"A diminutive but popular Downtown restaurant run by chef Charles Olalia that occupied a roughly 200-square-foot space; it built a devoted following despite its minuscule footprint and has recently announced its closure." - Farley Elliott

Rice Bar Chef Charles Olalia Will Bring Modern Filipino Drinking Food to Silver Lake | Eater LA

"I note that Olalia’s tiny 200-square-foot Rice Bar in Downtown is highly regarded and intentionally celebrates the otherwise unheralded cuisine of everyday Filipino lunch, serving as his first major project after leaving Patina." - Crystal Coser

Super cute and adorable place! There aren’t any food pics coz it was gone in 60 seconds!😀It was really good. Next time, we decided to order and eat there. So glad it’s closer to our house. It’s a hidden gem and an asset to ‘The Colony’ for sure!

I always miss out on stopping in because they don't open until 3, but this has to be one of the most underrated and under visited spots in The Colony. Their bulgogi rice bowl is delicious. The food is always good. I will make an effort to visit more often. If they had kimbap... I would likely gain 50lbs.

Small but great Asian cuisine restaurant in The Colony. Not too far from Highway 121. When we arrived here on Saturday at around 4pm, there wasn't anyone but a very polite lady who runs this restaurant who explained everything and took our orders and also cooked the food since she was the only one there. We had the Spicy Squid Bowl and Spicy Chicken Bento Box and both were absolutely delicious. Loved the pot stickers in the bento box. Haven't had such a good bento box for a while now. Both the quality and the quantity were awesome. In fact the quantity was a lot! The ambience is also quite good and well kept/clean. We will be back soon to try other items in the menu. Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The food was great and the service was super friendly! Looking forward to coming back and trying more... Lots of nostalgia to this location for me and happy to see friendly owners and service! Highly recommend! Update. I had not been here in quite a while, but just came back yesterday and have to say I really really enjoyed the food again and the service. Everything I ate was outstanding and flavorful!

I got chicken bibimbap and my bf got chicken katsu. The sauce on the chicken katsu is too sweet, but it tastes great if you ask them to hold the sauce. If you do takeout, they automatically hold the sauce. I've tried bulgogi and chicken bibimbap and I prefer the chicken. My go to order here is chicken bibimbap. The lo mein is very salty and kind of sweet. The fried rice is also salty and sweet. I don't recommend either. The egg rolls and stuffed crab are average. Overall, great mom and pop shop. Their chicken bibimbap and chicken katsu are consistently good. Veggie pancake is good and big enough for a meal.

Nice quaint place. Owners were very chill. Now to the food! The beef bimbimbap was off the charts! Spicy, tangy, sweet, savory, earthy all the things. Just all the things. The rice, beef, and egg were cooked to perfection. All the sides of cabbage, pickled cucumbers, pickled carrots, sprouts, and other nom noms made such a great dish. Happy I ate here tonight. What a nom nom nom!

Love everything about this place. Cozy mom and pop feel that’s small and intimate. Ordered the beef bulgogi bibimbap and it was so delicious. The bowl was made to order and beef itself was tender and well seasoned. I will definitely visit this place again when I’m in town.
