The 16 Best Bars In DTLA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Meet the best big group bar downtown. Rhythm Room is located in the basement of an office building at the corner of Spring and 6th, and has a massive space filled with activities to keep you and your friends entertained: pool tables, ping pong tables, shuffleboard, darts, board games, and a live jazz band. Also, there’s an entirely separate bar area with good cocktails and a crowd looking to mix things up." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins

If you are a true music person The Rhythm Room is one of the best spots to listen to outstanding musicians. I've read some of the negative feedback on here. Yes it is a small venue, yes it can get crowded. If you are concerned about having seats arrive early and wait outside in line to ensure you get a seat. I've seen at least 10 shows here, the place can't be beat. If you are super bougie and don't want to be close to people go listen to music at an outdoor festival.... If you want to support hard working musicians playing great music in an intimate setting this is your spot! Oh and the drinks and service are always on point.

Google
Great music venue. Finest music acts in town perform here. Can buy tickets in advance for some seating choices. Good drinks and great customer service by Heather and others! Bob Corritore is an owner and plays often with impressive musicians from around the world! Check it out soon!

Saw Sue Foley. Great atmosphere and good seats.

Google
Short: Small intimate music venue with basic bar. No pool tables or other bar-type activities other than a micro dance floor and low band stage. Sound system is ultra loud but equalized well for the space. Decent sized patio area. Kind staff. I went on a slow night with only 1 band playing but at least the band was good. I would come back for a punk or hardcore show specifically because of the sound system and venue size

Google
Great small venue with a large drink selection at reasonable prices. Saw Pat Travers here and it was fantastic. Staff was friendly and the clientele as well.

Kathy Baldwin

Google
Went to concert Anthony Gomes last Friday with longtime girl friends. It was standing room only because at opening there was a line waiting to be let in. That was perfectly fine because Anthony Gomes was a great performer. Service was great if you walked up to bar. Good times for good memories.

Rebecca Martinez

Google
Saw the Showcase Tour, great chance for new artists to get noticed and showcase their talents! Should have food (at least snacks) and drinks to accommodate younger crowd for these types of events. Could have set up the seating better too.

Carla Denise

Google
Blues at its best! This is my second time here. The music and staff is always good. My server was really sweet. The seating was a little tight, but with the great music, you should be up dancing anyway! If this was helpful, please give a thumbs up.

Yelp
My very first time ever here & what a cool venue! The acoustics here are perfect for any kind of music, as I found out. Great bartenders here for your drink pleasures but the only food you can get here are snack-sized bags of chips or pretzels. Small dance floor & as far as seats go it's wise to arrive early if you want to sit & enjoy the band. Parking lot is small too. I was here to see Cold Shott & the Hurricane Horns & they draw a great crowd.

Yelp
This place has been on my Phoenix bucket list! What a cool live music venue! Cash cover at the door so that was a little inconvenient, but otherwise it was awesome. You need to get there fairly early to get a table depending on The band I'm guessing. The band was incredible. Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns. If you love a good fuck band you need to see them play. Drinks were average price for Phoenix.

Yelp
Blues in Phoenix!! Blues Hall of Fame happening today. Today 1st Annual Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Yelp
Service is good . Usually have food truck out side that are good when they have big shows. Clean Bathroom clean . Nice Employees . Fun Dancing

Yelp
No decor to speak of. Some tables, bbut mostly standing room. Order drinks at the bar; very spotty waitress service. No food. Some side/partially obstructed views. Decent but not outstanding sound system. Loud, hot room. In short ... Great place to hear some live blues !!

Yelp
Went to this bar after a dinner date for the first time but will not be my last. I love live music and I love me some Blues. There was some talent on that stage for sure! I'm from the south and moved to Az in November. This place felt like home in many ways. It was a mature crowd , no drama; just good fun and great service at the bar!

