The Ram

A timeless Sun Valley classic. The Ram delivers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Service was warm, attentive, and professional without feeling rushed. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed evening or special occasion. Highly recommend the Idaho Rack of Lamb and the Japanese Wagyu Hot Rock, both were absolutely phenomenal.

Our meal at The Ram was hands down the best of our week-long trip around the state. The outdoor patio is absolutely lovely, and the live piano player was such a nice touch. Service was very quick and attentive. The daily special was Zwiebelrostbraten which was incredible—so well-seasoned and unbelievably tender meat. The Iberico Pork Schnitzel was also excellent.

The atmosphere was good. Service was not. Food was meh. Regret going there. Sun Valley is a great place to visit with much better options especially when it comes to service. Our waiter was not helpful, left us sitting for a very long time, and we had to ask someone else for the check to finally leave. Left hungry and won’t go back!

Absolutely fantastic!! Our server Micah was superb! The manager Mr. Peterson was also great and extremely helpful and hard working. The food...well you couldn't find a better beef tenderloin, truly fabulous! We had the fondue for an appetizer which was also delicious! We highly recommend eating here...we look forward to coming back.

This place was wonderful they told us the history of the town and the ski resort. They had a wonderful live pianist, who is so kind, really made the atmosphere so amazing. and the food was very delicious.

Made reservations to have dinner at the Ram, and I'm glad we did. This was really the only time we spent at the resort, and the feel of the Ram definitely gave you glimpses into the history of the place. Staff was exceptional and had great information about the menu options. I got the special of the night (pork schnitzel with a cranberry relish, potatoes and an amazing pickled cabbage) while my wife had trout. Both dishes were expertly prepared and really delicious. Moreover, the portions were rather generous. There was a great ambiance with the piano music, views into the kitchen, and just the wonderful charm of the room. Yes, it isn't cheap, but it is worth it to experience the Sun Valley Resort in all its Glory!

Food was good but the entire experience is focused on the quality of appearance above all else. Of course it’s Sun Valley so the pricing is about twice what it should be. The garlic and onion soup is a great example, great taste but $18 for a bowl of liquids. No substance at all. It was all extremely underwhelming.

Dinner in the bar. Piano player. Toffee sticky pudding was superb. Filet very tasty and the pork schnitzel was cooked perfectly.

It's Open. It's Open. Don't miss the Ram which opened in 1937. Wednesday night is one of the heritage dinner, Schnitzel, and it's like you are in Bavaria Germany. Among lots of other amazing plates, a beautiful music from the piano man or hitting the bar, all adds to this amazing culinary experience. Go and enjoy!

The food was just okay, but the portions were very small and overpriced. We ordered the Halibut and found it to be mushy, chalky, and nearly tasteless. The ambiance was just okay. Not really sure what the waitress did, she's more of an expediter. Strolling back to tell someone else to bring a $20 sliver of cheesecake to table 20 so we could receive it 30 minutes later. Whatever ! $300 bill and I felt like going for a burger afterward. This one isn't good enough to recommend. Head over to the Pioneer Saloon instead, better food, prices, and ambiance.

The food is old and weathered as is the environment and setting. High prices for small portions of overcooked and poorly paired foods. Be prepared for a 2 hour experience as service is good although the kitchen is slow. This restaurant is in serious need of a refresh into the new century in every way. Rubber chicken w candied carrots was barely edible, w little sauce to help get it down. The crab cake although ample crab was downing in an overly sweet mango sauce that killed what could have been great crab flavor. Warm tomato salad - um, just pass. I really cannot say anything good about the good at The Ram so I will leave it here.

Great Experience, Great food, Dessert was out of this world! The staff was very nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great dining experience at The Ram. Our server was attentive and made some excellent recommendations. We had salad, trout, onion soup and fondue. Everything was perfect. Larry the pianist played some beautiful renditions of our favorite songs and shared some funny anecdotes as well. This was by far the best dining experience we had on our short trip to Sun Valley!

