"An old chicken shack is now a popular crab house for folks on the Eastern Shore. To get here, you’ll need to plan a road trip (about 2.5 hours from D.C.), but it’s a scenic detour if you’re driving to Ocean City. And the crabs pair perfectly with the restaurant’s signature fried chicken, a secret recipe since 1974. The season started on St. Patrick’s Day and spring hours expand this week (open 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon on weekends). AYCE blue crab starts at $57." - Tierney Plumb, Tim Ebner

This place is out of the way, but OMG so worth the drive!! Down a few side roads, then a dirt driveway, and bam.. there it is. A big red, one level barn type building in the middle of a field, with some of THE BEST food!! This was a quick weekend trip with some friends (yes, we drove 5 hours just to have dinner here). Everything was amazing! The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Special shout out to Peyton who took excellent care of our table. So much food, drinks were fantastic, outstanding place! Go as soon as you can, you will not be disappointed.

Crabs were a bit small but tasty. My daughter shook off an abundance of old bay. We really did love the food. I think the server had people in both rooms however. We all got the just enough. Was more than enough.

This place is a hidden gem. From the moment you pull up to the time you leave, you feel warm and welcoming. They have a awesome tradition of placing signed dollar bills around the restaurant! Our server went above and beyond.

I rarely leave reviews, but the food was so terrible that I don’t want anyone else to spend money on it. Our friends are locals and have come here often in the past. On our way, they commented how odd it is that this place isn’t nearly as busy as it once was. When our food was served we immediately discovered why. The clam strips were cold and inedible. The clams themselves were like strips of plastic. We showed the waitress, and she apologized, but the kitchen did nothing about it. The fries were overcooked and cold. The crab dip tasted like old fish, and the corn on the cob had clearly been sitting around for a while. The crabs were also overcooked and dry. The fried chicken was actually quite good, as was the garlic bread. But not worth $250 with tip. I will never eat here again.

Not sure what has happened. This used to be our go-to place for crabs. The fries, hush puppies, chicken and corn were all cold. Crabs were so small I’m not sure they were legal. We had to walk to the kitchen to ask for Old Bay because we weren’t given any and even after asking, they didn’t bring any. They were not busy at all and we can see why.

Food and just about everything are always right on. The only thing I would complain about is that the dollar bills all over the walls and everything it makes it look like a more of a dive bar than anything. It really takes away from the atmosphere and looks terrible. I really hope they change that very soon. looking past that, the food is excellent. I worked there from 1986-1993 and was a very fun place to work, I hope it still is!!

The crabs had NO flavor. The chicken was SUPER HARD AND DRY. The hushpuppies were tasteless. Fries were cold. My friend ordered a salad that was iceberg lettuce with tomatoes ONLY. The waitress took a LONG time to bring the food, she was busy socializing with other people that it took her a long time to get ANYTHING that we asked for at our table. We/BOTH (2 PEOPLE) paid for AYCE CRABS but she came and ONLY gave us 4 CRABS EACH (TWICE). WE BOTH HAD 8 CRABS EACH ONLY. THE OTHER TABLES WERE HAVING THEIR CRABS DUMPED ON THE TABLE BY THE ROUND TRAY FULL. WE STILL GAVE HER A TIP........BUT THAT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME PATRONIZING THERE. MY OVER ALL TIP WOULD BE TO TREAT "EVERY" CUSTOMER THE SAME WITH THE SAME SERVICE/COMMON COURTESY.

Casey was our server. She was everything a server should be. Attentive. Pleasant. Addressed the small issue we had immediately. We had great drinks and good times. The tiki bar is closed right now, which was why we went to this bar. But wound up having a fun time without tiki bar. Recommend a stop at the Red Roost.
