauce. The brisket and the ribs were really dry, so you definitely need the bbq sauce. The coleslaw and mashed potato lacked flavor. I will not be getting the bbq plates again. Perhaps, next time, we'll just opt for the snacks and beer rather than the actual food.

Tina A.

Yelp
Brew vibes Wagyu brisket - unfortunately was tough and thick, even tougher than regular brisket and a far cry from true wagyu. Home made bbq sauce was amazing (spicy, tangy, sweet) , compared to the plain au jus. Cole slaw - reminded me of a clean vietnamese salad Mashed potatoes - were generous (who doesn't like mashed potatoes??) Cornbread - MUST GET - super buttery and with the added jalapeño was sooo good. The honey butter that came with it was perfect and it was like the ultimate cornbread Atmosphere was industrial - you can see directly into the brewery and the workers making beer while you're eating , definitely Brewster vibes Overall would probably come back for the corn bread and appetizers

Koko M.

Yelp
I have been here at least five times and I keep forgetting to write a review. Love this little spot to drop in and grab an ice cold beer, especially in the warmer months... and these pretzels are one of a kind with a honey butter sauce and a beer sauce that are ridiculously delicious. You almost have to get two pretzels one for each of the sauces so you can enjoy both the gluttony is real and yes, they are THAT good. I've legit gone out of my way just to come here and buy six pretzels to share with friends. The seating is grown since the last time I was here inside outside deck, shaded, and Non with a bowl or two spread around for the four-legged friends. Of course, do not bring your four good friends if they are not already trained as there's not a lot of maneuverability when this place is crowded because it's soooo good, it often is. The selection changes and so do some of the staff. This round we didn't have the friendliest server when they brought our food out. Not sure what that was about because we didn't even interact with them previously. However, the person that took our order was incredibly friendly, very helpful and quite knowledgeable about the offerings. His choices were pristine! Great place to visit connect with friends and just hang out in the open air and great weather.

Danny N.

Yelp
Stopped by here when I was in the area and had a fantastic time. Both of the employees were knowledgeable and kind. The beer was great and the corn bread was a great little snack. The outdoor view is gorgeous. Definitely will be back!

Marc L.

Yelp
Will reserve the 5th star for a more complete visit. Stopped here on a bike ride... planned to stop at their neighbors on a bike ride but it was crowded and The Rake was not. To my benefit, I popped in and had loaded tots and a pale ale... so good... and came within 10 minutes of ordering. Loved that there was plenty of space for bikes. The bike racks were full but still lots of space for me to have my bike near me without bothering others. So curious about the other beers, whiskeys, and food... full menu! I'll be back!

Anh-Dao T.

Yelp
Update because I always forget about this place. The other breweries see heavy activity but this one is great too. My favorite thing about them is the fact that they have their own kitchen and don't need to rely on food trucks - and the food is great too! They smoke a mean tri tip. Their indoor seating is also the nicest of the breweries. Nice booths built into the structure, with views of their hops. Huge wooden table in the center for larger groups. And plenty of space for those bringing their babies and need room for a stroller, like us. I was reminded this weekend of how good this place is and we will definitely be back!

Martha S.

Yelp
Beer is great but the food was not exciting Food was cold Ribs not cooked fully unable to finish Service was friendly

Vicki L.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere! Cocktails, beer and wine. Friendly staff. Plenty of food options on menu. Games.

Catherine P.

Yelp
Aw! Only 3.8 stars? Maybe it's because I'm an Alameda native, but my family and friends LOVE TR@AM! Well, ok, we got a cold, stale pretzel a couple times and they forgot about our order once. BUT,the folks that work here are super-friendly and so are the patrons. The soft pretzel, tater tots, and brisket are our favorites. I can't drink beer, but really enjoy the Boulevardier. They're really kid-friendly here, which is a good or bad thing depending on whether or not you're a parent, lol. (We love it. Our kids like the food and the board games) This establishment is such a gem and one of my favorite places in the island!

Johnny N.

Yelp
This was a great addition to my work retreat in Oakland! It's located in Alameda, where you'll find a street full of breweries near the old airfield. The inside had a pretty small seating area, but there were quite a few wooden tables and benches that accommodates a large group, and it certainly wasn't too noisy! The beers were excellent, and most importantly, the service was top notch. Ask about the malt tours, and you'll get the best experience. There was so much to learn from and it was very interesting learning the whole process and how beer really gets made. A great experience!!

Oli L.