Yelp
This is a great venue to visit if you like being up and close to the band. The Rhythm Room has been around for as long as I can remember and holds a couple hundred people. They have been voted "Best Club for Blues" in Phoenix in previous years. My buddy and I used to come here quite regularly to see rockabilly shows before he passed away. Over the years, we saw Dale Watson, Johnny Boyd, JD McPherson, The 5.6.7.8's and The Reverend Horton Heat. I miss catching these shows with that guy. The Rhythm Room can get pretty crowded, but it is a fun venue. There is an area outside that you can hang out to smoke or if you just want to get some fresh air. The only thing that sucks is that the parking lot is really small. Get here early if you want a spot or you have to park across the street on some side street and hope you don't get towed. This area of town is a little sketchy too.

Yelp
I really love this venue. So much that i travel from Tucson to visit. They feature different music genres but I Have seen top Blues, rock, rockabilly and harmonica showcase jams. Small, intimate w excellent acoustics. Bar is simple with huge bottled (and canned) beer selection, complimentary ice water station. No food except chips but great mexican taco spot directly across the street. Owner and staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
I went for a Celebration of Life and they wouldn't let me bring in my water in a clear plastic bottle. I'm pissed as hell. It's 110 degrees outside. It's Arizona This was absolutely ridiculous. Fuck this place.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't believe I have not been here before! Had the opportunity on Sunday evening to see Taj Farrant who is an unbelievable guitarist at just 15 years old. Never saw Hendrix or Prince before, and Sunday, they must have been smiling down on the Rhythm Room. This venue has been around since 1991and if you like the Blues, you need to checkout the venue. The building has a large bar, four walls and a stage. If you are early, you may get to sit on a bar stool or folding chair. It's really not about the ambience, it's about the music and being in a room with many people who appreciate great music.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
If you appreciate a local musically educated vibe... this is it!! I am in love this spot! Yes that's my nice way of saying "older" 30 and up club.

Yelp
We only recently discovered the Rhythm Room and boy, are we glad we did! This is what live blues is all about...great musicians, very friendly staff and the best value for your entertainment dollar you will find in AZ. Onsite (delicious!) BBQ and a vibe that can't be beat.

Yelp
Came for a cocktail but loved the service, ambiance and food was also tasty. Would recommend if you like sitting at the bar and people watching. We had a blast and will definitely go back again.

Janie O.

Yelp
Bob C! reviews have been wonderful! We have enjoyed many, many years of your great music that you bring to the valley! I can't wait to see you again! Janie (Watson) OConnell

Yelp
All Good ! Been their many times when in town from Sonoma County California. Just wish your wine selection was better

Laurel L.

Yelp
Great artists! Fun venue for music. Good prices on drinks too. And easy free parking.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Fun place to see your favorite band up close. I really enjoy this more than huge venues. Always a fun time.

Yelp
Maybe I caught a show on the wrong night, but I'd never go here again. The band was unorganized...figuring out what they were going to play when they got on stage. I know that musicians usually do a little bit of that on stage...but this was supposed to be a Chico Chism tribute. You'd think they would start with a little chat about Chico and then play a song; actually know how they were going to start. That's what I thought would be happening anyway. They all looked like they were high and were in their own little world. Sadly, the audience had more energy than the band. The white lead singer seemed like he was impersonating a soulful black man. I couldn't help but think I was watching a real life (not funny) version of Malibu's Most Wanted. Zero authenticity, zero respect for the historical roots of the blues. I'd call this place and assault on my sensibility. Unfortunately, my friend was visiting from NC and now this image of blues in AZ is seared in his head. To put a positive spin on it, we refer to it as an "unforgettable experience." We left before the end of the second song, and even that was too much.

Yelp
This is a fun place if you want to hear live music and go dancing... you can have a lot of fun there
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
This place is the one of the oldest blues/jazz clubs in Phoenix. It wears its' age with style and grace.... Some would simply call it COOOOL! There's no food except for an occasional food truck but the bar is stocked and the beer is cold. The venue itself provides a stage for acts from a bygone era in music. And God Bless Them for doing so! Bob C, you're a legend.
google avatar

Deedee W.

Yelp
As local music venues go this one doesn't get much better. Nice intimate space where you can listen (and drink) to local and famous alike! You never know what or who is going to show up at the Rhythm Room. Get on there mailing list and check this place out. Best place and best price to see an intimate show.
google avatar

Angelia M.

Yelp
The service was very good. The bartenders and waitresses were friendly.. It's a small place, but it feels very comfortable . You feel like it's a place where you can really enjoy and have a good time . The band we saw was excellent . And I'd like to go again .