Beautiful ambiance, delicious food, excellent service, wonderful pianist (Larry) and a truly great experience! The Ram is only open Sun-Wed, so we had to get in on our latest SV trip. The staff is so kind! Decor is warm, cozy, pleasant. Food is fantastic--the foie gras was excellent as were the duck and the scallop appetizer. Mr. Larry on the piano was great--there was an article even featured about him in the local paper.

What a great evening at the Ram. Or should I say the bar outside of the Ram. Pro tip: we had a reservation at the ram, but you can order the same food at the bar without a reservation. More laid back and still gorgeous. Great ambience. We started with the crab cakes and the octopus. Both were very flavorful. We liked them both. Fresh bread they brought out was also yum. We then had the fondue with veggies and tenderloin. Fondue was great. Filling and the cheese mixture was top notch. Enough stinky cheese in that fondue to make it flavorful but very smooth. Dessert was the cheesecake and the bread pudding. Service was really good. We watched a football game during the whole thing. We'll be back to the ram next time we're at sun valley. Great food after a long ski day.

Fondu is a must and with so many options. Beautiful restaurant. Impeccable friendly service. My family and I had a reservation here, but when we came earlier, they couldn't seat us so we sat in the lounge. Way prefer it. Loved being by the bar and other tables having birthday parties and the USC game was on. Get the fondu. Wow. Loved dipping potatoes a, pickles, bread, mushrooms, tenderloin, broccoli, and so many other goods. Dessert we got the cheesecake and a cake of some kind. Both so nice to share. We also got the octopus and crab cake. I loved both but the octopus better cuz the sauces were delectable. Jordan was our server. So nice and friendly. Told us about his life in New York. Regularly visited to refill drinks. Loved this place and if I ever return, it's an easy revisit here!

They tried to overcharge.... For ice.. $4 for ice in my martini. Yep.. Food was subpar for the price. Manager stopped at all tables but mine.. too young for his taste. I wasn't ordering $300 bottle of wine so just got ignored. Do not recommend this place at all.

My friend and I came down to the Ram from our room at the Inn for a quick dinner. Most other places were booked, but we were lucky to find two seats off on the side of the bar. Everything was well spaced out for Covid restrictions, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant and not too busy. Our server/bartender Kira was awesome! She offered a tasting of different sparkling wines for my friend to choose from and then recommended some great food options. She took great care of us and made sure our glasses were always full. She made us feel right at home with her excellent customer service and kindness. Plus the fondue and dipping foods was an excellent choice for dinner! It was my first time having fondue (I think), but I will definitely remember this time now! It had such good flavor and was definitely enough to share between two people for not a lot of money!

Had unbelievably great meal with friends at The Ram, a beautiful & classy restaurant at the Sun Valley Lodge & Resort. Our server, Fausto, was friendly & attentive. Manager/Sommelier, Buddy, was on point with his wine recommendations. I had trout which likely was the best I ever had. Everyone in our party raved about their food. Larry playing the piano was the perfect entertainment. Hats off to the chef & staff for knocking it out of the ballpark! We will be back at The Ram next trip to Sun Valley. Thank you! Thank you! Delicious! Classic Sun Valley experience. Chef Adam came out to greet us at the end of our meal, the waiters and staff were so friendly! Highly recommend - all the dishes were excellent with a little Spanish flair!

We dined here as a group of four during our visit to Sun Valley for a ski trip. It's a very storied restaurant with a ton of history. A bit pricey, but the food and service were both excellent. I would totally go back and highly recommend it. (Reservations are a must!)

