⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great date night spot! We sat outside on the covered patio, and the fire pits kept us warm, which was a nice touch. The menu is smaller with just a few appetizers and entrées, but everything we had was very good. They start you off with a small fish dish, followed by biscuits that were really good before your main meal. Our reservation was at 5:30, and we left around 7:00—it felt like a relaxed dining experience and never rushed. Our waitress Carly was great and really added to the experience. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful very nice staff, we had arrived just a few min early and the staff was so gracious to seat us. Menu is created daily. Presentation was beautifully done. The hot honey however didn't taste right. Did not need syrup with the French toast, it was not drowned in egg just the perfect amount. The blackened Salmon was lovely great taste, English muffin was a little spongy hard to cut. He said that the chicken sandwich was great, while he was worried about no mayonnaise he determined it was perfect the way it was and the pickles really brought out the flavor however he could have used a little more pickles. Upon asking for a To go box asked for more whipped cream, she came back and showed me the whipped cream before placing it in the bag. Much appreciated.

Outstanding experience! Wonderful flavors, beautiful presentations and warm welcoming staff. One of the few accessible places left that believes in amuse bouche. Definitely a perfect place for a special occasion. They enjoy their patrons enjoyment. We’re absolutely going back.

Gives you quaint and quiet feel. I had to ask a gentleman who was coming out of the inn side where the entrance is. He was polite and led me to the restaurant entrance. Asked if I’d like bar or table seating. Right after I settled in, he asked for my name and phone number, keyed into his iPad as am guessing to reflect that my seating was reserved at least in their system. The server was nice and polite. They do exude a flair for quiet elegant service , didn’t feel rushed in their ask of what you’d like to drink. They didn’t make me feel like eating solo isn’t typical. Great to not be asked if am waiting for someone. They made sure my glass of water is always refilled…little things matter. The food is solid 4 stars. I chose 2 small plates for dinner: octopus and tuna crudo. The tuna crudo was good, the raw jalapeños I wish would be better if pickled! They did provide the crunch but it didn’t provide for a cohesive delicate one bite being raw. The oil emulsion needed a little more salt or some kick to it. The octopus was nicely grill-charred and tender on the inside. The black bean ?? sauce was a tad bit overpowering. They had a wonderful list of desserts but I picked the berry coconut brûlée. It was surprisingly light and citrusy.

Amazing experience. The food was just chef’s kiss. Servers were attentive. Each dish I had impressed me one after the other. I had the grilled octopus as my appetizer. They offered a salmon tartare sample and cheddar biscuits which were delicious. For entree I had the beef tenderloin and I usually never finish my entrees but I ate everything. Writing this as I wait for my dessert because it was just that good!

My favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads. Charming, intimate, serving delicious food and cocktails. The service is European-style, so you won't be rushed; which I appreciate. Four stars bc the servers are casually attired. Atmosphere is four stars because of the inside space orientation. Patio and Inn spaces shine.

A Hidden Gem — Can’t Believe We Just Found It! My only complaint is that we didn’t discover this place sooner. It’s been around for 7 years, and we’ve lived in the area for nearly 18! There’s plenty of parking and just a short walk to the restaurant. The outside features a charming, covered courtyard (we’ll try it when it’s not so hot and humid). Inside, the rustic dining room is warm and cozy, with a small bar tucked in. The vibe is intimate and inviting. Service was excellent—friendly, fast, and very attentive. The food and drinks? Truly exceptional. Everything was fresh, creative, and beautifully presented. 📸 Check out the photos I posted—they’ll give you a better idea of how unique and well-composed the dishes are. What an awesome dining experience under BRIAN'S care on Friday night! Reserved table ready upon arrival with a warm greeting. Cocktails were delicious - the Moscato wine, the Dirty Martini & one of the signature drinks! 🍷 The cheese biscuits, the cheese biscuits with butter & fruit jam --- WOW, the pallet is set and off we go! The Crispy Brussels medley with bacon, granny smith apple, shallots, black pepper & honey champagne vinaigrette (😋) The Shrimp Fettuccine -handmade pasta, jumbo shrimp, garlic & basil pesto, candied pepita, shaved parmesan was DELICIOUS! East Coast Flounder cornmeal encrusted flounder, bok choy, corn cake, herb emulsion, tomato creme (SO TASTY! Ended with cappuccino & rum cake! Can't wait to return for a summer evening on the patio!!

We've dined at vegan restaurants in Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York City, and Asheville and are happy to report that there is an elegant vegan dining option in Norfolk. Four Eleven York is not a vegan restaurant, but there creative, thoughtful options for vegans and vegetarians, and we received an amuse-bouche, a bread course, and a dinner mint at the courtesy of the chef. As if the creative and complementary touches weren't enough, there is even a Brûlée vegan dessert option. We had the salad and sweet potato appetizers and the tofu steak and risotto entrées. Our server was delightful and took care to understand our eating styles. There are also some delicious cocktails and wines to boost the festive mood. I think the biggest thing that stands out here is that vegan and vegetarian diners are not afterthoughts or add-ons. The chef clearly has options, ideas, and enthusiasm for diners like us.