Yelp
$32 wagyu brisket was TOUGH and very DRY as was the chicken. Totally not worth it. But very friendly staff.

Karina G.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem within Alameda's Spirit Row. It is quite literally hidden as you cannot see it from the road, but it's worth the hunt! They really nailed that modern yet cozy vibe that some industrial spaces fail to do. It's so cozy I am considering doing a half days of work from one of booths (they might all have outlets, but can say with certainty the last one does!). They have tons of great beers on tap, some wines and a few featured cocktails. My boyfriend got their Old Fashioned, and it was superb! They also have a relatively big food menu. I would say the biggest appeal of this place is the windows on the back wall overlooking their malting floor! My pictures don't do it justice, but it's a really awesome view, making for an unique and fun drinking/dining experience!

Alex A.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years and this place is spectacular. Staff are always so kind, offering up information on the beers and always willing to answer the 100 questions my fiancé has lol. We really appreciate the patience and knowledge. These people love beer and it truly shows. They offer many different styles of beers from multiple breweries all using their malts. Incredible! Love seeing the full circle brew world. If you have the chance do NOT miss this spot.

Javier V.

Yelp
Food was so gross all three of my siblings tried the mashed potatoes and gagged tasted like they had gone bad and thrown in the microwave. Mac and cheese was horribly plain boxed Is better.... Only positive was the chips which I'm sure were thrown out of a bag. If you're a poc this place is NOT for you under-seasoned bland and foul tasting food. Beer was coo.

Darren E.

Yelp
A unique experience one normally cannot do; observe a working craft malthouse whilst drinking beers made solely from their grains. The Rake name comes from the traditional method of floor raking malt. Most malthouses are industrial or not publicly accessible, so it's a rare treat in a neat location. If you see a brewery named Almanac, just park, you're in the right place as Admiral Maltings is behind them and not visible from the street. They have a long building which used to be a plane hangar with a massive outside beer garden (well shaded) that's shared with Almanac and had plenty of open space even on a Saturday. Admiral has been here longer but it's easy to keep driving thinking your map has failed somehow, or you entered the wrong address. The employees are passionate about malting and craft beer so your experience is fun. Most breweries and taprooms have terrible food (if any) but they have a limited yet tasty menu here. The trip tip and pulled pork plates are excellent and there's also some unique food trucks in the front of Almanac. The beers are all wonderful and you can observe part of the malthouse operation from windowed seats inside, which is good if you're cold. It's quite windy but wonderful outside and relaxing. Bring warm clothes, even if it's warm in your town when you leave. It's a perfect place for a long date or meeting friends. They haven't had tours with the pandemic, but let me take some photos where they had grains being prepared for kilning so you can see what the other side of the building that's closed looks like. The grains are germinated on the floor, then kilned and dried after riding grain elevators. They have a great example hops plant outside and are dog friendly. You can see the USS Hornet from the beer garden and are on the heart of the old military base by the water. If you're a home brewer they only sell grain in 55-pound bags now; you can reserve online along with packaged beer and everything else. They have a cart to use for loading your car or lorry. I bought my very first 55-pound bag of malt and feel like a commercial craft brewer now. They will typically mill the grain for you if asked, but I haven't seen any markings on my bag and haven't opened it yet. Still, this is the best stuff you can get and sourced from responsible local farmers. You can't buy this malt in home-brew shops. It seems they used to sell smaller amounts in the past looking at empty wall dispensers like nuts at Whole Foods market, but since they seem to have so much demand and with the pandemic I can see why now. You can order malt from the bar, but, you should check what they have online first.

C J.

Yelp
Went there with a group of friends, picnic tables, nice open space, super chill and zero stress. The food, however, is mediocre, we ordered a good round of apps, all very bland, same thing can be said about their main courses (overcooked brisket, under-seasoned chicken, tasteless rice and beans...etc.). We'd happily come back again for the space, but will probably eat somewhere else beforehand.

Andre G.

Yelp
We lived in Alameda 5 years and about once a year we try it again. Thai place sucks. They have good beer and food selection but the service and execution really suck. I'm not hard to please I dont need bell and whistles but the people ar mean and times and maybe high or drunk at others. We went because next door Almanac had the whole place rented out. So this time I got a southwest salad to go with no greens just the corn and bean and dressing. The gave me a empty brown box with no salad. I didn't check until home and with a kid it's not easy to back. WTF. Your servers are rude and have offended my friends I brought in the past. I am so the duck over this place. Get it together or stop being a food place if you actually give no F's about service. Go anywhere except here.