Absolutely not worth the money. We expected The Ram to be a classy, upscale eating experience. Instead, it is overpriced, with a limited and expensive menu. Obviously, with the captive audience of the Sun Valley Lodge and Sun Valley Inn, they do not put the effort into the experience you would hope. While our waitress was friendly and mostly attentive (beverage refills had to be requested), the language barrier made it difficult to discuss the menu with regards to a food allergy. We started with the Hamachi Crudo at $25. While it was tasty, it was only 6 tiny bites, not even 2 oz of yellowtail. For our entrees, my husband and I both ordered the Friday "Heritage dinner", stuffed sole, only to learn later that it contained my food allergen. Instead, I ordered the duck, with farroto and acorn squash, in its place. Both my farroto, and my husband's haricots verts (yes, a fancy name for green beans), were under-cooked. The flavor of my husband's basmati pilaf was overpowered with the taste of coconut. The portion size for the sole was maybe 3-4oz of fish with roughly 2 tablespoons of crab stuffing..... For $34. The cost of the entrees would not be an issue had the taste and quality been on par with what you would expect from a restaurant established in the '30s in an upper scale resort town. Naturally, duck tends to be more fatty than other birds and fowl. That said, the flavor of my duck was so overpowered by that flavor that, indeed, an hour later I still had the taste and texture of duck fat in my mouth. Our meal total, with food, drinks and tip, was over $200 for two people. Again, it is not about the money when the taste and quality warrant. Please, do not waste your time or money. We went because it was in the hotel and we didn't want to get bundled up to go back into the freezing cold. In hindsight, we should have.

Brave is by far the best employee you could have every hired! His attitude and his eagerness to help your customers is amazing and I would love to have an associate work so hard!!! Oh thank you Brave for the suggestion on the food it too was amazing!

If the historic wood paneling and original hand carved doors from the 40s don't impress you, the food and service certainly will. Celebrities like Arnold, Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood have eaten here, not to mention the billionaires who flock here in July. I had dinner here as a part of an engineer conference so I was with a large group, then I joined another table and stayed at the bar until closing. The cloud soft bread was squaw and mild sourdough mini loafs, baked fresh and served hot from the bakery behind their bar. Butter was chilled firm and had seasoned salt on the top, my colleague scraped all the salt off when he buttered his bread and complained of salty butter which was his fault. The tuna poke starter was seasoned perfect, fresh, and they demonstrated they can serve poke bowls better than a dedicated poke restaurant. The steak tartare looked like a work of art, and bursting with a fresh garden and citrus aroma with savory buttery texture. I wasn't a fan of the crab cake. The frozen crab meat lacked flavor, and the seasoning overpowered the dish. The onion soup was fantastic though tricky to eat without having long strings of cheese connecting your mouth to your bowl. The crouton was a tad salty, but complimented the savory soup. I had the 30 day dry aged ribeye medium rare. I am 100% sure my steak was dry aged all 30 of those days from the flavor. The spinalis is my favorite part and dry aging unfortunately requires slightly trimming of the spinalis due to the dry age process. Though this is always the first part I eat. 10/10... An almost nutty earthy savory taste, with a close but not quite "liver" beef flavor to some bites. The fats are tender and the proteins are tender but not mushy... so the perfect texture. Salted perfect though they did provide an elk's horn cup of extra coarse kosher salt if needed. The next part I ate was the longissimus, and it was like eating a perfect prime rib that doesn't need au jus or horse radish. The veggies on the side were not worthy of a nomination. Carrots could have been cooked more, and the texture tasted pre-frozen. The mashed potatoes had crispy smoked bacon in and had good flavor, the texture was gummy/goey and not fluffy. The cheese cake dessert was a dissected cheese cake. The "cake" part was dry and powdery and the quenelle cheese cake piece was sour cream soft and it was like eating an uncooked ingredient instead of a custard. I was disappointed but I was just picking at it from somebody else's plate who didn't like it at all. Service was professional and polite. The servers truly have genuinely kind personalities and it showed. So the really good entree and service made up for the mediocre small dishes. My overall experience including the time at the bar results in the hands down 5 star rating. That night there was depressed crying, profanity, and obnoxiously loud shouting and the servers handled everything with an understanding. Looking forward to coming here again.