My husband and I came for my birthday dinner this year. You need to walk down the alleyway to find the entrance. The outdoor seating looked cozy, however, we sat inside. Inside, there are a small number of tables and a bar. We had the crispy octopus to start. It was cooked perfectly, was tender and had great flavor. For my entree I had the halibut. It was slightly overcooked (a little dry), but the portion was a good size and flavors were nice. I don't remember what the dessert we had was called, but it is the reason for -1 star. It was chocolate something but the flavor was just weird, texture was not great either. They gave me a complimentary small piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream as well for my birthday, but that was not good either. Cake was dry and ice cream tasted watery and the texture was off. This was disappointing because I love dessert, but probably wouldn't risk ordering it here again.

Everything was delicious at Four Eleven York! We popped in for brunch, and were given a delightful amuse bouche of donuts. We opted for the country ham Benedict, biscuit platter, and Avocado BLT. Each dish was very tasty. Pro tip: don't sleep on their coffee, it's locally roasted at Norfolk Coffee & Tea company, and it's hands down the best coffee we've ever had in a restaurant!

One of last meals in Norfolk and worth every penny! The dining experience was elite. The kitchen comes out with some special treats as a nice little surprise and each dish is crafted with care. The vibes on the inside are immaculate, an excellent date night spot.

This is one of the best restaurants in Norfolk. Food is always fresh and delicious. The service is impeccable and the ambiance from the indoor quaint restaurant to the outdoor terrace is absolutely beautiful.

Had brunch there with a friend for the first time and it was very nice day, the server was friendly and helpful. Started with the lavender French 75 and it was delicious, for brunch I had the crab cake Benny but I was expecting something better with more of an elevated crab cake for the price point. This was a very sad and thin crab cake with no lumps. The poached eggs were done well. We had complimentary donuts and the glaze was crème brûlée. All in all good experience.

Let start with AMAZING! We have been here multiple times and this is what we have learned: - The service is top notch. Everyone is friendly and always attentive. - The cocktails (go with the seasonal ones) are absolutely amazing. Yes they can make a dam good old fashioned but you can get that anywhere. - We have tried so many dishes here and every single one has been good. We've never gotten a bad plate. EVER! The dishes may seem eccentric or you may even think "those flavors won't work " but believe you need to trust the chef. We just did one of their event dinners and it was fabulous. This is my current FAVORITE restaurant. Now that said .... Don't go...it's tiny and I need to be able to get a reservation.....just kidding....if you are a real food person and you enjoy a good quality meal of fresh, local and seasonal ingredients this is going to be you new favorite place.

We have now been to 411 Eleven York 3 times for their Valentine's Day Menu, and once again they did not fail to impress. It was incredible. The service by Reagan was fantastic and the food was just as good. We were lucky enough to be seated in the quiet and lovely bed and breakfast they operate next to the main entrance. We had the fire place next to us with just a few 2-top tables in the room. I, and my wife, do not necessarily celebrate Valentine's Day, but we do enjoy the creative menus that the nicer restaurants provide on that day. If you haven't been to Four Eleven York, it really is a must-go-to place in Hampton Roads. We have been many times and are always happy when we leave.

I took myself on a little solo date here. I had a taste for a charcuterie board and some good sangarias so I decided to give this spot a try. The location is absolutely beautiful! Its along side some water behind it. There is a nice outside patio seating area. In the inside is a nice seating area with flowers and real candles lit on each table. There is also a bar. Its decorated perfectly for a date night! To start off I received a complimentary dish (the tiny yellow dot) Im not quite familiar with what it was but it was good! I never had something like that before. It was the texture of a grape and had a unique flavor. My peach sangaria was delicious! It had fresh pieces of fruit soaking in the inside of it. And the charcuterie board perfect! Everthing on the board went so well together. It came with a special goat cheese mixed with honey, prosciutto, olives, two other cheeses, pickled, pepperoni and peanuts. The board was $25 and the peach sangaria was $10. Lovely prices and the service was great! I was treated so well by my server and other workers also came to my table to check in on me. I will definitely be back here soon to get another board! Maybe next time I will try a dish as well. There were alot of yumny entrees on the menu to choose from.

