D.C. Is Catching Royal Wedding Fever and Drink Company, the Four Seasons Are On It | Eater DC

"I saw Drink Company racing to transform the former Eat the Rich raw bar into a Royal Wedding Pub pop-up running May 4–May 20 (after a Godzilla-themed installation ends April 29), filling the space with flowers, sparkly drinks, and a replica of the cake that’ll be served at the actual wedding. The projects team plans to recreate the columns and stained glass windows of St. George’s Chapel while making the back of the bar look like Buckingham Palace’s throne room. Themed cocktails ($13–$14) include a cucumber French 75 called “Put a Ring on It” paired with a fake engagement ring, a “Markle Sparkle” topped with edible glitter, and a “Strawberry Cuppa” Scotch and strawberry vermouth cocktail served in Waterford crystal teacups and saucers. The bar also plans to open at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 to host a viewing party of the actual wedding." - Tierney Plumb

Google
On a recent business trip myself and a colleague stumbled across the reg. It was a very happy accident. The staff were delightful, the food was delicious. And I found the whole place to be a reasonable value. Will definitely be visiting again next time I stay in Waterford!

Google
Lovely bar with a spot to sit for everyone. We came for the good food and live music. If you have the chance, make sure to see Anthony Roche. He is an absolutely amazing musician and kind person. He was our favorite musician we saw during our time in Waterford. The restaurant area is cozy and the food was perfect!

Google
The place has a great location. Unfortunately, the starter was disappointing, the bruschetta needs a lot of improvement. The potatoes were not bad, but the worst was the banoffee. It had too much cream, almost no caramel and zero banana. Not recommended.

Google
Our first meal in Ireland. We came here on the recommendation of the staff at the Waterford Marina Hotel. We needed to eat and and kill some time before checking in. The Reg provided both. The location is super convenient, literally in the heart of the historic Viking Triangle and named after Reginald's Tower. You do want to walk here. If there is parking I didnt see it. Food was pretty typical pub food. I got the curry and SO got a burger. Both were excellent. Hard to beat good food in a great location with excellent service. Recommended.

Google
Down from dublin and have to say both nights Adam and Andrew made my night the lads are so accommodating will make any drink and so friendly. They made my trip to Waterford very memorable. The food was absolutely delicious and was no problem for a fussy eater like me to give me what I like, i love a black Russian and the lads went out of their way to find the recipe and make it for me. They made time to chat to everyone and make them feel special. Them lads are worth their weight in gold. Thank you the reg for a wonderful time.

Google
Lovely staff very accommodating and quick. My steak sandwich was delicious and delivered so swiftly I was unsure of its quality before tasting however my worries were put to rest from Bite 1!!! My wife’s duck was also nice and arrived with my sandwich so we could eat together. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Waterford.

Google
The sweets and savory foods were very tasty. The atmosphere was historic and a bit reserved, but nice. This was a nice experience to have for my friends first high tea. The only thing I would like more of is different types of teas.

Google
The bar sits under one of the most iconic locations in Waterford. You’d be legally blind if you missed it. It is a wonder alright, and having a pint underneath it almost makes makes you feel like a Viking. Well almost. A location not to be missed, but don’t let the more churlish bartenders make you think it’s their show. The show is Waterford, the city is timeless, enjoy the

Yelp
Food and drinks were great. The staff were wonderful and very attentive. We were a party of eight from Florida.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great staff and fabulous live music. Fun local pub. Live music was fantastic and a great location.

Yelp
Great food and a pub type atmosphere. Outstanding muscles and very good 1/2 duck diner.

Yelp
The posted menu vs the menu that I was given seem to be drastically different in price - notice salad prices. See pictures. Super slow service - so much so that people got up and left. The wait for food was also slow. Food was fair and very limited options. Even bar options were limited. Place is a divey bar. Wish I had chosen another place

Yelp
The location and decor is just phenomenal and honestly if the food was garbage it's kind of worth it for the look. But the food and drinks AREN'T bad at all. Both sirloin steaks with fries and it was seasoned and cooked well and the pepper sauce was really fantastic. Got a Sakura cocktail and a French martini and both were super delicious. Staff was pretty attentive but went during a shoulder month (April) so there wasn't a super big crowd to deal with (and was also eating dinner on a Monday evening).

Yelp
We stopped by late Sunday on Mother's Day in Ireland. We were able to be seated quickly and the food was delicious. The service took great care of us

Yelp
Best meal I've had in Ireland during my vacation here. Amazing fish and chips and creme brûlée. If you can make it this is the place!

