Great 100% gluten free bakery! Many vegan options as well! We got our wedding cake from here and loved it! Favorite reaction? Guests complimenting the cake, then learning it’s gluten free. Our favorites are strawberry, lemon, and vanilla. With numerous food allergies and dietary restrictions, we more than appreciate Jamie’s ability and willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate! All guests enjoyed dessert without restrictions and that means a lot. The photos are of our anniversary cake, wedding cake, and a birthday cake.

Friendly service and very high quality product. We ordered these cake pops for our son's birthday party. Nobody even noticed they were GF and the kids were all very happy. Zero complaints here!

I have had three personalized cakes I have ordered. Chocolate, lemon, and red velvet. The lemon was great! Our party really enjoyed this flavor. However the chocolate and red velvet (which are very similar bases) just genuinely do not taste good. There is a weird chalky artificial taste to it. Almost like if someone made chocolate flavored taffy as a cake, rather than a true tasting chocolate cake. I called the bakery last year after our first order to tell them about the chocolate not tasting good and they initially told me they recently changed their recipe. A while later we ordered a red velvet, hoping the base of the chocolate flavor would taste better. It does not. It’s a shame! But honestly the flavor of the chocolate cake is really not good at all, and neither is the red velvet. That said, we did enjoy the lemon flavor, and this bakery does a fantastic job at decorating cakes! I am pleased with every other aspect of this shop. But I cannot stress enough how gross the chocolate is. Our guests at our parties even commented on it. Those who had the chocolate a year ago, and tasted the red velvet recently, even brought it up and agreed on the gross taste. No one finished the cake or wanted to take any leftovers. If this shop could tweak their chocolate cake recipe, that’d be great! Anything to make it taste better. Our party ended up primarily eating the other desserts that were brought (brownies and cookies) instead of our expensive cake that we purchased.

Jaimie at Red Bandana Bakery is one of my go-to bakers for weddings, birthday parties and more. She is incredibly responsive, her desserts are delicious and we love that her items are also gluten-free. I've used Red Bandana Bakery for several weddings and she never disappoints! She also offers couples a wedding anniversary cake after their first year of marriage which is such a thoughtful and great perk! Highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised! For gluten free and vegan, my cupcake and brownie were not dry. Both were so delicious and I devoured them both in the car within 5 mins of leaving. Saving this bakery to my map and I'll be back

I'm lucky, my husband Nat has known Jaimie for over a decade! They first met at a cafe in Northern Montgomery County where Nat was working. I remember meeting Jaimie at a show my husband was performing in when we were first dating, and Jaimie was super kind! We were so excited to learn she was thinking of opening a bakery in Bethesda, and we have been fans ever since! Jaimie was one of our main go to custom bakers during the pandemic when we wanted to support small, local businesses--and also enjoy the life that was still to be celebrated. We got a bunch of Father's Day, birthday, Mother's Day cakes from The Red Bandana Bakery. We have since moved to NYC, but we were in town recently to visit my sick Dad in the hospital and our hotel was literally a few doors down from the bakery! We were so happy to be able to support Jaimie and company again! We had great lattes and our young son enjoyed his steamer. We loved the cinnamon roll and a bonfire brownie! So yummy! And, I'm still so impressed by how reasonable their prices still are in this ever changing economy! Thank you!

Red Bandana provided delicious gluten-free pastries for our wedding in Northern Virginia. We had a specific need to keep the entire menu gluten-free since the bride had celiac’s disease. Additionally, we wanted a cake for cutting, but wanted to have a different pastry as our main dessert. When we went into the bakery for our tasting, Jaimie Mertz guided us through all of our options including different cake and icing flavor combinations, as well as their full selection of pastries. Red Bandana provided everything we needed including a massive table display of gluten-free cinnamon rolls surrounding our cutting cake. They delivered everything exactly how we wanted it on the day of the wedding and coordinated with our wedding planner so that we did not need to worry about it. It made us so happy to serve delicious gluten-free desserts at our wedding and we would definitely recommend Red Bandana Bakery’s catering. My father has Celiac and it is tricky to find delicious gluten-free cake. Every year we order his birthday cake from Red Bandana and they never disappoint! Today I picked up a beautifully decorated cake for him - we didn't get a photo of it because he was too eager to cut it! The vanilla cake was light and the strawberry frosting was delicious - not overly sweet like so many. My father declared the raspberry filling to be "perfection"! Yet another winning combo! If you are in need of a cake for someone with dietary restrictions, I cannot recommend Red Bandana enough. Placing an order is so simple - just call and they talk you through it. I got a text when the cake was ready for pick up that included a photo of the finished product. Pick up was smooth and easy and the service was wonderful. So grateful to have the bakery local to us!