I recently celebrated my besties birthday and offered to treat her to dinner at a place of her choosing. Well like most of my people and friends, they know I am the Yelper, so she asked me to pick a place. Well I came up with six places for her to choose from and of the six this was one of her choices. I chose this restaurant, because I saw I could make reservations via OPEN TABLE (app) instead hoping to get in and get seated at a reasonable time on a Thursday evening. I made the reservation before 12pm on the same day without worry. :) We arrived about 6:15pm. We were greeted immediately and seated in record time. I chose to dine on the patio since this time last week, Thursday was a beauty. Like sunny 70 degrees + Our waitress, Mina or something to that sort. Mina was on point throughout the night and pretty much straight to the point, no chaser. I cannot complain at all about Mina - way to go! Items ordered... We arrived just before happy ended (7pm) and my plan was to pretty much order everything on the HH menu and we would share... minus the drinks. Our palates are very much different. Therefore, the sweeter for her and I'll take on everything else :) The happy hour menu consisted of: Wines for $4.11 Cocktails for $4.11 Classic Cocktails $7 One or two food items were included as well, but not featured on the menu. I enjoyed the old fashioned... two of them did me proper. My bestest, the luxardo collins - she thought it was just OK... again she likes sweet. She tried another cocktail not on the HH menu and enjoyed that one better minus the egg white foam on top. We split the HH poboy sandwich. The flavor of the sandwich was tasty. Meals - Myself - flounder and Bestest - rigatoni We tore it up!!!! Period!! I think we left no crumbs on the plates!! But aside from the meals and drinks ordered, Mina mentioned surprises throughout the night... We started with an AMUSE BOUCHE to cleanse our palate. This was too cute. I love honeydew, therefore, I enjoyed this. We also were offered biscuits that they sell by the basket. These were tasty too. Not so much the onion butter... hard past. But the other butter was yummy. Last we had homemade dinner mints... these were cute. Not a powerful minty flavor, but still tasty. At the end of the night, Mina brought out cake and ice cream to celebrate my bestest. This was a super nice gesture and she loved it! Now the taste of the ice cream and cake... 0/10 - like as if!!!! It was only the presentation that wow'd us. Beware of the cake and ice cream. It was free however, the gesture was super unexpected and appreciated :) Parking was not an issue. I was able to find parking on the street and it was only a short walk to the restaurant. I do recommend you check out this place. Thursday evening was perfect for us :) Have fun and enjoy life :)

My husband took me here for my birthday- quaint little place, not much decor, but definitely has character. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. My husband insisted I do the "bartender experience" for my drink , and it was a nice idea, but not well executed as you do not actually get to even meet/talk to the bartender. The waitress asked me 3 questions and later on brought out a descent, however nondescript cocktail, supposedly custom-created for me by the bartender. I would expect a bit more for $18...a little lemon twist or some smoke or something, or at least some interaction with the actual bartender. Our Brussels and fried octopus appetizer was very tasty, as was my husband's steak. My handmade pasta had no salt whatsoever, but luckily that was easily fixed with a little table salt sprinkle. We got the carrot blueberry cake for dessert - very moist and flavorful, as well as a complimentary ice cream brownie for my birthday, washed down by a nice espresso! I do believe they also do a brunch, but we may be back for that at some point in the spring, so we can check out their lovely patio.

For starters absolutely stunning, smaller restaurant. In my opinion it is an affordable, cute, date night or girls night spot! It's a really personal dining experience; between the staff's knowledge of the dishes, to different combinations of food that I wouldn't have tried on my own! Before I even rate the food, I'd love to just thank the staff for an amazing dining experience. The pricing was great for the area! Honestly if they went up a little in prices, I wouldn't be upset! Let's talk food!!! Amuse Boush 8/10 - this was a small bite they gave us at the beginning of our dining experience! Everything was made in house! A fresh ricotta cheese, with a blister grape, toasted pumpkin seeds, sea salt, and rosemary! The blistered grape was strong, but otherwise great combination! Homemade biscuits with Onion Jam 9.5/10 - The biscuits are not pictured because we almost inhaled them when they arrived! Soft, delicious biscuits. The Jam was amazing! Lamb Chops 8/10- The come medium rare which is fine! One was medium, but overall the combination was great! The lamb needed a tad bit more seasoning, but everything else was seasoned perfectly. Airline chicken 8/10 - Chicken was seasoned perfectly! I do wish there was a parsnip puree instead of the celery root puree only because it was strong. The broccolini was delicious as well. Almond cherry custard log 7/10 - The dessert was not my favorite, only because the breading under the log needed some sort of seasoning to it. Maybe just a dash of salt to balance the sweetness of the log. That may have been the purpose of the fig balsamic reduction, so I'd be open to trying it again and eating it another way! Overall an amazing experience! I'd say call and make a reservation to give them a try!!