Jeff J.

Yelp
I been here many times after walking the dog and I want to comment on something nobody mentions. The Rake is one of the few places in the East Bay that carries classic British cask-conditioned ale, the kind the jokes are about (warm, flat, etc.). If you are a fan of this beer, like me, this is the place for you. They typically have two offerings and a real beer engine to deliver it. As for food, the smoked salmon salad is killer. I also want to mention that Firebrand Baking, next door, has some delicious vegan pastries. Try the chocolate banana muffin. Cheers!

Jacob C.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place! The food is delicious! We love the pretzels and loaded tots! Service is amazing! It's a very relaxing atmosphere! They always have a wide selection of different beers and ciders!

Susan C.

Yelp
By far one of the best brewery pubs I have experienced. Could it be the Alameda vibe, great company, fantastic weather, awesome beer and fantastic food! The answer is Yes! Just a hop over from San Fran you can enjoy this open air pub! There also is indoor seating with Sports on. I ordered the rice and bean bowl with chicken. EXCELLENT! The chicken was super moist. And the bowl very savory. They have brisket sandwiches, great apps including Brussels sprouts soaked in Miso, Russian potato salad, malted wheat salad. Just go look at the menu. Simple but awesome. Not crowded on Friday for lunch but report more tomorrow as I am bringing my daughter here..

Jenna J.

Yelp
Another tasty bratwurst. Such a simple little meal but it's so dang delicious. And did I mention the potato chips?

Daniel A.

Yelp
What a gem! So happy we found this spot! Popped in for lunch and a beer. Food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the pulled pork plate which was excellent! Came with slaw and potato salad both were super good and complimented the pork nicely. We also tried a pretzel which was excellent as well! Definitely coming here more often! Indoor and outdoor seating is available. You order at the counter and go find a seat and they will bring the food to your table.

Yelp
Sadly and surprisingly it was a disappointment today. Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following: Beer - Admiral Shuaun, English Pale Ale by Laughing Monk using their Gallaghers Best Malt, excellent beer. Food: Firebrand warm soft pretzel - Better than the picture looked, but if it was baked and made in house, it would have been even better. Not sure if it is because of the bake, but the coloring on the pretzel made it look over baked? See picture. The butter on the pretzel was a hit; we used it on our rolls also. Tri tip - Of course a must try, but where is the tri tip? 5 very thinly-sliced and over-cooked pieces, see picture. Added twin firebrand bread sweet potato rolls for $4 more, which were also over baked. See picture. Chicken plate - The highlight of the meal. Of course I would have preferred more. Also all the sides were a hit! We got two coleslaws, pickled with jalapenos, and they were so good. Cajun potato salad - Halved red potatoes, not what we expected, but was also so good. Not enough quantity as after I got my 4 halves, everyone else only got 1, sorry family. Pasta salad - Substituted for one of our potato salads. Good choice as this was good also. Cocktail and wine available, but why? When the beer is so good. To-go can beers are also available. Atmosphere - Kid & dog friendly. We used to come here to drink, eat, and watch the team rake the hops, no raking today. HUGE parking lot turned into a patio, what a GREAT idea. But it's way too cold today. Did not see heated lamps...? Open 6 days a week, closed Tuesdays. See Yelp, my picture or website for hours as they ALL differ slightly. Easy parking, across the street. Service - Counter service at the bar. Below average, the team did not seem happy today...? Could not get eye contact or greetings. Not even a thank you after we paid... The person who brought us our food was better, got us extra plates and utensils, thank you. Events available to be hosted here. Price - $60 + tip, not a complaint, but none of your plate prices matched your online menu??? Maybe your paper menu had different prices? I did not check. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2018 (2017 since growing your malt) We have been customers since day 1. Can I suggest visiting your neighbor, Almanac?

Gwyneth M.

Yelp
My husband ordered the tri tip sandwich on the recommendation of the bartender. Not only was it mediocre, but it gave him awful food poisoning. Plus, the brewery next door was packed to the brim, very lively, great atmosphere. Meanwhile the Rake was almost a ghost town.

Lexie S.

Yelp
I decided to write this review because I am currently staring at the leftover malt butter that was served with my warm pretzel and I am holding back the urge to Jell-O shot it right back into my mouth because it was BEYOND AMAZING and I would hate to waste such a gift. Get the pretzel, get the jugo Nuevo and get here if you're looking for your next spot to take the family, to take a date or to just take yourself! Also shout out to the staff for the quick service. Everything that could go right, did!