Elagantly Excellent Service and Food for a Reasonable 'Sun-Valley' Price. Stayed at the Sun Valley Resort for a conference over the weekend, and on my last night in Sun Valley dined at the upscale Ram restaurant attached to the Inn. Admittedly, upon first glance of the menu I saw nothing but $$$. But after a few days of living the "High-Life" and paying far too much for everything, the options seemed a bit more reasonable. Especially if you order their 'Heritage Option' of the day, bolstering some of their best menus options for $25 Special. Just so happen, the day I visited Ram the Heritage Option was an Aged Prime Rib with Whipped Idaho Potatoes and Charred Broccolini. First off, the service was excellent. Attentive and informed, my waitress Brenda and her fellow servers were charming and quick with every action. When I first sat down at my table, I noticed a slight wobby in the table as I leaned forward. Without batting an eye, one of the service staff noticed the issue and quickly came to my table to fix it. In addition to never letting my glass of water get below 50%, the service staff and especially Brenda did everything with a smile and grace. Top notch service from a top notch restaurant. After ordering, I was treated to a loaf of fresh pumpernickle and sourdough bread, served with rich creamy butter topped with smoked kosher salt. An Excellent tease to the main course...The Prime Rib. Cooked to perfection, served with a beautifully seasoned au jus, the prime rib was excellent! Enhanced by the creamed horseradish and complimented by the whipped potatoes and charred broccolini, my meal was the perfect capstone to the weekend. For excellent service and tasty food, I highly recommend checking out the Ram Restaurant. At the very least (and those on a budget), it's a wonderful place to relax and be pampered for once.

I cut my hand on a shard of glass in a booth, our meal took an hour and a half to come out, then the manager tried to blame it on two of our party being 3 minutes late. He didn't even apologize for my injury and made remark at us on our way out. In summary the manager was a TOTAL ASSHOLE. But our server was very nice though and the food was good. The experience was so bad I felt compelled to join yelp just to review this.

The ram is amazing and Fish is the best chef I've ever encountered!!! He is so kind and accommodating and most importantly TALENTED!!!! It is always a treat to eat his creations.

I love their fondue!! They also have great salads, and if the restaurant is too full, you can order to the bar area. Good service and good atmosphere

Great service. Excellent food. Oh and the BEST crab cake EVER. The bartender can make any drink & has a few mocktail creations as well. Great restaurant!

I wanted to give "The Ram" a 10, but I'm limited to 5. If you want to feel like a celebrity movie star, the service and ambiance are that good. We are visitors and this was our last night in Sun Valley, so we wanted a place where we could dress up. Hubby wore a suit and tie and I wore a glittery outfit. In a few days is our 47th anniversary. If you have an anniversary, birthday, special occasion, or really, really want too impress a date or business guest, this is the place. The ambiance is incredible, with hardwood paneling and a baby grand piano, which was played through dinner. It is Christmas, and we looked out on a winter wonderland of lighted trees. I had lamb and hubby had the New York steak. I was embarrassed, but the lamb was so good I could not help chewing and sucking on the bones. We will remember this place for a long time. It is not for every night, but when you really want to do it up right, come here.

The Ram service and atmosphere made our 31st anniversary fantastic. The staff went out of their way to make our evening special. The Hungarian ghoulish braised beef was tender and cooked to perfection. Special thanks to our loving family who helped make it all happen

We are visiting from San Diego and though the food was amazing, you don't get very much of it for the price. The $19 scallop appetizer only had two scallops...luckily there were only two of us. The Tuesday lamb special was also delicious but not very much food. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would probably come back but looking forward to trying some other restaurants in Ketchum first.

Nostalgia meets awesome execution. This place has so many great things going for it. My favorite is both the perfectly cooked mains (we ordered 4 different dishes) and the value for great old school hits off the heritage menu (schnitzel, Goulash, etc.). I strongly suggest you plan a dinner here when in town. I'll be back!