Chic, high-end dining experience in the Freemason neighborhood. We went for my mom's birthday and had an excellent time. The waitstaff was professional, engaging and attentive. The wine list is extensive and we had a South African Chenin Blanc as well as a Côtes du Rhône. Both were perfectly paired with our dinners. Dinner started with a complimentary amuse-bouche (blistered grape with ricotta on a toast). We ordered two appetizers, the octopus and the pork belly which were cooked perfectly. The octopus had a delicious honey glaze which complimented the poblano crema perfectly. Dinner was served with complimentary cheddar biscuits which were savory and airy! My mom and I got the goat cheese ravioli, my dad got the shrimp pasta (not pictured) and my husband got the rack of lamb. Each plate was delightful. We ended the course with three desserts to share. We can't wait to come back and try some more seasonal dishes!

Came here for dinner during our trip to Norfolk. This cute little restaurant is attached to a bed & breakfast. We had reservations so there was no wait. Our server was wonderful & food overall was delicious. We had: -grilled octopus ($26): loved this, perfect char -oysters ($16): half size was sweet and fresh -halibut ($36): solid halibut -handmade fettuccine ($26): delicious -carrot cake: a bit too chunky with carrots for my liking Overall great food & environment. Would come back.

Five star food, five star service. My husband and I enjoyed a long awaited date night and scored Friday night reservations on the patio. We were warmly greeted by a hostess who inquired about any food allergies (I have a friend who recently dined here with a peanut allergy, who said that despite providing them notice, they still served her peanuts...), and were seated outdoors. The indoor dining space is small and intimate, but I definitely recommend the patio seating when possible. We started with a round of cocktails - the Pep in her Step for me, and Nevermore (blackberry, tahini, whiskey) for my husband. Both were creative, unique and delicious. Mine even had Serrano infused vodka! As an appetizer, we shared the seared scallops which were divine and melt-in-your-mouth. In between courses, our waiter brought a little palette cleanser and cheddar biscuits to enjoy on the house! The main event for me was the halibut, cooked perfectly and served with 3 dipping sauces. My husband opted for the homemade fettuccine which came with Mediterranean vegetables and flaked salmon. Both earned a two thumbs up. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. While we didn't save room for dessert, there were 3 options on the menu that evening. The waitstaff also brought over complimentary artisan chocolates for a sweet ending to a delicious meal. We will definitely be back, but since the menu rotates seasonally, plan to give it a few months. 411 also offers fantastic happy hour specials a few days out of the week, which we'll take advantage of at some point, as well.

We recently came here for a date night, and I was pleasantly surprised! This restaurant is secretly tucked away in Freemason, right next to Voila restaurant in Norfolk. Made reservations for a Saturday night about a week out and got a good slot for dinner time. We were immediately greeted before we even got within 10 feet of the door so I knew that this place would have impeccable customer service. You have the option to dine outdoors in an area covered by trees which would have been nice if it wasn't so humid out -- but thankfully our table was indoors. We ordered four appetizers, and one dinner entree would proved to be the perfect amount of food for the two of us. We got the following items: raw oysters (6 total), korean octopus, seared scallops, artichoke dip, and rigaotni with flaked salmon. My favorite appetizer was definitely the scallops which were perfectly cooked and was sitting in this delicious tarragon cream sauce which I couldn't get enough of. There were some parts of the octopus that were quite chewy, but the flavor was good. My wife enjoyed the Rigatoni but mentioned it was a bit more al dente than she would have liked. We got THREE different amuse bouche - bite size items as part of dining experience, which were compliments of the chef/kitchen. The first being a melon bite, the next being some biscuits with butter and jam, and the last being a chocolate dinner mint. This added to our experience and made it such a fun date night. The service can be a bit slow but they do push out some high quality food here. If you're looking for a date night, I recommend checking this place out! SN: there's only street parking

My husband and I had a really lovely time here celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary! The chef's amuse bouche was a shortbread crust with ube jam and matcha foam- an absolutely perfect bite. We enjoyed the charcuterie appetizer which gave plenty of options to mix and match sweet, salty, tangy, savory, and a variety of textures. I had the Capellini Primavera and my husband chose the Australian filet with duck fat potatoes, herbed goat cheese, and smoked carrot purée. Both dishes were executed perfectly and we cleaned our plates. Don't sleep on that smoked carrot purée! We were given a complimentary dessert and glasses of Prosecco to celebrate our special day. A lovely ending to a delicious meal. The service throughout was excellent. Our waiter took great care of us. The restaurant itself is very pretty and reminded us of a cafe from our trip to Paris. Romantic and tasteful ambience.

Absolutely love this little gem of a restaurant! Four Eleven is a great place for brunch, dinner, and happy hour. The patio out back is lovely when it gets a little chillier and the fires are going. I have loved everything I've ordered from here, cocktails and food as well! In particular, I love the Blue Crab Benedict for brunch and the Eastern Shore Oysters and the Airline Chicken Breast for dinner. The mocktail are a tasty treat too. The service never misses and I love all the little surprises throughout the meal!