Yelp
This is an old bar that been around a long time and of the walls and dollar bills on the wall could talk they would tell an interesting story. We stopped in for a quick beverage and dessert. We ordered a Jamison and Ginger with a Cranberry Vodka with Creme Brûlée. I love how they serve their mixed drinks in Ireland in that they give you the vodka over ice and a bottle of cranberry juice for you mix the two together. We both enjoyed our drinks however the Creme Brûlée was ok. The top was crusty as expected but the Creme was super runny. Was not a fan of this particular desert prepared by The Reg as this is normally so tasty. They do offer live music that starts at 9:00 on most nights.

Yelp
We got fish & chips and short rib. Everything was devine & the people were lovely. Definitely make a reservation when you go, we got lucky and we're seated on the patio.

Yelp
Service was great! I'll give them that. We ordered oysters on the half shell, calamari, seafood chowder, burgers and seafood pie. Oysters were really good, but would have been great if they had the cocktail sauce. It came with just lemons and I had to ask for the Tabasco. The calamari was good too; we ordered a second of that. Seafood - both chowder and pie - so-so... wouldn't order either again. The burgers, cheese was doubly smoked and overpowered the burger. The drinks. Ordered a Sprite, they didn't tell me all they had was a Sprite Zero (not regular) until they brought it to the table. Ordered their "Sex on the Beach" and barely (if any) a splash of orange juice. The virgin daiquiri (for our daughter) wasn't blended and looked nothing like a daiquiri. Not sure if the bartender knows drinks. If it wasn't for our waiter being diligent and sitting in the historic walled-booth, I'd be giving this place 1star.

Yelp
We were visiting from the States recently and a group of us visited this pub. Soooooo friendly, nice, and fun. That may be due to our Irish tour guides who taught us when to clap during songs and due to the singer telling us ahead of time the lyrics to Moonshiner, but.... we just had a fantastic time here. Everyone I saw here was either smiling or dancing. I definitely recommend it and, hopefully, will be back!

Yelp
...there be Pubs, an' then there be sweet spots like this that offer balance of good craft beers, amazing food, creeky furniture, dim light and great history. The Reg hits all five notes. 5 stars! (seafood chowder is great)

Ashling M.

Yelp
I came here with my friend and her son, we ordered him chicken and chips and when the chicken came out the middle was completely raw, although the waitress who dealt with the situation was very polite and apologetic, this is so unsafe, especially with it being for a kid, had she not cut into it before she gave it to him, he would have eaten it not knowing any better, a new meal was given free of charge which was appreciated but we simply cannot get over the way this food was served by to, clearly no temperature checks with their chicken in place, very unhappy.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The place is pretty big and has a ton of smaller rooms. They have a good selection of beers. I had the mushroom pasta with chicken. It was pretty tasty. The sauce on it wasn't too heavy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It seems like a locals place--everyone in there seemed to know someone. The only downside was it took forever to get the attention of someone so we could pay. Overall, the food here was tasty.

Yelp
Great place! We enjoyed dinner and a few pints of Guinness atop their beautiful roof top deck. The service was attentive and friendly and fish and chips we're devine! Try the Fish and chips and the Viking pie. Both we're delicious. The fish and chips we're crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside. The Viking pie was amazing! Mashed potatoes, cheese, cream sauce, and very fresh fish. Delicious, but not for the faint of heart because it's very filling. No wonder the Vikings stopped here, Waterford has delicious fish.

Yelp
After visiting the Waterford Crystal factory, the 7 of us were pretty hungry and went in search for some lunch. We stumbled upon The Reg which was right next to a historic tower and Viking ship. We were seated promptly and the atmosphere was typical pub. What we had: Onion Rings Chicken Cesar salad Protein Punch (their version of a chopped chicken salad) Fish and chips Pasta with tomato sauce Chicken Goujons The fish still had the skin on it so you have to pick the meat off which made eating it a little messy. The skin didn't taste very good so you wouldn't eat it. Why didn't they just skin the dang thing? The pasta was not good. And the salads were ok. Service was extremely slow but maybe it's because we are just typical Americans who rush through every thing.

Yelp
We found this restaurant online. It had great reviews and a wonderful menu, so we made reservations for dinner a week in advance. When we arrived, they sat us at a table in the bar under a very loud speaker. When we pointed out we had reservations, their explanation was they had large parties already filling the restaurant room. This was at 6:30 on a Saturday night! Needless to say, we couldn't stay and it was very difficult finding another place for dinner at that time. Very disappointed they would not honor their reservation.

Yelp
Food was very delicious, service super friendly and all around cozy place to enjoy. The Mulddon's Irish coffe creme brûlée was incredible. Hands down best creme brûlée I've ever had. It was perfectly torched on top with a custard that was deliciously smooth and a kick of Irish coffee that did not disappoint. Service was lovely on top of everything and although there was a buzz in the place, I was always well taken care of. Highly recommend The Reg for any sort of gathering, a cozy date night, celebrations, and the place also turns into a hot spot for dancing, Djs, and live music. You can't go wrong here!