The Red Bandna Bakery is outstanding. Because of my medical condition, I love the fact that all of their goods are gluten free. The cookie I bought was so sweet and tasty. The owner was a very pleasant young lady. It is my practice to put the positive and negative in my reviwes. I cannot think of any problems.

I adore this local bakery within walking distance to my house. The staff is lovely, and the baked goods are delicious! I also appreciate how much you can customize baked goods based on allergies. I just picked up my first cake, and Jaimie was super responsive and kind. She sent me a photo of the cake (it looks beautiful), and it was ready right on time! So glad to have this gem in my neighborhood.

It was Valentine's Day and I headed over to The Red Bandana Bakery. I ordered 6 Gluten free cupcakes, which were beautifully decorated for the holiday. They were absolutely delicious and customer service was excellent. I was in and out in 5 minutes. I took them over to my grandchildren's. We gobbled them up ! They are sure to put a smile on your face and warm fuzzies in your tummy! The Red Bandana Bakery provides a warm, cozy environment and there are small tables to enjoy your treats. The toughest decision is what to order, because everything is delicious. My sweet tooth is already craving my next return. Thank you, Red Bandana Bakery.

Ordered a birthday cake for my boyfriend--he loved it! This was his 45th birthday, and in tribute to his love of comics, the ladies at RBB were able to capture a beloved favorite hero from his childhood--The Green Lantern. I texted them my ideas, and they executed them to life. The cake looked so good! Also, they specialize in GF baking, which is a plus!! My bf and I watch our diets, so this option was very important. Having the cake gluten free did not stifle the taste--the yellow cake with chocolate frosting was so delicious and moist!! Thank you, RBB!! I will be ordering from you again!!

Have ordered two cakes from them since last year - one custom, one signature - and have been very happy with both. Discovered this bakery last year when I was looking for a cake my mom wanted to have recreated. To boot, she's lactose intolerance so it had to be a vegan cake. Red Bandana completely nailed it. I sent them a photo of the design, let them know the food restrictions, and they made the exact cake we wanted and it was delicious. This year, I got a Fruity Patootie cake from them for my wife's birthday and it was great, too! Delivery is painless and not unreasonably price (they use a third-party provider), and service by email and on the phone is friendly and responsive. Their cake prices are a tad high, but these are also more elegant cakes than you'll find at your local supermarket. Highly recommend Red Bandana and would absolutely order from them again.

Ordered vegan cupcakes at the last minute for my son's birthday party. They were prompt and pretty and the vegans loved them!! Also, the parking wasn't bad and they offer pastries for sale so I tried a cheddar thyme biscuit. It was a leeeetle dry, but after that first bite, the flavor was amazing! The texture was too. It wasn't crumbly or soggy but a perfect biscuit with butter it's definitely a do! It would make an AWESOME breakfast sandwich!!

lovely place with a lovely staff! I got the lox bagel and iced vanilla latte-- the lox bagel was so delish and I loved the salmon especially! the coffee was great as well, but I didn't get the vanilla taste that I was hoping for. I will be back to try the baked goods!

Solid bakery with many gluty free options. I ordered six gluten free cupcakes and the champagne cake for my sister's birthday and the cake was beautiful! Service was also wonderful and Jaimie was excellent at communicating. I ordered a carrot cake flavor. I was hoping for something a bit more moist with nuts and raisins but overall, it was great and definitely a very beautiful cake with a "wow factor." I'll try some breakfast next time!