Fantastic meal from start to finish. The cocktails at the bar including a smoking (literally) old fashion were beautifully balanced and delicious. The apps were crazy - deconstructed soft shell crab poboy and fritters with flake. Beautifully prepared halibut and ravioli topped with duck confit. Capped off with an espresso martini. Go to Four Eleven if you're ready to challenge your tastes and explore some unique and delicious flavor combos. So good.

I visited the restaurant on a Friday night. I sat at the bar and was welcomed with a delicious mocktail by Sean the bartender. It was a quiet night and not as busy as I expected it to be. For an appetizer I chose the lobster and artichoke dip with the warm pita slices. It was delicious and came out warm in a mini cast iron skillet. One thing that's really nice about this place are the complimentary small treats that the chefs send out. For the entree I had the east coast flounder which was very good. I'll be back to try the seasonal desserts!

Wow!! Awesome..... My son made Mother's Day Dinner reservations while still in NYC. It was the first time I had seen him since the beginning of the Pandemic. So any restaurant would have been wonderful. But his choice was special. Enter into a beautiful courtyard. Seating was there or inside. We were seated at an inside table next to a window facing York Street. How pleasant it was watching people walk their dogs down the sidewalk, the Tide Light Rail traveling it's path to the Fort Norfolk Station & the traffic on Brambleton. It was the city feel that I love. Service was excellent. We began with raw oysters, of course. My son & I always do. TheIr Eastern Shore variety was excellent. The menu was such that it was extremely hard to choose. My choice was absolutely perfect. It was hard to pass up the Tempura North Carolina Soft Shell Crab, even though most restaurants don't prepare Soft Shells well. Not so with Four Eleven York. The crab was lightly covered in a tempura sauce that appeared to be baked on. I didn't taste a hint of breading. It was absolutely the best Soft Shell Crab I've ever eaten. My entree was served with Ginger Fried Rice & Grilled Broccolini & Baja Sauce. An option was to add a 2nd crab, which I would have done if I had known it would be so awesome. My Vegan son had the Four Eleven Inn Salad. Not being a fan of sweets, I normally decline dessert options. How glad I was that I agreed to hear Four Eleven's options. The Chia Pudding was phenomenal. It was not at all sweet & had the most unusual light taste. I have been Googling Chia Pudding recipes since. The Restaurant was reported to have a private parking lot, which we didn't find. But tight street parking wasn't a problem since both of us have lots of practice acquired in Brooklyn. Anyone who hasn't tried Four Eleven York is missing an amazing culinary experience. Go....and enjoy.

This is the LOVELIEST little patio for Sunday brunch! It's such a nice and secluded spot to take in a sunny day, but they also offered to light one of the fires if we were chilly. The service and food were both wonderful. One of our favorites was the fresh little Brioche donuts they brought out ahead of the main course, but everything was delicious. We tried a few different drinks, all also great! Looking forward to returning to check out their weekly happy hour.

The food was outstanding! We were a party of 4, we all loved our entrees- the flounder, the shrimp scampi, and the mushroom risotto were delicious. The cocktails were imaginative and tasty. The service was flawless-kind, detail oriented and attentive. Nothing was less than wonderful and we would be happy to return.

Last night we had dinner with friends at the prosaically named, The Restaurant at Four Eleven York. Despite the unimaginative name, this is a hidden gem located in the heart of Norfolk. It was a crisp night, with temperatures hovering in the mid 50's but we were seated in the back patio area and we were quite comfortable with the use of several propane gas heaters. The patio area is rustic and the tables are appropriately spaced in consideration of COVID requirements. Our server Jackie was very attentive and helpful with menu questions and suggestions if you are on the fence about what to order. She recommended a wonderful Pinot Noir from the Ken Wright Cellars located in the Willamette Valley for $45 that was quite good, with notes of Cherry, Raspberry and Tea. For dinner my Wife chose the Florida Gulf Red Snapper for $27 served with a brown butter hazelnut cauliflower purée, vegetable slaw and a Kale purée. This dish was beautifully presented and it was bursting with flavor. The Red Snapper was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I chose the East Coast Halibut (just for the hell of it) for $24, served with a balsamic reduction, yellow pear tomatoes and capers. This dish was both visually appealing and delicious. The Halibut was broiled to perfection with just the right amount of char on the top to give it a slight crunch but it also left the inside hot and juicy, in an almost: "how do they do that", kind of way. The sweetness of the balsamic reduction paired well with the seasoning of the fish, this is a dynamite dish. I highly recommend this wonderful eatery if you are looking for something eclectic or even if you just want to enjoy a fun night out because these folks know how to treat their customers.

one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. hands down worth every penny. the ambiance is definitely intimate, which is awesome for a date night. as for the menu, you can't go wrong with anything you order. however, some items do run out of stock, so if you have your heart set on something, plan your reservation a little earlier. can't wait to go back!

