The Redwood in Sebastopol offers a delightful seasonal menu. Their snap pea salad is a refreshing highlight, perfectly complemented by the flavorful gailan and expertly grilled maitake. A true local gem for fresh, inspired dishes!

The food here is always fabulous. This time 3 of us shared the meze plate with hummus, baba ghanoush and labneh, as well as a bing cherry, fennel, and ricotta tartine. Both were fresh and fantastic. It ended up being plenty of food for us too so that for a couple drinks and food for 3 spent $60.

The restaurant is very cozy and the service is very decent. The options for dinner are quite limited. We ordered the duck liver mousse to share and I had the black cod. Since some of us were still a bit hungry, we also had the fried potatoes. All of the dishes are quite delicious. The corn that came with the fish was very sweet and tasty. The bread was grilled perfectly and we even ordered more bread to pair with the mousse. My friends also love the lamb they ordered.

I happened to be Sebastopol this weekend and tried this brand-new restaurant and OH MY GOD I am so glad I did. The restaurant serves a seasonal menu with unique natural wines. Each dish we ordered was consistently delicious and seemed to be crafted carefully. 10/10 would recommend. My only negative is that this restaurant isn’t in Seattle (where I am from). But I guess it means I’ll have to come back! I highly recommend the dark chocolate crémeux. It was life changing!

Amazing! I have to admit I’m biased because I have been following the chefs at this restaurant for years, so I already knew I would love it, but oh my gosh, it was incredible! The wine selection is unique and meticulously curated. Every glass we tried perfectly hit the spot. And let’s not forget about the food!!! The citrus salad was a highlight but everything I put in my mouth was heavenly. Don’t skip dessert, the chocolate cremeux is perfection!

I love coming here solo during lunch hour and treating myself to a little glass of wine. It’s also great for a little group of friends looking to chat over dinner. It’s casual but elevated. The staff is so so helpful in leading you toward something unique and interesting. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever tasted in terms of wine and vermouth. The hummus and mezze selection is off the hook. It is so so good. I also love the crudo and the liver mousse. The little wine shop is also great for a quick pop in and pick up. Always easy parking. Such a gem.

Google
This is a fantastic local restaurant. The food is fresh, well balanced, creative, and unlike any other restaurant in the area. Some of the most popular dishes you can count on always being on the menu (e.g. lamb shank and crudo) while others are constantly changing so for regulars, there is always something new to try. And the service is professional while still being relaxed. A good place for an afternoon glass of bubbly or an extended dinner with friends. Check it out.

Google
This place, the food, the wine, it’s all damn incredible. The owners have clearly put so much intention to every detail of this menu. The space itself is very relaxing, and the staff are very attentive and well informed about the wine list and have a great understanding of the winemakers that they have on hand. Don’t sleep on the fried potatoes, duck liver mousse, and the lamb shank. I can’t wait to keep coming back here for years to come. Very excited to have a go to place for natural wine and incredible food.

Yelp
Attention to quality flavored cuisine meets local hangout. If we only would live closer by... We made reservations via Resy, but probably would have been fine walking in tonight. There's a dining room with a wine store section at the front and the other half is a bar with some more tables. It was quiet got a 6 pm Saturday seat but picked up quickly. Service was personable, attentive and loved that they were so accommodating. I couldn't decide on a Primativo red or Pinot Gris white, so I got half pours of each! Now for food. The Yellowtail Crudo was awesome. Fresh, citrusy, coconut milk with a little spice touch. The fried potatoes were da bomb. Watch out cause they're filling. Lastly. Rounding out wax the Black Cod Tajine. Good but I wanted the freshness of crudo instead of the tomato based sauce with olives over accompanying basmati rice. Finishing off the meal was a Chocolate Crémeux that was deliciously rich with brûlée bananas and whipped cream. Had a wonderful little crunch and blended so wonderfully with the bananas and cream in one bite. The table beside was enjoying a flight of wines plus their canned fish with bread. I'm looking to come back another time to eat around the menu. Enjoy!

Yelp
Recommended by acclaimed winemaker Martha Stoumen, the service, food, and wine were all spectacular. Every dish pictured here I'd order again (the bing cherry and olive crostini we gobbled down so blissfully that I failed to take a photo). Their bottle shop is super legit, as well. We live 45 minutes away in Marin, but will absolutely drive back to dine here again! What a treasure trive of fresh, creative, and delicious dishes in a setting that made us immediately feel at home.