William L.

Yelp
Food and service has fallen off a cliff in the last year. Two of us arrived at 12:30 on a weekend when the place was completely empty and after 45 minutes of watching people ordering and receiving food I asked the server when our food was coming out. She argued there must have been 30 tickets ahead of us despite the place being entirely empty before us and watching a dozen tables coming in after us getting their food first. Miraculously after that our food appeared in 2 minutes and being generous was at best best room temperature, clearly either sitting for 30 minutes or thrown in a microwave for 15 seconds when they realized they screwed up. We both took one bite of our meals and gave them back because of how cold and bad it was, they only were willing to comp one of them despite how terrible it was.

Leslie L.

Yelp
LOVE this place. We were actually planning to go to another cocktail bar, but it happened to be closed, so I found this spot nearby and so glad we came here instead! It's a nice and welcoming area with plenty of outdoor picnic tables and a couple of indoor seats. The outdoor tables are great for large groups. If you sit inside at one of their booths, you can get a view of all the grain which was super cool. We went on a Saturday, but saw they they offer tours on Sundays. This is a wonderful place to hang out with friends or have a nice date. I started off with a high ball followed by the horchata nitro brew, both drinks were excellent! My partner got 2 of their dark ales/lagers, I can't remember the names, but he enjoyed them too. There is an option to sample the beers first if you're unsure before committing to a glass which was a nice touch. My favorite part of this place though was the soft pretzel...specifically the malt butter that it came with! It was so good we got it twice. The pretzel comes out soft and warm with beer cheese and malt butter. I wish they would sell the butter separately, I'd totally buy it!

Cassandra K.

Yelp
From the moment I walked up to the counter, I knew That this place was not going to let me down. Tons of spirit drinks /draft beers. The food choices are plentiful. I got the tri tip plate and it did not disappoint. Meat tender and juicy, potato salad had a nice kick and the coleslaw was just right. Great service, food came quick and plenty of inside or outside seating! It was Sunday afternoon at 2 and a dj was outside playing music. Had a great view of the USS Hornet from my table as well. Dog/cat/kid friendly What more could you want?

Lawrence H.

Yelp
MENU AND FOOD: They offer a variety of beers, ranging from lagers, sours, IPA and stouts, along with other food/brewery favorites! SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service was friendly and attentive. Their indoor decor is appropriate and appealing. They have indoor and outdoor seating. PARKING: They have plenty of parking in adjacent lots. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We had a few of their beers along with their pretzel and cheese, which was delicious. It's a great place to hangout and catch up with friends!

Tracy D.

Yelp
I think I shouldn't have come here after Almanac and after drinking Bubbly. Probably should come here first or on a separate day. Had whiskey as I'm not a beer drinker and husband had an IPA. Whiskey tasted good especially with the pretzel and and cookie. I'm looking forward to trying it again another time.

Melissa C.

Yelp
I've never felt so unwelcome in an establishment than this place. If the woman taking our order would have at least TRIED to smile? Then we were totally ignored while the staff gave out small beer tastings to their employees and friends and left us out. We were sitting right next to them. Never were asked if we were ok or needed anything else. Too bad. The place is nice inside and out. We should have known it wasn't going to be good because Almanac next door was packed and there was no one at this place. Oh well. Now we know to never come back. Last but not least, don't try the Cabernet. I know this is a beer place but this is California. You can at least have a decent red if you are going to serve it.

Mary j.

Yelp
Nice people, good beer. The food was not good. I had the bbq chicken plate. It was soooo dry and clearly not fresh. The coleslaw was good, but cilantro laden, which I did not like or expect. It would be good to mention on the menu. The mash potato and gravy was lukewarm and a bit bland. I would go back for the beer, but eat elsewhere.

Greg T.

Yelp
Service is horrible. Unless you're a regular. Otherwise they won't engage in conversation. No explanations of beers. Barely acknowledged we were there. Ambiance is just not there. Not a place I would come back. Too many other options in the area to choose from.