We came to four eleven for a date night and had an absolutely amazing time! We made it just in time to catch the tail end of happy hour (an amazing deal; delicious cocktail options). The experience is very "fine dining" but still comfortable and the portions are not quite fine dining (i.e. big enough ). They serve a couple of tiny surprise amuse-bouche's during the meal that were delicious and fun. The menu is always changing so the things in these photos are probably unavailable (it was a fall/winter menu as we went quite a few months ago), but that makes it the perfect restaurant to visit every season to celebrate a special occasion. The outside area is so cute and I'm excited to go back and enjoy dinner again out there. The bartender was incredibly friendly and our waiter was attentive and quick and was more than happy to chat about the different menu items with us.

We really enjoyed our dinner here with friends. We sat inside and the ambiance was relaxing for a nice small space. I liked that you did not feel that the table next to you was too close or on top of you while dining. Our server was well informed and kept good tabs on us. A busser was also very attentive and came by to clear plates and utensils in a very discreet manner. The extras from the kitchen are nice. To start off, before our meal a tiny piece of melon with a basil leaf on top was brought to the table for each of us. Bread with butter and jam was also brought out and small chocolates at the end of our meal was a lovely finish. We all happened to order the East Coast Flounder and everyone was in the clean plate club so we obviously enjoyed the meal. Wine was enjoyed as well as a specialty cocktail from the bar. I'd love to return for their happy hour and we'll as to dine outside. Next time!

Upscale dining experience! The chef has some wonderful creations. The menu is elevated and mature. The bartender is a true alchemist and a mixologist! Try a mocktail you won't be disappointed.

YES PLEASE! Went here during our stay at the bed and breakfast next door. I truly think they do a great job of making you feel like you've stepped into a "enjoy your time, we'll do the rest" experience when you do them together. Upon entering at night, our table was ready, and staff awaiting. They explained a plethora of things. I love how they can tie the restaurant to the bed and breakfast. Can't finish the wine? No problem, just walk with it back to your room. Want to put it all on one tab? Go for it (I chose not to because our waitress was so great, I wanted her to know I appreciated her right then and there.) From the surprises, to the myriad of menu items available, to being able to answer the myriad of questions I had about the different options, the staff was very friendly and I truly feel like our experience was very much worth it. To be upfront, we went for the moon with our meals. I went for the whole experience and held nothing back. They have an option where they can pick your wines with each serving. I've never done anything like that before and it was awesome. Wine paired with salad? Check... beef wine pairing? Check... and the kicker.. the dessert wine with the dessert.. ha! Big check. Would highly recommend you do this as it's such a nice touch to the entire meal (it can be a little pricey) but hey... you're having someone technically customize your meal. I get it. Finally, we we also hit this place up for breakfast... GET THE PIMMOSA. It's glorious. I'm not a big morning brunch drink person but wow that was a great touch. Four Eleven is my favorite place in Norfolk for brunch and/or drinks. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; I'm always blown away by the service here. The cocktails/mocktails are inventive and expertly crafted (and they have the best happy hour in the 757). The food is always delicious and beautifully plated, and special treats from the kitchen are always a welcome surprise. The outdoor seating is magical, especially in the evening, so make sure you reserve a table on the patio!

I was recommend to try this place by a friend. Started it out slow because our server was running behind, but then he ended up giving us a free cocktail which was nice. We ended up tipping the free cocktail price back on top of the the 20% tip anyhow. We came here and the food was amazing. It a farm to table type of restaurant. The cocktail was fantastic. We had the soft shell crab bánh mì and the scallops were appetizers; they were amazing. Then got the duck ravioli and halibut for main course; they were both amazing as well. They also brought out small biscuits that is to die for. Finally we had the mirror glaze cheese cake and that was out of this world. This is a steal when come to fine dinning. The place is small so make sure you make reservation. Ambiance is also very cute. This is our favorite restaurant in Norfolk this far. Coming back for sure.

We recently dined at the Inn prior to attending the Opera. This was the first time and I will say my cocktail was memorable. We both ordered the daily specials, mine was the Goat Cheese Ravioli: a wonderful treat which you won't typically find. I think I would have liked a light butter sauce, because although the pasta was cooked perfectly, it was dry. My husband ordered the pasta special which was served with calamari. We shared a salad with beets and enjoyed to, especially the dressing. Service was excellent and the Dining area was a cute little tucked away experience. I imagine the garden would be great in warmer weather. We look forward to returning here.

