The Rectory

"All the charm, elegance and character you’d expect from a restored Georgian former rectory are present and correct here, and that includes a lovely garden, dining room and spacious glasshouse. The confident kitchen focuses on seasonality and top British ingredients, and there is never anything extraneous on the plate – just satisfying and complementary flavours." - Michelin Inspector

A Month on the Road With My Newborn

"The Rectory Hotel sits atop a small rise, next to All Saints’ Church, where the resident vicar once preached. When we stopped into the main house to pick up the key to our cottage, we saw guests wearing filthy boots in front of a log fire, their walking maps unfolded on the mantel. Somewhere down a softly lit hallway was the sound of paws skittering on flagstones, and the gnash of cutlery in the dining room."

We stayed at the Rectory for two nights with our 3 children their partners and our 9 month old grandson. Arrangements prior to our arrival were all dealt with promptly and without any fuss. The hotel itself is very stylish but at the same time homely and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and well stocked with all the items you might need. The quality and quantity of the breakfast was excellent as were the attentive staff. The dinners at both the Potting Shed pub (owned by the hotel) and at the hotel itself were really good with high quality ingredients . The staff were really helpful in arranging our table for 8 on both nights. The swimming pool area is in the grounds and heated, although when we visited the weather was wonderful . Overall I couldn’t point to anything that was disappointing about the Rectory. I would recommend it to both families and couples.

Lovely place with a great sister pub across the road. Had a very good Sunday lunch in lovely surroundings. Wife and daughter enjoyed the outdoor. Lunch time service was poor as the 12.5% service charge is already on the bill so little incentive to look after guests. IMO. Service was slow at best and we literally had to beg for drinks on what was a very hot day. Lovely place though and great food. Would return.

We had a 3 nights stay at the Rectory which is a true gem! The hotel is so beautiful and refined in every details. The cuisine is just amazing. We had dinner twice there and every single bite was exceptional! The rooms are comfortable (the standard ones are a bit small unless you travel with a carry on only), the bigger ones are juste perfect. The place is quiet and very well located to tour the Cotswolds. The staff is very kind. I would have loved staying a full week!

We spent two nights at this beautiful hotel with our dog. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent and the easily catered to a gluten free diet. The rooms are clean and cosy, they even put a dog bed and water bowl in our room. The whole place has a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and we are already planning when we might return.

We were travelling with my mother, my wife, and my toddler, so we stayed in the cottage to make life a bit easier for all of us and to have some space for our son to play, eat, have tantrums, etc.. I want to first point out the service. It was top notch. Everyone was friendly, proactive, able to support our toddler's needs, you name it. The level of service is what we spoke about on our drive back to London and we thank all of the folks there for that. The Cottage was perfect for us. The location was great with lots of villages, farms, art galleries in easy driving distance. Thanks again, Owen LaFave

Stay at The Rectory for one night and I was amazing! The room was very clean and tidy, quiet during the night and the bed was very comfy. All the hotel staff were very friendly and chatty throughout my stay. The pool was clean and fresh towels were provided. In the evening the food at the restaurant was incredible, so tasty and looked enticing. All in all a great little luxury hotel would love to come back.

Four of us went for a birthday celebratory lunch. Unfortunately a little bit disappointing. An extremely limited menu, the portions for the main courses were small, but what we were served was very good. These were let down by the desserts which again were extremely limited, very small portions and nothing special at all. Very overpriced for what we were offered, would hesitate to go back.

We stayed for 3 nights and had an amazing time! We were travelling with our 3-month-old baby, and the staff couldn’t have been more supportive and helpful. They provided us with a cot and kindly stored our baby’s milk in their fridge—small touches that made a big difference. A special shoutout to the barman, who was incredibly friendly and went out of his way to help us find the perfect cocktails. My wife was looking for non-alcoholic options, and he created his own twist on a Bee’s Knees—it was absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again soon.