Food, service and wine were all delicious. What a great find during our visit! Highly recommend a reservation

Yelp
Gem of a spot in downtown Sebastopol. Very unique fare without pretension. Much appreciation for the out of the box wine list. The room could use some warmth. Must return.

Yelp
Before seeing a show at The Hopmonk we came to the Redwood for dinner. Very convenient, we parked in the Hopmonk parking lot which is directly across the road from the Redwood. The Redwood is a combination Wine Bar -Restaurant and it is excellent at both. Walked in, we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Nice vibe to the restaurant. Good menu, nice amount of choices. We were told by our server the food comes "family style" with share plates which we enjoy. We ordered glasses of Jupiter Rosato, a super juicy and flavorful wine which was great. We ordered the Delicata squash appetizer which came with cured olives, pepitas, Stracciatella, brown butter vinaigrette. wonderful starter! Entrees wer coriander roasted pork collar with leeks, ridicchio, quince, celery and whole grain mustard. Also had black cod steamed in a fig leaf with cherry tomatoes, coconut milk, eggplant and preserved lemon. Both were excellent! Service was friendly and laid back. There is also a couple of racks of wines by the bottle that are on the menu and also for sale. We bought a bottle of French Cabernet Franc. The Redwood is an excellent addition to the Sebastopol dining scene.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted to try a restaurant we've not experienced and was able to find Redwood with the help of Yelp. The restaurant had a cool laid back feel. My wife is vegetarian and they had some nice choices. We started with a dish of Fried Chickpeas. Then the Route 1 Sourdough Bread and Butter was tasty. The Fried Potatoes were really temperature hot served with a nice aioli. Route 1 Pita & and Babaganosh was our favorite dish. I enjoyed the Yellowtail Crudo. The service was attentive and friendly. We look forward to returning:)

Yelp
Made it in for our visit tonight - and now can't believe it's taken us over a year to get in here. The space is airy, light and tells you exactly what it is: an upscale neighborhood wine bar casual enough for happy hour and sophisticated enough for a date night or dinner with friends. The wine list is the most creative and unpredictable of anyplace else in Sonoma county I can think of - hyper-local varietals with an impressive number of European selections. We nibbled on the shishito peppers and smoked trout dip - both were fresh, well executed and generously portioned. Staff was super friendly and happy to answer questions - we will definitely be back!

Joe H.

Yelp
We had a great dinner for two. The food was really delicious -- it's a classy but unpretentious environment, and we were happy with the vegetarian options. We're not wine experts, and I'm often hesitant to deal with fancy wine people, but the waiter recommended a glass of wine for me and a local IPA for my partner, and we liked both a lot. All in all a really nice experience! I realized I left my credit card there and we live ~40 miles away, so I called them and they kindly popped it in the mail for me. Nice folks!

Yelp
Checked this place out after searching Yelp and Google for a winery/wine bar restaurant that was still open late-ish, on a Monday evening. At first, we drove right past it but finally spotted it when on foot. The ambiance inside was giving me deja vu of an Asian fusion brewery spot in Tahoe interestingly... (Tahoe National Brewing). Service was very friendly and the menu was a mix of familiar and unique. We had recently seen a clip about "tinned fish" so it was fun to spot it in the sidebar and give it a try. It was great! I'd go back just for that. It's nice they pair it with chips so you're paced to eat it in little bites. The gem salad was delicious (especially with our added side topping of sardines ). The fried potatoes were good but very rich for only two of us splitting the whole portion. The natural wine was yummy - kind of felt like what cask is to beer. One of us was not a big fan of the type of mushroom in the vegetarian dinner plate, but the other loved it; so - a mixed bag! I can't tell how I felt about the cardamom panna cotta... but I don't regret trying it? The bill felt a little steep for this more tapas-style meal, but we had a really nice experience, surrounded by people seemingly catching up with long lost friends.

