Everything was great. Removed one star due to the breakfast buffet. For a 5 star hotel you would expect more variety. We went as soon as the buffet opened, but the food was not fresh. Also, the walls/doors are so thin you can hear everything. On the other hand, the service was great and staff were always more than happy to help. The view is stunning and the hotel amenities/lobby is perfect.

We really enjoyed the beautiful view from our bedroom, which added a relaxing touch to our stay. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was another highlight—not only was the food enjoyable, but we were lucky enough to get a window seat with a lovely view. The hotel also offers paid parking for guests, which was convenient. We appreciated the direct access from the hotel to the lake, making it easy to enjoy the surrounding nature. Additionally, the communal laundry room was a helpful amenity for longer stays

My recent stay at The Rees was marred only by my breaking my ankle at the airport on arrival! However, from the moment I arrived at The Rees, the staff were AMAZING - helped me to my apartment, arranged things to make life easier, checked in on me, brought up my ordered groceries! And even though alot of my holiday was on my couch, the view was, as always wonderful! I felt so lucky to have these fabulous caring people around when I needed them. Thank you so much to all who helped me, sorry I can't remember all your names! God Bless you all for your caring & 5 star service. 😊

We stayed for a week at The Rees in an Executive apartment with the penthouse. Just so anyone else knows what you get is 2 separate apartments with a shared entrance (and internal adjoining doors) with the downstairs being the main one bedroom apartment with kitchen, living room, balcony etc and the penthouse being a 2nd apartment with just a bedroom, balcony and bathroom.||The rooms were excellent and the hotel staff really attentive and considerate. But I can only give it 4 stars (not 5) because of 3 reasons;||1 - no matter how many times we kept turning on the reverse cycle A/C it didn't stay on the room(s) were constantly cold. And no it wasnt because we opened the balcony door. After several tries we managed to work out how to at least have hte bathroom underfloor heating on while we were there. You'd think it was set up so the heating just worked when there were guests, or even pre-heated the rooms before our arrival. We were left to huddle around the gas fireplace which was lovely but would return to a freezing place every afternoon / evening.||2 - The hotel restaurant food was pretty sub-par for what you'd expect when paying this much to stay. The breakfast buffet was 'ok' but the dinner options were over-priced for what they were. We only ate there once for dinner.||3 - The gym was small, cold and accessed via the carpark and it only had basic equipment. Literally one old treadmill and a stationary bike and a stack of dumbbells. I'd expect a sauna, multiple machines and not have to shuffle through the carpark in sweaty gym gear and freezing temperatures back to my room.

We stayed for two nights in June and had the best experience at the Rees. Stand out was Enrico in the restaurant as he was absolutely charming and super professional. We ate at the restaurant both nights and the food was 10/10 - wagyu steak was the best we have tasted. Lakeview room was perfect, immaculate and the shower was amazing. It was a special anniversary for us and the staff made it very special which was much appreciated. Thank you so much for making our stay special and memorable.

Absolutely horrible experience at this hotel avoid at all costs. It is in no way a five or even four star property the rooms are in disrepair and the advertised views are non-existent. Beyond this my family fell ill eating the absolutely disgusting food served in the hotel restaurant. If you are forced to stay here I recommend you eat elsewhere. To make matters worse the incredibly rude staff were dismissive of our feedback about the food despite only the people in our group that ate there getting sick at the same time. We were offered ginger ale as a solution. Illness aside the food was barely edible. The stay was also riddled with a mistakes from the staff who clearly don’t have any means of communication with one another as we frequently repeated requests throughout the stay. There are far better accommodation options around Queenstown especially for the price point.

Rees Hotel and Restaurant made my 60th birthday super memorable. They went the extra mile to make us feel special. The restaurant staff were so caring. Trent the head chef really took time to ensure our experience was top class and it was. Thank you Rees Hotel. We will be back again.

My wife and I stayed at The Rees for three nights in mid April and were booed into room 714 which is the top level with the best views. Unfortunately we needed to be relocated at 10.30pm on our first night due to the constant traffic noise that goes past on the street almost immediately in line with that level of the property. In addition, there are very bright street lights outside on the road above that shine into the stairwell that light up the bedroom you are sleeping in. Now, it is important to note that this is not the fault of the Hotel and is simply a matter of fact. To their absolute credit, they were happy to move us to room 610 one level down and the difference was chalk and cheese. Very happy and extremely appreciative. They did everything they could to make us happy. I would highly recommend though, that you make sure when booking that level 7 is something you are well aware of and if you are a light sleeper or like your room dark that you ask for level 6 straight up. The views are almost the same and you will be far happier for it. |Breakfast was ok - those buffets aren’t really my style - but the beds and pillows were excellent and the free shuttle and parking are nice touches as are the chocolates each night on turn down. |Like I said, all’s well that ends well and as far as I’m concerned it’s what you do to fix things when they don’t go well and on that scale the Rees are 10/10|Thanks for having us.

Yelp
Stayed there for three nights while on a long trip and it was great to be able to rest up a bit. The hotel is beautiful and the room was roomy and comfortable and included a sofa and sitting area. We had an excellent view of the lake and a large patio. We especially enjoyed the convenience of the mini-bar and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant also provided excellent food and service for us on site. They have a shuttle that runs back and forth to downtown every hour, so we did not have to pay for ride shares or cabs.

