The Ranch Sports Grill

My wife and I have gone to Ranch Sports Grill for date night on Friday nights numerous times. However, a few weeks ago, things went differently than usual. When I asked for the check at the end of our meal the server pulled out the credit card reading device (it had a screen) and asked for my card. Instinctually I just handed him my card, assuming he was just placing it in the unit and allowing me to review the bill and complete the transaction. Instead he handed me the device already advanced to the tip screen. However, thankfully I noticed at the top of the screen it listed an amount higher than expected for our bill. $46.52 for a hamburger and a nachos appetizer. I mentioned to him that I didn’t think the amount was right, and he sheepishly explained that there’s a forced gratuity of 18% automatically applied to all bills that night. It seemed apparent he was a little embarrassed that I noticed, especially since he brought me straight to the tip screen, obviously hoping that I would double tip him. I explained that I would be happy to leave a gratuity, but that I did not agree with a gratuity being forced upon me, especially when no notice had been given. He said he would have to go get his supervisor. When the supervisor arrived I explained that we had been there several times before on Friday evenings, and that there had never been a forced gratuity before. He explained that sometimes they do it, and sometimes they don’t. I explained to him that there was no notice given. He said it was posted at the entrance. I explained to him that we saw no such notice. He left, and walked over to the entrance to look around. When he came back he confirmed that there wasn’t a sign at the entrance, but that there were signs taped up behind the bar. I explained that (obviously) we were not at the bar, and that we were in the dining area. He said that it still counted, that the bill was what it was, and that since they already scanned my card that the bill, along with the forced gratuity, was already paid for anyway. I never agreed to this, nor did I sign for anything. I explained that this was inappropriate, and that I would escalate the issue. I called the next day to speak with a manager, but I was told she wouldn’t be available until after the weekend. Then I called on Monday, and was told she might be in later in the day. I called again, and apparently she still wasn’t in. I tried the next day, left my contact information, asking for a call back whenever she got it. I never received a call. I called several more times throughout the week, and was never able to reach anyone I could discuss the matter with. Ultimately I had to file a report with Visa to resolve the issue that way. It’s unfortunate, as we really wanted to support a business in our community. We sincerely want Sports Ranch Grill to succeed, but treating your customers like this isn’t how to do it. The poor service, and shady forced gratuity practice (which I’ve now seen other reviews discussing), has left a bad taste in our mouths. I don’t think we’ll be returning.

The food here is absolutely delicious--I recommend the club sandwich, which is a wonderful variety of textures and tastes, and is probably as big as your head! I've not had the pizza, but I've heard from friends it's also very good. Great environment for watching any sporting events (lots of TVs, and large ones at that), and of course the live music is great as well.

I’m not sorry but I come in all the time and the short brunette bar tender is the absolute worst!! It’s Sunday foot ball and the bar was empty and I still sat there with an empty beer for more then 20 minutes…… check please. Only come in if Alex or Adrian are working the bar. These ladies are LAZY!!! Or stop pulling tips! Such a disappointment, this used to be my favorite bar.

This is NOT a SPORTS BAR! Yes, they have TVs.. They have No Knowledge of College football season beginning and nor do they care. We had a large football party of 18 that arrived and they sat us for awhile and then proceeded to tell us we had to MOVE! They were going to have a band play on a major football night. Completely understand having a band on nights there is no sports. We could tell from the moment we walked in that this place did not have good management. Do Not recommend this place for any sport enjoyment.

Very strange experience; was hit on my a regular even though I was there with my husband. We had to leave the bar because it did not feel safe and the staff did not do anything about it. Be careful single ladies!

Great local sports bar and music venue. They also have line dancing on specific nights which is fun. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday there and they let us drop off a birthday cake which they served after dinner. Very accommodating. Highly recommend!

It's awesome that they show UFC fights. It's not awesome that you CAN'T hear them... Turn up the sound! That makes the experience.

The staff here are just fantastic; they could not have hired a better group of people. If you want to feel like family, this is your spot. Savannah at the front is so personable and charming, leading to an overall amazing experience, and the service you receive is nothing short of perfect. On Sunday mornings, the restaurant opens at 9 AM and the hosts are there to guide you to your according game.