Yelp
Wow if I lived here I'd be hanging out at the redwood all the time. Delicious snacks and fun wine list! I really loved the pita with the full selection of dips, and the crispy potatoes were addictive. Great vibes, friendly staff, variety of seating to fit your mood. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Cute little place that was very charming and good for wine and dessert. We didn't stay long but me and 2 girlfriends had some wine, bread and dessert. The Meyer Lemon Yogurt cake was amazing, it was very dense and it was almost like an olive oil cake. The bread and butter was also great. The butter was really good, I don't know what kind of butter it was but we loved it and ate most of it. The server was helpful with the wine selection and was able to take his time with us since it was slow inside.

Yelp
My husband and I came here with a couple of friend's who we were visiting on a Friday night. Parking is super easy, there is street parking or a lot next door. We ended up ordering tons of dishes that we all shared together. Some of the dishes change depending on what they get in stock/time of year and there is also tons of wine to order from. **Liberty Duck Liver Mousse: $14, I absolutely loved! The mousse didn't have a strong liver smell/taste; which I preferred. **Citrus and Pink Celery salad: $15, has yogurt, hazelnuts, Aleppo, pomegranate vinaigrette. **Scallop Crudo: $16; comes with fennel, kumquat, olive and pink peppercorn. This was one of my favorites; fresh, light and a wonderful starter! **Route 1 Pita and Dip: $22 (for all three); Chickpea Hummus w/ Za'atar, Baba Ghanoush w/ Sumac and Labneh w/ herbs and Baharat. **Arroz Negro: $25; sautéed squid, pimentons and lemon. Love this dish as well; the squid was cooked perfectly and loved the rice that it comes with. Such a simple yet complex flavored dish! **Tinned fish; Octopus in butter: $22; comes with potato chips and pickles. Who would have thought that octopus from a can would taste so good?! **Dark Chocolate Creme: $10; burnt white chocolate, bruleed banana, sarsaparilla whipped cream. What a way to end the night with this wonderful treat! Dessert person or not; this is a MUST try! Overall atmosphere is really nice and staff was amazing! I can't wait to come visit again; this will definitely be my go-to.

Yelp
Food was amazing and very reasonably priced for the high quality. Yellow tail crudo was the fave with the plouts. Skip the sourdough and anchovies and instead put them on the fried potatoes! We also thoroughly enjoyed the ricotta tartine , lamb, cod and broccolini. Would do it all again!

Yelp
Fantastic service. Outstanding food. We had mushrooms, potatoes, snap pea salad, baba ghanoush, cheese plate, olive oil cake, and chocolate cremuex. Every one was excellent.

Yelp
This place has delicious wine and well curated food. It's exactly what you'd hope for, if you care about the thought and detail of it all. Owners are always here, every single day, and they make the place feel friendly. It's a great addition to the Sonoma County dining/drinking scene.

Yelp
Yum yum. Just as everyone says - great food, interesting wine, zero pretense, very chill. Also, open during the day, which worked great for our day after an early afternoon wine tasting. The four of us enjoyed: Wine: Guthrie Family 'Jurassique' Grenache Blanc, very tasty and a fun label to boot. Food: Fried potatoes (awesomely crunchy and creamy), ham & melon, heirloom tomatoes, pork ribs, the full pita & dip trio. Slightly too much food for the group :)

Yelp
The Redwood Wine just opened up their brick & mortar and it is literally everything downtown Sebastopol has been lacking when it comes to watering holes. The ambiance is just perfect, it's not super fancy or too casual, not too loud so you can have a conversation easily. It was awesome to see how diverse the room was too - folks of all ages and types were enjoying themselves. You can walk up & sit at the bar or have a seat at a table. The flexibility this space offers is really refreshing. We went with a group of 6 and had the loveliest seat in the window! I loved that I could see the action happening in the kitchen/bar but it felt more private than sitting at the bar. Our server was so sweet and attentive to our needs. We all ordered wine by the glass off of their extensive menu. The wines they offer rotate pretty often (about every 2 weeks) so there's always something new to look forward to trying. They have a cute retail area with lots of bottles and other goodies to take home too. We ordered a bunch of different small and large plates, they have a lot of options for different dietary needs which I appreciate as a vegetarian surrounded by omnivores. We shared the cheese plate, pita + all the dips, fried potatoes, roasted carrots and squid. The pita & dips were my favorite, the pita was served warm and really the best I have ever had alongside the dips. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse which has a fancier name than I can remember and is not to be skipped! I was blown away by the texture and flavors. They let us split our check 3 ways which was great (some places don't like to do that) and I was actually really surprised at how reasonable our bill was for the amount of food and glasses of wine that were drank! We will definitely be here regularly and love having this gem on South Main Street.