Every time I come here, I feel so welcomed. My old roommate would come in every Sunday, so I've gotten in the habit of stopping in. The service is always amazing and the food is made fresh. You can tell everything is freshly baked and allergy friendly. Also so delicious! I get the bacon, egg, and cheese on a cheddar thyme biscuit. I love the Arnold Palmer and their seasonal soups and treats. Highly recommend stopping by! Love this place!

Everything was amazingly delicious! The restaurant is clean, and the staff is extremely friendly. I ordered a gluten/lactose free cake for my celiac husband's 50th bday. First of all, Jaimie is wonderful to work with. Calling after I placed the order online to confirm the details, texting a picture of the cake when it was ready, arranging for delivery etc. But more importantly, the cake was gorgeous and delicious. You should have seen husband's face when he opened the box, his mouth fell open. So, thanks Jaimie for making this milestone bday so special.

Ordered a custom Almond Cream Pie that is apparently a staple at Congressional Country Club. After googling to find a recipe, I decided it was beyond my baking capabilities, and called in the pros at Red Bandana. Jamie nailed it! Absolutely delicious!

Red Bandana Bakery makes the ultimate carrot cake-the best on this planet! Unlike other gluten-free carrot cakes, which I have tasted before, which have been too heavy, too bland, too sweet, awful frosting the Red Bandana Bakery has created by far a gluten-free carrot cake that should be featured on the Food Network] Who knew that me asking for them to make a carrot cake without nuts with buttercream frosting would end up testing, so good I end up ordering another one under the guise of an excuse to honor a loved ones birthday I am not sure how they do it, but it's like magic! And the design was perfect! I asked for sin flowers and creatively they created some flowers using buttercream.(oh my gosh, some flowers from delicious! Gluten-free is definitely the way to go in if I'm going to have a gluten-free cake, cupcake or any other product definitely this is a place to go. I'm already thinking of ideas for my birthday in June!! The owner /operator Jaimie Mertz is the nicest, most professional, friendly and courteous person to interact with - every year when they come to her to create cupcakes or carrot cakes, she somehow imagines the most creative way to bring decorations and something to eat to suction of a level I feel very sad to even eat the item - as you know from this cake photos! PS she even created me made cupcakes for me with Gnomes on them for my birthday one year!! It's time for Red Bandana Bakery to get a James Beard Award

Look at this cake! I asked for a Taskmaster themed cake and I got this masterpiece! How could there be a better cake than this?! The folks at Red Bandana are true artists. The cake looked perfect and tasted even better. I can't stop eating this cake! It's so good!

I bought this cake in hopes of enjoying a quality king cake. I ordered a 6-inch king cake and was disappointed in what a representation of what a king cake should look and taste like. The king cake I ordered was overpriced and nowhere near the resemblance to authentic king cake. The recipe needs work and could be better.

What would have been a last minute nightmare to find an egg-less gluten-free cake for my daughter's birthday turned out to be a wonderful experience! Our cake was beautifully decorated, delicious and we experienced the best customer service ever. Literally listened to my needs over the phone and had a cake ready in less than 30 minutes right before they closed! Cannot recommend enough and will be a returning customer!

I could cry! I haven't had a gluten free cake for my birthday before and I have an allergy to wheat so it has been a hot minute. My husband surprised with me this and I could not be happier, it's so beautiful!!! (The 6 is backwards for fun)

This place made the gluten free cake for our wedding. They let us do a tasting ahead of time and we could even make slight flavor and sweetness adjustments. Fast forward a few years and they're still going strong, just stopped by cause my wife surprised me for my birthday by stopping by for a dozen cupcakes. We also grabbed lunch to go while there. Does not disappoint. Just a note prolly pandemic related there doesn't appear to be any dine-in options right now.