Whether you're waiting for a table for dinner at The Ram, or just drinks and apps with friends, The Ram Bar is the place to go. Quintessential Sun Valley

We've spent time in Sun Valley seasonally for the last five years. We decided to shake things up last night and deviated from our list of favorite restaurants by visiting the Ram. Only upon arriving in the parking lot did we check Yelp and see that it averaged just three stars. Somewhat disappointed, we decided to make the best of it and were very nicely surprised. We had been in the Ram previously for drinks, so knew what to expect in terms of decor and ambiance. As we reviewed the menu, we ordered a dirty martini and moscow mule, both of which were very good. For starters, we ordered the peach and burrata salad and the trout appetizer. The salad was exceptional; light and delicious. The trout was also very good. Between courses, we nibbled on a tasty bread basket they brought to our table which featured three different types of bread. For the main course, we ordered the chicken breast and trout. The chicken was tasty, juicy and perfectly prepared. The trout was also excellent as was the wild rice risotto which accompanied it. Both dishes exceeded our expectations, especially after reading the Yelp reviews just prior to our dinner there. Finally, we shared a dessert which consisted of three small scoops of ice cream, each a different flavor. Nothing much, but a nice way to finish the meal. Our server was genuinely friendly and attentive and, while the prices aren't inexpensive, the bill for dinner was about what you'd expect at any high end resort like Sun Valley. All in all, it was one of the better meals we've ever had anywhere in Sun Valley or Ketchum and much better than we had anticipated. We'll definitely be back.

I was to lecture the next day to an association of medical professionals that were having a convention at the Inn. I had not eaten all day as it had been a hectic process of getting to this resort from my home in rural Western Washington. When I arrived I realized I had no vehicle as I flew in and took the shuttle to the Inn. This is a quiet type ski village. Not Whistler! I expected I would have to wait till morning to find a decent meal. But, boy was I wrong. After getting lucky that a reservation had just cancelled I was shown to a window booth the looked out on white light lit trees and glowing soft snow surrounding the village walk. Jan, the waiter, was helpful and just engaging enough to be remarkably helpful and respectful enough to allow me to work on my mental lecture notes with minimal necessary interactions. He was pleasant and, though having been called to head the management of 2 tables of 20 guests, provided me desert options and delivery in a timely and professional manner. The Food was very very good. I would have said exceptional but I had eaten di at two Michelin stared restaurants in Las Vegas the weekend before, my standards were unfair. The crisp artichoke salad I ache for, even as I write this review. The lamb shank fell off of the bone and, though a bit dry, was flavorful and attractive. By the time I headed back to my room the place was so filled with boisterous, yet joyful laughter and talk. I dead-ended 2 times because of extra chairs that I had to reroute to reach the hostess again. My close accommodations was a plus and the quiet place to refine my talk was appreciated. Nicely done Sun Valley Inn and Mr Jan of The Ram.

The Ram restaurant was booked so we settled in their spacious bar area with plenty of tables and same menu. The food was meh, nothing extraordinary and pricey. The burger and fries were decently tasty but the trout was bland.

Buttery! Wow! The service was outstanding and friendly, the wine was good and reasonably priced. The food was terrible, so much butter... After three bites my finance' and I felt like an anchor was weighing us down. Felt overfull for hours after. I recooked the leftovers on a pan in the oven and drained off all the fat/butter. The food was marginally better after the butter drain. Worst $200 dinner ever...

We had 20 people there. Boy did they do a wonderful job. Lovely appetizers in the bar. Great cocktails. Then onto a private room. They served beautiful food timely with very efficient nice staffing. The restaurant is gorgeous. The staff great and the terrific. What more could you ask for.

Just went to the new Ram Bar in the Sun Valley Village. Good ambiance and decor. Good places to sit. But very expensive and skimpy drinks. Only 3 beers on tap. One craft IPA and two other crappy beers. Full 15 buck glasses of wine look like half glasses. Service not great either. It took forever to get the bill. Didn't try the food yet but looks like it could be good.