Yelp
Imagine a restaurant where the chef brings great experience (Khom Loi), and the emphasis is on the highest quality versions of classic Mediterranean and Asian dishes...but there is no pretentious explanation given as you're served, just the plate that delivers a salivating reaction. Your mind wonders "how is it possible I'm eating these amazing dishes without some fru-fru presentation?", and "where did they come up with this amazing wine list?" Enter the unassuming Redwood Cafe and find the value of a straight ahead meal that doesn't stop delivering. Simple, yet creative, and unbound by expectations of fancier spots - that kind of makes it all the better, doesn't it? Peach salad with cucumbers & cumin sauce dressing? Amazing. Tuna crudo that is so fresh it doesn't need the ponzu sauce, but that when you taste it in combination you can't believe it? Yep. Bring in the pork pate, please, and have a simple(ly) wonderful piece of fresh chicken marinated in Mediterranean spices...made us giddy, and planning to go back and try the rest! Final notes: wines, as mentioned, are esoteric but if the Zambian Chenin and Vino Verde are an indication, you'll find some gems here. Don't leave without trying dessert - Strawberry Granite with cream was delicious, but even out passed by the cheese course paired with a cold white port - wow! Enjoy!

Yelp
A new favorite restaurant in Sebastopol. The food is delicious - fresh, inventive, prepared with care - and the service is great, with attention toward crafting a complete food and drink experience. We love ordering in waves and sharing everything (a great date spot!). Favorites: the duck liver mousse, pork pate and the lamb shank. All of the dishes we've tried have been delicious.

Mike S.

Yelp
Wow! We loved it. The duck was so good that I doubt my kid will eat mine anymore. The lamb shank was equally as amazing. Daniel, our server, was the happiest server. We could see the chefs were laughing while cooking... Definitely their passion. We'll be back!

Yelp
Once again: stunning! I had thinly sliced tongue, done perfectly, with a caper/green herb sauce and harissa/chickpea bread... one of the best things I've ever eaten. Delicate yet packed with flavor. Max had chicken salad/hummus pita which was good but a little bland; he was wishing for maybe a spicy sauce? Lemony cornmeal cake with crème fraîche and berries. Amazing wine recommendations--delighted to see them listed on our receipt, so we can remember what we had. This place is par with cooking at the new Goldfinch catty-corner up the street, just not a fancy or romantic interior. More casual. A fabulous addition to downtown Sebastopol. Really great cooking!

Teri M.

Yelp
Just a few photos of some of the delicious dishes we had at The Redwood! If you want inventive dishes that are made with freshest ingredients and prepared to perfection then this is the place for you! The knowledgeable staff will assist you with a wonderful selection of wine parings as well! You can tell by all of the Regulars there that this is definitely a neighborhood hot spot! It was more than dinner rather a whole experience! We loved it and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful addition to the local food scene. Great young couple who really know their stuff (wife is chef & husband is somm). Natural wines can be hit or miss. My husband and I really enjoyed the short Sunday course they offered at the restaurant. It's clear they put a lot of thought into their wine list. It's unique and exciting. The bites are also delicious and designed with an eye to pairing. We'll be back!

Michael D.

Yelp
Incredible natural wines and amazing food- go to the spot all of the winemakers drink at! The redwood is one of the most exciting new restaurants in the Bay Area post pandemic. Veggie forward intensely flavored small plates that connect with their vibrant selection of by the glass wines. A hidden gem with amazing service!
google avatar

Will B.

Yelp
I did not love it but I also did not hate it. The staff was great and the food tasted fine but was also very odd, my biggest complaint was there should have been more entrees. Most of the dishes were not big enough to share for more than 2 people and the entree size plates were really good for one person but there needs to be more entrees that appeal to more people. Maybe spaghetti carbonara or beef strogonoff!
google avatar

Sierra P.

Yelp
This place is very pretty and the food is quite delicious. They have a great selection of retail as well and a cute little bar.

