Tacos del Barrio and The Real Boss are two new food truck options in Detroit - Eater Detroit

"A new fleet of food trucks are vying for street food dominance in Detroit, with its first trio hitting Southwest Detroit over the past month or so. Tacos del Barrio and the Real Boss, described as a barbecue-centric food truck, are already posted up on the empty space of a car wash at West Vernor Highway at Dix, complete with covered outdoor seating, music reverberating throughout the dining area, and a handful of oversized Tamarack chairs painted in the colors of several Latin American flags." - Serena Maria Daniels

Like all the trucks around it used to be really good. The fries came with way more stuff for the same price. I get the chicken bacon ranch it used to have real chicken, bacon, ranch, jalapeños but no more jalapeños, takes way too long and something’s always wrong. Either they burn the fries or the chicken plus theyre weird little nuggets now. Hate when the trucks used to be good but they get greedy

Absolutely love this food truck and have been coming to eat each week. The environment is super nice and seems to be really popular with locals. You can tell how fresh the food is witch each bite and my current favorite menu item is the loaded fries.

The Real Boss is one of the best food trucks I’ve ever ate at! Their style and service are top notch with items on the menu that are delicious! The choriboy or The Steak Bomba are legendary food choices and don’t even try to leave without trying the Loaded Fries! Buffalo Chicken Loaded Fries are a favorite for those who want every little piece of quality food! The lemonade is a drink that has a soothing taste and always sweet. Would recommend for everyone to come try it out!

Pulled pork is real good and also the wings. Will definitely be back.. enjoyed everything that I ordered everytime I've been. Only bad thing is no debit or credit card accepted

Google
Terrible turn around ,more than half hour they were not even busy. Cook was literally in snail mode, doing one order at a time. That’s not efficient. I ordered the steak bomba. The bread was hard to bite on,the steak was chewy. The sides I ordered Mac and cheese were watery. The jack Daniel bbq beans were overdone and almost dry then moist look more like i was eating chilli.

Yelp
I don't know why it's so many negative reviews. I stopped here on the way home. I ordered a sandwich and it was so good! Although the couldn't understand me, customer service was great food took a few minutes. I'd rather my food come out a little late than fast!. The seasonings and stuff he green sauce was . Next time I go I'm going to take pictures.

Yelp
I was going to try this place but was unsure what to get. I asked what comes on the loaded fries since there is no description. The woman behind the counter just said " don't know how to explain it" . I then ask her in Spanish since I over heard them speaking in Spanish. She again told me she doesn't know how to explain it. So she asked the cook, he just looked at her and didn't say anything. So there I was , I just stood there in awkward silence, clueless. I left and didn't order anything. How does a business have a menu with incompetent workers ? Lol

Yelp
I cant begin to say how dissatisfied I am and upset that my taco truck is gone and I get not one but 2 horrible disgusting food trucks. This truck in particular has low work moral. All the workers are acting uncivilized and incompetent. They showed signs of strong lack of knowledge when it came to the menu there empanadas are very skimpy but look extremely big and tall. When we ask about toppings for some fries there clueless and they barely wanted to talk. I Went home with my empanadas and let my daughter eat I was going to eat after work and I get a call my daughter was throwing up this place is awful I went to rerun it they gave me my money back but they didn't care they were acting clueless and surprise.

Yelp
Both trucks had terrible work ethic for what it takes to operate a food truck. But the worst one goes to The real boss. Waited over 30mins to get my food mind you there was no real traffic other than maybe 1 or 2 orders ahead of me. That is unacceptable timing for a food truck. The cook was working at a snail pace not really optimizing by multi tasking. I ordered the steak bomba the bread was horribly hard, the steak was chewy... the sides were even more terrible Jack daniels bbq baked beans were over cooked a little burnt almost dry felt more like the consistency of chilli left to dry over a few hours. The mac and cheese was watery and tasted like it was made from a boxed Mac and cheese. You can tell this is just a quick cash grab business and not really in it for the pride of making the best food. Overall would avoid!!