C. K.

Yelp
This is a review of the food at the Rake only. I didn't try any of the drinks at Admiral Maltings. I ordered the tri tip plate. I was excited and couldn't wait to try some good, barbequed tri tip. When they set the plate down, I honestly didn't know what I was looking at. It didn't look like any tri tip that I had ever seen. It was thinly sliced and looked like deli meat. Not exaggerating at all. It was horrible and had no flavor. I can't believe that they charged over $25 for that platter. I also paid extra to substitute tater tots for the potato salad. How can you mess up tater tots? They did. It didn't taste fresh at all. It tasted like freezer burned taters that were heated up in a microwave. I was so looking forward to coming here, sitting outside and checking this place out. Now I know, and don't need to return for the restaurant ever again.

Genevieve V.

Yelp
Excellent tri tip sandwich! Go for it and enjoy with your company. My family and friends had lunch and really enjoyed the food and wine. Staff servers are very courteous and friendly. After the meal, you can walk around the new park very close to it. Lots of nice places to see around the place! Excellent

Holly E.

Yelp
The beers are food are great! Really can't ask for a better weekend spot to meet up with friends. Tons of outdoor seating too. Main recommendation is that the food line gets super long and takes some time - although the wait is definitely worth it. We got the cheeseburger, salad, avocado bean salsa and queso. I also got the Nashville hot chicken on my salad...warning it is HOT! Even my husband couldn't eat it so I would recommend just getting the plain fried chicken on it instead.

Yelp
First time here on Saturday 8/2/20 Awesome weather in Alameda and the outdoor seating area lured us in. We were able to find parking easily in front of the venue. Walked up and there are social distancing directions/rules on the asphalt floor. There was a line to order but not too long of a line. When it was our turn to order we did explain it was our first time there. The person then took the time to tell us that they offer beer (of course) whiskey and wine, however by law they need to sell food with the order. No problem they do offer light snacks/and also some more hearty ones. We took our drinks and chips to the outside seating area. I saw employees wiping down tables and benches.... YAY thank you. They have a pretty big seating area, covid precautions taken, dog friendly and kid friendly. Only thing is there is no tents or umbrellas available to shelter you from the sun. Cool vibe, no drama, there is a live DJ spinning records. Over all this is a cool place to enjoy some drinks and hang out... I will come back for sure.

Yelp
Food is tasty - I had the bbq - and service was relatively quick especially for a weekend evening. Good selection of beers. Plus, there are board games free to use. Nice atmosphere. Pricing was reasonable.

Yelp
We were here about 3 years ago (before Covid) and the place was packed and jumping- I've been anxiously awaiting my return so I could pick up more malts. We walked in today and the whole atmosphere was off... checked the malt selection and it is very minimal, empty tubs or no tubs at all. No large bags for dispensing, no Admiral Maltings stamps on bags, barely anyone enjoying themselves... HEY, what the hell has happened here???

Yelp
Still as good as the last time I was here. The pretzel with malt butter is just as amazing. Definitely check out one of the booths inside where you have a view of the malting floor. Cheers!

Yelp
So glad we discovered this place! My husband just started working in the area so finding new places is always a must! In line they had menus on clipboards hanging. I decided to look online and found the menu to be pretty straightforward. Food menu is small but a good variety! We came on a Friday evening. Most tables were occupied but luckily we scored a table on the side which also worked out because it was away from the main seating so my son can roam freely without too much foot traffic. On each table you'll find a QR code with the menu and hand sanitizer. Before we seated the kind worker cleaned our table and very thoroughly at that! Throughout the night we ordered a good variety of food and beer. There wasn't a bad dish and we devoured eeevvverryything! Whether it was the bratwurst, succotash and macaroni and cheese, everything was amazing!! It was so delicious and fresh! Beer wise, so much to choose from and everything is local! They do offer wine and spirits but I preferred the beer, plus such great ones to chose from! The true highlight of our night was the impeccable service! Everyone was great and really went above and beyond. At one point they even just took my order without having to stay in line because my little one was all over the place! All around, great service, yummy food and awesome people! We will definitely be back, often!

Yelp
Liked this place a lot. The BBQ is really solid which is not something you often find in the Bay Area. Fancy drinks. Cool atmosphere.

Yelp
You definitely don't want to miss this free tour. This is definitely one of the more unique places I have visited in the San Francisco area. They have a tap room, but the main attraction is actually a malt house. They set up free tours and they show you how they germinate the barley and turn it into malt. It's actually quite a big operation. I've been on the tour several times now, and I still enjoy hearing about it. They explain exactly how they take the raw barley, germinate it, put it in a kiln, put it in huge bags and ship it to various breweries around the country. You even get to taste some roasted barley! Seriously, one of the more enjoyable, unique events in this area. And if you can believe it, free!