Yelp
Went with local winemaker friends for dinner at The Redwood last Saturday. The food was excellent - amazing cod served with a delicious sun gold sauce, masterful grilled octopus, just great technique across the board
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in a very long time. The food is just incredible. Highly recommended even if you have to make a trip for it.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
This place is the PERFECT mix of ambiance, INCREDIBLE food combinations you would never think of that are SO GOOD, and down-to-earth Sebastopol vibes. The music was stellar. I walked in sweaty wearing a flannel and was greeted just the same, and didn't feel uncomfortable in the space.
google avatar

Yelp
Delightful food, great service, exciting wine list. I went solo for a quiet moment away from the house and it really filled me up on all the levels. I had a fresh salad that was absolutely top notch salad magic, they are not messing around. Two delicious glasses of wine and the liberty duck pate later and it was just the break from work and kids that I needed. Can't wait to come back and bring friends.

Larry B.

Yelp
Back again and not disappointed. The menu is constantly getting new delicious additions while the wines, beers and other beverages are fantastic. I wish more people knew how special this place is.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful addition to Sebastapol culinary offerings. My husband and I sampled small plates of delicious crispy potato's, a bright spring snap pea salad and Route 1 pita with hummus, baba ghanoush and labneh. The baba is a standout with a hint of smokiness! Had a lovely Chenin Blanc - dry but full flavored. Everything was made fresh and the service was excellent. Definitely will go back! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very nice waiter and owners. Great wine selection. Small tasty plates. Ambiance is ok, quiet the night we were there. Hidden gem, try it out.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Prompt service that guided us through the menu and answered all our questions. The shank and octopus dishes were excellent!

George C.

Yelp
We ate here twice recently. The staff is very upbeat and clearly wants to see you have a good time. The owner's and staff know their wines and are very enthusiastic about helping you. Their food portions are generous. The first night we had an appetizer and shared the lamb shank and couscous. It was plenty of food and wonderful. The lamb was perfect, and the couscous was loaded with flavor, including a bit of peppery heat. I am home writing this review, and want more... The second night there were three of us. We had 3 appetizers, including the pita bread with 3 dips. We had intended to try a fourth appetizer, but the first three filled us. They may be gourmet, but no tiny portions here. Both nights felt like an entertaining evening out.

Yelp
It's been a few weeks since we ate at The Redwood but I can't get the place out of my mind. I continue to crave just about every dish on the menu along with a glass of one of their delicious and highly unusual wine selections. We went with a large group and thus I was able to taste just about everything on the menu. We also had several bottles of wine, but that was barely a dent in their huge list of local and imported wines. Bottom line is that virtually everything on the menu is from a virtuoso chef, perfectly done, filling, and with amazing flavors, presentations and textures. Squid with inked rice, the mezze platter, citrus salad, deep fried potatoes, and the lamb shank were all great. The Liberty Duck house made pate is mild, creamy, and the best I have ever eaten. For a snack or dinner or just a glass of wine, you will love The Redwood.

Stuart G.

Yelp
This is a very good restaurant. Period. I've live in SF, New York, and almost a decade in Sebastopol, and I do not qualify my statement above. The food is really good. The wine is well curated. The service is not only good but friendly, accommodating, and appreciative: we've rolled in with our toddler three times, including once with another toddler and a preschooler and nothing but love and great food. Just picked up take out from there, and they we're keeping it warm for me, and ten minutes later when I got home everything was hot and their papas bravas crunchy, the lam soft and delicious, and the pork collar super yummy. Again. Very good restaurant.

Camille S.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the wine list is wonderful too. I'm so grateful to have a place like this in Sebastopol.

Will C.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered Redwood's pita with three middle eastern dips as a take-out. We were very pleased and impressed with the varied flavors. The pitas seemed home made. It was all as delicious as it was copious. We highly recommend it. Can't wait to return and try other things on the menu. Will C.

Gail K.

Yelp
My husband and I went to The Redwood for the 1st time for an early dinner and really liked it. The restaurant was nicely remodeled from the former Ginger Tai restaurant. Their wine selection was great. Most of the wines I had never seen before, even the California wines. They also have beer for the beer drinkers. We ordered the Pita with their 3 different sauces and it was excellent. We also had the Spring Snap Pea Salad which was also great too. We thought the portions were good sized too. We hope to be back soon. The service was also great.