A once great restaurant that remains open only due to outrageous prices. The allure of expensive and exclusive restaurants is always in high demand. However, 411 York's place in this scene is not based on any culinary prowess. Rather, their draw is based on just their prices and exclusivity. A waste. No wonder all of their chefs keep quitting. They offer an amuse bouch at the beginning of dinner. This cracker and toppings were in fact, the only edible matter in the building. And don't even bother ordering the oysters, they were absolutely a disappointment and give a bad name to Norfolk. Drinks were next and I had a Negroni (no spagliato or Prosecco). Rather, a sour, bitter, tingle greeted my tongue. More of a symptom of whatever random assortment they put in my glass than an experience. We also ordered a dirty martini which came out and was indeed straight vodka in a martini glass. As they try to expand the definition of edible food they have forgotten what tastes good. There are many competing and uncomplimentary flavors in all their drinks and food options. More than anything this "restaurant" acts more like a test kitchen - presenting odd creations on par with Plato molded into the title of their dishes. Because this establishment has priced their creations so high it feels as though you are being robbed when the bill arrives. Nothing is gained from spending an evening here. Taste is disheartening. Ambiance is fair. Prices are criminal.

Here's the 411 on Four Eleven (York): Machismo's old diggs, transformed from burritos to boujee. "Upscale dining" with a semi-revolving menu amid chic/contemporary decor in a cozy space with historic bones, sharing a wall with a neighboring bed and breakfast. They offer Sunday brunch but our visit was a Friday couples night celebrating a friend's 50th birthday. Several patrons were wearing jeans (without holes, obviously), so don't over-stress. Service was excellent. Brittany and Melinda were engaging, attentive, friendly and informative; at their suggestion, 3 of us got the "bartender experience" which is $12 for a cocktail inspired by your name, hobby and mood. I made a joke about "stripper" and "lust" but ultimately went with "writing" and "whimsy." They weren't homeruns but we didn't send them back (probably should have). The other 3 table mates loved their first drinks so much, they ordered repeat rounds. Thankfully, the "experience winners" got way better second (and third) bev options, including my wife who LOVED her "Spill the tea" cocktail which Britney coincidentally helped concoct. Korean Chili Braised Octopus ($18x2) and Prince Edward Island Mussels w/ Spanish Chorizo and caramelized onions ($20) were my APP FAVES. Octopus had a char/spicy kick combo while the mussels boasted a splendid balance of freshness, texture, moisture and flavor - this coming from a guy that rarely eats onions. Oh snap, THAT SIGNATURE TATER TOT IS STELLAR. It may be the equivalent to food crack because it's single serve, 1 and done. It's a funny story why they serve it, like a tongue in cheek jab to the previous owner that said the only food that the place was good for was burritos and tater tots. Ladies also tore up the charcuterie board app, probably because the adult bevs were heavy pours and they needed absorbent reinforcements! Nice touch by the servers to provide "board orientation." They also patiently catered to our ladies' feeling of being chilly by turning down the air - welcome to married life, am I right? For entrees, folks opted for the Red Drum ($30), Roasted Antarctic Salmon ($33x2), Carolina Pork Shoulder ($26), Oven Roasted Free Range Chicken ($25) and the birthday boy's Tagliatelle (pasta with squid ink/crab/lobster roe, $19). Considering the price and hype, this course was surprisingly average which was also the group's consensus, 3 of whom had dined before. Though 1 enjoyed her pork shoulder, we agreed there wasn't a wow factor. My salmon was a bit overdone, especially around the outer edges. Brittany kindly offered to take it back; after I thankfully declined, she came back a second time earnestly wanting my feedback because a new person was cooking the fish that night. I told her I'd just eat the middle. Despite being touted as handmade pasta prepared with squid ink (typically earthy), Chesapeake Bay crab and lobster roe, the Birthday boy's Tagliatelle was pretty bland; just a warm ball of noodles. Best part of dinner course was the CHEDDAR BISCUITS, delicious and complimentary. All in all, the pre-advertised bevs and apps were very good; service and ambiance was excellent. Did I mention they surprised our friend with a custom dessert with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate? Then, they treated the table to dark chocolate truffles! How "sweet." If we return and are dazzled by succulent entrees, this place has the makings of our go-to couples spot for 2019! Thanks again Brittany and Melinda for your fantastic hospitality.