The Ram offers fine dining with prices commensurate. The food and service are of respectable quality. But what I found highly disagreeable, almost insulting, was their wine list. It is dominated with higher-end fine bottlings with prices to match. Many, if not most of the offerings are over $100 and extend to as much as $220. When offerings wines of this quality and expense, the diner should reasonably expect to be told the vintage year of offered bottling. But Ram's wine list does no such thing. This practice one expects in budget eateries. But it is incomprehensible to me that a supposedly fine dining restaurant would not tell you up front the vintage of $200 wine. Ram offers even more exclusive and expensive wines ($500+) in a separate reserve listing that does specify vintage. But no such information is provided on their regular wine list. Our server tried to explain that they "don't know what the year of the wines are that are shipped to them". It would seem that someone should be taking inventory. And while the server was more than willing to check on individual bottles for the vintage, sending someone to investigate the production year of even 2 or 3 bottles is a major inconvenience to a diner and waste of time for both the server and the dining party. And even then, it makes the wine selection process problematic. This omission undermines the professional integrity of a restaurant purporting to offer fine dining. I left the meal with a sense of disappointment. The Sun Valley resort has made great strides in improving it food service in recent years. This tells me they still have a ways to go.

The service was so so, the food was not that great but very expensive. We ordered the ribeye but got the filet. So the sides etc were not what we ordered. On top of that the food was cold, and when we mentioned the mix up with our steaks, she apologized, but since the service was so slow, we were not about to send it back and wait for more cold steak. Over priced, slow and lousy food. Do not waste your time or money here. There are so many other places to eat in town, that it is worth not staying and eating here.

We went to the Ram for dinner and it did not dissappoint. The menu was great, the food was delicious and the service was stellar. They had a live piano player the whole time, which really added to the ambiance. It's expensive, but you know that going in to it. We would definitely come back when we come to Sun Valley again. There are a lot of places to eat around and in ketchum, but the rich character of this restaurant and ambiance make it incredibly special.

Delicious cozy and consistent. Great friendly service. Amazing quality for the price. Red trout and king salmon are incredible. Gorgeous ambience. A tad loud and could perhaps use an acoustic treatment. However the value is outstanding. Always a treat and highly recommended!

This was probably one of my favorite places in Sun Valley. The Fondue, ribeye, and Carmel dessert were amazing! Fish and the team did a great job 10 out of 10. We will be back!

The food was good, the service was not. Half empty restaurant and we got the table in the walkway that everyone got to bump into ad they walked by, even with a rsvp. As I said, the food was good. I ate the Idaho ruby trout, all of it. My wife had the thyme and rosemary chicken. Ambience and decor are nice, friendly atmosphere. Fix a couple hiccups and they would get a better rating.

No, you don't want to go here because it takes 1h15m to get your food after you're seated and it's overpriced even for a couple used to San Francisco prices. Salad and entrée for 2 people without wine cost $105, but you don't get the $105 experience. We got a reservation on Open Table and we were seated as expected. It took 20 minutes before a waiter even got us menus then another 10 minutes before we could order and get a bread basket (the bread was cold ... not an absence of warmed upness-- it was like refrigerator cold) . The food didn't hit the table until 1h15m after we sat down. The only reason why this didn't get a 0 star (well, Yelp doesn't allow it, but let's pretend), is that the manager felt bad for us and several other tables and comp'd us soup in the meantime while we waited for food. The food was decently tasty, but a little over seasoned. Guinea hen wrapped in prosciutto tasted good, but the dish seemed confused between a savory or sweet objective. The Sturgeon had great taste tuning, but was under-cooked so it looked like raw fish in the middle. I would not recommend this as part of your Sun Valley experience unfortunately. - K

The service was absolutely spectacular, top notch that you would expect at a five-star resturant. The food, unfortunately, was mediocre at best with an abundance of strong vinegar and wine sause without any other meaningful seasonings. With the single exception of the crab cakes (which were wonderful) the chicken, steak, and pasta managed to be both unseasoned and sour.

