15 LA Starters That Are The Main Event - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Veggie platters are best suited for book club potlucks and dinner parties you totally forgot about until just now. The relish tray at Birdie G’s, however, is built different. Served in a vintage cut-glass dish, it involves a full-on color wheel of fresh, pickled, and fermented farmers market vegetables with an incredible creamy five-onion dip dolloped in the middle. It’ll also feel like a wise decision after going hard on their steak frites and chocolate layer cake later." - brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox, brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

I chose to have lunch at The Relish Tray Bistro & Speakeasy to celebrate my 72nd birthday today, 5/1/25. I have dined there previously and enjoy what I call a French-style of dining; healthy local ingredients, perfect poriton sizes, excellent service, and a good variety of meal options. My husband chose the Shrimp Scampi, and I, the Salmon with Ameretto sauce and a side of fresh vegetables with a dill dip. The salmon and shrimp were cooked to perfection, and the sauces, while flavorful, did not overwhelm the taste of the fish but complemented them. The toasted herbed bread was a fine choice to serve with the shrimp for dipping into the sauce. The vegetables were crispy fresh. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio with the meal. I highly recommend this establishment and some of the different from typical Midwestern norm menu items, especially for those who seek portion sizes like I have experienced in France. We ordered from the Small Plate section. I left feeling energetic and satisfied. They do offer several types of burgers, fish dishes, and salads, and vegetarian selections. This was a nice place. It sounds like it's family-owned and the waitress was really nice. The menu has some great choices and I really enjoyed the German relish salad and the Mediterranean chicken. Went back and tried the beef bulgogi tacos and got the German relish salad again and they were phenomenal. There are a lot of good choices on this menu.

Our reunion committee hired Relish Tray restaurant to cater our 50th class reunion. Our food was horrible, services provided horrible, and very late with delivery of food. Main hot food was to be served at 6:15 pm, food arrived at 6:45 pm. Our fellow classmates waiting for the rest of the food, the gal ( from Relish Tray ) brings on 72 slider buns for sandwiches and we ordered food for 103 guests! I mentioned that not enough buns for our guests well Amber says that is all we need. How dumb of Amber. Then when pressed about why so late the gal says ( we got busy at the restaurant) , well Amber big mistake, take care of the catering job first! The reunion committee was upset in how this was handled. This is just an FYI if you are considering hiring Relish Tray for your next event !!

Love love LOVED the food here! It was so fresh and tasty 😋 Heather, our waitress, was also really amazing and made some great recommendations and was very knowledgeable! Not to mention that the food is plated beautifully and the flavor to match!

Great little bistro on the square. A fantastic variety of healthy foods to choose from with an incredible amount of flavor. They serve coffee, wine, and beer. Plates run $8-$15. We ordered the Huli-Huli chicken wrap, Ahi Tuna, Chicken Carnitas, Gyro, shrimp Louie Salad, and the chicken salad sandwich.

Overall bad experience, took well over an hour to get food and there were only three tables in the restaurant. When we did get food, the sloppy Joe is basically half of a ground up burger patty. My nephew had a hair in his wrap, to charge $15 for a sandwich and have it be this bad is a shame.

They were a no show for catering an event on 10/24 that we hosted as a non-profit. We confirmed in writing numerous times and called to confirm the morning of the event. It is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year that we use to support local high school scholarships. Incredibly disappointed in this and the seeming lack of remorse after ruining the dinner for the event. 0/10 recommend.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant in Downtown Baraboo. I've been a few times and always enjoyed my meal. I recommend the nachos & burger!

Yelp
Very disappointed with this restaurant/speakeasy. We were the only customers in the place and the speakeasy wasn't open. The food was fair for the cost and they served expired beer. The website should be updated indicating that the speakeasy is not open daily or is permanently closed.

Yelp
Speakeasy was closed due to only 2 employees being on shift, which was disappointing as that was the main reason we came from out of town. Our beers were expired. Strange atmosphere given we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. Portions were small and expensive. I would not recommend eatting here.

Yelp
This is a sweet little downtown Baraboo bistro. I have eaten there several times with friends, and we have all always loved the food. I can't think of a single complaint from anyone. Every dish is unique and beautifully presented. I saw one very bad review, and thought I better write what my experiences have been. The staff has always been friendly and efficient, and they always go out of their way to please. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This is one time when I wished I had not suggested a place for lunch. The service was agonizingly slow and the food was such a disappointment. The basil pink lemonade had one tiny brown leaf of something in it and tasted like a pool towel would smell after laying out a couple of days wet. I ordered the gyro salad and a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The soup was served after the salad instead of before and was barely warm with lots of lumps of what tasted to be raw flour in it. The gyros salad should have not been brought out period. Whole leaves of spinach, some cucumber slices, whole cherry tomatoes, and cold, dried out, and slightly burned "gyros" meat. Both were inedible as presented. My dining companion ordered a gyros and was disappointed as well. Clearly, these are menu items where not a lot of thought was given to the outcome. Our wait person never came back until we caught her eye to ask for our check. She took off the price of the soup and the drink-I paid for the $14.00 salad which I could not eat. Life's lessons learned.