I had some vegan cupcakes and a breakfast sandwich delivered from The Red Bandana Bakery for my friend and his twin's birthdays yesterday. The food was prepared on time and delivered promptly through Grub Hub (but they charged for delivery when Yelp said delivery was free?). Unfortunately they did not take any photos of the cupcakes but that was for good reason. They had one of each flavor (vanilla, strawberry and chocolate) and left nothing behind! We'll let the absence of cupcake photos speak for itself! I was a little nervous as I was sending these without trying them since they haven't tried vegan baked goods before but they were very pleased with them :) This was especially significant as this was my friend's first birthday as a vegan. I'm so pleased he enjoyed the cupcakes and was encouraged that vegan treats are just a tasty! As for the chickpea scramble (pictured) the sandwich was well made but a bit on the dry side I'm told. The chickpea scramble itself was savory and flavorful but I think my friend would order something else next time. All in all it was such a lovely experience ordering from here. The Red Bandana Bakery made celebrating vegan birthdays 3,000+ miles apart possible. The lady who helped me on the phone even helped me include a card just before the delivery driver picked up the order! I couldn't have been happier that the birthday guys enjoyed the food and I was served with such friendly service from afar. I know they're just doing their job, but these simple act of offering kind service to customers really means so much during challenging times like these. It certainly made celebrating a birthday in the middle of a pandemic extra special. I look forward to trying things for myself someday when I'm able to visit from the West Coast! Thank you so much!

I ordered The Chickpea Blondies and Black Bean Brownies as a trial, and I loved them. The texture of both were really nice and the flavor was perfect. I then ordered my birthday cake a week later AND IT WAS AMAZING! I don't like most frostings on cake but, Red Bandana Bakery. DID THEIR THANG! And the service at the Bakery was very pleasant.

Yummy! I'm newly gluten free due to a recent diagnosis and it's so hard to find good baked goods but Red Bandana is a godsend! My roommate and I went today for lunch. We eat got a smoked salmon BLT and some baked goods! They even piped the icing on the baked good as we waited so we knew they were fresh! Probably the best donut I've ever had, GF or not! We'll definitely be back! I can't wait to try more!!

Stumbled upon this bakery after a friend suggested it to me after noticing that if I don't pack my own lunches, I rarely have food to eat. I've been Celiac for over 21 years and going out to eat has always been a total gamble on whether I'll have a stomach ache for just a few hours or literally weeks later. Once discovered, this place makes me so happy every time I go because there's such a diversity of options. I can actually pick whatever I'd like to have on the menu instead of a limited menu picking for me. I've tried two sandwiches, the smoked lox with white bread and the chicken Caesar sandwich with the garlic herb roll. I highly recommend the garlic herb bread option as it adds a a little something extra to an already great sandwich. The strawberry donut is my favorite of the three flavors. The pizza here is amazing. Even though the slice is on the smaller side, the dough is thick and soft in comparison to most gf pizzas which are thin crust and crunchy. They also sell full loaves of bread which is amazing for making sandwiches and meals at home. I'm super grateful to have a dedicated gluten free bakery and I hope more people with celiac or gluten intolerances find out about this place. Their motto is about food being good for the soul which is fitting as this is one of the very few places I can eat without fear of stomachaches or fatigue following afterwards. Food is supposed to give you energy, not the opposite, and I've found that true here. There is street parking, however no official parking lot. Plan ahead to find parking, but it's super worth it if you're gluten free like me. Employees are really friendly. I haven't preordered a decorated cake yet, but the in store options are great for a quick snack, meal or dessert.

I ordered 12 regular and 6 gluten free/dairy free cake pops. There is $10.00 charge for gluten-free /dairy free cake pops. Got all 18 cakes in the same box. When I asked them why they charge extra they said that just to make sure and take extra care they charge extra. I actually did want the regular pops. I was told that frosting with dairy is white chocolate only.

Great service and delicious blackberry preserve filled cupcakes! I asked about a custom cupcake for my wife's birthday and they delivered spectacularly. Easy to order over the phone or online. I'd order cupcakes from them again and look forward to trying their other baked goods.