Yelp
A treasure that should be considered an institution and is a must-do evening out in Phoenix! If I lived here I'd go all the time. We were on vacation in Phoenix and when I saw that there was a blues club in town, we were like, "OK, let's check it out." Then I saw that Bob Corritore, who is a monster national blues harmonica master, who plays with virtually all the top tier blues players, and who I had heard on the radio and on many recordings, was playing at the club and is actually the owner of the Rhythm Room, so we had to go. It was an amazing evening. The band was outstanding. The club has a great sound system, not too loud at all, and people were up and dancing! The staff was friendly and professional. This is not Carnegie Hall, folks, it is a seasoned Blues Club that features a wide range of regional and touring blues acts - amateurs and professionals. Support local and touring blues acts! Have some brews, by some CD's and band swag and help keep this gem of a club alive in Phoenix!

Yelp
Best live blues, blues rock, roots, and R&B music in Phoenix! Great service and friendly, casual atmosphere. There concert schedule is definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Judy Carrera M.

Yelp
I went there last night the first time heard it had good jazz and blues and some good bands well none of the above the sound system was so old awful speakers cracking and mic s not hardly on The first 2 people were like watching 2 dead people from a horror movie so bad then the next band a little better but sound was off bad

Yelp
We came for the Rockabilly night and it was swinging! Lots of jitterbugs on the dance floor! It was a great time! Admission was $10 for 3 local bands from 8pm to midnight. I was glad we came early to snag a seat because it filled up fast! By 9 the place was packed! They have a large parking lot which was a relief, didn't have to worry about parking. There's a long bar and in front of the bar is the dance floor with seating around it, the stage is front and center. I like how large it is for a blues bar. For instance, Char's is a good blues bar with good music but it's too tiny and I feel claustrophobic there. I don't have that problem here, there's room to breathe and a patio! And there is also a large patio too with a nice huge graffiti mural piece of different blues singers. The first band that night was a rockabilly country band called Pat Roberts & the Heymakers. Then came Mario Moreno & the Black & Tans who were a latin rockabilly band - very cool and different than your usual rockabilly. The final, and main event was Voodoo Swing who put quite a show on. (Video attached!) It was all well worth the $10. Also, service was great! The roving bar server was wonderful, she helped everyone seated with a smile and although we picked corner seats she still checked on us every hour, while making her rounds. The gentleman at the ticket entrance was very nice and friendly too, always spoke to us with a smile as well! I'd love to give it 5 stars but it needs to have some actual food options other than regular chips and pretzels - hot meals rather than dry food. The interior also needs some TLC.

Yelp
I loved this place! Brought my dad here for his birthday weekend. He loves live music, especially being a trumpet player. The night we went the Hurricanes and Horns were playing. Excellent band!!! So passionate about music, the vocals, the artists. So amazing! We had such a great night!!!!
google avatar

Connor N.

Yelp
There was a room and it was rhythmical Nice bar Jamming is for band practice not stage
google avatar

Marci C.

Yelp
Dang did we have fun! Bartenders were awesome, the crowd was great, the room was rockin!!! A Phoenix institution, the Rhythm Room has something for everyone. Watch live music in a venue that doesn't pretend to be anything more than a place for drinks and musical shows that won't break the bank. :) Thumbs up Rhythm Room!!! You rock my world ;)
google avatar

Dianalynn R.

Yelp
I met GB Leighton!!! I met GB Leighton!!! This is such a great venue for meeting and listening to bands right up close and personal. My hubs went with his bud to listen to the Hoodoo Kings all the time. RIP Trippy And he loved that he got to know so many people because of the intimate setting. This was my first visit, and I loved literally singing with GB Leighton, well it felt that way anyway. There was a dance floor. And a bar, with alcoholic and non -alcholoic drinks served. If you love music, you already know about this place, and if you love music and don't somehow know this place, then you'll enjoy a visit.

Yelp
First time here tonight, saw Wishbone Ash. This is the epitome of a dive bar, and that's why I loved it. Absolutely no bad seats from the stage. Seats are first come first serve, but no worries. Great beer selection and very reasonable. Outdoor patio for smokers. Food truck out back if your hungry. Look forward to going back.