Food and service with Sara was great. Ambience good and all the NFL games were on with the hostess seating people appropriately for the team they cheered for. Noise level fine also despite a good amount of diners. Second week in a row we had difficulty getting beers we wanted. What was supposed to be on tap wasn't and rotating taps were also not updated. My husband felt his beer was a little flat so switched to bottles which also happened last week. Last week they also ran out of the bottled beer ordered but today he just had to wait while a bottle got chilled. I feel that the person who changes kegs does not work on weekends as this is not a smooth way to run a bar. Isn't it your business to serve beer? My only other issue was in the women's bathroom. The sink surroundings/grout maybe is disgustingly corroded away. Of the 4 stalls 2 do not hook closed- this also was the case last week. Though there were add-on latches on the 1 it still didn't work. I did not have problem with cleanliness or paper supplies and did mention to my server the lock issue. Again I mention Sara was very responsive to our requests and we were there for both breakfast and lunch as well as beers, waters, ice etc that we asked for. We are really into beer and remember the same issue last year during football season with the beer, not having what we're told is on, etc, and maybe lines not cleared to keep the beer at ultimate freshness. The food is good and we needed football package for our game. We would still return this season.

Drinks were fine. Food was great. Service sucked ass. Sat at the bar and was "helped" by Alex. Piece of shit asshole. He was gushing over this group of three guys. Probably wants them. Hated the guy and he deserved no tip. Lucky I'm so kind.

We came here with our cheer team after their competition and were able to get a private area and the service was incredible. The staff was so kind and attentive despite being extremely busy. The food was delicious as well as beautiful to look at. We will be back!

Happy hour is until 7pm and I got 2 sliders and fries. Sliders were well-toasted with fresh crunchy veggies, the fries were crispy and ranch dressing was yummy. Beer on tap was $6. Good food quality and we had a sectioned off private space! I'd go back!

So this actually is the closest good restaurant near my work, so I come here about once or twice a week. Vibe is still good and food is still good. I sit at the bar, and service is still good. I really enjoy eating here, from Taco Tuesdays to all of the great lunch specials. And they're willing to make any customization for you as possible; I saw someone order an alambre (Mitch taco) taco as a pizza. And they made it! (Carne asada, jalapeños, bacon, onions, etc) On a pizza!! As long as I work down the street I'll still have lunch here.

It has been a bit since I came in for Taco Tuesday here at the Ranch. Have to say it was a very enjoyable experience. With Kat behind the bar tonight it was a blast. She brought a good energy and was excited to work with me on making a new cocktail. Definitely good vibe! Thanks Kat and thanks The Ranch!

The food is good here. The ambience is Great if you like watching sports. The service is spot on as well. I would recommend The Ranch Sports Grill for a good meal and sports entertainment.

Came here to watch a local band perform. The bar was absolutely packed and the band Had everybody dancing on the floor, which was awesome. However, the restaurant did not have enough places for people to sit or stand despite the restaurant/bar being quite large. Our server was actually quite attentive and very kind and their food looked good despite the bad reviews. However, the drinks were not good at all. I got a vodka, cranberry and pineapple, and we all thought it tasted like cough syrup, and did not seem to have any vodka in it. The rest of my party also got vodka, tonics and said they were some of the lightest drinks they've ever had. Was a bummer as it is a sports bar and we expected them to have yummy tasting drinks, but we honestly did not like any of them. Despite this, the workers were all very attentive despite the busy crowds all around and the band was awesome!

The bartender Ryan is amazing! He's super attentive and always is checking in to make sure your food and drinks are exactly what you asked for! He's very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Overall a great bartender and super helpful!

I stopped in last night and was helped by both Ryan and Sandra. Ryan was super attentive, friendly, made great drink recommendations and checked in often. Sandra seemed a bit distracted and not very engaged, but Ryan definitely made up for it! Overall a great experience thanks to him! Btw his margaritas are 10/10 you won't regret ordering one from Ryan!

We have ordered The Ranch so many times in the past two years out of convenience, and every single time I ask myself, "why?!" Last night put the nail in the coffin. I ordered the kids chicken nuggets and fries. Thankfully I cut it in half before she ate because one of them was RAW. Beyond that, the fries always taste so stale. Nothing is ever good about the food. It just does the job. Many times when we order out, things are wrong. For example, last weekend I ordered the veggie burger and a beef burger came instead. I have tried and tried again, The Ranch. But no longer. Such a bummer because it's such a great location with tons of potential.

