I work at a high-end wine bar, so my expectations were pretty high going in. I don't always like this about myself, but i try to keep an open mind. I walked by and said "why not," and decided to do a wine tasting. We sat outside at a cute patio table that sits on the corner of a busy intersection. This is a big positive for me, because who doesn't like people watching? The wine tasting is about 5$ which is insane. Insane as in I couldn't believe it was that inexpensive! Wine tastings where i work run anywhere from 12-20$ easy. The pours were hefty too. I'd say at least an ounce each, maybe even 1.5! I chose a a white, a rose, and a few red. You get 5 in the tasting by the way! The menu is pretty big too, with a wine for everyone's liking. I will say, most were pretty sweet. As someone who drinks varietals from all over the globe (not trying to sound pretentious I swear), I was kinda disappointed that most of the wines reminded me the wine coolers I drank in my early twenties. Luckily, those are very marketable and liked by your average consumer. I will say both the heathen and criminal were good, and reminded me of a 19 crimes/apothic red type of vibe. The charcuterie plate was eh. For 8$ it's pretty overpriced for what you get, but with the tastings being so affordable, I can see how they need the markup. Some dried dates (3), apricots (3) and prune/cherry/mystery fruit, accompanied by some "celebrations" butter crackers and deli counter cheeses like white cheddar. Definitely not worth 8$ and would not order again. I wanna note that the "whatever" wine is not only hilarious, but one of the weirdest things I've ever tasted. I really wonder if anyone drinks this concoction. I truly believe it's a bunch of old bottles dumped together, which like I said, is absolutely hilarious. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. The bartender was kind and welcoming. The wine is local and their message is cool and I like their spirit. Is it good wine? Sure. Would I come back? No. We left with 3 bottles though, because it's important to support industry people right now. Im happy it was open and we were able to enjoy some wine on a patio. I hope the community continues to support businesses like renegade.