Yelp
REALLY good food, absolutely delicious and great portion sizes, and VERY reasonable drink prices!! Everyone loved what they ordered (carbonara, ox tongue, mussels, fish and chips) and it came out quickly enough and HOT. Had a great amber ale there too which was 6€ for what must have been 20oz (more than a pint). Really decent prices for both food and drink considering! There's loads of small rooms and table setups and the staff are grand. A few of us (mature students) went in for dinner and drinks and were all extremely impressed. Definitely somewhere we'll come back to - wasn't touristy but also didn't feel so exclusive to locals that we were uncomfortable! Absolutely would recommend!

Yelp
Adequate food with the worst service of all time! Over an hour and a half to serve 1 person. And it wasn't busy. Staff sat around smoking while I waited for service. Classic example of overpriced food for location and view. Save your money. Look at Reginald's Tower from outside and eat ANYWHERE ELSE!

M A.

Yelp
Great food! Very friendly staff and good prices. Live music with very talented local artists just about every day of the week at no extra cost. I really liked the atmosphere in the pub and enjoyed my evening.
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by our tour guide and we're glad we listened! The fish & chips were perfectly prepared and my husband enjoyed the chicken wings he ordered. The bartender was super nice and let us taste a few different beers before deciding on a pint for each of us. If you're in town checking out the Waterford Crystal Factory, stop here for a pint or some chow.

Joyce J.

Yelp
Ordered fish of the day a nice fresh plank grilled halibut ringed with 3dozen fresh local mussels. It was on a bed of Irish mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and swimming in a creamy broth. Had to be the best seafood I have ever eaten. Service was great and the location is next to Reginald's Tower on the waterfront.

Yelp
Terrible service, 5 people at the bar but no service after 5 minutes. Young girls walk in and served immedietely.
google avatar

Trevor K.

Yelp
Very good food and great atmosphere. Lots of room and food choices. Beef burger was very good but did not serve Smithwicks.
google avatar

Carrie M.

Yelp
Good enough for food with live Music mid week. Pure tourist, the place was heaving with Americans. Patient and polite, it serves the purpose of checking the box for Live Irish Music with classic Molly Malone sing alongs.
google avatar

Chuck B.

Yelp
We had a burger, broccoli soup and seafood chowder. The food was very good, the service was INCREDIBLY slow and inattentive.

Bridget A.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great live music. I really enjoyed the vibe in this pub. We had a delicious entree followed by a creme brûlée dessert on the house. Their full bar was great and of course Irish drafts and some local Irish gin as well. We had a great night at The Reg

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick lunch and drinks! Great food! Cozy place to hang out- great service
google avatar

Yelp
The pan fried hake was in an inedible sauce. We sent it back paid for our beer and left. When a chef can ruin a piece of fish give the place a wide berth.
google avatar

Trish N.

Yelp
My new favorite place in my hometown, the Reg has a nightclub attached, wonderful snugs, nooks and crannies, a great menu in the restaurant and a rooftop terrace with a view of a building that went up in the 12th century. The blankies provided up there are as cute a touch as the great lighting. They could do with reducing the cost of a g&t though. A tonic mixer that isn't a baby is more economical for its' patrons as well as environmentallyfriendly now isn't it?!? Still though, a real gem in the heart of the Viking Triangle.
google avatar

Kristen D.

Yelp
What a cool spot!!! There are rooms in this tavern for everything; there's a live music, whiskey, mixology, and beer rooms, upstairs and outside patios. This place is a great size for group, or an intimate setting with the booths or corner spots. They mix up some great cocktails at a reasonable price. We didn't eat hear, but rather enjoyed music and afternoon drinks. The weather was perfect for patio sitting.

Yelp
Great place to go if you are in Waterford. I had the fish and chips. Very delicious. Good service.

Luis R.

Yelp
Decor was great. Everything looked new. Food was excellent and service was super attentive. 2nd best meal we had while visiting Ireland.

Amy K.

Yelp
I only come here when my friends do as the service is appalling, staff are very rude and your waiting ages to be served. Food is fine but atmosphere and staff need fixing. Would avoid the place all together if I could. Also place needs a good scrub, bathrooms are disgusting.

Ron R.

Yelp
Great pub fare. My wife loved the salad and I thought the chips were among the best I ever had!

Daniel D.

Yelp
The fish & chips were excellent, but this place is so poorly managed and all the staff run around yet don't seem to get anything done. Slow slow slow.