Yelp
Location: 5 min drive to downtown and about 10-15 min to the airport. The views are stunning from the lobby and the rooms. There is a free shuttle to downtown but it's best to confirm as some of the set times are only available by request. Rooms: We had the superior 2 bedroom. We had a lovely mountain view from the patio. The fireplace is warm and cozy, even if it's not real wood. The master bedroom opens to the view but the second bedroom is on the smaller side. Kitchen and living room were spacious and everything was very clean. There are heated floors in the bathroom and heated towel racks. The washer and dryer were very good. Service: Front desk service was hit or miss. We checked in twice after spending one night in Te Anau. Some of the staff were friendly and some were stoic. We were unable to eat at the restaurant because it was booked up but the bar menu was delicious and we were able to enjoy the view while eating. They held our luggage for us several times. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever come back. The view is gorgeous and the spacious apartment was lovely.

Yelp
Prior to arriving in Queenstown, I had reached out to the concierge to plan an excursion and arrange transportation from the airport. The concierge was able to assist and responded to every email in a timely manner. From the moment we arrived in Queenstown, everything was seamless. Our driver met us at the gate at the airport. He helped with our luggage and drove us around the city for a short tour. The hotel itself is beautiful. From the lobby to the rooms, everything is clean and immaculate. We had booked a 1 bedroom apartment, but were pleasantly surprised when the woman at the reception desk told us that we had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. As soon as we walked in to our room (7121), the first thing I noticed was the view from the living room. We had a panoramic view of the lake and mountains and it was breathtaking. Our apartment was spacious and clean. They supplied us with laundry detergent and dishwasher soap which was great. We used the washer, dryer and dishwasher multiple times during our stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and I was able to make my son breakfast in the morning several times. The kitchen and bathroom floors are heated, which is such a luxury. The fireplace was easy to use as well. I loved that we had an indoor and outdoor dining table. The bed was very comfortable and they also have a pillow bar and we were able to get customized pillows during our stay. Our room had a sliding door that opened to the living room. We would keep it open to wake up to the view every morning. There is a stroller friendly walking trail into town, which takes about 45 minutes. The time goes by quickly because the scenery is such a wonderful distraction. We tried to take the trail at least once a day to get some exercise and soak in the fresh air and views. They also offer a shuttle that runs every hour. The drivers are so personable and helpful. They would load our stroller in and out of the shuttle every time we used it. We had arranged for transportation back to the airport at the end of our stay. Roman was so nice with assisting us with our luggage. I don't have a single complaint about this hotel. It's the best hotel we have ever stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Yelp
Great experience in queenstown! Everything was seamless from check in to check out. When we arrived it was a little busy but after a short wait we were promptly and efficiently checked in. Our luggage was taken to our room and we were met there by hotel staff to show us how to use all the features of the room such as the heated floors in the bathroom and the tablet for room service. We had a lake view room which was breathtaking! We enjoyed spending hours sitting on our balcony taking it all in. The best was very comfortable, the room was very clean, the bathroom was very modern and nice, and they had a shuttle that would take you into town and back just requiring you to book in advance. Probably a 7 min ride into the city center, but nice to be removed a little especially if you are looking for a nice view! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay excellent hotel!

Yelp
Nice setting, helpful staff, good restaurants but quite isolated. Even if the hotel offers a free shuttle into town once an hour, you permanently have the feeling to be stuck in a golden cage. Btw I was shocked that the hotel doesn't have a pool, considering the high prices...

Yelp
Decent villa type apartment suite hotel room things. I guess there's apartments and there's the hotel side. I dunno. I do not live here. I was just a visitor. I assume I was at the hotel. We had a great view of the lake off the balcony. Also, you can take about 100 stairs down to a fantastic running trail that spans one whole side of the lake. It also leads right into town. The trail is the best part of the entire place. The gym was in a windowless basement type room, but I think that was because the running trail was so good that they wanted to discourage anyone from running on a treadmill. I ran here twice. And I walked to town on here twice. Yeah. The hotel itself was nice too. But the running trail. OMG guys. The trail.

Yelp
Awesome view, pictures are real. Get the lakeside room. Bathroom floors are heated which is a plus. There's a free shuttle that goes into the city every hour. Staff are super nice. You can also book excursions at the concierge desk. Didn't get to try the restaurant but looked cute.

Yelp
view is fantastic. Lake Wakatipu is really closed from rooms. Every single morning is beautiful. I highly recommend to come this cite.

Yelp
Great place to stay. We traveled NZ for 28 days and spent our last three at the Rees. Very clean, great staff, and right in the heart of the area. Walking distance to many pubs, water taxi available. Can't be beat!

Yelp
Nice hotel with great views but really crappy location if you want to do anything. Free shuttle service only available at limited times and for the first eleven people who make a reservation. Next time we visit we will be selecting another option closer to the action.

Yelp
What a lovely property is The Rees!! Commodious rooms, well-maintained, well-appointed, and spotlessly clean. A large and diverse staff extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating; from the Front Desk to the Concierge, to the Bartender, to the Dining Room Wait Staff, to Housekeeping, they will ensure your visit is an enjoyable one! The Dining Room is small, making reservations necessary for dinner, but the location offers magnificent views of the lake and the Remarkables beyond and the cuisine is excellent. On the hour shuttle service to and from downtown and all its attractions is provided - very convenient. We have no compunctions in offering our hearty recommendation of The Rees and are confident you will concur.

Yelp
Very convenient location and attentive and helpful staff. The rooms are luxurious and have great view of the lake and mountains from the windows/balcony. You can take a 40 minute walk to Queenstown by the lake trail or use their free shuttle service to get to town. The concierge helps with arranging any activity during your stay and there is free wifi in the rooms.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I paid $160 a night after all the bullshit and we split it, so it was more like 80$ a night for the each of us and let me tell you....it was money well spent. This place is awesome! They have been very accommodating and the views from our room are amazing. I couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend this place to any couple that is looking for a relaxing and romantic night or two in queenstown.