First and definitely not my last time at The Ranch! I sat at the bar with Ryan and let me tell you, the only thing better than his charm and hospitality is his drinks! 11/10, you'll fall in love...with his margaritas that is!

I loved this place, the food and drinks were amazing, great place to grab a drink or 6. Plus the bartender Ryan was a great host and bartender. He made the whole experience worth it. One of the best bartenders I've ever had.

Nick did an amazing job covering our large football team lunch. He was all over it. Great job!!!

We ordered our food and waited thirty minutes. They said they forgot the order and offered a smaller size. Definitely not coming back. Another person on my team ordered the same thing and got there after I did. He got his food before me and finished before I got mine. This was definitely a waste of my time and will not be coming back

The staff makes you feel like family. In ladera there are a lot of places that are there for your money, but not here

Our favorite family night restaurant. Have been coming here for over six months and the service we received has always been top notch. Props to Nick and the whole staff. Megan could recite the very large food menu from memory. Savannah and the hosts are very courteous at the door adding to the overall friendly ambiance.

Kat was amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and even got my last-minute order in so I could get dinner home for my family. The pizza was delicious! The crust is everything! Not too crunchy and not too soft, just perfectly done. Kudos to the kitchen for nailing it! And when I was leaving, the hostess, Grace, was friendly and made sure to wish me a great night. Ryan was on top of it bartending. Perfect service. Beer is cold and was never empty. I definitely recommend the ranch on Sunday football!

Husband and I came in to see how the atmosphere at the ranch We sat down at the bar. There were plenty of employees behind the bar not one person came up to us until my husband said hey can we get a drink? He went off to get us a drink, and in the meantime, another couple came in and sat down to the left of us. We had been watching the game waiting for our drinks and all of a sudden the employee goes and changes the TV. My husband said why are you changing the TV? He said that couple asked me to change it. My husband said he was watching the channel. The employee proceeded to tell my husband the game was over. Your employees should embrace new people coming into the bar by saying welcome We sat and watched your employees and finally had to say can we order some food? In order to get people into your establishment, you are going to have to be nice and have people who are trained to interact with people what brings you here? What do you like about this place? I would suggest hiring a trainer for these new employees

Many people have been on and off frequent diners as the local community used to eat here. I'm going back to off... they changed chefs again....their sliders and hamburgers were predictably tasty are very poor. Their soups were good ... sent back my bowl today. How does one mess up quesadillas or French fries. Very sad as this was predictable, tasty bar food

Arrived on time for our reservation. Waited. Promised a server would be right with us. 30 minutes later told we won't be able to order from the menu and must order from the limited menu at the bar. What the heck!! Why promise stuff you can't deliver. Very very very disappointed in the employee who we spoke to attitude when I was expressing my frustration she literally just walked away. I have to mind my manners but man I want to cuss her out for real!!!!

Ryan was amazing!! So sweet and attentive! Best customer service! I came here for the game and stayed for the service! The best food and drinks in town!!! He makes the best spicy margarita!!

Kat was very friendly and had such fast service. We came in for a friend's birthday and she recommended green tea shots and it was definitely worth it. She made probably one of the best ones I've ever had. Her drinks didn't fail us and I can't wait to go back and see her bartend again.

Adrian is the best bartender! He's super attentive and makes the best drinks. We've been coming the past couple trivia nights, and it's our favorite part of our week. Sandi is great too.

Kat is a great addition to the bartender staff. Fast, fun and an excellent bartender. The Ranch and their customers are lucky to have her.

Went to see The Reflexx last weekend. We saw them the last time they were at the Ranch and it was good. This time they lost our reservation and took about 45 minutes to get seated. This was after the band started and with five minutes to order food. Needless to say stuff happens, but the fact that the manager never came over to help or even say sorry is inexcusable. On the bright side Jadyn and Kristy (waitress and hostess) were very apologetic and tried. Bottom line is the manager did nothing and refused to come over after being asked numerous times from staff. I guess that's service nowadays

A great local place to hang out! Great food! But must say our waitress Kristie was wonderful!!! She was so hospitable, friendly and extremely welcoming She's one of the best waitresses we have had in so long anywhere! Thank you to the ranch manager for hiring her as a waitress! She's an asset to your restaurant. Will be back and asking for her to be our waitress ! And The food was soooo good! Keep it up! Way to go!