Red bandana never disappoints!! Got a sandwich for the first time (normally I just go for dessert). The green machine on GF tomato cheesy bread is just what I needed today. Customer service is the best and everyone is so kind. I also have a severe sesame allergy and I feel very safe ordering from here. Easily found a place to park on the street in front, ordered inside, then waited outside for them to bring out my food. The only negative thing I have to say is about the size of the sandwich. I find that everything gluten free in general is just a little bit smaller in size, but from a gluten free dedicated bakery I would've expected standard sized food. Nevertheless, definitely coming back for this and I would order it over and over!

Awesomely, wonderful Vegan/Healthy Bakery. We ordered the Red Velvet Donuts and they were delicious. I believe they also offer other items, such as sandwiches and soup. The donuts were served on a China plate, so as not to create plastics waste. They also provided water in a container, with clean reusable cups, to be environmentally friendly. The bakery is having a month long artist show/offering for DesignFruit Creatives, with jewelry, pins and more on sale for the whole month of December. The items are playful, colorful and unique piece created by hand by the artist. The price range for the pins were $12 plus. If you need unique special one of a kind items, as presents for the holidays, you should check out both the baked goods and the jewelry, currently being sold at Red Bandana.

A bakery where people belong. Gluten free and vegan baking from scratch. Proud, happy people inside (happyhealthy) who provide top notch service. Gluten free donut was 3dollars with more icing than caking. Coffee was fine. Seats were metal and uncomfortable, not a place to linger. There is a couch and a couple of seats with backs. Board games under the table. They have a two week baking summer camp. For gluten free folks it's terrific to have this place here.

Really delicious gluten and dairy free baked goods. I've tasted their s'mores brownie. It was super chocolately, thin with a chewy middle and crispy outside. I also enjoyed their raspberry hamentashen and funfetti cookie. I have yet to master gluten/dairy free baking and am really happy to have this bakery close by.

The amazing chefs at the red bandanna did not disappoint! We just had the most delicious lemon flavored to perfection 20th anniversary cake! And it was a Paleo cake to boot! I highly recommend this bakery for a gluten-free & dairy free! Thanks so much!

I contacted this bakery on Saturday for a pickup on Wednesday at 11am for a custom one-tier cake for my grandfather. I go there to pick it up at noon on the day requested, but they didn't have my name on the list to pick-up. Another story employee tried to assist and then admitted they had completely forgotten to make my cake. I get that that it was the day before thanksgiving and they were busy; however, they shouldn't have committed to making his cake and also taking my money, if they wouldn't be able to make it. They offered to give my money back or deliver it for me. They also said I could wait for them to make it but it would take two hours. I was staying with family who lived 40 minutes away. I was going to give my grandfather his cake right after it was supposed to be picked up but couldn't because now it would be delayed. I just had them deliver it, which I appreciated. When we got the cake, you could definitely tell it was rushed because the fondant wasn't clean and smooth. I ordered a baseball bat because it was half a New York Yankees cake, but it definitely didn't look like a bat. We ordered vanilla cake with vanilla custard. The cake was horrible. No one in my family wanted to eat it so we just threw it away. I mentioned that to the owner, who said it was probably the custard because they don't use that in house often and they made sure that the cake was baked through, but it wasn't the texture of the custard. The cake tasted like it still hadn't been mixed all the way through. It was 100% the worst cake we had ever tasted. The owner did give me a partial refund but that doesn't take away from the fact that they forgot to make it in the first place and then it tasted horrible so it was money down the drain. I will not be ordering from them again.

Women owned and operated - amazing baked goods - online baking sessions - delicious drinks...what more could you ask for??? I love that they support artists and have jewelry and cards on display. I love that they have hot cocoa bombs and quiche and I love that they do door dash and other online options!!!

Such a customer friendly place with delicious vegan treats! I goofed on the pick up date for two dozen cupcakes and donuts that I needed for a baby shower. Totally my fault but the staff took it to stride and whipped up some awesome cupcakes and donuts with custom frosting colors on the spot. I totally appreciated this and want to spread widely how awesome they are.
