We came here for a late afternoon meal on the strength of some very favourable reviews, and we were certainly not disappointed. The steak tartare was excellent, reflecting the fine quality of the meat. Being really picky, it would have been nice to have had a small bowl of finely chopped shallots and a little tabasco, but this may be a germanic thing.
The octopus salad was the standout dish, with a fabulous mango dressing, with fennel and nice salty undertones from the capers. The octopus was flame grilled and beautifully tender and also slightly charred, adding to the flavour.
The steak salad was also an excellent main course and could be cut like a knife through butter.
We finished the meal with a fabulous crème brûlée, that was creamy and not too sweet. The cheese board was also full of local Slovenian delights, including a very tasty black variety that was extremely tasty.
Restaurant Ljubjiana is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy top quality food. My only other observation is that one is spoilt for choice and it is really hard to pick from the excellent range of food on offer!