We had dinner at The Ram this week and it was nothing short of absolutely amazing all the way around. Our dinner began with a very knowledgeable manager, Michael, who took the time to personally walk us through the extensive wine list with detailed descriptions of each of the wines. His descriptions and stories behind the wines was not only impressive but left us feeling confident in our choices for each course. Next our server came to the table, he was polite and prompt with each course of the meal. We then had a visit from the chef, Adam Fischer who took us on a trip around the world explaining the origins of ingredients of each of our dishes. We chose the fondue for an appetizer- with its mixture of fontina and gruyere was delicious and the vegetables and potatoes were cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the Spanish octopus which the way they prepared it left the octopus meat tender and not the usual rubbery consistency sometimes found with octopus. For our main course we chose the Iberico Pork Chop and Wagyu Steak. Both were amazing and cooked to perfection. We sampled everything on the dessert menu and were left in a state of bliss. What a fantastic experience!!!

We had a great meal, a bit above average in price, with typical ski resort friendly but unsophisticated service. My steak was perfect, I don't remember what everyone else had, but we came out very happy. Some of the portions were absurdly large. I would recommend the Ram to anyone. Part of the sun valley co, restaurants.

Our server was a true professional as were most of her colleagues. Fondue was fun. Sturgeon special cooked perfectly. Not cheap and the booths are not comfy if you're over 5'6" tall. A great experience with a lot of character. I also like Gretchen's at the Lodge but it is more generic.

Everyone's meal looked stellar and they said it was delicious. However my gnocchi wasn't great at all. I've made gnocchi from scratch and it was like soft pillows melting in my mouth. These small squares of whatever it was wasn't good at all. But I'm coming from making gnocchi with my Italian cooking instructor who has 3 International cooking schools. Other than that the ambiance was nice, waiter working hard and attentive.

We stayed at the Sun Valley Inn which is where the The Ram is located and ended up having dinner there the majority of the time. The service, food and atmosphere are wonderful. Highlights include the fondue (my husband is Swiss and he thought it was one of the best he's had!), the Idaho trout, cod, and caramel dessert. Basically everything we had was great! Especially love the Heritage dinners. Looking forward to coming back again!

The Ram is part of the Sun Valley Company group of restaurants. Over the years it has at times been pretty good. That is not the case this year. The Ram is expensive, with entrees in the low $30s to upper $40s. For this price you would expect very nice ambience and excellent service, along with outstanding food. The ambience is OK, Early American decor, nothing special, but with linen and silver on the tables. Not a problem. Service was below par. The first thing the waitress said was sorry, we're very busy, and will do the best we can. The dining room was half empty, but there were people eating on the patio. How is this busy? For this price the restaurant should insure there are ample servers and cooks to cope with the customers. And the service was confused. The waitress was sort of friendly, but not someone who made you happy to be there. There was no salt or pepper shaker on the table. The fondue heating fuel started leaking onto the table cloth, and we had to blow it out to prevent a fire. The waitress said that was the 2nd one that leaked that evening. There were 6 of us, and when the entrees came it took 4 - 5 minutes before we all were served. Some of the food was cold instead of warm. The menu is very limited, at least for me - not much that appealed. Some of the entrees were quite good, so that is a plus. The dessert was awful - a complete lack of flavor. Overall The Ram is too expensive, with poor service, and some good food. Not worth returning, If Sun Valley Lodge wants to be a five star destination, they should get their act together and provide dining worthy of the prices they charge.

Loved the food, excellent service and the peaches and cream were AMAZING! Nice tunes on the piano.

I have been going to Sun Valley with my family my entire life but it wasn't until just recently that I ate at the Ram. My wife and I ordered the cheese fondue appetizer and that was wonderful! I ordered the lamb shank and she ordered the steak for our entrees. I must say, the steak was the better of the two; the meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork. We were there for our anniversary and the manager sent over a complimentary bottle of sparkling cider, so that was a very nice gesture. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, although as somewhere for a couple and not for those on a strict budget.

French. Well executed in Sun Valley way. Bistro for the Ski set.---parents with kids in tow. Fondue delicious. One of the finest veal chops i have ever eaten, and I live in the steakhouse/fine Italian capital of the world. Service a little distracted but friendly. My wife's shrimp and scallop saute was excellent...wonder where they flew the shellfish in from? I would go again on my next visit to SV