I ADORE the Restaurant at Four Eleven York. This place is a true Norfolk gem. The atmosphere is incredibly charming - an outdoor type garden with fire pits and string lights. The perfect place to catch up with a girlfriend or to enjoy a romantic evening out with your partner. The servers are incredibly kind, as well as efficient. When making a reservation, you have the option to select a time frame for happy hour or dinner. I love this feature because it sets the expectation for both you as the customer and for the server. Both times I made a reservation, I was immediately ushered to my table. I highly recommend happy hour or dinner! During happy hour, they have cocktails for $4.11 and discounted appetizers. The drinks are incredibly tasty, fresh, and not skimpy on the liquor. Now for the moment we've all been waiting for - THE FOOD. It's as great as you would imagine. They often do a little tantalizing palette beginning - some type of chef delicacy. Both times I've gone, I ordered the pasta (colored in squid ink!) with lobster. I ordered the same thing twice because it's PHENOMENAL. Some of the best pasta I've had in Norfolk. Finally, they end the evening with a little surprise treat. It's something tiny, but I think it adds a special touch. The pricing here is a bit high, but for the quality you receive I think it is 100% worth every penny. It's also worth noting that they have very limited hours and are only open Thursday-Sunday. I hope eventually they will be able to be open more! Set your reservation now. You won't regret it!

This is a beautiful restaurant that puts out amazing food, with first class service. Decided to try it for my birthday dinner this year; it is an ideal place for a special occasion. The menu is limited, but very creative, and you won't want for tempting options. The charcuterie and cheese board was wonderful, and along with the grilled octopus a great start to the evening. I had the filet, served with a delicious carrot puree. We also tried a Thai-inspired chicken dish, their menu is varied and everything was executer wonderfully. In addition to the main restaurant, there is a beautiful outdoor seating area in the garden behind the building. I plan on trying it out for happy hour soon, there were many tempting craft cocktails on the menu that would be wonderful there. This place was special, highly recommended!

This restaurant is a treasure! I went here with a good friend last week and had an absolutely incredible experience. First, the ambience is amazing. We sat outside, and it was picture-perfect, with small tables spaced nicely apart and beautiful flowering vines crawling up the walls of the outdoor space. The indoor space looked beautiful as well, though I only saw it briefly on my way out. Our server was wonderful. She greeted us right away, told us about the menu and gave us just the right amount of time to decide on drinks and our entrees. I had the pomegranate punch, and it was quite tasty. Both of us ordered the striped capellini for dinner. Our server told us she was going to make sure there were enough meals left for us, and she literally ran into the kitchen to make sure. Loved that! Our food was amazing, with big chunks of lobster topping the pasta, plus we received fresh biscuits with our meal that were quite tasty. We shared the flourless chocolate brownie for dessert. It was a bit dry, but still good. Overall, a wonderful evening. I highly recommend this cute place for the amazing atmosphere, service and food.

We have been here many times, so this review is long overdue. Hopefully in the future I will also be able to share photos, but honestly 411 York is such a wonderful experience that I completely disconnect from my phone while we are there. From the minute you walk in, the staff is welcoming and attentive. The food is amazingly good, and the "surprises" they bring during each course are fun and yummy. For entrees, I highly recommend the chops or any of the homemade pastas. Cocktails are 10/10, and we love the Bartender's Experience where you can answer a few basic questions for a custom drink. We have brought several friends here for group nights out, and this is also a staple for our date nights as well. Pro tip: definitely make reservations regardless of the size of your group. We'll be back, and fingers crossed I remember to take photos next time!

Simply the best experience I have had without any expectation. This is a hidden hospitality Mecca that nobody should keep quiet because they deserve to reach as many people as possible and be challenged because their creativity and passion to be great is clearly driven by having the best staff. My wife and I were down visiting from the DC area and wanted to find a cool drink and app spot before we had festivities at home. We popped into another spot that was cool but didn't have the energy we ultimates found at 411. After not seeing bar seats we cruised to 411, found parking right out front, went down the cool side alley entrance and were greeted by literally everyone working in the restaurant. We were seated at the bar and had the absolute best experience with Cameron!! We did the "bartenders experience".... Full stop on the menu, order this! Cameron asked a bunch of fun questions to give him an idea for the drinks and to set the stage for fun conversations at the bar. Long story short after asking the questions it made it even more amazing, my wife gave some answers to the questions and I swear when I tried the drink the answers to the questions came through which made our experience that much more validated. Great staff, incredible programs to make guests feel it's tailored to them, awesome vibe and the best execution. Honestly the second best cocktail experience I've ever had outside of Employees Only. #fourelevenyork

This restaurant was the perfect ending to an amazing girls trip with my bestie. We had amazing cocktails and the oysters to start. She ordered the shrimp pasta and I ordered the snapper, and the food didn't disappoint. My only issue was the wait in between dishes but to be honest it was worth it. The amuse bouche was also an amazing surprise. I'd love to come back and try the breakfast/brunch!

We finally made it to Four Eleven York in the Freemason area of Norfolk for brunch and it did not disappoint! Parking is slim but if you look around in the neighborhood you can find something. No reservation, we got a seat at the bar and the bartender Sean was very friendly and easy to converse with. The menu is small but some great features and they had an amazing special! The also have some surprise treats on Sunday mornings which were a great way to start the meal! Definitely will be back for brunch and to try dinner.