Yelp
This is the only place I want to see the blues in Phoenix. Yes MIM and Mesa Arts have great artists coming to town this year, but they just can't match the ambiance at the Rhythm Room. Let me hit the floor for a slow dance with my man and call RR Phoenix's home of the blues!

David M.

Yelp
Great shows are here... but the place could use a massive reinvestment. Chairs are old and have rips in the fabric, tables are all wobbly, and the entire interior reeks of early 1970's.
google avatar

Tarry B.

Yelp
Great new bands. Great that they give these new bands a shot. Some really great music!!!! Stiff cocktails. I'm impressed they checked my I'd and I'm over 40. I'm coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Live Music Venue in Phoenix, centrally located, very friendly, and good craft beers on tap from Flagstaff. I always have an epic good time here.
google avatar

Janelle N.

Yelp
A little crowded, a little zany, a little dancing but lots of fun! Great venue to see Cold Shott! Intimate feel and nice interaction between band and patrons. Fun place to while away the long sultry nights in Phoenix!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been there many times in the last 25 years on and off. Chicago and Delta Blues I find to be the most exciting music which this place certainly delivers. It is reasonably in admission charges, the bartenders are always courteous and there is no pressure for you to drink yourself to death! :-) - like in so many other establishments. Due to the pandemic, lasting for 2 years, the club is now also showing brand new blues and some "experiments", which the young crowd is eating up and make some of us feel younger (or older, all depending on our age). It is definitely a club to have lots of fun, nice dancing loving people, whether single or not! And it seems to be the only establishment in town which delivers living legends on stage from all over our country and there have been many times when I was literally blown away by the quality of the attending musicians. Quiet a few of them are not with us anymore and I can happily say: oh yes, I saw the "legends" live - I know what the real blues sounds like ... :-) brigitte

Yelp
I was appalled that after paying good money to see the Boxmasters last night that there was no seating. We arrived early, had to stand in line to get into the venue and were appalled that when we got inside - NO seats. We ended up standing for total +3.5 hours and left before the end of the show. They obviously don't care about their clientele. Likely will not ever go back.
google avatar

Keith G.

Yelp
We were planning on attending blues contest on Sunday. Allthough we are vaccinated the 4 of us WILL NOT be there! Mixing politics with music isn't for us!
google avatar

O'Zandra F.

Yelp
Awesome place for jazz ana cheap drinks!!! Band was in point! Staff was pleasant. :-)
google avatar

Yelp
I am horrified to receive a notification that starting immediately I am required to prove I had a jab for Covid, especially knowing the jabs don't work and are causing blood clots, heart attacks, plus many other side effects and killing folks. What happened to HIIPA? You just lost another customer, and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague. Shame on you!!!
google avatar

Judy G.

Yelp
Kudos to the awesome Rhythm Room for taking the steps to keep both your patrons and your employees safe by requiring Covid vaccination cards or negative Covid tests!! Bravo !! We, along with many other people will be coming to enjoy your fantastic music lineup! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Mark N.

Yelp
Fun place great music. A Phoenix institution. You can see great talent at very reasonable cover charge.

Yelp
I am heading out to see the Yachtsman tonite--and think it is great that they care about their staff and patrons by taking measures to ensure good health and a great show is enjoyed by all.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
If you love the blues and are looking for a Chicago style blues club them the Rhythm room has it. This is top notch entertainment and the prices are good for live great music.
google avatar

Rachelle D.

Yelp
RR is awesome!! We have seen local artist here several times and they never disappoint. There is ample parking, their sound system is fantastic, and their bartenders and entire staff are friendly and accommodating. We saw Marmalade Skies here, a Beatles cover band, several times in the last couple of years and always look forward to going again. Keep up the great work, Rhythm Room!

Erika J.

Yelp
Looks like a jazz bar is expected but seating seems a bit packed and never saw a waitress
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
Small and cozy venue which I love! Even if you didn't get a table, you could see the band from anywhere in the joint. My first time here was to see the sugar thieves and it was packed! Awesome to see so much diversity enjoying blues music here. Fun place, fair prices on drinks and friendly service staff. I will be back! Thank you!