I had a great time here, but Sandra's service was slow and not very friendly. Ryan the bartender, on the other hand, was fantastic! Super personable and makes excellent drinks. He's the reason I'd come back.

Came in tonight with a friend and Sandra greeted us. Things were okay, she was short, and a bit cut throat. Seemed as if we were almost a burden ordering. Ryan checked in a couple times and made the experience a lot better. He was attentive and up-selled us on a margarita for me, and a double strawberry for me friend. He is full of charisma and character. Recommend coming in on Ryan days.

Great place to get some food and drinks. although the weekend bartender is good, Ryan does a better job of affectively serving guests.

What an amazing time. Came in to watch the game, stayed for the amazing service and food. Had Ryan the bartender pick my meal, he could not have done it better. Amazing call with the carnitas mac and cheese, and the strawberry margaritas kept me for all 9 innings and extra. The conversation kept flowing, the drinks stayed full, the appetite was appeased. I could not recommend a night at The Ranch with Ryan enough to anyone looking for a good night, a good bite, or a good drink

Ryan was really attentive and super friendly. The monday girl bartender was terrible. Its unfortunate that they stopped serving at 9 while the world series was still going. All in all Will continue to come in when ryan works!

Came in after a rough day - fantasy team on a 3 game losing streak. Skattebo injured. Ferguson with 1 target in 60 minutes of play. Falcons defense getting blown out by Miami (how?). Ryan made me forget about all of it. His kindness, infectious smile, contagious laugh, muscular build, and great service was the highlight of my week. Highly recommend The Ranch Sports Grill. Ryan will take care of you.

Came in for a change of scenery and was greeted by Ryan the bartender and the service was nothing short of exceptional! 10/10 would recommend coming here!

Stopped by The Ranch a few days ago. Good food, good atmosphere and the BEST bartender, Ryan! He was charming and we all enjoyed! Will be back soon!

I came in around 8pm,they close at 10pm. I was starved, and I have never been there before. The kitchen was closed... the kitchen was closed a whole 2 hours before closing time at 10pm.I was ready to spend money , I was thinking this could be my go to place after I go to the gym... The bartender was nice she did a good job, but the people at the bar were awful, this woman was cussing and yelling so loud with her friends (they were all at least 40 years old) Instead of closing the kitchen early, how about you close the bar early? What kind of people are you trying to attract ? Is this a bar first or a restaurant first? I won't be coming back.

I can't believe how slow the service was! It took ages for my drinks to arrive, and to top it off, they completely messed up my order of wings. Unbelievable!. However staff is Friendly

We came here for football games and had amazing food and service! Not your run of the mill sports bar food! Braydon was our server, he was so attentive and friendly! Thank you Braydon for making our Sunday funday perfect!

This is getting out of control. We come here at the least 3 times a week because it's convenient. The food used to be ok but it has recently taken a turn for the worst. Please look at the $27 Nachos from tonight. A plate of soggy chips with a few beans and hardly any cheese. Awful! And you think they fixed it?! ABSOLUTELY NOT. This is twice this week. It's not shocking that people aren't going there anymore. So sad.

Great place to come in and enjoy the tunes, sports, drink specials, lunch specials, happy Hour and Taco Tuesday fiesta deals! Best server is Nick! He on it !!! He makes sure you have everything you need, he checks back at the table often and is also knowledgeable which specials might apply at the time you're visiting. He is moving around constantly and if you need another drink -he's on it. Good place to watch a game with friends and family.

First time her to watch Sunday football game and so impressed with their food quality, TV and seat availability and service that goes the extra mile to make the experience special. We stayed for breakfast and lunch! We will definitely be back!! We heard they have a new chef too and the food was really good!

Always been a big fan of this place however, it seems to have started to go downhill recently. The food has gone backwards and more expensive with less options and the kids gaming area is a real dump. I felt bad for my kids as the games looked like they have been abandoned. Wings and beer are good though. Hard to screw that up thoug
